$52 / night but we averaged $28 for 4 nights using Passport America. W/E30/I Beautiful level grass site overlooking a lake. Satisfactory open spacing between sites. Downtown Bar Harbor and Cadillac Mountain only about 20 minutes away. Only downside is that internet access was poor. Would definitlely stay here again!!! - Teddi2
Sep 2018 - $80.00
A very nice park with great wifi and cable tv. Sites are reasonably level and of adequate size. The restrooms and showers are a little dated but kept very clean...except when there are a large number of tent campers using them because it is hard to keep up with the traffic in and out. We were there Labor day weekend, thus lots of tents. A free bus to Bar Harbor runs frequently throughout the day. Beware of the heavy cruise ship days. Labor day four ships unloaded 7,000 passengers downtown. Had to walk in the street to get around. The park is very expensive but I got a 20% veterans discount. Would stay again. - Geodoc

Good location for visiting area. Expensive, but this is Bar Harbor in prime tourist season. Large campground with sites of varying size. Our site was pretty level, others were definitely not. Some waterfront sites, but not 50 amp. Sites are close, like all in the area. Good hookups, good 50 amp (hot during our stay so we were thankful) Decent WiFi. Pool was cleaned up while we were here. We didn't use, but it was busy. - Motorhome girl

Convenient to Bar Harbor, Acadia National Park and the rest of Mt Desert Island. Level, spacious gravel sites. Open to the sky so satellite TV available. Wonderful sites on the water are available.. Very helpful staff. Lobster shack right down the road and shopping 15 minutes away. We would stay here again. - dutch star

Great water view if you are close enough. We were able to see it when sitting outside. Horrible WiFi! Did not work at any time of the day. Connect and then disconnected over and over. Would have definitely rated higher if this worked. Poor At&t reception in this area. - jevans0005

If you are in a fill sized class A coach or 40' fifth wheel you have better options on Mt. Desert Island. This was a tent campground decades ago that converted to accommodate trailers. There are four 50 amp sites near the office in a circle, but they are configured awkwardly and not set up for big rigs. We had a choice of having our door open into a tree or into our sewer hookup. Also, they do little maintenance on trees adjacent to the interior roadways so maneuvering will result in scraping limbs along the coach side. On the positive side, the electric worked well. Water pressure was low varying between 20 and 40 psi. Sewer connection was an old PVC pipe with no threads and was so high above the ground that the sewer connection was uphill. WIFI with my signal amplifier worked well most of the time, but we were right next to the office, so this might not have been so good farther away. At this site my satellite dish worked well. - ramblin' vagabonds

The inner roads are a dirt/gravel mixture, and a lot of dust. We walked the route to our spot as the two staff members had different opinions on the route to take. We stayed 7 nights , added 2 extra nights to the original booking and was charged 10.00 extra for doing so. It's called a change fee. I have never been charged a fee by a private camp ground to add days. 45.15 a night for elec, water and cable. Our site 327, is a back in and hook ups are at the front of your rig. So you can only back in as far as you can reach with water, cable and electric. 2 very large cement blocks were in the middle of the parking spot where your rv goes, took 2 of us to move each. The tow vehicle had to park sideways in front of the rv to fit. Our picnic table had one side that was breaking if you sat on it. We were surrounded by seasonal campers, one played music loudly every day we were there and allowed his dog to run freely. The park has a lot of seasonal sites, a little like a trailer park in appearance as their areas were loaded with stuff to include empty beer cans on the ground. bathrooms/showers are all in the same building, down the middle is separate men and women's toilets. On the right and left side are the unisex showers, you use a code to get. The showers are large, plenty of hot water but open at the top. Men or women are in the showers next to you. There was always hair in the showers. They appeared as if they needed a good scrubbing. Bathrooms were semi clean, trash in stalls needed to be dumped more often then what they were. Laundry room has Cold water only. I heard dogs barking several times and only saw one running freely. If your site is close to the border you will have a fence next to you. Things I would like to see change, cleaner showers, women's showers separate from the men's, an on line description of your site (hookups are in front of the Rv), no change fee (some times your site has issues) I would not camp here again. - hiker13
Aug 2018 - $52.00
I will preface this by saying that this is the first time I've ever given a campground a bad review. Our site seemed to be an afterthought with no real boundaries, no gravel, not level, low water pressure, and so many tree roots, it was not possible to even use our rug or chairs. The picnic table was so nasty we did not use it (even though they had brand new ones at their workshop). The internet is non-existent unless you sit right outside the camp store. They have about 7 access points, of which 6 do not work. So, even when you're sitting at the office, if your device grabs one of the other 6 access points, it won't work. Even then, you'll get 1 Mbps at best. Normally, this would not be an issue as I'd just use my hotspot. On Mount Desert Island, cell towers are virtually non-existent so you will get 1 bar of 1x if you're lucky. I asked the staff for 2 days to PLEASE reboot their system and they chose to do nothing because it was fine for them in the office. They will even feign surprise when you tell them it's not working. When pushed, they say that you can go sit outside the office if you need a connection. The TV connection at our site was unusable. They came to the site and confirmed, "yep, it's not working". When we asked to move sites after the first night, we were told that nothing was available. For the remainder of our stay, the site next to us (level, gravel, etc) sat unused. In other words, this staff seemed not to care that we had a crappy site, internet, TV, etc. The good news is, there is so much to see on MDI that we were gone most of the time. But, if you're like me and need to get a little work done in the evenings, plan on driving into town and sitting in front of the library. Finally, when considering this campground, we found it was far away from just about everything (Bar Harbor, Schoodic Point, etc). This place has LOTS of potential, but is in desperate need of an attitude adjustment. - RVhappyHere

