No WiFI unless you are willing to pay an outrageous amount. Campground is old and tired looking. Shower house needs updating. Even though it is clean it seems dirty. Nice view of the bay from a viewing deck in the campground. Good location, close to Camden and Rockport. We camped at Megunticook Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This was a very nice RV resort right on the ocean and was just a short walk from our sight where there were plenty of chairs and table to sit and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Spaces were good and there were plenty of pull throughs. The host was very helpful and friendly when we arrived and throughout our four night stay. The new owners (for three years now) have been working hard to improve the previous bad reputation this park had and they are doing a great job. There are plenty of things to do in the area and free information literature was offered that was very helpful . We just missed it, but every Saturday night (weather permitting) a lobster cookout is offered for a nominal fee. Our neighbors told us it was great. We would highly recommend this campground and would return if we were planning to be in the area again. The only two negatives for some (not for us) is that a few of the sights are quite close to the road and at times the traffic noise was noticeable. Also, WiFi is offered, but at a cost. Just something to consider when making your plans. We camped at Megunticook Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

This area has a plethora of things to do: boating, kayaking, sail trips, lighthouse tours, various hiking options including mountains and a one mile walk out to the Rockland Breakwater over huge granite blocks. Plenty of shopping in both Camden and Rockland nearby as well as restaurants galore that run the gamut. Pick up The Jewel--a free publication that has all the information about the midcoast of Maine you would ever need.

Great location! Great friendly service!! New cedar showers in the wash room building. The sites are close together, no real buffer between them. No complementary WIFI. There is a $10.00 dumping fee for registered campers. We camped at Megunticook Campground in a Truck Camper.

This park is all about location. It is right on Route 1 which means you have some road noise, however it also means you are close to town. Rockport is a mile, Camden and Rockland, about five miles. We found everything very clean, park, bath house, laundry. Our site was long enough to back in the fifth wheel and park the truck across the end of the site. Nice stone rings at each site. The park fronts on the ocean and has a beautiful area with chairs, tables, and grills where you can relax and enjoy the view of Penobscot Bay. We had a 30 amp FHU site, all worked fine. The only negatives there is little or no ATT service here, no OTA, no cable, and the WiFi is something you can buy from the office. We elected not to. The pool looked clean, we did not use it. The staff here is super friendly and helpful and we would camp here again. We camped at Megunticook Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Ride the schooner Heron out of Rockport. Visit the village of Camden, free parking is available, look For the blue signs in town. Great lobster roll at McCloons in Spruce Head. Check out Marshall Point Light in Port Clyde. The sitting area by the ocean is a real treat and a great place to unwind.

Nice campground on the ocean. Sites are pretty close to each other, and it was pretty dreary on a rainy day. The pool was just so-so, it may have been a plastic in-ground pool with some plastic chairs around it. The staff is friendly and hardworking. And yes, there is a $10 charge at the pump out station! We camped at Megunticook Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Sites were a little narrow, but the walk to the bay viewing area worth it. The hosts offer a lobster bake on Saturday night @ the area and it is wonderful - cooked there @ the site while you meet your fellow rv'ers and enjoy the views! Only disappointment was having to pay $10 to dump even if you stay @ the Park. We camped at Megunticook Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Great hosts and area, definitely would recommend this Park. Only disappointment was the $10 dumping fee - but they may have a good reason for it, so recommend getting a full hook up site if they're available.

The owners are the most involved and motivated campground hosts we have met. We loved our stay here and know the next time we come it will be even better. As others have said, there are many recent improvements to this campground. The only difficulty we had was that our 30 amp power was pretty weak so our internal protection would disconnect over about 25 amps due to voltage drop. This is a wooded and natural campground, not a resort. They do have a pool but if you are used to resorts then you would probably want to check out Camden Hills. We love this property though because of the clean restrooms, outdoor cedar showers, and beautiful harbor views from the overlook. Our site 56 was good for our 40' rig and was easily leveled. Full tree cover. Verizon coverage good, AT&T unusable. Campground WiFi is strong and additional cost. The benefit is that not everyone there is using it, so it isn't bogged down trying to stream cat videos to every iPhone in the campground. You do actually get what you pay for. We camped at Megunticook Campground in a Motorhome.

Park is back under private ownership finally! New owners very helpful and very ambitious in plans for improvements. We saw lots of tree work being done and revival of the ocean overlook where lobster bakes were held in the past. Look forward to going back next year. This was the second year we had stayed here during the North Atlantic Blues Festival. We had reserved pull thru site #5 after walking around to pick a site last year before we left. In general the sites are a bit small and close for larger trailers and coaches. Site #5 offered a small plot of greenery on the front side of our camper giving us a bit of extra space. Length of the sites was adequate but not spacious for our 35 foot 5'er. The location is terrific. They are right on the ocean with cabins and tent sites that nearly overlook the water. Pull thru sites were on the front side and close to Route 1. There was a lot of traffic noise. My wife showered in the rest room. They were free and clean and this had been a busy weekend (near capacity). I noted that the roads in the campground were tight. We had challenges a couple times getting in and out due to parked cars. We were there for a festival weekend so this probably is not typical. We camped at Megunticook Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Owls Head Transportation Museum or come for the Blues Festival. On the coast of Maine, don't leave without Lobster & Clams. If you are a beer geek considered the Rock Harbor Brewery in Rockland or Threshers Brewing in Searsmont.

