A quiet country campground but with some road noise during the day. Asphalt entry including a turn lane which big rigs should ignore. Very cramped up by the office and it pretty much requires dropping the toad as you may have to backup up to proceed into the campground. Interior roads are paved but relatively narrow - potentially difficult for two rigs to pass especially with cars sticking out into the road in places. Mostly level, narrow gravel sites with a mix of backins and pullthrus - feels rather confined given the minimal spacing between sites. Grass between the sites with some sites being heavily shaded and others with full sun. Some of the backins have upgraded patios and wider spacing. Power, water, and sewer ok. Satellite access is entirely site dependent. Campground wifi was extremely erratic, but generally poor with failures to connect to the wap, failures to obtain ip address, repeated disconnects, and only 181Kbps with the campground half full. Verizon 4 bars @ 10.2Mbps (but far less in the early evening); T-Mobile 1 bar @ 5.1Mbps. No recycle on site. OK road bike riding in the campground and the vicinity. We will probably not return. We camped at Shore Hills Campground and RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

The Check-in staff is very businesslike and, at times, borders on rude. It's wham, bam thank you maam ... next? This place stays busy. It's a pretty big park with open sections and sections with many trees. Some treed sites are also on the tidal Black River - which has no water at low tide. There is fair spacing between sites, some better than others. There is no privacy in the open area with a bit more in the wooded areas. Not all sites in the open area are satellite friendly, and they don't seem to know which ones are. We were able to get satellite in site 146. Most sites that we observed are not that level - we had to be satisfied with mostly level. Each site has its own trash can which is nice. They come around each morning to empty your bags which is also nice. They don't remove and replace the liner in the can so if anything falls out of your trash bag it is left to rot in the bottom (think shrimp shells). So bag your trash with care! Cable worked fine. Wi-Fi did not work at all. Verizon was 4g 2 bars so we were able to use our hot spots.. There was some traffic noise but mostly during the day. They have a shuttle that runs 3 times in/out each day to the harbor. There are 2 and 4 hour free parking spots a couple blocks from the harbor plus pay parking closer in. Several pay lots are available that run anywhere from $7-$20 a day. Obviously, this park is convenient to Boothbay Harbor. There is one way in and one way out so be prepared for lots of traffic! Oh and flies ... lots of those boogers! As others have mentioned, it's cash or check only. We camped at Shore Hills Campground and RV Park in a Motorhome.

We were here in 2014 and were happy to return. Gated park which we like and be aware it's cash or check only. We had a great back-in sight with good utlities and good for satelite signal. Roads are paved with grass and gravel sights and mostly level. WiFi doesn't work as it did not in 2014 - we had hot spots. Love the area and the food - would stay here again. site #145. We camped at Shore Hills Campground and RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a very nice and convenient campground if visiting the Boothbay area. Staff helpful and have great information about the area. We were in the 50 amps sites which are in an open area and fairly close to one another. However, these sites have a raised wooden patio-deck and a picnic table which we found a real asset. We would absolutely stay here again. One thing to be aware of is that the accept checks and cash but no credit cards. We camped at Shore Hills Campground and RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We took our scooters (mopeds) and really enjoyed sightseeing in town and zipping around the coast line. We visited the Maine Botanical Gardens which were a few miles from the campground and thoroughly enjoyed it. The RR Museum across the street looked interesting but we ran out of time. We enjoyed hearing the train whistles during the day.

Very nice family owned and run park. 30 amp sites are generally wooded sites with good separation between sites, 50 amp sites are in an open field area. We were in the 50 amp area. Plenty of room to maneuver a big rig, sites are long enough for our 43 ft MH and our full sized pickup. But the sites are pretty close, side to side. They have a shuttle to town of you don't want to drive your car and pay for parking. Interior roads are paved, sites are gravel. Park was full and the weather was hot and voltage stayed, even so, voltage was always right around 120v. We camped at Shore Hills Campground and RV Park in a Motorhome.

A nice campground with large, level gravel sites. There are many sites in a wooded area, but they only have 30 amp electrical service. The 50 amp sites are in a large open area. Many of the back-in sites have a small deck with a picnic table. Each site has a trash can that is emptied daily. Note that there is a $50 nonrefundable reservation deposit required and they only accept cash or checks - NO credit cards. We camped at Shore Hills Campground and RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The CG is an easy drive into Boothbay Harbor, but parking in town can be tricky, be patient. On the way into town just before the traffic circle is a little fish fry shack - Bett's Fish Fry. She serves fried Haddock and fries, nothing else. The large fish & fries order is perfect for 2 people. In Boothbay be sure to take a walk on the foot bridge across the end of the harbor. On Thursdays there is a farmer's market in the grassy park area near the traffic circle.

