After having spent a couple of months in two different family-friendly RV parks, we found Pumpkin Patch RV Park to be a WONDERFULLY QUIET respite...definitely geared more for adults, as there is no pool or other activities toward which families with children gravitate. (There is a grassy play area with ladder toss and cornhole.) Check-in was efficiently accomplished by friendly staff - we were escorted to our site by a staff member; the easily-navigable roads and wide, level sites within the park are gravel. Sites include a picnic table and are nicely spaced, with grass between. Although some sites are fairly tree-covered, most will allow the use of a roof-mounted satellite. We requested a site with no tree cover, so we could use our satellite, and were graciously accommodated. There is a group meeting center (we enjoyed a couple of ice-cream socials), two laundry facilities, restrooms/showers, and a dog exercise area within the park. Located at the entrance of the park is a restaurant, which at the time of our stay was almost completed and soon to open. While staying at Pumpkin Patch, we visited Acadia National Park and Bangor, Maine. - HRTravelers

We stayed here twice. They went above expectations on service. We needed to store some guns before going into Canada. We called other RV Parks, Gun shops, and storage units. Pumpkin Patch was the only ones that very willingly helped us out, locked them in a safe, and did not charge us anything. - LeeAnn Magel

The site was level with central hook ups. Wifi worked great at the site as did the cable. The workampers were very helpful. Restrooms were very clean. - Al and Anne-Marie

We stayed here in a motorhome. Roads are good and our site had full hook ups. Park is quiet except for the occasional airplane from Bangor airport. Wifi was slow as in most parks we visit. Park was clean and well maintained. - RayN
Jun 2017 - $38.00
The facilities for laundry and restrooms were not acceptable at all. The "activity room" looked more like a storage room with a sofa, tv, pool table and video games scattered about. But the mop and mop bucket along with other cleaning tools and equipment, were just sitting around in there as well. The roads need some work, but were not terrible. The sites themselves are close together and grass and/or mud only. This park accepts Vouchers from the City of Bangor for the homeless. So you have tenters camping anywhere from 25 yards and sometimes closer next to expensive rigs. There was no enforcement of their own rules, i.e. pet leashes, speed limit, noise, etc. The grass at the entry and in the middle of the park is mowed often and well kept, but maintenance around the rigs, was spotty. Internet was iffy, sometime on, sometime off and when on, extremely slow. - Drtskirt
Aug 2012 - $32.00
This is the second year we've stayed here on our way to and from New Brunswick. The management here is very friendly and the all the facilities are very well kept. I see some very trivial complaints in the reviews and wonder why the negative comments. It's supposed to be a campground not the Hilton. - johnny ringo

Great campground with plenty of amenities. Large spaces that are slightly sloped, but we had no problem getting level. The seasonal campsites are not junky like like they are at so many private campgrounds. They have games and books available in the laundry. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Clear skies for pointing our satellite dish. We got great TMobile service and the campground has really good free wifi. Great location to explore Bangor, and an easy day trip to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park (about 40 miles). - Chuck Shrader
Jul 2018 - $40.00
Good, clean, calm, park, with no demerits. FHU, good wifi, some OTA channels, open skies for satellite, level gravel pull-thru sites that were plenty long and far enough from the neighbors, RV repair and supply shop next door, and a good base for exploring Bangor or a day trip to Bar Harbor and Acadia. The staff and neighbors were all friendly and relaxed --- "sure you can check out an hour later" --- that kinda thing. - darwinmoore
Sep 2017 - $41.00
Great base from which to explore Bar Harbor while avoiding the crowds in the campgrounds there. Spacious sites stepping down a slight hill, had a bit of an issue leveling but it worked out. All utilities worked well, including wifi, and I was out in the open so my satellite worked. Would definitely stay here again. Be forwarned that taking a large RV into Bar Harbor itself could be challenging due to the narrow streets and the crowds, even in the off season. - ldukeb

Great location near Harvey's RV where we took RV for repair when transfer switch blew. Just a few minutes off highway. Lots of green space and room between sites. Quiet and peaceful setting. Playground, not sure about doggie park but if anyone needs a clean, pretty site near Harvey's, highly recommend. Not too far from Maine Mall, restaurants, supermarkets, shopping although I did not see anything right around park. - Andrea W
Aug 2018 - $38.00
I have been staying here for more than 12 years every summer on our trek South in the USA. This campground is my favorite because it is cozy. It's friendly, clean, the owner is fantastic, and they will provide great service for whatever you need. The planes come in on a regular basis which the kids love!!! If you need a nice spot to hang for a few days and enjoy Banjor/Hermon, give these folks the business. As an RV'ER....it is a great spot! - Squappy
Oct 2017 - $34.00
We stayed in our new to us trailer while our adult kids and friends stayed in the rental trailer - top notch campground! We have camped here a few time over the years and always enjoy this campground the most out of the other in the Bangor area. Owners are great and take good care of the campground. - daniel31

