Sep 2018 - $21.00
$42 per night but averaged $21 for 3 night stay with Passport America discount. W/E50/S/C/I Open gravel level sites on top of a hill with nice spacing between sites. A nice touch was flower pots hanging a each site's picnic table. Rangeley, Oqossoc, Height of Land all less than 1 hour away and worth the drive! Would definitely stay here again!!! - Teddi2
Aug 2017 - $21.00
We paid $21.25 a night, which was the Passport Rate of $19.50 plus tax. First impression here was that the place is a bit rough around the edges. But we were pleasantly surprised once we pulled into our site and setup. Sites 41 thru 58 are in an open area and are mostly level pull thru sites with 50 amp full hookups and cable. The cable lineup was pretty limited which was nice as we did not have to scroll thru all the normal crap you get. No ESPN, but they did have NESN and the weather channel. The wifi was so so, at times the connection kept dropping making it unusable. But 2 of our 3 mornings here it was ok. The site was mostly gravel with a high sand content, so it got a bit messy after it raind. It also had a nice picnic table with some hanging flowers on one end. Interior roads are rough gravel, but we had no problems getting in or out. The office doubles as variety store and also serves food at very reasonable prices. We would gladly come back next time we are in the area. - Bob and Inga
May 2017 - $21.00
We stayed overnight in a 40' Fifth Wheel on a level site. Passport America rate is cash only which we weren't informed of at the time we made the reservation. We would stay here again. - FunTimes123

The roads into the park are easy to navigate, the roads in the park are good but have a few pot holes so go slow. Check in was fast and friendly. The camp is well maintained and very quiet. It sits on the Androscoggin River and they offer tubing and kayaking tours. There are trails in the park for walking and a suspension bridge that will take you over the river to explore an island. We were in Site 20, a level gravel site with full hook ups and no issues with any of them. The sites are buddy sites, but they are wide and angle so that you are not on top of each other. There is a picnic table and a fire ring. Did not use laundry or bathrooms but both are available. We stayed July 19-26, 2018 and paid $46 a night with no discount. They offer Passport America on weeknights but you need to pay in cash and we weren't prepared to do that. - BarrettsHappyTrails
Sep 2017 - $35.00
Spent 1 night here and had no complaints. There weren't many other campers there, so when we sat out at night around a campfire we didn't see anyone else. Very nice and relaxing. The pull thru sight was level and the hook-ups were fine. A little pricey I thought because the tax brought it up $3.75 to $38.75, but a nice campground that I could recommend without reservations. - villager04
Sep 2017 - $40.00
This is the second time that we stayed here. The first time was about 7 years ago. It is a good location to stay while traveling through the area. There is a bike/ped path right by the campground but it is only about 1 1/2 miles long. Good for a stroll, but too short for a bike ride. The sites are side by side but when we were here it was the off season and they were only using every other one so it wasn't an issue. - VtLee

We just visited the park for our 3rd year in a row to enjoy the clean-up weekend. The owner's are great people and super hosts. We enjoyed our stay and the lake is still wonderful with great views of the mountains. The campground is clean, the seasonal are very friendly and the sites have modern hookups. I would suggest this park. - mwebber78

May 2007 - $35.00
We camped here in the early Spring. Very nice camp hosts, and the campground is tidy and clean. I thought the views from the lake were spectacular and the sounds of loons at night were very nice. The only downside is the train tracks on the road side of the campground, the train does get a bit loud. However I wouldn't say it was a big deal and is obviously something the owners have no control of and during the summer I would think the tree's would buffer the sound more (Spring, were no leaves). - mwebber78

Friendly, welcoming owners. Plenty of shade. Clean bathrooms and showers. Bathroom and showers are small but functional. Cleanliness more important to me than size. Level sites. Sandy soil than drained quickly in rain. No laundry but owners planning to add another bathhouse with laundry. - gasolinebutt
Jun 2018 - $40.00
This is a nice family-owned and operated campground. The owners are terrific, and made sure our stay was comfortable and convenient. We stayed for a week in one of the pull-throughs in the front gravel area because of our size (45' fifth wheel and Freightliner) and it was perfect. We could have fit in a few of the sites back in the treed area, but they're only 30-amp and no sewer, while the pull-throughs have full hook-ups and 50-amp. Not very many people there during our stay, the real season hadn't started for them yet because kids were still in school. Close to the Androscoggin River, they rent canoes and kayaks and will transport you and pick you up. We were able to pick up one OTA TV channel. The largest rigs will fit as long as they have room in the appropriately-sized sites for you. We would stay here again if we travel through that area. - Denise and Glenn

