Site was wooded, but on a hill, and had difficulty getting level. Had to borrow extra boards to get trailer level. Other then that, we loved this place. Great people, great rate for being just 6 miles from bar harbor. beautiful water view of the narrows. Very clean and quiet. They gave us passport America rate for all 5 nights. We camped at Mt Desert Narrows Camping Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Spent a whole day driving, hiking Acadia national park. Could have spent more, but found the schoodic peninsula and Southside harbor just as beautiful with a lot fewer people. Only spent 1 hours in bar harbor, early morning, only one cruise ship in harbor. more than one ship, don't go...too crowded. Free shuttle stops frequently at campground. Used it to go into town. We drove Acadia on our own, not as crowded as summer months. Little long pond is great place to kayak.

This park has a fantastic Sunset view of the Lake which we had the pleasure of the day we arrived. The site we were in was a bit of a squeeze to get in however, the site itself was roomy. Everyone on staff and fellow campers were pleasant. They had an ice cream social on our second night with lots of leftovers to take back to our camper for another night. Close to everything around Acadia and Bar Harbor. A bus comes by every 30 minutes or so to take you to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. The bus is FREE provided by LL Bean. Wonderful Place, will be back. We camped at Mt Desert Narrows Camping Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall we liked this campground. Office staff very nice. Our site was a good one--not on the water but nice size and trees. We felt it was kinda expensive but it is Bar Harbor in the summer. We camped at Mt Desert Narrows Camping Resort in a Motorhome.

Other reviewers give much detail on this park and we would stay here again if we could get a premium site. It's a nice park overall and is nicely situated for exploring Bar Harbor and surrounding areas. It has some very nice sites along the water and they offer a pump out service for your tanks if you don't get a site with sewer hookups. BE PREPARED FOR TWO THINGS: 1. You may need to apply lots of blocking to get your rig level if you rent a site where ours was. Our site, number 35, required us to use 17 Lynx blocks, 2 pieces of 2 x 6 lumber and a large half round piece of firewood, both of which we found on another empty site and 3 cinder blocks that we got from the maintenance staff to level and stabilize our unit. The site had multiple tree roots on the surface and a steep drop off to the woods behind us. Some of the other sites in line with ours required some extensive blocking as well. The road we were on had some deep pot holes so go slow as you approach the bottom of the road where it turns into a paved segment. 2. The park is on well water. The brand new water filter I installed on our rig to remove sediment before we hooked up to the water system turned from white to almost black in 24 hours. There are signs in the laundry advising not to wash whites as they are on well water. We camped at Mt Desert Narrows Camping Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

First Impression: Neutral roadside presentation. Sign could stand to be upgraded. Almost drove past the entrance. Safety: No concerns. Access: Route 3 onto Desert Island. Note the Sunoco station and go just over a mile. CG is on the left. Municipal road in good condition. Garmin GPS is accurate. Office: Friendly and welcoming staff, nice store with snacks, food items, souvenirs, and a nice selection of RV equipment items. Credit cards accepted. Online reservations available. No price discounts. Facilities: Heated pool, no spa, no fitness room. Big rec center for parties or meetings; pool table. Aging but usable restrooms. Showers are private rooms, clean, large, no mold, hot water. Propane sales. Playground. No off-leash dog run. Campground: Not in a flood plain. Use restrooms as storm shelter. Variably wooded. Interior roads are very narrow dirt in poor condition (potholes) with tight turns. No overhead obstacles. Big rig challenging and long coaches might have maneuvering problems. Numerous tent areas. Cabins available. Sites are all close, sufficiently level, grass/dirt, pull-through, parallel park, and back-in, grass between. Pedestal locations vary. Utilities are "ala carte" with electric 20/30/50; no meters. Adequate water pressure with good taste. No sewer at most sites. No patios; some sites get picnic tables. Some sites get fire rings. Poor-to-nonexistent satellite views (tall trees). Some sites get cable TV. OTA TV found 14 channels. Free Wi-Fi but with poor coverage. Verizon phone and 4G at 3 bars. Recycle bottles/cans/aluminum. Noise: No railroad, aircraft, or interstate noise but some local traffic on ME-3 is notable. Bug Report (early July): mosquitoes by the zillions. Runners: CG roads not suitable for running. Yoga: put your mat on the grass if so inclined. Conclusion: Score 5-Acceptable. IMO, overpriced. Heavy rains render some sites unusable. We camped at Mt Desert Narrows Camping Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

From the CG, catch the free #1 bus to the Village Green (Bar Harbor center). Get the bus map from the CG office. Bar Harbor is a quaint, fishing port turned tourist mega-trap. Local stores, restaurants, ice cream shops, gift shops galore, you get the picture. One grocery store on Cottage Drive (Hannaford's grocery). RV shop in Ellsworth (off the island). Gas stations out on ME-3, diesel at Hull Cove $2.989. Avoid driving into Bar Harbor - traffic is horrific and pay for parking everywhere.