Seawall Campground - Southwest Harbor - Acadia National Park - Site C16 Date of Stay: September 2018 Site C16 Overall Rating: This was a two night stay for us and it cost $15 with golden age. It is the peaceful campground in this National Park and reservations are needed. The campground also closes at the end of September (this might change). We loved the campground. There are about 31 RV sites in loop C which was built just for RV's. One can camp with a RV in some of the other loops but when you reserve make sure you can fit. Nice bathrooms but no showers but they can be found outside the park for a fee. It is a walk away or quick bike ride away from the seawall in a beautiful area. There is hiking, biking, kayaking and a quick ride to Echo Lake where there is swimming. To get over to the parkway road and Bar Harbor it is about 30 minutes away so take the free shuttles... Nice campground with Ranger talks and walks, free LL Bean shuttles that take you all around Acadia National Park..! Some campers stop at the local grocery store in Southwest Harbor where they will steam lobsters for you on the go. We camped at Seawall Campground (NPS Campground) in a Motorhome and really enjoy our stay here. - gsnakehill
Aug 2018 - $15.00
Seawall is a typical National Park campground, so dry camping is the order of the day. Our site was heavily shaded and quite spacious. Leveling the trailer was a bit of a challenge, but we managed. Bath houses (no showers) were conveniently located as were potable water spiggots. We were in the "C" loop where generators are allowed, and thankfully it appears that most campers are now using the quieter inverter type machines. There were one or two exceptions but they weren't nearby. We have used a Honda 3000is for years and find it to be an excellent power source when needed. Solar was difficult in this park due to rather dense forest. We enjoyed our stay here and will return in the future. - Airstreamers
Aug 2018 - $40.00
Typical national park campground. No showers. There are water spigots located throughout. Our site was partially shaded with enough open sunlight for our solar panel. We had decent ATT 4G LTE service during our stay. Conveniently located to two good hikes close by - Wonder Land and Ship Harbor. - ZimmyGo

