Riverbend is a park that runs along the Dead River about halfway between Lewiston and Augusta, Maine. It is a large park that is about half seasonal and half transient spaces. A section of the park is entirely seasonal, then there are occasional seasonal rentals sprinkled throughout the rest of the park. We were there the week before the park was closing for the season, and most of the seasonal rigs were already winterized. Sites are entirely grass, with water and, in the case of our site, 30 amp electric. The sites are the biggest I've seen at any park, anywhere. Really, truly spacious. For the seasonals, there seems to be little in the way of restrictions on what can be built or stored on the site, so most of the sites in the seasonal section were...how to say it...overbuilt. But that's in a section that transients will never need to go, except to do laundry. The laundry room has 2 washers and 2 dryers, and we were fighting for space, even though it was a Monday in October. The main part of the park is like a large park, with grass, trees, and the river. It's really quite lovely. The park has kayak and canoe rentals, and bass fishing in the river is apparently very good. Many of the seasonal renters have bass boats permanently on site. Showers and restrooms are nice, and everything is spotlessly clean. The owners are nice people who really care about running a nice campground. The camp store is well stocked. There's a pool, playground, and game room. Nature trails leave from the campground, and there are bike trails nearby. Highly recommended. - AnnP
Jul 2016 - $30.00
It is an "ok" park for one night. Branches drug across our MH and really should be cut. They were very low. All grass sites. We had no sewer. Wifi was NOT free. Showers were free. Only one exit/entrance and not wide enough for another car to pass. That is bothersome to us considering it is very woodsy here. Careful how your GPS brings you in. "Waze" brought us up a steep, short, sharp turn at a RR track. The hitch hit the ground there and I'm not sure how we even did it without more damage. I'm not sure I would stay again. - User3274

Very nice campground with well maintained grounds. Some seasonal camping with well cared for sites. - sandawilliams

Nice camp. Tight turns if not in the front spaces 1-18. Weekends became basically a party atmosphere. Slots 1-8 were large though surprisingly had to problems leveling so bring some blocks. The road into the slot and out was okay for slots 1-8 but interior to the camp the turns would have been very tight - lefield

Owner makes up the rules as fits his mood. After over 12 years of camping there, and last two years of setting up a pet fence to keep our Yorkies contained and happy, this year the owner decided that a portable adjustable fence had to be taken down. Now no fence allowed. Over the years we have had many issues of their campers with barking dogs, and loose run-away dogs. Owner has an "oh well" attitude, and don't care as long has he is left alone, and collects payment. They have gone down hill every year about enforcing their so called rules. It use to be fun going to Beaverbrook, and I do not enjoy, or have interest in camping anymore. Sad day when you do what is needed to keep our pets happy and quiet, then be told to take down the fence, or leave. We choose to leave and not have the headache of other campers not following the campground rules. - stephen moody
Jul 2016 - $45.00
Reminded me of a state park with full hook ups. The entrance is literally at the end of a (3) mile long gravel road where it dead ends, so don't be alarmed. We had one of about 10 pull throughs close to the entrance and it was ok. Extensively treed, so-so water pressure, no wifi period, iffy cell service. Had to ask the check in people several questions after we checked in and their responses were less than helpful. Most likely won't stay again if in the area. - jc2

Jul 2018 - $40.00
Nice lake swimming during heat wave. Very close to neighbors. Sand and grave hard to keep out of camper. Electricity kept going on and off. Grounds are not landscaped and not attractive or inviting. We stayed here to be able to visit with nearby family and beyond that convenience was not particularly enjoyable. The park is almost all seasonal campers. - carmilake
Jun 2016 - $37.00
This was a convenient one night stopover from New Brunswick Canada to VT. It has a lovely lakeside setting with many seasonals and families with kids. As mentioned by others, the access road to the park is 3/4 mile of unpaved and bumpy travel but once inside the park the roads were fine.
Our unshaded site was part of an interior circular grassy area. None of the shady perimeter sites along the lakefront were available. We had a comfortable distance from our neighbor for our slide-out and the grassy site was level. We had 30 amp service but did not use their water or WiFi. There was a dump station near the exit but none at the site.
There were several families with kids, both in tents and in RVs. It seemed very family oriented.
Management does have lots of rules and signs. At registration we were handed a plastic bag for trash and a list of 28 rules. Signage in the (only?) bathroom was "no washing dishes or pans in sinks" and "washrooms closed between 8a and 9:30a". Perhaps the park's emphasis on kids was the reason for having so many rules. - BP106
Sep 2015 - $35.00
Old smaller campground but buildings and landscape in good condition. Staff was very friendly and very helpful. Approximately 60 percent are permanent campers. Campground is right on the lake but most water view sites are taken by permanent campers. They do rent canoes and kayaks and would be a good place for fishing. Campground has some shaded areas and very limited number of 50 amp and a few long pull thru sites. Campground road had horrible potholes on road into camp. They did drag the road before we left which made the road bearable. We camped here because it was a good Sam Park but campground would not give the 10% discount unless you paid in cash. Never experienced this from a Good Sam park. - fulltimehusker