We stayed here twice; once on the way into Canada and again on our return. Very nice camp and super staff. Our first visit we only had water & electricity and the site was a bit tight but on the return trip we had a full-hookup pull through and it was great. The only tricky thing is turning left into the campground from the road as it's very busy. We were there in off-season but they have a nice store and looks like a cafe. - Catsinatrailer
Aug 2017 - $42.00
We had a great stay even if it were only one night. Would love to come back. Good WiFi. Staff was very helpful. Sites were a little close but nothing compared to many campgrounds. Baths were clean. - morrison
Aug 2017 - $40.00
The owners plan on more upgrading. They need to have a better cleaning of the showers and restrooms. The bath mats were filthy and were never moved the entire 6 nights we were here. The electric service was weak. Couldn't run ac and microwave at the same time. Water hook up and electric plug are located at the front of the sites so unless you have a very long cord or an extension cord you can't utilize the nice long spaces. Dump station is a little tricky to get to but easy to use. - Rkserv

Jul 2017 - $20.00
We stayed for 4 nights. Some nights the traffic noise from I-95 was really noticeable and other nights not so much. This is a small park with some seasonals and one section with about 5 pull thrus 1 of which seems to be a seasonal. There are 2 chickens, 1 cat, 1 old dog and a duck with a hurt leg that roam around. There is 1 washer and 1 dryer in the same building as the bathrooms. The pull thrus were fairly level and grassy and I was able to get my Direct TV dish locked in. The road the park is on is pretty rough. - mrracechaser
Jul 2017 - $20.00
Good overnight transit stay. It is about 2 miles from the interstate exit on rough secondary roads, but is reasonably quiet even though the interstate is not far away. Chickens, duck, cat plus a very friendly host made for an interesting stop. No frills ... just a good transit stop. We would stay again. Arriving near dark, the mosquitoes were present and hungry. - cherib
Jul 2015 - $30.00
Lots of full time run down sites. The manager was OK but the office etc was a mess. Tiny pool. One washer and dryer. The restrooms were clean but run down. $30 as weekend but I'm not sure I'd even stay here at the half price Passport America rate. - kiwitravelers

Oct 2018 - $42.00
We stayed here in October 2018 in a travel trailer near the end of their season. The owner led us to our site and the owners were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The park was decked out in fall colors, so despite the rain, it was a lovely place to stay. The staff was busy making improvements to the park when we were there so it will only get better. They also have a nice trail through the woods behind the park that our dog loved to run through. We did not use the showers or laundry, but we did have them fill our propane tanks. There is an area for seasonal campers. We were there in the off-season, but it looks like a very nice family campground with lots for kids to do. We would definitely stay there again. - Dahna
Sep 2018 - $37.00
Very nice, helpful and friendly owners who directed us to our large, shady pull-thru site. All hookups worked well. Very good WIFI. Good cable TV until cable company made changes that eliminated the cable. But there were lots of OTA channels available. Laundry/rec building was clean with 2 washers and 2 dryers, a TV, a large table, comfy chairs and lots of books and puzzles. The campground has a nice pool, small store and sells propane. There is short hiking trail near the back of the campground. In addition to RV sites there are several really nice tent sites. Sites are back from the road so there is little road noise. It is quite quiet and peaceful at night. The roads within the park are gravel and easy to maneuver although there are a few potholes. The grass is kept neatly mowed. Good Sam discount is available. - MkvCjv

Wonderful people, very accommodating. Quiet site, roomy. Rustic and wild turkey's wandered by while we were eating dinner. This park is open late (December) and early (March) for snowbirder's. - pwaygood