Wonderful campground made even better by the welcoming and helpful owners. Very pretty and wooded. A highlight is the deck overlooking Penobscot Bay and the ocean which is perfect for evening cocktails, reading or just sitting and enjoying the view. It is perfectly located to enjoy Rockland, Camden and the surrounding area. The owners are putting a great deal of work into the campground and it shows. We look forward to staying again when we're back in the area. We camped at Megunticook Campground in a Motorhome.

The park is under new ownership for the past seven months. They seem to be very motivated to correcting many of the shortcomings mentioned in previous posts. We stayed in a 35 foot class A at Site M9 and we had plenty of room. 50 amps and very good water pressure. Our site also was equiped with a new dunp fixture. WiFi was about $2 per day and was so fast that streaming was not a problem. Forget satellite reception if you are located in the woods. We could not pick up any over the air TV signals. Very quiet, and wonderful views of the ocean and lighthouse from the campground overlook. Being empty nesters we very much appreciated that the majority of campers were "mature" adults. No music. No children running around. Real quiet. Very conveniently located to Camden, Rockport, Rockand, and Owls Head. At this time I would not recommend rigs longer than 35 feet. There were areas for tenters as well, but, not too close to the RVers. We did see class B-C , 5th wheels, and towables. Interestingly we encountered no flys and mosquitoes were almost non existent. For RVers and campers desiring a nice quiet place to stay and take in the local places to visit I recommend Megunticook campground. Can the ambience be improved? Yes - and that is what the owners are working on daily. Note: this is a campground and not a resort. It fulfilled my criteria for a campground. Disclaimer: I have no financial incentive directly or indirectly with the owners. We camped at Megunticook Campground in a Motorhome.

The Transportation Museum at Owls Head was excellent. Flatbread Pizza was about a mile north of the campground and was great. We liked roaming around Camden and Rocklsnd. Not much in Rockport. Two to three days of touring is plenty then spend as much time just hanging out and relaxing.

We stayed over Labor Day weekend. It was crowded but quiet. Entrance isn't well lit and sign doesn't show in the dark. Easy to miss. Had to unhook towed vehicle because of tight roads getting to site. Heavily wooded and a nice change from other pull throughs where you are stacked on top of each other. Nice wooded trail leading to an overlook for a fantastic view of Maine's rugged coast and outlying islands. Lots well manicured. Lots of cool secluded tent sites. Full timers are removed to another part of the park. We traveled with 3 RVs and we were all together. Checked in to find out that we owed an additional $8 for some sort of miscalculation. Never did figure it out but we had made reservations 6 months earlier because of the Camden Windjammer festival. We did have an issue with a full timer who appears to have a reputation for causing problems with the transients. Mgmt took care of it immediately. He again caused issues with others in our group upon leaving and appears he has worn out his welcome with mgmt and was being removed. Whatever his issue was we didn't let it deter us from enjoying the campground and the local areas like Camden and Rockport. We camped at Megunticook Campground in a Motorhome.

This campground is loacted right on Route 1 and they have an average size sign at the entrance, but it is unlit at night and difficult to see on this fast moving highway.

The campsites are small and uneven and the dump station is right in front of the main office and you could easily end up in a long line to dump and exit. If you are waiting to dump you most definitely will be blocking the only road through the campground.

The picnic tables are all old and in poor shape. They also charge $12.00 per person for guests. Avoid this place. We camped at Megunticook Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Located right on busy US Rt. 1. Decent sites in mostly heavy woods. Right after Labor Day not corwded so feels pretty spacious. Not a lot of50A sites. Some right on the highway, others pretty tight well back in the wood. Best sites are 30A. Could be longer to allow better parking for toads and p/u. Roads are better than many we have been on. Tight but passable for sure. Yes, we would stay here again. Wish they had wi-fi out in the campground. TV good. We camped at Megunticook Campground in a Motorhome.

We stayed here one night to get off the road on our way home. The campground is heavily wooded, with narrow roads to the campsites. The bath houses are up by the office. If you have a site far away from there, it will be a loooong walk to the bathroom. The campground is on a cliff overlooking the ocean. They have recently fixed that area with up with a bbq, picnic tables and a nice set of chairs overlooking the water. However, when you leave that area you have no sense that you are by the water. Our campsite was level and the utilities were easy to use. We camped at Megunticook Campground in a Motorhome.