Aug 2008 - $38.00
Very nice owner's and host staff, restaurant and small supply store. Beautiful lake access with a dock for boats and visiting boats. Mostly outdated playground for kids but the lake is the main draw with a jump float and nice clean beach. Steady 30a power and decent pricing with flexible staff. We extended our stay by a half day and they charged me only $6. Now I have to be honest and list the bad - the access road is terrible and nearly 3/4 of a mile long with steep rises and falls, some overhanging tree limbs and rutted areas. Also, the sites are tight tight tight. This is NOT a place for anyone towing something longer then a 34' trailer of any type. The roads are narrow and people park their cars into the the road, I am still surprised (thanks to my wife spotting objects) that I didn't tear the roof or take out a corner marker. - mwebber78
Jun 2008 - $42.00
NOTE: GPS does not recognize Norris Point Road. The correct address is Norris Hill Road which ends at the campground. Small, mostly seasonal campground. Sites can not be booked for less than 7 days until after Memorial Day. Minimal activities: crafts, bingo, weekend horseshoe tournament. The Saturday night we stayed they had a great band. Non seasonal sites are grassy with very little shade. Small store with basics. 6 miles to get to any services. Too many seasonals tear around on golf carts for such a small campground. Lake is beautiful and quite warm for Maine. We probably won't go back. - Everyboysmomma

Aug 2018 - $68.00
In my opinion this is disappointing example of a KOA Park. This rv park in no way is up to the high standards of KOA. The other 6 KOA parks I stayed at this trip were well worth the premium KOA charges. Not this one. Seems to me tired, rough and old relative to other rv parks I stayed at. The roads were bumpy and pitted. My 35 foot Class A would not self level using its automated system due to an overly sloped site (both fore and aft, left and right) requiring a half hour with supplemental leveling blocks. Turns were tight. Paid almost $70 per night. Truth be told I had far nicer places at $30 per night this trip. - Bob9999
Aug 2018 - $51.00
Nice shady site. Level. You may need extra sewer hose. The sewer connecter was at the very rear of the site. Good wifi and several OTA channels. You have to climb a pretty steep grade to get out of the park. The reason for the 3 on satisfactory of value is because for 50.00 plus you should have cable included with FHU. - archbarb
Jun 2018 - $52.00
This KOA has new owners, and they are lovely. They are working hard to fix things up, and soon this should be a great camp. Right now, it is very rough. This is a KOA "Journey" camp with a pool and no other frills, making the >$50 price tag outrageous. We were greeted pleasantly, sign in was quick, and we were escorted to our site. Access to all sites is up a relatively steep hill. Each site is surrounded by trees making it very difficult for big rigs to navigate into and out of their pull through. Sites are hard compacted gravel that made it easy to level our 40' rig. Electrical and water hookups are good, and are located in the middle of the site. The sewer is all the way at the rear of the site. Even with trees we were able to open all of our slides, but not the awnings (and they weren't needed in the shade). This camp is in the forest so there is absolutely no way to use a satellite dish for TV, and only a few channels are available via antenna. There is no cable. The camp WIFI worked well. AT&T was at two bars LTE. - OH2SD