This campground was the last of our 3-month trip. We stayed at 56 different campgrounds, and this was one of the best. Very clean and well-managed, helpful staff and friendly vibe. They have a large tenting area, and that was full, even in late October. The RV area, where we stayed was also nearly full. That said, the campground didn't feel overrun or crowded. Our site was level and easy to back into with our Class C motor home. The sites on our side of the road were open and sunny. It was shadier on the other side of the road. We were able to access on foot several of the hiking trails of Acadia National Park, handy because we were traveling without a towed vehicle. The owners have invested in solid infrastructure, including a recently updated WiFi system. Easily the best WiFi of our trip. Kudos to Smuggler's Den - I wish more campgrounds took WiFi as seriously. We will definitely be back! - DaveAndJoyce
Sep 2018 - $48.00
Traveling in a 38 foot coach we stayed 6 nights in a site for big rigs. We had the first site to the left and it was quiet, private, and level cement. Our satellite did not work here (to many large trees to get reception). If you are looking for a quiet and clean park where you can sit outside and relax... go here. We enjoyed our stay, and would go back. - JDC10
Aug 2018 - $68.00
The main (perhaps only) draw to this campground is that it is near Acadia. That said, it isn't bad - just nothing to write home about. Entry and exit was easy and the concrete pad was level . The staff was nice and the park was fairly well maintained. There were lots of garbage cans near the office and some were overflowing. You couldn't tell that until you lifted the wood lid. The pool was heavily used by kids and they seem to like it. There is no off-leash area and they don't want dogs in the office. One complaint is that they were a bit paranoid about leaving dogs in the camper. Sometimes, you want to leave a dog in a safe RV while going out to dinner and such. They admit that the internet is unreliable but they claim to be working on it. It isn't clear that they actually have a plan to improve it. Verizon cell phone access is terrible. There is no data and phone calls cannot be counted upon. Naturally, this isn't the campground's fault, but worth noting. You could always skype when the internet was working. - Brian Jay Gould

We park on top of hill. I wouldn't suggest big rigs for upper loop. Strange setup of campsites. We arrived in dark with two RV (one 19'TT and one 31' FW). Neither sites were easy to setup in. Electric and water hookups were in wrong places, needed extra cords and hoses required to reach. No dump station or sewer hookups. You would need to used Acadia NP campground with an additional fee for park pass. Bathrooms clean, but extra charge for hot water in shower. Extra charge for big rigs, not worth it without any extra amenities, such as, hot water, dump station or sewer hookup. Staff friendly. Good location. I would not camp here again or recommend. Good views from our campsites. The campground was pretty empty due to end of season. - Ridingtheroads
May 2012 - $60.00
A very beautiful campground. We were located above the rock quarry with a view of the sound. Very close to the national park as well as Bar Harbor. We had a large site which was fairly level and shaded. The grocery store was close by. I would have rated this place higher but I had some concerns. First you had to pay extra for hot water for your showers and for dumping. I thought the high rate should have covered that. I was told everyone in the area charges the same. Be prepared. Second concern was for security. Our site was about 20ft from a neighborhood road. There should have been a fence separating us. - kenbarbie
Aug 2011 - $58.00
We chose this particular campground because of its location on the "quiet side" of the island near where I wanted to take a lot of photos. The campground is much better suited to tent camping than to RV's. I guess I didn't do my homework thoroughly as we a few "add on" charges I didn't anticipate. The dump station costs extra according to your unit size! The Wi-Fi was down and not available until our last day here. The only bathhouse was fairly new but not at all well maintained. There were many porta-potties spread throughout the tent only camping area. The staff was quite friendly but the office was often unattended and they had very few items for sale. Some RV sites would be difficult to maneuver into but we had a nice level site with easy access. - gilr

Location is great, you could walk to the ocean from the camp grounds in 5 min. Bathrooms were nice and had sinks to wash your dishes outside them, cold water only. Dump station and water fill is at entrance, easy to get in and out. Water is also available in the camp grounds, not at your camp site. The site we were on was a pull through as most are in the park. Tight to get in and unlevel. Lots of overhead and side trees to brush against with your rig. I found the sites very unsafe, you had traffic on front and back of your site and there was no control of the speed limit. I would be very careful with children when camping here. You can use your generator, but no set time frame, so when someone doesn't like you using it to charge your coach, you get a loud knock on the door, questioning your need to use it as he doesn't use one for his tent. Generator was on 12 min. The 3 days we were there generators were used by everyone around 15 min to an hour each time. There is a set time to start and end 8 am to 7 pm, I would rather see a set time to avoid conflict with non generator users. example:8am to 10 am and 5 pm to 7 pm. We did not use the showers outside the park, and there is lots to do in the area. - hiker13
Oct 2018 - $15.00
This is a typical National Park campground. The staff were very helpful under some temporarily trying circumstances. The obvious advantage is that you are walking distance to beautiful ocean views and great hiking trails. The down side is the showers are a mile away and are a commercial operation. There were a bit rustic and the cleanliness was varied. The floors or the bathrooms in the campground were very wet. The site was a pull though and pretty private. Acadia is an amazing park and this campground was a good experience. Just be aware that you are roughing it a bit in exchange for excellent location. - lancecamper