We stayed here in a 40' MH. The dirt road into the park was long with huge ruts you cannot avoid, resulting in a bone-jarring trip into and out of the park. Interior roads were dirt in poor condition with tight turns, lots of trees to watch for, and potholes. There was no gate into the park and no security.
Hookups: We were told when we made our reservation that only 30 amp sites were available. No problem, we can still use an AC on 30 amps. Except that the 30 amp site didn't generate enough power to keep our shore power running. With nothing running but our refrigerator, we had to unhook completely at night and run off our batteries otherwise the sound of the surge protector kicking on and off kept us awake. The campground manager walked to within ten feet of the electrical pedestal to "inspect" it and told us there had never been a complaint and there was nothing he could do (other campers we talked with told us that the park is well known for having poor electrical service.) The manager moved us to another site but we had the same low-to-no voltage. This had never happened before to us and hasn't happened since, so it wasn't a problem with our coach. Although sometimes water pressure was weak, we had no problem with the sewer hookup.
From Friday to Sunday it was party city with smoky campfires and loud music. The smoke was so bad we kept our windows shut but because it was still hot at night, the temperatures in the coach soared. People let their dogs bark at every passerby. Weekends were hell. The police showed up one afternoon to arrest some drug dealers in their RV and all afternoon there were officers with AK-47s walking through the park.
Site conditions: Sites were mostly filled with seasonal campers and were very close to one another. Site surfaces were dirt and grass was minimal. There's a general feeling of neglect. At night the only light were from the many campfires; there was no campground lighting.
The good: Check-in was fast and easy. Staff was friendly. The campground was set right on beautiful Pushaw Lake and there was a boat launch. The sunsets were very pretty. Kayaks were available for rental. Free Wi-Fi was available in the office. While the signal did not reach any of the campsites, a picnic table was set outside the office for those who wanted to bring their computers to utilize it. - Trisha_slp
Sep 2015 - $42.00
We stayed one night while in transit. I would stay here again, even though it is a little over priced. Approach roads to and within this park is the worst I have ever encountered, they are terrible!!!! Many sites have permanent trailers, though most were well kept. The laundry consists of 2 washers and 2 driers, so expect to wait your turn. This park is right on the lake. - R V Camper
Jul 2013 - $34.00
Camp ground has lots of seasonal sites with older units parked on them. Years of additions, decks, and out side attachments which makes the area "cluttered" looking. Assigned a site to us that was very difficult to put a 39' RV in due to the many trees in the area. There were other sites available that would have been easier to set up in. The lady on the phone was very friendly and accommodating, but the lady who checked us in gave us "no" greeting, was not busy, but gave us the impression that we were putting her out by having to check us in. Lots of dusty dirt pot hole filled roads around and many tent sites with high grass conditions. This is an older camp ground that appears to be getting run down. We would NOT return to the C/G. - Lakeside013104

Nice park. Nice owner who went out of her way to make our trip a good one. Tight spaces hard to back into spots. Looks like majority of park is seasonal. Extremely quiet and relaxing. We were there late so many activities were no longer active. - Matt7571
Jun 2017 - $50.00
We can't say enough nice things about our stay. The manager/owners made us very welcome, and did their absolute best to help make our stay a delight. Park is clean and neat, not big, pet and family friendly. They guided us to our site and helped guide us while backing the trailer into our space. The location is quiet, central and fairly close to lots of great Maine attractions, including Bar Harbor/Acadia. This makes it nice for day trips to go exploring. One example - we stopped at the office to buy firewood. VERY reasonably priced, but most amazing, they delivered it to our site within 5 minutes! I've never had that happen before. - RamjetPA

Aug 2010 - $45.00
This review is pretty useless at this point, because the owners are retiring after this season, which is almost already over. The campground is quaint and rustic, the grounds very clean and the owners pleasant enough. The campground sits on a lake (Toddy Pond) and the owners have some small canoes and a rowboat that you can use for free (no oars for the rowboat, though, and only one canoe paddle). If you bring your own boat you will need a special sticker from the town of Orland ($20), and the fishing licenses are expensive for out-of-towners. The location is convenient, about 50 minutes from Bangor and Bar Harbor/Acadia National Park, only a few miles to Bucksport, and about 15 minutes from Fort Knox and the Penobscot Bridge Observatory. We rode our motorcycle up Coastal Route 1 from here for a nice day trip including Machias and the lighthouse at Lubec, with many more sites to see along the way. Detracting from the campground is its proximity to Route 1 and the constant drone of traffic, no WiFi or CATV if you care about such things, and worst of all only 20 amp service, meaning no running of air conditioners in RVs. Maybe that's not normally a big deal in Maine, but we happened to visit when the temperatures set records for heat, making for some very uncomfortable nights. Also, the owner commented about me walking around with an open bottle of beer, mumbling something about state laws. I didn't know state laws applied to private property. The owners sell firewood, but no other camping supplies at all. Not even ice, although I was offered a handful for free. We don't have kids going with us, so it's hard for us to judge, but there seems to be absolutely nothing for kids to do, so I would think this is not a family oriented campground. In fact, most of the campers were older couples. They do allow dogs, however, even though we were yelled at for our dogs barking during one of our daily excursions (in noisy campgrounds with closely spaced sites such as this one we normally leave all our windows closed with the AC running so our dogs are isolated, but again, only 20amp service. Our dogs don't bark unless provoked and we returned to find people on our site.) In all of the years camping with our dogs, this is the FIRST time we ever had a problem. Several days there was a pronounced sewer smell in our fresh water, even though we always run our water through 2 filters. And finally, they only accept cash or checks, if that matters to you. So, the location was pretty good, the price was reasonable, even without Internet or cable, BUT not being able to use our AC was a deal breaker for us. We would not return (if they were to still exist after this season) unless they made some MAJOR upgrades. - gmanfan1966
