We had been at the Oceanside Bar Harbor KOA for a week before coming here. We loved the peacefulness of the campground. We stayed in site 18 and then 14 because we extended one night. Verizon hotspot works wonderful. They do offer a Good Sam discount, but you have to ask, which unfortunately I didn't. If you put in the address, there is no problem getting there, but it is busy on Rt 1 thru Camden and tight if you have a big RV. There is cable that you can purchase if you do seasonal camping. It isn't cost effective for the owners to do it otherwise. Sites are spacious albeit with roots from trees. Bath house is small, but clean. Will definitely stay again. We camped at Camden Hills RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Check out the lighthouses and cute shops in Rocport/Camden/Boothbay Harbor. Great just to drive around the different coastal areas and see the harbors and boats. McLoon's lobster shack is the best, but get there early. Also a great lobster roll at Captain's Fresh Idea in Waldeboro. 7 1/2 ounces for 19.99.

This is our second time to this park. There is nothing yucky or unsightly about this park. You don't drive in and get the feeling you're in jeopardy of having anything stolen or your worrying about your safety because the park is in the trees, grass is mowed and it is neat and clean. However, they have some issues. IMHO, in today's world, a RV park should have 2 things - WIFI (that you don't have to pay extra for) and some way to watch TV. Because of the trees you can't get satellite reception, there are no OTA stations that you can tune in to clearly so they should offer cable. They do not offer cable. We are TV people and would have left if didn't have shows recorded on our DVR that could last us the week we were there. They offer WIFI, but it is a pay-for service. Luckily the Verizon signal was good. These 2 issues mean a lot to us so they loose a lot of appeal because of those omissions. We found our site very pretty and comfortable and easy to get in to (#42) except it was unlevel. Had to put blocks under the tires on one side. The utilities are placed well and worked good. There is good spacing between the sites, which was comfortable. We didn't have any problems negotiation the interior roads except a couple of low branches around our site. As we were backing in to our site a pine tree branch was scraping our roof but there was no way to avoid it. After getting settled I went to the office and told them about 2 branches that needed to be removed before we left (in 5 more days). I then reminded them each day. Finally at 9:30 on the day of our departure they showed up to cut the branches making us an hour late in leaving on a somewhat long day. At least they took care of the problem, but waiting until the drop dead hour was a little disconcerting. They are too pricey - no discounts. Love the Rockport area very much, but we will try a different park next time. We camped at Camden Hills RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

First Impression: Entrance sign crowded by weeds. In a deep forest just off the main road. Safety: No concerns but no night lighting. Access: Avoid US-1 through Rockland (south of Rockport) as US-1 cuts through historic downtown with very narrow streets. Use ME-90 (in good condition). CG access road poorly marked, in fair condition and is hard to spot, Garmin GPS got lost. Office: Informative camp host, token store with snacks and some camping necessities. Credit cards accepted. Online reservations available. No price discounts. Facilities: Pool. No spa or fitness room. Small, aging rec center with a ping-pong table. Aging restrooms/showers but clean, no mold, useable (score "A"). No propane sales. No playground. No off-leash dog run. Campground: Not in a flood plain. No storm shelter available. Heavily wooded. Interior roads are narrow dirt/gravel in fair condition with sharp turns. Tree branches are maintained. Maneuvering all RVs is a challenge. Multiple tent areas. No yurts or cabins. Sites are all generous, sufficiently level, grass/dirt, pull-through and back-in, no site landscaping. You're parking on the forest floor; watch for trees, tree stumps, and roots. No site demarcation. Pedestals at middle of site with electric 30 or 50 depending on site; no meters. Very low water pressure with good taste. Sewer pipe is 4" unthreaded, about 4" above ground level. No patios. Useable picnic tables. Fires permitted in fire rings. Very poor satellite views. No cable TV. OTA TV found channels but they faded in-and-out. Pay Wi-Fi. Verizon phone and 4G at 3 bars. Recycle bins. Noise: None, very quiet. Bug Report (late June): small and some very large black ants. Runners: CG roads not suitable for running. Yoga: no good place for your mat. Conclusion: Score 4-Weak but your local camping options are limited. We camped at Camden Hills RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

The Rockport/Rockland/Camden "metroplex" offers tons of local eateries, a few national fast food chains, and boating options out the wa-zoo. Downtown Rockland is historic. There seems to be plenty of free, municipal parking. Museums. Lighthouses to visit. Free literature at every stop. Not a strong tourist-trap but tourism is prevalent.

Don't be fooled by the name "Resort". It barely deserves the term campground. Does anyone do maintenance at this place? Doesn't look like it. Trash and recycles overflowing, huge rotten holes in the picnic tables, bent and loose power posts. Besides, on the night we stayed there someone was loudly moving lots of glass bottles at 1am and having a loud conversation at the same time. Then some folks in and outside a nearby RV had a screaming fight that lasted from 1:30 until 3:30am. Never again. We camped at Camden Hills RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Spent 3 nights at this resort. It is an older campground off route 90 in Rockport. Had a pull thru spot. Fairly level. Lots of trees. Nice pool. Rest rooms re very old. However they were clean. No cable tv, got 4 channels over the air. This campground is convenient to the area. It is off route 1 so it is much quieter. I would certainly stay again. Let me first state you get what you pay for so take that in consideration. Staff is very friendly and eager to help you. 50ampâś” We had site 35 no cable TV , but there was a cable. Upon entering the driveway and seeing a like new RV RESORT SIGN was encouraging. Arriving is 2 different things. One could stretch it and go as far as saying the sign is,= a MISREPRESENTATION. Little to no stone anywhere, drive to site 35 was riddled with potholes, rocks sticking up, mudholes. Site was grass covered, narrow, level where camper sat, but once steps were down it had slope which added a problem since my wife is handicapped with balance issues. Pool is nice but never saw anyone in it. Looks like this campground was frozen in time from the 70's and no one put any money in it. Stone is cheap. A nice coating on the roads and sites adds curb appeal. They nickle and dime you to death. WiFi is extra. Using the dump station is $10 and booking reservation fee $2. The bath houses were clean, however they more deserve the term 'shack', shower stalls are extremely small, water pressure low, stalls may be clean but are stained. I'm NOT sure if any 2 picnic tables matched throughout the camp, but ours was old didn't feel so sturdy. The wood has succumbed to the elements and should be replaced. We camped at Camden Hills RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

