Convenient to Bar Harbor, Acadia National Park and the rest of Mt Desert Island. Level, spacious gravel sites. Open to the sky so satellite TV available. Wonderful sites on the water are available.. Very helpful staff. Lobster shack right down the road and shopping 15 minutes away. We would stay here again. - dutch star
Aug 2018 - $85.00
Great water view if you are close enough. We were able to see it when sitting outside. Horrible WiFi! Did not work at any time of the day. Connect and then disconnected over and over. Would have definitely rated higher if this worked. Poor At&t reception in this area. - jevans0005

Beautiful view of water and sunsets. Swimming at high tide. Small store. Clean bathrooms. Dog friendly. Expensive - it would have been cheaper to stay in a hotel! - michelle b

$52 / night but we averaged $28 for 4 nights using Passport America. W/E30/I Beautiful level grass site overlooking a lake. Satisfactory open spacing between sites. Downtown Bar Harbor and Cadillac Mountain only about 20 minutes away. Only downside is that internet access was poor. Would definitlely stay here again!!! - Teddi2
Sep 2018 - $80.00
A very nice park with great wifi and cable tv. Sites are reasonably level and of adequate size. The restrooms and showers are a little dated but kept very clean...except when there are a large number of tent campers using them because it is hard to keep up with the traffic in and out. We were there Labor day weekend, thus lots of tents. A free bus to Bar Harbor runs frequently throughout the day. Beware of the heavy cruise ship days. Labor day four ships unloaded 7,000 passengers downtown. Had to walk in the street to get around. The park is very expensive but I got a 20% veterans discount. Would stay again. - Geodoc
Aug 2018 - $85.00
Good location for visiting area. Expensive, but this is Bar Harbor in prime tourist season. Large campground with sites of varying size. Our site was pretty level, others were definitely not. Some waterfront sites, but not 50 amp. Sites are close, like all in the area. Good hookups, good 50 amp (hot during our stay so we were thankful) Decent WiFi. Pool was cleaned up while we were here. We didn't use, but it was busy. - Motorhome girl

Sep 2018 - $1.00
We stayed at Forest Ridge for four months from May through September 2018. Our experience at Forest Ridge was mixed. The seasonal price is reasonable but comes with tradeoffs. The location is ok, not great (the 20-mile drive to Bar Harbor can easily take an hour in traffic). Views are limited, gravel roads are pot-holed, and sites are gravel/grass. The campground is surrounded by a nice walking trail through beautiful forests. The campground is owned/managed by a family (husband, wife, & son) who seem to be learning on-the-job. Husband and son stay on site; wife works a full-time job and drops by after work and weekends. On Day 2 we settled in, sorting items from storage and gathering firewood (as there was no cut wood yet available) for an evening campfire. We were reprimanded by an owner in a sharp manner and instructed to clean up our "mess". We placed four LED "tiki" lights in the lawn and inquired on what days landscapers came so we could be prepared to remove them. We were advised "at any day or time" due to unpredictable Maine weather. In 4 months the owners mowed our lawn once. We observed others borrowing the mower to do their own lawns, so we followed suit. Electrical service is advertised to be 50 amps. We were astounded when our site breaker blew 6+ times. The owners did not hesitate to demonstrate their annoyance. They blamed us, dropped off a leaflet about responsible appliance use and instructed us to manage better. We reduced usage to a bare minimum and then shortly thereafter, the breaker blew again! A good-hearted neighbor looked and discovered our site had a 50-amp circuit but led to a 30 amp master switch. He replaced it for the owners. We never received an apology or explanation. The husband later admitted to us he is a bad communicator and dislikes confrontation. He told us his wife typically handles customer issues. We appreciated his candor. We hope they hire someone suited to running a campground with all the related personalities and problems. Right now the experience is hampered by an unprofessional management style. If you can, book early and find a campground closer to the Bar Harbor area. Will cost more but you will enjoy a better experience; the type you travel to Maine for. - Desertboyz
Sep 2018 - $56.00
This campground is just outside the town of Ellsworth, but is quiet and surrounded by forest. Gravel roads are rough. Sites are roomy, mostly level, gravel pull-throughs, with grass and large trees. Cable TV and WiFi. Woman who checked us in was friendly and helpful with information on exploring the area. There are a couple of open areas to walk my dogs. We would stay here again. - FranM
Aug 2018 - $42.00
Liked this campground although it was a 40 minute drive to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. The site was level and had some shade. It was near the laundry room and showers. The washer/dryer costs were reasonable. It was very convenient. The check-in was a bit bumpy but the owner?/manager came by later with a nice word and refunded $12 discrepancy between the printed cost and the charge on the office computer. I appreciated his personal touch. Won me over. I appreciate those personal touches. We camped in a motorhome. - rwarner22