Lovely setting for an old-fashioned camp. A shame that trailers block gorgeous view of the lake for those across the street. Some sites have their own sandy beach; pretty trees; and good fire rings. We weren't so lucky. Avoid sp. 57. We stayed 1 night, but paid $99.73 for 3. Original Restrooms closest to us were clean but without simple amenities found in forest camps, like a shelf over sinks. Disappointed we couldn't rent a boat; no explanation or offer to contact us when one became available. Water faucet & electric hookup were on opposite ends of sp 57. I was promised a site in A loop, but reservation system and e-mails did not match. - pakngo
Jul 2015 - $30.00
This campground is in a remote location. When you enter the grounds the road is gravel, hilly and narrow. With that said, I loved this campground. The camp store has only the basics and fishing tackle. The site are wooded with electric and water only...and the generator shuts the electric off around 11 pm til 7 am. The people are friendly and Richardson lake is spectacular . almost very site has lake view. They rent kayaks , row boats and have a small beach area... - Winnebago Wanderers
Jul 2007 - $24.00
My family and I are from Oklahoma City Area. We spent 3-4 days at the campground 2 years ago. It was the best vacation that we have ever had the people where very helpful and went out of there way to help you. I would highly recommend this campground to any one in the area or come to the state of Maine. The place is well kept and has organized activities for the kids. I would recommend that you stock up on supplies before arriving. They do have a small country store but it tends to get a little expensive if you have to keep buying things over and over again. Also the country store has homemade snacks everyday it was super esp the moon pies. - gill73115

Like other reviewers, we needed a spot to get off the road and had a pleasant night's stay here. The transient sites are in a big grassy field. The laundry was very clean. The lady who checked us in was easily confused and had difficulty giving us directions. She dated our receipt in August instead of June. Bring cash or check to pay. - ShoreXplorers
Oct 2017 - $30.00
Having some delays in Bangor, I had considered stopping earlier than planned, but we continued on to Dixfield anyway. Calling ahead, the lady said that the office would likely be closed on arrival but to just pick a site and come in the next morning. We don't usually arrive after dark, but this was easy to find and the short term sites were in a large level grassy area with lots of room. Finding a site couldn't have been easier. A seasoned couple own this place and couldn't have been nicer. They don't accept plastic, so bring cash. The WiFi and other utilities worked well. We didn't find any local OTA channels. There are a number of seasonal sites back in the woods. - Trailbuddy
Aug 2017 - $30.00
We found this campground on the fly, and couldn't have been happier. We just needed a spot for the night and it delivered. Full hookup (no cable) in a big grassy field. Clean bathrooms, private showers, pool, quiet at night, view of nearby "mountains," friendly management, etc. While the campground has even nicer sites for seasonal campers, of which there were several, ours was great for a few nights. We'll visit again if in the area. - jerry6

Hastings is a great little campground with about 25 quiet and private sites. Water is limited to a hand pump and there are two vault toilets. There is no dumping station. I highly recommend this campground if you like fly fishing, hiking and are looking for a place that is a quiet, natural setting in the woods. - Cherylac

Jul 2018 - $70.00
Huge old-fashioned campground. Wide range of site selections, many with nice kitchens & bathrooms all your own, complete with shower. Wooded sites seem like a State park rather than private camp and many are far away from roadway. Place is great for kids with resort-like activities, snack shack, and of course the Pond and Pool. The latter was great. Not impressed with the Pond. - pakngo
Jul 2017 - $95.00
I went here as a child nearly 50 years ago, and then took my kids 20 years ago. We stayed this time as we had a nearby event to attend. This is an old fashioned campground, which can be a plus and also a minus. We found that much of the public space and equipment is very dated and need of attention. The bathrooms really need to be re-done. They were clean, but there is only so much you can do with bleach. Playgrounds and mini-golf both are neglected. Much of the equipment needs to be replaced. For such a large campground, they don't really have enough space to accommodate all guests at the pond beaches and/or pool. The pool is very small and is divided into 3 sections, so it is impossible to swim laps. The rental equipment (boats etc) are in really poor condition and are way overdue to be replaced. The campground itself is laid out on either side of a busy road. It requires you to be crossing frequently if you want to participate in activities. There are no cross walks nor warning lights to slow traffic. There is a good deal of heavy truck traffic. This combined with many children on bikes is unnerving. The sites are very large and trees and bushes have been left between them giving some decent privacy. It was a little dicey maneuvering our 38' Fifth wheel around. Many of the old pines are tipped in at the top, which is tough for a big rig. We usually require 50 amp service, but they only offer 30. Luckily we didn't need to run the A/C except for one night. We shut everything else down in the camper. WiFi is only available by the store, and it is horribly slow and insufficient. Coupled with poor cell phone reception because of the mountains, it made staying in touch difficult. I think with a decent amount of reinvestment and modernization this could really be a great destination. - Nana and Gumpy
Jun 2015 - $36.00
This is a nice "old fashion" type of campground. Lots of choices in cabins and sites, some with bathrooms on the site. Staff and manager are great, always willing to talk. Campground offers plenty to do if you wish or you can just enjoy sitting back and relaxing. The campground is split by a road but the road noise is not bad. This was our 2nd year in a row going the first weekend in June. Not too much in the area unless you drive 30 minutes or so. Store was well stocked with anything you would need. Will return at some point. - Happy Camper X2

