This is a township managed campsite located on Flagstaff Lake. The campground features huge campsites located among tall red pine trees. The settling is absolutely beautiful! It is very well run with multiple bathrooms and showers that are cleaned daily. There are very inexpensive boat and paddle board rentals ($10 for 6 hours), both adult and children rec rooms, playground, and beach. The area has great kayaking and hiking. The campground roads are very narrow and you have to drive slowly and carefully through the trees to many sites. Our site was very difficult to back into due to trees along the roadside. Reservations are necessary and bring supplies as shopping is limited. We camped at Cathedral Pines Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Hike in the nearby Bigelow Reserve. Kayak the south branch of the Dead River. You can take a chairlift up Sugarloaf Mountain. Quebec is 23 miles north.

Year #9 of staying at (or using the facilities at) this beautiful campground the 4th weekend in September! Every year seems to be just a bit better! Clean, well run facility. Don't expect rocking fast internet, wonderful cell reception (depending on your carrier) or satellite TV (due to trees) but do expect a well groomed lot and pleasant staff. The campground sells wood and ice. If you need something, ask the staff - they are local and know the area. We camped at Cathedral Pines Campground in a Motorhome.

The nearby Pines Market has about anything else you could want. Lots of trails to walk, boat launch and beach. If you are a Geocacher, the local cache locations can sure show you the area - from water paddles to mountain hikes!

Overall Rating:

Most of the sites are very large and private, especially the ones further away from the water. All of the roads were paved and smooth. Some of the interior roads are very narrow with large trees on either side but I was able to pull my 30' TT through no problem. Our site was very quiet, the nearest site was 50 yards away and the constant breeze through the tall majestic pines provided great natural sound dampening. This is a remote area so there are no TV channels, 2-3 radio stations, and mobile service is somewhat limited. WiFi is available at the office and rec hall. You won't have much luck with satellite either due to the tall trees. Flagstaff is a beautiful, clean lake and we really enjoyed kayaking on it. Can't say enough good about this gem! We camped at Cathedral Pines Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Pines market (next to campground) has everything you will need. Make sure you get to Quill Hill in Dallas Plantation, worth the $10 vehicle fee. Lots of trails for hikers and ATVs in the area too. If you bring a motor boat watch for hazards, Flagstaff is not very deep and there are plenty of submerged hazards with no markers, take it slow.

Great for big rigs and families. Well groomed campground with large wooded sites that are separated nicely. Water and Electric (50 amp available) with central dump station. Gas station/store within walking distance has most anything you want (fresh steaks to alcohol). Very reasonable kayak and canoe rentals. Great beach and swimming area. No ATT cell service and most sites cannot view satellites for TV. Good free WiFi hot spot at office. We camped at Cathedral Pines Campground in a Motorhome.

This is one of the nicest campgrounds we've ever utilized. The setting is pristine as is the maintenance of the park. Staff were very friendly. The price listed above does not include a $5 per night for a lake view. We choose this option. Sites 61, 64, 21 and 25 offered the most unrestricted view of the water. There is a lovely hike (you do not have to be a guest to use it) through these lovely tall pines (80 feet+). The length is approximately 2 miles and it's a wide, flat, unobstructed path. We camped at Cathedral Pines Campground in a Travel Trailer.

This is a hidden gem! Pulled in here late on a Saturday afternoon around 4:30 just hoping for a spot for the night. The very nice lady in the office gave us a site directly across from the office overlooking the lake. Although this site is actually outside the gate of the campground there are several sites at this location and we could not have been happier. We liked it so much we stayed over for two additional nights. If you like quiet, this a fantastic place. All the sites are spacious although only about 10 out of the 109 have sewer. If this park had 50 amp service and full hookups everywhere it would definitely warrant a 10. We would highly recommend this park. We camped at Cathedral Pines Campground in a Motorhome.

This is a very nice campground. We would not camp here again because it is so isolated. The campsites are huge and many will accommodate several units or tents. Even with lots of people on a site there was no excessive noise. Great place for large groups. We camped at Cathedral Pines Campground in a Travel Trailer.

I don't hand out 10's but this place so deserves the 9. The campsites are huge. They are surrounded by trees so each site is divided. When we told the desk clerk we had kids, they placed us right next to the playground. The playground equipment is brand new and safe. There are two rec halls, one for kids and one for adults. Free crafting corner for kids. the roads are paved and level. My pet peeve is dirty bathrooms and there was no worries here. Showers were free and clean. The lake is beautiful. We stayed in the fall so swimming was not an option, but the colors were unreal! This is the nicest campground we have ever stayed in and I highly recommend it!! We camped at Cathedral Pines Campground in a Tent Trailer.

This is a great campground deep in a large red pine forest. Large private sites with great hiking trails an a fantastic waterfront, great for boating and swimming. There is not much in the area but this is a fantastic getaway spot. We will return. We camped at Cathedral Pines Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

Beautiful heavily wooded campground on Flagstaff Lake with some lovely large water front sites (water view, not really water access), we had #65 which has a narrow approach and the utilities on the left side so we just pulled straight in for a great view from our front windows. We have a 30 ft class A and found the road in the campground to be a bit narrow and tightly lined with trees in places but manageable. The sites not on the water are also large and wooded; they looked level, the surfaces are sort of sandy dirt. Most sites have water and electric and the campground has three dump stations. Staff on check in was friendly and helpful. They spray for biting insects which no doubt helps but it doesn't mean you leave the bug spray at home. Very nice park overall. We camped at Cathedral Pines Campground in a Motorhome.