Jul 2010 - $35.00
A nice small clean RV park. Sites and interior roads are gravel. Good 50 amp power, WiFi worked 99% of the time, and site T-6 was clear of trees so our satellite dish worked. The owners/managers were gone most of the time but that did not cause any problems for us. The location of the park is away from the noise and crowds. We camped here for a week in a big rig. The only complaint I have: there is a lot of road construction going on around Ellsworth and this caused some delays. That complaint doesn’t really have anything to do with the campground. We would camp here again. The $35/day rate included discounts. - pcguy
Oct 2008 - $21.00
We stayed two nights. It was near season's end, and the place was a shambles and very untidy. We used Passport rate and so received a 50% discount. Had there been another location close by, we would have moved. We would not stay there again. - rhontrevham
Sep 2007 - $20.00
We spent three nights here using as a base camp to visit the Bar Harbor/Acadia area. It sits back in the woods and because of the unpaved roads it was dusty. You could say it has two levels; the top is kind of an open field with little of no shade and the bottom part is shaded with lots of trees and quiet. We stayed on the bottom level and it was somewhat tight for my 34 ft 5th wheel but not a challenge. Not sure how old the campground is but it seemed new rather new because it had fresh cut trees and some of the lower sites had more than usual brush between them.. The site I had was nice and I had no problems with my hook ups. The restrooms were very clean and it had nice laundry facilities. Didn't seem to have much for kids to do. For the price $20 (Passport Campground) it was nice and close to the area's attractions and met our needs as a base camp. - pappytx

Traveling in a 43ft Class A with 4 slides and tow vehicle. Rate reflects Trails Collection membership. Unlike Thousand Trails parks, sites are assigned here. The road to the campground is gravel but is maintained so there were only a few tiny potholes. The spaces near the office are open and easy to get into. We had a pull through site in the wooded area near the lake. Interior roads are a little narrow but manageable in a big rig and had a few low hanging branches that could not be avoided but nothing that caused any scratches. There are big rocks that line the sites and corners so need to be careful navigating. Neighbors moved their vehicle to make it easier for us to get into our site but was not necessary. The site across from us was empty when we left which made it easy for us to get out. Our space was a little skinny but big enough for all slides to be extended. All utilities were conveniently located and worked well. Could not get satellite reception due to the tree coverage but cable TV worked well. Big, pretty lake on site for swimming, boats, jet skis, paddle boards and kayaks. Kayaks can be rented from the office. Staff was friendly. - Big Rig Travelers
Jun 2017 - $1.00
Park was extremely clean. Bathrooms and showers looked like new and were very well maintained. Playground equipment was a little dated and probably due for an update. Lake "Pond" is awesome for swimming and water/boating activities. Loved the fact that there wasn't a rope barrier restricting how far out you could swim. Only complaint I have about the entire park is the size of the "Premium" sites. Our site was just large enough for our 35' fiver. Not even enough room to park truck and wife's car on same lot. Luckily the park was pretty empty and there wasn't anyone in the lot on our curb side. So, we just kind of took over that spot for our canopy, games and vehicle parking. If the park was full we probably would have left the first day. Other than that the park was great. Wish there was more activities for the kids but we were there during the week and there wasn't a lot of people there. Fire rings were few and far between, I had to scavenge to build one out of scattered pieces. Can't complain too much though, this trip was free for us. Got a 1-year trial membership to Thousand Trails when we bought the camper. - MemoryMaker
Aug 2016 - $61.00
3 night stay way overpriced for so called resort, more like cheap campground and to far away from everything. 9 miles to get town of Ellsworth and 28 ?miles to get to Bar Harbor and Acadia. Water shoes needed for rocky beach area . Camp store closed at 4 pm much too early First site booked sounded great because showers and bathrooms were across from site and our small camper was not equipped with hot water or shower but site was way too small for truck and tent. They let us find another site that was adequate size for tent and small camper plus vehicle but had to charge us $40 more for three night stay because it had sewer hookups for a total of 190.00. . Could have booked a cabin in Ellsworth with ac for not much more . So called resort fee also charged for what I'm not sure . Definitely won't be back. Wish I could get some of my money back. - Stevethomas