$52 / night but we averaged $28 for 4 nights using Passport America. W/E30/I Beautiful level grass site overlooking a lake. Satisfactory open spacing between sites. Downtown Bar Harbor and Cadillac Mountain only about 20 minutes away. Only downside is that internet access was poor. Would definitlely stay here again!!! A very nice park with great wifi and cable tv. Sites are reasonably level and of adequate size. The restrooms and showers are a little dated but kept very clean...except when there are a large number of tent campers using them because it is hard to keep up with the traffic in and out. We were there Labor day weekend, thus lots of tents. A free bus to Bar Harbor runs frequently throughout the day. Beware of the heavy cruise ship days. Labor day four ships unloaded 7,000 passengers downtown. Had to walk in the street to get around. The park is very expensive but I got a 20% veterans discount. Would stay again. Good location for visiting area. Expensive, but this is Bar Harbor in prime tourist season. Large campground with sites of varying size. Our site was pretty level, others were definitely not. Some waterfront sites, but not 50 amp. Sites are close, like all in the area. Good hookups, good 50 amp (hot during our stay so we were thankful) Decent WiFi. Pool was cleaned up while we were here. We didn't use, but it was busy. We camped at Mt Desert Narrows Camping Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Acadia is a gem, but like all the NPs, it is being loved to death. Go early or late to avoid crowds and parking hassles. Good and free shuttle system will take you all over the island. We used it early to go to Bar Harbor for breakfast, look around as the stores were opening and then leave by lunchtime. Cruise ships arrive in the harbor most days and it does get very crowded.

Overall Rating:

This campground has a variety of campsites, including an impressive tent camping area right on the bay. There are also back-in water/electric sites on the water but they are packed in with neighbors right on top of each other. Up away from the water there's a large section of full hookup sites, some 30 and some 50 amp. Unfortunately for us, none of these sites were currently available to people who come in on the Trails Collection program. However, we were given a nice, grassy water/electric 50 amp "parallel parking" site near the activity center and pool. Really, no complaints. We had neighbors in front and behind us but there was room for parking, etc. Our front lawn was somewhat narrow with the road passing by. Again, no complaints. The pool is heated, making it nice even on cooler days. The staff was always friendly and helpful. We enjoyed free ice cream one afternoon and when I asked someone if my fire pit could be cleaned the fellow cheerfully stopped right then and took care of it for me. We really enjoyed having the Island Explorer Shuttle stopping right at the campground. Using the shuttles we could make connections to downtown Bar Harbor and most of the famous spots in the park. The campground WiFi was decent and several sites have cable TV. I had a weaker but usable 4G Verizon signal and got satellite TV with no problem. We camped at Mt Desert Narrows Camping Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

My wife & I stayed here for 8 nights in our 35 ft 5th wheel that we hauled from north FL. Stay 7 nights & get the 8Th night free. We stayed at a pull through 2-way site with a view of the water. The front office staff were very nice & helpful. This is a big Park with lots of various options on what site you can stay at. Some of the sites are quite expensive, but our was fine. We really enjoyed our stay. A great place to enjoy Mt. Desert Island/Acadia NP from. We camped at Mt Desert Narrows Camping Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a large park on Rt. 3 about 5 miles from Acadia. It is an Encore park and accepts Passport America which made the stay much more affordable that neighboring parks. There are all sorts of hook-up options in various combinations. I stayed in a water & electric site with little shade. It was a grass site that overlooked a beautiful bay. My site required multiple leveling blocks as it sloped side-to-side. The site had a fire ring and picnic table. Some sites were totally shaded, graveled, appeared level and had full-hook-ups. Interior roads are paved or gravel.

The swimming pool water was nasty my entire stay of six days, thus the 2 stars for cleanliness. The laundry was clean and the sites/fire pits were picked up. The free wife had multiple wireless connection points. The free Bar Harbor shuttle bus stopped at the park. It was surprising to see a car slowly navigating the park in the early evening selling homemade pies. It was soon followed by an ice cream truck. My rate doesn't reflect the actual rate I paid since I had a mixture of PPA and low & high season rates. We camped at Mt Desert Narrows Camping Resort in a Motorhome.

Oct in Maine, beautiful scenery, right on the water. 2nd day you get a discount.
Level lots, leaking water on several lots.
Had cable tv but I had to jury rig the cable and fitting to use it, the office didn't have a fitting so I used my work experience to get it working.
