This is a rustic campground in a beautiful setting. It's more than a little outdated in terms of site size, restrooms, etc. The park looks like, at one time, it had a lot of care. But that is no longer true. Too bad. The river is beautiful. The road in is awful and dangerous. Maine should do better than this. - MaineDon

This park is great for anyone with a tent or small camper that wants the wilderness experience. We found the access, 9 miles of narrow & rough dirt road, unacceptable for any motorhome. It took us 45 minutes just to safely navigate the road and now are a muddy mess. I did not see any place along the road that we could turn around or even enough room to pull to the side if we met another camper. The staff were extremely friendly and I do hope for the future of this city park. - ChuckA

Beautiful place way out in the country away from internet, cell signal, satellite dish reception. This is the place to go if you want to unplug completely. Mosquitoes!!! OMG the mosquitoes are horrible. The staff was very friendly and the place is well run. The sites are huge. It's like you have your own little world tucked back in to your site surrounded on 3 sides by woods. All the roads are dirt so it can be very dusty when rigs or cars are going by. The 'pond' is beautiful. The camp host takes you out on a pontoon boat ride for free....just because he likes to go out on the pond as often as possible. Take advantage of the offer. Its a great ride around the lake. They call it a pond, but it is a good size lake. Did I mention mosquitoes? EGads! I don't think we would go back because we don't like to unplug totally and we really don't like mosquitoes. But, it is a gorgeous place and most people would love it. - jomark

A great getaway in Great Pond, ME. Camping in the Maine woods, with a beautiful lake in view. The rec center has free wifi, which is helpful as we didn't have any cell phone coverage at all (Sprint and T-Mobile). Rec Center has a variety of games to entertain the kids, as well as a lit fire to ready by. You can rent boats as well. No sewer, so plan accordingly. We would definitely be back. - RVerFamily