Sep 2018 - $75.00
This is a large, and relatively open campground. Some water views, beach is rocky so no real swimming in our area. All amenities worked fine. Their only shortcoming is that many sites are far from level and I saw many units that even with blocks were at quite an angle. A food truck on site had great Clam Chowder and Lobster rolls. What a treat! - camperkatie
Sep 2018 - $99.00
This park has a great location. Great water views and access. We spent 18 days here in two different spots. We were 9 days in site 346 and then site 358 which was across the road. 346 is right on the water with unobstructed view of the bay. It is adjacent to the public access to the water. The public access was not too big of an issue for the most part. Some have not been trained in campground etiquette. 358 is a corner site with good view of the bay. Large site with lots of room. The only issue is it is quite unlevel. We never were able to get our coach leveled satisfactorily even with blocks. It is also satellite challenged. But it is a lovely site. These sites do not have sewer, but the park provides a great pump out service. Very reasonable and timely. The staff is great and the park is extremely well maintained. The trash cans are emptied on a continuous basis. We would stay here again. - RPFawcett
Aug 2018 - $97.00
One of the larger KOAs we've stayed in, this location is close to Acadia, on the water. Our site had zero trees, however, it was close to the ocean. The sites seemed packed together but overall was easy to navigate the campground for parking our 21' TT with one slide. Would stay here again when in the area! - michigan40camper

The roads to the park are good, the entrance road into the park is gravel and a few of the tree branches are low, so take it slow. The roads in the park are good. Check in was fast and friendly. There are around 120 sites, mostly permanent/seasonal. The park is clean and for the most part quiet. Our neighbor liked their music on the loud side, and when we asked management if they could ask them to adjust the base level (not the volume) as it was vibrating our RV we were told it was not quiet time yet. The campground is on Toddy Pond and has a beach and boat docks. There are lots of planned activities and breakfast and dinner on certain days. We were in Site 62, a gravel pull through with full hook ups. No issues with any of them. Site was not exactly level, even with our jack pads piled up our tires were still off the ground. There was a picnic table and fire ring. Lots of places for dog walking and a fenced dog park. WiFi was good as was our Verizon coverage. Laundry room was fairly clean. We stayed July 19-26, 2018 and paid $46.37 a night with our Good Sam Discount. - BarrettsHappyTrails
Jul 2015 - $38.00
My rate reflects an "economy" site - other sites up to $52. Sewer pipe so high that it was Above my outlet height so did not drain. Extremely high water pressure so make sure you have a reducer. Good antenna tv and cell phone from Bangor. WiFi speed so limited as to be almost useless - to knock out the permanent residents using Netflex etc. I'm sure, but 2 min. to load a google map is extreme and a YouTube video would not load at all. Nothing really here to draw campers except the little lake is probably why it was 80% empty end of July. Strict "early arrival - late departure" policy for extra fee and the high cost of sites seem to be a real emphasis on $$ for this campground which, for me, seems to be mostly a parking area with hookups. I would not stay here again. - SailorGolf
Aug 2014 - $33.00
Nice campground with large level grass and gravel sites and good utilities. The pull-through sites do not have shade but this made it easy to acquire a satellite signal, they do not have cable. The Wi-Fi worked OK but was slow at times and our Verizon signal would drop out at times. The dirt road into the campground is a little tight but not a big problem. They have a huge bonfire at the pond on Saturday nights and activities sometimes during the weekend. The young lady at the office was very nice and helpful. Tip: site 75 has a large cement pad, the only one in the campground. We would stay here again. - dandg