When coming to Maine one usually comes for Lobster. Best value is Mcloons lobster shack 315 Island Rd, South Thomaston, ME 04858 The boat came in , I saw the lobsters go from boat to pier to broiler! Can't get any fresher!! *** 2 lobster dinner =$26.95 Best value around. Stay away from Claws on rt 1, over rated, very expensive, food is ok, but twice as much as Mcloons.

New owners took this campground over in 2017. It's a very nice wooded campground yet open spaces. The people checking you in are super friendly and very accommodating. Take you to your site, etc. they also own the other campground on Route 1. This is much quieter and yet still close to the Camden area. Highly recommend. Park was okay; site level and everything worked. In trees and the cable is very limited, satellite not possible in most sites. Quiet. Friendly hosts. We enjoyed our stay at Camden Hills very much. It's a nice, neat and clean park. There was plenty of room between our RV and the one on the utility side and just a little less room on the social side. I didn't feel closed in. Our site was grassy without areas of dirt or mud. Utilities were very close to the woods (got chigger bites setting up and getting our bikes off the back of the RV). We didn't use cable even though it was available. We couldn't get satellite due to too many trees (nice and shady). Cell service (Verizon) was good so we hot spotted because there wasn't Wifi. It was quiet and comfortable but lacked some of what you'd expect for $45 per night. The park is within a couple miles of Rockport and Camden. Beautiful ports! The epitome of Maine! Nicely shaded. Easy access. Helpful staff. Bathrooms clean, but "shack like". Shower head perfect for a 4 ft 8 inch person. If you use the laundry get detergent at front desk first. Machine (washer and dryer) usage price a bit extreme at $2.50. My experience has been $1.50. Overall, it's a nice place conveniently located. We camped at Camden Hills RV Resort in a Truck Camper.

Staff was helpful in making arrival date changes with no penalty. Unfortunately, cable TV very poor in sites to rear of park, and no OTA signal available, also not satellite TV friendly. Staffer was able to move us to a site near the office, cable TV much better. No recreation in park, but within 15 minutes of Rockport and Camden waterfront. Quiet park, rundown, but location is decent. Easy in and out. We camped at Camden Hills RV Resort in a Motorhome.

As others have stated, this is not a resort. Even with the park 75% full, it was very quiet. Very few children. I count 3 at one seasonal site and never saw any others. The pool looks nice, but I never saw anyone in it. Since the prior reviews, they have upgraded the electricity and have a number of 50 amp sites. The water lines look new and the pressure and flow were good. My site was about 52 feet deep and 40 feet wide with some gravel.

There were 4 in our group and when we made reservations last year we requested sites together. That did not happen.

The laundry appears to have new machines and was very clean. The cable tv does have the network stations in HD and a few other stations. No CNN, HLN, CNBC, The Weather Channel, etc. Satellite service is not available on most or maybe all sites due to the trees. Same for AT&T cell phone service. Verizon was ok. Verizon 4G data card service was only 2.5 Mbps. The free wifi was about .5 Mbps and very slow to get connected to.

As for service:

No one on call after the office closes. One person was on the old electric service at his site and he lost power. All he had was an outlet and no pedestal or circuit. He wandered around and found a garage with an open door. Inside he found a bank of circuit breakers.

Forget after hours check in unless you have reservations and an assigned site number and probably a map. One older couple, with a small Motorhome, knocked on my door after dark to see if there was a host somewhere. It was starting to rain and since I knew where several empty pull through sites were, I got them set up on one.

This park is ok for one night or several, as long as you know what you are getting into. But, if you desire to stay near Rockport and Rockland, there does not appear to be much else to pick from. We camped at Camden Hills RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Try The Rockport Diner, just east of the RV Park, at the stop light.

Its a stretch to call this an RV Resort. The sites were clean, the campground was well maintained and the teenager in the office when we checked in was cheerful and helpful. Those were the good points. The bad news became obvious the moment we checked in. We reserved a full week for 2 adjacent sites a year in advance and paid in full. Prior to our arrival, one of our sites was reassigned as a seasonal site and we were assigned another non-adjacent site without notification. The move was to a campsite that was not appropriate for the motor home in our party. The teenager in the office was not authorized to make site reassignments but gave us a corporate number to phone which we did. We ended up with a more appropriate site but still not adjacent. Next problem was no camp store to speak of. There was a cooler with some ice cream novelties but that was about it. Not exactly what I expect at an 'RV Resort'. I would stay here again for one night, or maybe a weekend, but I would not book a whole week here again. We camped at Camden Hills RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

I have been RVing for many years, this place is a complete disaster. Their electrical drops as low as 93 volts causing the TV to even go off. You cannot use your A/C, hot water is electrically circulated or TV. I book for 2 nights, could only stay one due to the service, but NO refund, just excuses. Also the septic system leaches sewer liquid onto the ground surface, what an odor. An 18 year old high school girl running the front desk was apologetic but that is all. What a disappointment this place was. Calling it an RV resort is truly a joke. Beware! We camped at Camden Hills RV Resort in a Motorhome.
