Overall this CG was very basic, but served its purpose for us well. There are a few shaded sites, but most are fully exposed. There is access to rocky beaches. Great for awesome sunsets, launching kayaks but not for swimming. One of the cool things about the CG is the Airstream lobster shack. It was great being able to enjoy lobster without having to deal with the crowds. We ended up renting a car, but there is an easy shuttle that gets you to Bar Harbor and the park. This CG is in a great location for all things Mount Desert Island. We camped at Bar Harbor / Oceanside KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

If you’re in to beer there is the Atlantic Brewing Co. tucked away 2 miles down the road. Cool place. Good food and family friendly. They also make their own root beer and blueberry soda.

Booked in March a pull thru site for July 27-31st. Arrived at campground to find out they had an "emergency" and gave away our site. Instead of upgrading us they downgraded us to a back in, our compensation 2 stacks of wood valued at $6.00 and a 10% discount, not the difference in price between a pull thru and the back in! Sites are on top of each other. Our picnic table was next to neighbors sewer line and was too heavy for us to move. When we were leaving we had to ask another camper to move his pickup truck so we could make the turn out. On the plus side free bus service to Bar Harbor and the food shack was very good. We camped at Bar Harbor / Oceanside KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Highly recommend this park. Really nice staff, right on the water ( fantastic sunsets), great food shack in a converted Airstream and the WiFi actually worked. Great base camp to Acadia. We camped at Bar Harbor / Oceanside KOA in a Motorhome.

This has a very good location to see Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. Even though this KOA is located on the water, think the prices are a bit high for what they have to offer. The sites are close together and many are not level at all. Saw several rvers who had to ask others to move vehicles so they could get into their site. The fellow who ended up parking his 5th wheel on the site in back of us was actually down a hill and almost on top of his firepit and picnic table. Obviously the site was not the appropriate size for his unit. It appeared that many of their pull through sites that would be appropriate for larger RVs who are staying short term were being taken up by seasonal campers. With the premium prices they are getting, this campground could be top notch if they would attempt to make some improvements on many of their sites. We camped at Bar Harbor / Oceanside KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a campground in need of an infrastructure revitalization. Roads are full of potholes and sites are mushy, uneven and overgrown. Do the owners have to squeeze every dime out of the place? Why can't they devote some of the profits to repairs? I will report on one upgrade. Most of the spots now have cable. Did I say cable? I should have said wires thrown in the bushes with the faint hope that rain, insects and mowers don't interfere with the signal, which is what happens. Mostly the channels are colored snow with a hint of characters on the screen. Come on. Did you have to hire teenagers to haphazardly install the system? We camped at Bar Harbor / Oceanside KOA in a Motorhome.

Very nice campground looking out over a bay. FHU with cable TV worked well. Verizon voice and data strong. The provided WiFi was okay. The restrooms are spacious and shower stalls very clean. Very pleasant. The Island Shuttle is not running this early but car rental is available at the little airport just north of the campground (no airport fees charged). We stayed for a week and really enjoyed the Mount Desert/Acadia National Park. We camped at Bar Harbor / Oceanside KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We learned that the Island Shuttle doesn't run until school is out and the bus drivers are available to drive the shuttle. We did most of our shopping in Ellsworth because of congestion in the city of Bar Harbor this time of year (June, 2019). Keep track of the cruise ship arrivals at Bar Harbor. When a ship is in, the downtown is very crowded. We ate a nice lobster at Beal's down in SW Harbor.

This was a family favorite. The ocean front sites allowed the kids to play in the tide pools at low tide. There was a clean, well maintained playground. We stayed during shoulder season so some of the amenities such as the on site lobster pound were not operating. The staff gave fabulous recommendations about where to hike and dine. We camped at Bar Harbor / Oceanside KOA in a Travel Trailer.

This is a large, and relatively open campground. Some water views, beach is rocky so no real swimming in our area. All amenities worked fine. Their only shortcoming is that many sites are far from level and I saw many units that even with blocks were at quite an angle. A food truck on site had great Clam Chowder and Lobster rolls. What a treat! We camped at Bar Harbor / Oceanside KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

The food truck on site was quite good, however after eating lobster rolls up and down the coast for a week, the sauteed in butter lobster roll at Travelin' Lobster (just down the road) was in my opinion the best we had on our entire trip. Would go back just for that!