Aug 2010 - $45.00
This review is pretty useless at this point, because the owners are retiring after this season, which is almost already over. The campground is quaint and rustic, the grounds very clean and the owners pleasant enough. The campground sits on a lake (Toddy Pond) and the owners have some small canoes and a rowboat that you can use for free (no oars for the rowboat, though, and only one canoe paddle). If you bring your own boat you will need a special sticker from the town of Orland ($20), and the fishing licenses are expensive for out-of-towners. The location is convenient, about 50 minutes from Bangor and Bar Harbor/Acadia National Park, only a few miles to Bucksport, and about 15 minutes from Fort Knox and the Penobscot Bridge Observatory. We rode our motorcycle up Coastal Route 1 from here for a nice day trip including Machias and the lighthouse at Lubec, with many more sites to see along the way. Detracting from the campground is its proximity to Route 1 and the constant drone of traffic, no WiFi or CATV if you care about such things, and worst of all only 20 amp service, meaning no running of air conditioners in RVs. Maybe that's not normally a big deal in Maine, but we happened to visit when the temperatures set records for heat, making for some very uncomfortable nights. Also, the owner commented about me walking around with an open bottle of beer, mumbling something about state laws. I didn't know state laws applied to private property. The owners sell firewood, but no other camping supplies at all. Not even ice, although I was offered a handful for free. We don't have kids going with us, so it's hard for us to judge, but there seems to be absolutely nothing for kids to do, so I would think this is not a family oriented campground. In fact, most of the campers were older couples. They do allow dogs, however, even though we were yelled at for our dogs barking during one of our daily excursions (in noisy campgrounds with closely spaced sites such as this one we normally leave all our windows closed with the AC running so our dogs are isolated, but again, only 20amp service. Our dogs don't bark unless provoked and we returned to find people on our site.) In all of the years camping with our dogs, this is the FIRST time we ever had a problem. Several days there was a pronounced sewer smell in our fresh water, even though we always run our water through 2 filters. And finally, they only accept cash or checks, if that matters to you. So, the location was pretty good, the price was reasonable, even without Internet or cable, BUT not being able to use our AC was a deal breaker for us. We would not return (if they were to still exist after this season) unless they made some MAJOR upgrades. - gmanfan1966

We were there with 3 other couples. Very friendly and helpful staff. Really nice that the island shuttle picks up right in the park. We would stay again. - goldsp8
Sep 2018 - $45.00
Hard park to rate accurately. Close to Bar Harbor, local shuttle picks up/drops off at office, so great for getting to BH and Acadia NP. However, getting full hookups is a compromise--30a only with sewer. 50a only w/o sewer. Restrooms/showers old, cost for showers is .50/7 mins, and hot water doesn't show up for 45 seconds. Some of the bathroom sinks do not have hot water. Area is very clean. Probably would try another CG next trip. - wingnut60
Aug 2018 - $52.00
An older campground that stays booked up every summer. West of Bar Harbor on Rt 3 and away from the crowds. Second trip to Hadley's and nothing has changed, no improvements noticeable. 30 Amp service, 45 PSI water, and sewer hook-up. WiFi is not secure, 4 bar/4G Verizon cell service. No cable, 8 OTA TV channels. Campground interior roads are confusing. - Bburgbrewer