Mount Blue State Park was the first stop on our week-long ME-NH-VT camping trip. The drive was long but interesting. Once you get off I-95, it's another 1.5 hours out. Nice to look around and see the small towns then the scenery as you get closer. Our site was very nice and the loop was well occupied (this was the last week in August). No road noise at all, and you truly feel secluded and out in the wilderness. The park staff was very helpful and friendly. The campground has a sewer dump at the end of the loops, and water spigots and bathrooms were well-placed. The bathrooms were clean. We visited the beach area which is just a short hike from either of the loops. The best part of the trip was the hiking. We took the Brook trail up to beautiful Tumbledown Pond and had lunch there. We also took a drive out to nearby Smalls Falls on the second day. - NTL1991
Aug 2017 - $24.00
Clearly a Gem! Huge park with multitude of activities for families and campers of all types. Super helpful Park employees who gave us extra info on hiking and maps of the region. Very pretty lakeshore with lifeguard, places to picnic and stretch out on clean, pet-free, grass. Our space was fabulous - very clean, nice table and good fireplace with a grill. Can't wait to return in the Fall when the leaves turn. - pakngo
Sep 2009 - $19.00
Mt. Blue State Park in Weld, Maine is in the western part of the state with mountains around it. The drive is interesting to get there, but follow the signs as well as a GPS. This is the third time we have camped here, but have not been back in over ten years. The camping sites are located in three loops all within a short hike to Webb Lake where one can boat, fish, swim, picnic and hike. There are 136 campsites – some are huge in loop two and three, but one should check out their site for low hanging branches, but there are sites for big rigs. The roads around the loops are small and narrow though. Since it was a Sunday night and in September we were able grab a host site right next to their new bathroom and shower complex. The pit toilets are still around the campground, but this new complex is very nice and clean. There is no electric or water hookups, but most of the sites are quite private. Plenty of hiking trails, and the lake is beautiful! It is a good stopover and a quiet place to spend a night or two when traveling. Others like to come up for a week or two during the summer for the cool nights, and many come to see the fall colors in early and late fall. They do take reservations now for the summer months, and after the middle of September reservations are no longer taken, and the price drops, too. Maine State Parks have really increased their cost for a night’s stay at their parks, but with the drop in price it cost us $18 plus $1.26 tax for a night and that is without services. - gsnakehill

Beautiful park. Roomy sites, great for families. Our site was right next to the playground which could get a little noisy, but that was okay. Nice walking trails, pretty river. I now camp in a motorhome, but if I still used tents I would have loved these sites. The tents sites are very spread out and feel private. We will definitely stay here again if we are in the area. The cable and wifi were very clear. We had a good, level, roomy site. - GranNan06
Aug 2018 - $38.00
We stayed for a week, so our rate is based on the weekly discount. This campground was a little tough to rate, since it has some advantages and disadvantages. It is very rustic (which we like) and many areas feel more like a national forest or state park campground than a private campground. It's heavily wooded, and there's a great walking trail along the river where our Lab was thrilled to soak in the water every day. Be aware, there's a very steep downward slope on the first part of the trail that can be difficult for some. It's close to Gorham which has plenty of local stores, and a Walmart is a few miles further away. The staff/owners were friendly and helpful, and we were able to receive packages during our stay. There's a pool, hot tub, arcade, and playground. The campground is sandwiched between a rail line and US-2... the highway was pretty noisy, but the train was fairly quiet, though is likely more annoying if you are in the tent area which is right near the tracks. Most sites are pretty close together, and our site was extremely narrow for our big rig, with neighbors right next to us on each side. We had a couple days of rain and our site got quite muddy. Low voltage was a bit of a problem, but as long as we didn't use more than 25-30 amps at a time on each leg of our 50-amp connection we were OK. The free WiFi worked sometimes, but was often slow. AT&T was very weak but usable at our site near the office, but we had no AT&T signal in other parts of the campground (or even along the highway). Verizon worked well in the whole area. We took a quick look at the other campground down the road and much preferred the look/feel of Timberland, so if we return to the area, we'll stay here again. - LifeRebooted
Aug 2018 - $40.00
This is a heavily-wooded, natural park, yet it still has many amenities and is well-maintained. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There is a nice walking trail along the river. The mosquitoes were not too bad; we went for a half hour hike (without repellent - late afternoon on the last day of July) and swatted a number of them, but did not get bit. The park is very quiet and peaceful. Showers are a reasonable price at $0.25 per 4 minutes. We would definitely return to this park. - John A Guderian