Jul 2014 - $15.00
$15 rate represents a $450 monthly rate plus electric. We intended to stay a month, ending up staying for over two. This is a little slice of heaven folks, the wife and I have RV'd over 30 years and this is one of nicest campgrounds and nicest people you will ever meet. The campground is for adults only, no frills for kids which is exactly what we look for. Very clean campground, beautiful landscaping, right on the Kennebec River. I caught several small mouth bass at the dock, sturgeon can be seen jumping out of the river, eagles soaring, very pristine setting. The owners are wonderful people, host regular Friday night dinners, and do a wonderful job of making you feel like this is home. The campground is centrally located, easy enough to get to the coast or to the mountains on day trips. Augusta is 10 minutes to the north, plenty to see. We will definitely return to this park. - JamBus
Jul 2012 - $25.00
Rate is weekly rate plus tax. We are staying here for 2 weeks. The park is quiet and seems quite secure. Each vehicle gets a remote to operate the gated entrance. Most of the sites are seasonal but there are a couple sites available. Everybody we have met is quite friendly. Sat at the river yesterday and watched several eagles fishing. We are about 50 feet from railroad tracks but have not seen any train since we got here 5 days ago. Paved rail/trail is beside the tracks. Owner is very friendly and helpful. If space is available here when we are in the area we will stay here again. - User1984
Jul 2008 - $13.00
We found this campground thru Passport America and the rate reflects their discount. The owner added 3 new back in sites this year, the other 11 sites are taken by seasonal campers. Our site (13) is wooded, full shade, with a gravel drive and pad. It is a short walk past the other sites to the Kennebec river and marina. This is a great stop for folks traveling to or from Canada or someone with a boat that is lucky enough to get a slip in the marina. - SunnyTravelers

First time staying overnight at campground. Stayed for 10 days, very enjoyable. Friendly owners, others campers and had great weather. - Catt
Sep 2008 - $38.00
This is an old campground. Bad access road: dirt and lots of pot holes. Lots of trees make for some tight turns. Many seasonals here and sites were not all well cared for. They have a list of activities in season and a playground. If you stay, be sure to specify what type of service you want, otherwise you will be charged for the maximum for the site - ie, a 50/30 amp site will be charged at the 50 amp rate whether you are using 50 or not. The manager is not pleasant to deal with if there is a misunderstanding. The laundry had not been cleaned in awhile. We would not stay here again. - User469

Oct 2017 - $36.00
The value was great for this campground, which was why we chose it. We are a family of five, and this campground didn't charge the $5ish per person over 2 people that most campgrounds in the area charged. It was nothing fancy, but it suited our needs. This campground has a huge group of permanent residents in the summer and early fall, but most were clearing out when we arrived in October. The laundry facility needs updating. It is outside, and we had to search for the lights in the dark. The dryer ended up melting our clothing, and could have easily ended up in a fire. The owner said he would get them updated, but I would stay close to my laundry just in case. The owner was very friendly, and since he was getting ready to close down for the winter, he gave our children free ice cream bars and chips every day to clear out his store. This was a good, reasonably priced campground in an area with a lot to see and do. - RVerFamily
Jun 2014 - $36.00
Fire wood was delivered to our site promptly. The nearly level site was big enough to have a fire and not bother other campers. We used the site mainly as a place to sleep. Sites are gravel. The roads in this older campground are tight but well marked. Many of the sites are well maintained seasonal sites We had site 40 and the electric kept tripping our surge protector. Discussed this with the campground manager and he says that this problem and the addition of 50 amp sites will be added this fall/next spring. We have stayed there many times in the past and will stay next time we are in the area. - debandi12

The campground is primarily a seasonal park with many activities for children but daily sites are available. We had a good back-in on sand. The place is heavily forested, making use of satellite dish impossible. There is no cable TV. Wifi was good. - Mtmoi

Quiet time should be later on weekends~
Pool table needs a new cover~
Grill over fire ring would b nice~
More paper towel refills in ladies room~ - The Gorman Family
Jun 2016 - $22.00
This is a family oriented park. Many of the sites are seasonal, only used on weekends. The facilities, while aged, are well maintained. The internal road are dirt and gravel with many trees. Sites could use grading and leveling. They have many activities on weekends. The road into the park is dirt and might be an issue if rainy. Very good free Wi-Fi. - A hitch and hop