This park has a great location. Great water views and access. We spent 18 days here in two different spots. We were 9 days in site 346 and then site 358 which was across the road. 346 is right on the water with unobstructed view of the bay. It is adjacent to the public access to the water. The public access was not too big of an issue for the most part. Some have not been trained in campground etiquette. 358 is a corner site with good view of the bay. Large site with lots of room. The only issue is it is quite unlevel. We never were able to get our coach leveled satisfactorily even with blocks. It is also satellite challenged. But it is a lovely site. These sites do not have sewer, but the park provides a great pump out service. Very reasonable and timely. The staff is great and the park is extremely well maintained. The trash cans are emptied on a continuous basis. We would stay here again. We camped at Bar Harbor / Oceanside KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Great access to all of the Mt. Desert Island/Bar Harbor sites including Acadia National Park, Southwest Harbor, Northeast Harbor and Bass Harbor. Acadia National Park is spectacular. The Lobster Pounds are a hoot. Ellsworth which is about 10 miles away has a Super Walmart, Home Depot and super markets.

One of the larger KOAs we've stayed in, this location is close to Acadia, on the water. Our site had zero trees, however, it was close to the ocean. The sites seemed packed together but overall was easy to navigate the campground for parking our 21' TT with one slide. Would stay here again when in the area! There is a shuttle that will take you around the area (not a KOA shuttle) that makes multiple stops. We did not use but it seemed to be fairly straightforward.

Stayed here three nights in an oceanside spot. It was the best camping spot I have ever had. The ocean is right out side your door - really amazing. The spots not on the ocean were small but you are still close to the water. I don't think there is a spot without a view of the water. It is expensive but was worth it to us. This campground is indeed what I would call a resort, and naturally the price is a little higher than many, especially on season. Both my wife and I agree however, that it is well worth it. After spending a week dry camping in a national park campground, we really felt like we were "glamping" here at KOA. We stayed four days in a dead level gravel site with a lovely view of the narrows. All the utilites (water and electric) worked very well. With the aid of my booster, the WiFi was acceptable and the campground says they're in the process of making big improvements. Verizon signal was marginal but useable unlike in most areas of Mt. Desert Island. The park features great play areas for kids and a really nice dog park. Everywhere we've been up here has been extremely dog friendly. There are lobster and BBQ dinners available every night. Haven't tried it, but it looks to be quite popular. Pumpout service is available if you're staying for awhile in a W&E site. Laundry, showers and a nice clean bath house also provided. The large staff here were all very friendly and accomodating. All in all we had a great time here, and we will surely return. We camped at Bar Harbor / Oceanside KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Too many things to do in this area to list. Shuttle service available at the camp office to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. Hiking trails and bicycle carriage roads in Acadia are wonderful. You should definitely take advantage of them. Absolutely beautiful area.

We stayed here last year and discovered you can renew your same site every year before leaving and then potentially change it to a different site come Nov 1. We were able to upgrade our site to water front which was very important to us. It is expensive and crowded if you aren't at the right spot. Lots of mosquitos, so bring your bug spray. Staff is excellent! No sewer is available near the water due to EPA regulations, so it's an extra $15 to have your tanks emptied. I love the proximity to Acadia National Park. Stop at Tracey's restaurant on the way to Schoodic peninsula for lobster rolls. 2 for $12! 4 ounces of lobster vs 5 at other places that charge $20 for one. The Thirsty Whale on Cottage St has a great haddock BLT for $10.

Our first visit. Staff very friendly and helpful. $97.44 per night was a little over the top, but the view was excellent. Other campers were very friendly and out going. Site was grass, so leveling was somewhat of a problem. Lots of children around, but all were considerate. We were lucky to get two nights, but being right on the bay paid for it. Would recommend this KOA to everyone. We camped at Bar Harbor / Oceanside KOA in a Motorhome.

Very pricey but overall a nicer KOA. Utilities worked well and bathrooms were clean. A $35. site but $90. in Acadia National Park area. Lots of kids and kid activities. We paid a premium for FHU but would probably do lesser site next time and save a lot of money. We camped at Bar Harbor / Oceanside KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

It's Acadia National Park so you could spend the whole summer there. Many hikes, biking on the carriage trails, boat trips, lighthouse or whale watching, sailboats, lots of lobstah, beautiful sunsets, scenic drives etc. etc. Bar Harbor can be a zoo with so many tourists but still worth a day visit to walk along the shore, do some retail therapy and have lunch/dinner.