Blackwoods Campground (NPS Campground), Acadia National Park, Maine September, 2018 - $15.00 Site A047 This was a three night stay. We have been here so many times before kids, with kids and now just the two of us. Still love this campground even though it has no services. Two Loops A with 152 sites and B with 138. Cost $15 with the Golden Age Pass Clean bathrooms available which are old and showers can be found right outside the campground entrance for a fee. There is a small grocery store right outside the entrance as well with wood and a lobster pit. The free LLBean shuttles pick you up at the campground from the last week in June until Columbus Day to take you all around the island. * This might change because there is a whole new policy coming out within the year and the talk is that they might stay open longer and reservations might be needed for parking in the park. Make reservations because at Blackwoods they have limited RV sites and since the last time we were here two years ago - now when you reserve you get the site you reserve. It is "site specific" park. We love this campground, its beauty, the ranger talks, the walk down to the cliffs on Loop Road and hiking. So much to do in the area with Jordan Pond, Bar Harbor, Sand Beach, Ranger walks and talks, tours to the islands from Bar Harbor, Northeast and Southwest Harbors. This is just a great National Park. Where can you go and get your lobster boiled for you at the grocery stores & markets. Acadia now has three great campgrounds - Blackwoods, Seawall and the newest one Schoodic Woods. Blackwoods is the closest to Bar Harbor and the Loop Road so we always stay here at least three nights and many times visit the others for two or more nights. Reservations are needed for all three especially for RV's Blackwoods is listed as reservation only. This National Park is so busy in the fall now that all the cruise ships come in. - gsnakehill

This is a smaller KOA compared to others we have stayed at. Check in was quick and easy and staff was friendly. Nice pool near the entrance. Interior roads were good. Our site was directly across from the restrooms which is a long building with individual bathrooms{shower, sink and toilet}. They were kept as clean as possible considering the use they got from the group campers using them. Site was grass and needed a little leveling. Had a picnic table and fire ring. Very close to neighbor sites. No problems with electric, water or septic. Recommend using the free shuttle that picks you up at the entrance to go to Bar Harbor and Acadia NP. - 21fbrs

This is a large, and relatively open campground. Some water views, beach is rocky so no real swimming in our area. All amenities worked fine. Their only shortcoming is that many sites are far from level and I saw many units that even with blocks were at quite an angle. A food truck on site had great Clam Chowder and Lobster rolls. What a treat! - camperkatie
Sep 2018 - $99.00
This park has a great location. Great water views and access. We spent 18 days here in two different spots. We were 9 days in site 346 and then site 358 which was across the road. 346 is right on the water with unobstructed view of the bay. It is adjacent to the public access to the water. The public access was not too big of an issue for the most part. Some have not been trained in campground etiquette. 358 is a corner site with good view of the bay. Large site with lots of room. The only issue is it is quite unlevel. We never were able to get our coach leveled satisfactorily even with blocks. It is also satellite challenged. But it is a lovely site. These sites do not have sewer, but the park provides a great pump out service. Very reasonable and timely. The staff is great and the park is extremely well maintained. The trash cans are emptied on a continuous basis. We would stay here again. - RPFawcett

One of the larger KOAs we've stayed in, this location is close to Acadia, on the water. Our site had zero trees, however, it was close to the ocean. The sites seemed packed together but overall was easy to navigate the campground for parking our 21' TT with one slide. Would stay here again when in the area! - michigan40camper

Hard park to rate accurately. Close to Bar Harbor, local shuttle picks up/drops off at office, so great for getting to BH and Acadia NP. However, getting full hookups is a compromise--30a only with sewer. 50a only w/o sewer. Restrooms/showers old, cost for showers is .50/7 mins, and hot water doesn't show up for 45 seconds. Some of the bathroom sinks do not have hot water. Area is very clean. Probably would try another CG next trip. - wingnut60

An older campground that stays booked up every summer. West of Bar Harbor on Rt 3 and away from the crowds. Second trip to Hadley's and nothing has changed, no improvements noticeable. 30 Amp service, 45 PSI water, and sewer hook-up. WiFi is not secure, 4 bar/4G Verizon cell service. No cable, 8 OTA TV channels. Campground interior roads are confusing. - Bburgbrewer
