Flat gravel sites with grass on sides. Pull through and back in sites. Restrooms very clean and there is a store and a place for folks to gather. As with most KOA's I've found - they say there is a dog park, but it's the size of a postage stamp... but there are grassy areas to walk the dog, so it works ok. We camped at Bangor / Holden KOA (formerly Red Barn Campground) in a Motorhome.

It's congested. We had a premium site that we shared with another camper. Our rv's were barely 5 feet apart. The people that work there were very nice and helpful. Expensive for being in Holden, Maine. We paid much less for camping last year in Bar Harbor, Maine. We camped at Bangor / Holden KOA (formerly Red Barn Campground) in a Motorhome.

This is an old campground with lots of long-term, seasonal clients. All we met were friendly and helpful. All the hookups were in the right place and worked well. However, this large, dated campground, which advertised long pull throughs for MH/towing folks like us, provides one short line of pull throughs, which are very difficult to get into and out of. Streets are narrow, moving neighboring vehicles is pretty much required to arrive or leave for large MHs towing. Even navigating successful exit from the site, put us in position NOT to be able to make the turn for the campground exit. Early enough so we just went out the entrance. Again, this is a nice place...but KOA needs to assess whether it should be billed as what it is....not advisable for big MHs towing. We camped at Bangor / Holden KOA (formerly Red Barn Campground) in a Motorhome.

Many long term residents who do not respect your space at all. In our space constantly. One even parked her car in our space despite having more space in her own site! Long term folks were not welcoming and were very intrusive. People speed through the campground all day long, even the staff. Honey wagon drives through and stinks the place up a lot. When I reviewed this campground through the official KOA app the owner denied these facts. Speaks to his integrity that he won’t investigate or even care to do anything other than refute facts. We camped at Bangor / Holden KOA (formerly Red Barn Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed here twice; once on the way into Canada and again on our return. Very nice camp and super staff. Our first visit we only had water & electricity and the site was a bit tight but on the return trip we had a full-hookup pull through and it was great. The only tricky thing is turning left into the campground from the road as it's very busy. We were there in off-season but they have a nice store and looks like a cafe. We camped at Bangor / Holden KOA (formerly Red Barn Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

We had a great stay even if it were only one night. Would love to come back. Good WiFi. Staff was very helpful. Sites were a little close but nothing compared to many campgrounds. Baths were clean. We camped at Bangor / Holden KOA (formerly Red Barn Campground) in a Motorhome.

The owners plan on more upgrading. They need to have a better cleaning of the showers and restrooms. The bath mats were filthy and were never moved the entire 6 nights we were here. The electric service was weak. Couldn't run ac and microwave at the same time. Water hook up and electric plug are located at the front of the sites so unless you have a very long cord or an extension cord you can't utilize the nice long spaces. Dump station is a little tricky to get to but easy to use. We camped at Bangor / Holden KOA (formerly Red Barn Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

Stayed 6 nights and enjoyed our stay. Owners were very nice. It was off season so it was somewhat quiet although busier than we expected. Our site worked fine but was tight, had to leave the truck on the very edge of the street. Had to move it a couple times to let campers out from across the street. If you are in the area for Bar Harbor, you are about an hour away. There are a few things to do in the area but not much. We were there for 6 nights. Will return if we are in the area. Stayed for 1 night on way back into USA. Like many New England RV parks there is a large percentage of sites for seasonal folks. Well kept up and spaced sites. Dump station a little awkward to get to. Located near entrance vs. exit.

Have pizza and ice cream available on site. Well stocked gift and camping supply store. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Very strong wifi. Bathrooms very clean and modern. Pool. We camped at Bangor / Holden KOA (formerly Red Barn Campground) in a Motorhome.

Host was very friendly and accommodating. We had an "opposing" pull through that can take 2 RV's, 180 degrees opposite. There's a nice store where you can order pizza and buy necessities. At least 2 RV repair places within a mile or so. Very convenient to Bangor and plenty of shopping. A little over 1 hour to Bar Harbor. WIFI was excellent and free cable provided about 70 channels. We were here early in May so no pool and park was sparsely populated. I think there are more activities, etc., going on further into the season. We camped here for two nights. Great location for visiting Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. Campground was quite full. Many sites appeared to be seasonal. We had a pull thru FHU. Cable tv service was good. The staff was getting ready for their Christmas in July weekend which seemed to be a big event each year. We would camp here again if in the area. Overall Rating:

Our first stay at Red Barn, and we were pleasantly surprised. The CG is much larger than it looks like from the road. (Our rate is a combination PA on weekdays and Good Sam for the weekend, by the way). We were given a very nice, large pull thru with great Wifi, a very good cable TV signal, 50 Amp and close to the store, yet in a very peaceful quiet area that we really enjoyed. The owners are diligently working hard to continuously make even more improvements. This is a great place to camp if you plan on visiting Acadia National Forest and Bar Harbor, without having to be in the midst of it all. It's about a 40 -45 minute drive to get to Bar Harbor from here. This park has quite a few seasonals and there are lots of activities for the kids. We were here during their "Christmas in July" weekend and it was lots of fun, even though we are empty nesters. The office has a great little store with lots of camping 'stuff' and gifts. They also have a snack bar that sells ice cream, sandwiches and pizza, which they deliver to your site. We spent 6 nites/7 days here and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The owners, Chris and Sally were great. We camped at Bangor / Holden KOA (formerly Red Barn Campground) in a Fifth Wheel.