Just an OK park. Not worth the price.. Bathrooms are very rustic. Large pull thrus and backins. Our site was number 148. It was really hard to level. It had a bad front to back and side to side tilt. . Close to Boothbay, they also have a shuttle for 3.00. We camped at Shore Hills Campground and RV Park in a Motorhome.

Super clean park. Newer 50 amp pull through and back in sites are in a cleared area so satellite should be no problem. Sites are very long. 30 amp and smaller RVs can be in the trees and near the water. Lots of trash cans everywhere. Fenced in dog park was big but the fence and gate were flimsy. We have small dogs so it wasn’t a problem. They have a shuttle to Boothbay Harbor but it’s easy to find parking in the off season. Early June is still the off season so lots of things are still closed. We camped at Shore Hills Campground and RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

We stayed seven nights at Shore Hills in a 40' motorhome. The park is incredibly spacious and well laid out. Lots of areas for hikes within the park including their island to the tidal river. We stayed in the 50 amp section with full utilities including cable with over 60 channels. There are individual trash cans at each site. Lots of distance between sites on the side and in back. We really enjoyed walking through the park with our dogs looking the various sections of the park. The folks in the office are great to work with and the park is spotless. Wifi was not useable most of the time which is disappointing because they had a number of different access points. We were able to hotspot off both ATT and Verizon phones. The only complaint was we were present at the same time of a Liberty Coach rally during which a detail service was busy for the first 4 days power washing the participating coaches. It was loud and constant. The rally participants were all extremely nice and seemed to be having a blast. Would definitely return to this park with the caveat of finding out if they are hosting another rally at the time, as they have several each season. We camped at Shore Hills Campground and RV Park in a Motorhome.

Loved it! This is one of the nicest campgrounds we have stayed in. The place is not huge, which is a plus, the facilities don't include much for kids which is a plus for us, less kids. The site were private and spacious. The grounds were clean and pretty. The staff was very pleasant. We stayed 4 nights and tried to stay an extra but called out for a funeral back home. The reasons I did not give it a 10: 1. Wifi only worked around the campstore. 2. The bathhouse could have been nicer. They weren't bad, but they weren't great and they charged for showers. Would definitely go back for a stay! We camped at Shore Hills Campground and RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Our site was in the wooded section. The fully wooded spaces are wider there and afforded more privacy than the big rig area. Paved roads. Very nice. Good dog walking CG even has a trail onto a very small island. Showers cost a quarter per five minutes. Trash cans conveniently located at every site. We would return. This is a surprisingly nice campground. The campground is older but the owners keep it spotless! My kids enjoyed playing on the small older playground. We had a pull through, full hookup site which was out in the open and the sites were very close to the next. It was all large motor homes in these sites except for us! There are much nicer, shaded sites under trees but they are only water and electric. I used the laundry room here and it was very clean. No change machine, so you will have to get quarters from the camp store. They offer good Sam and AAA discount. Only a handful of seasonal sand they were removed from the rest of the campground. Very close to Boothbay Harbor and many other things to do in the area. The best restaurant on our 12 days in Maine was Robinson's Wharf in nearby Southport! You can watch the lobster men haul their catch right to the restaurant! The fried haddock sandwich was the best fish sandwich I ever had!

Camped in Big Rig section in pull-thru site. Very long sites with plenty of space for any size motorhome and car. Our site had a really nice raised wooden patio with table which was great for sitting out. Roads were very nicely paved and sites were mostly level. Only problem was the WiFi. Never worked well the entire week at any time of day. The water pressure was weak, but was fine with the water pump turned on to supplement it in the coach. The roads inside the Big Rig section were wide and easy to navigate, but the exit from the park was very tight. Overall the park was great and would definitely return. Boothbay Railway Village located almost across the street has an amazing antique car collection. Puffin Nature Cruise on Cap'n Fish's Pink Lady II was great. Blue Moon Café on the Boothbay Harbor waterfront had awesome blueberry pie! Went back a second time just to get the pie. Mine Oyster Raw Bar and Gathering Place has amazing oysters and clams, raw and steamed!

We were in the shaded area of the park which was great. Nice space between sites. The bathrooms are old but clean. One shower by the office and two showers by the tent sites. Beautiful marsh sites too. Ladies at the desk were rather grumpy, maybe when we stayed they were having a bad week. We were lucky to have a FHU site.
