We stayed here in 36’ Motor Home. Sites are all pull throughs. We stayed in #166 and had lots of acorns dropping. Gravel access roads but easy to navigate. We camped at Moody Beach RV Campground in a Motorhome.

As a Thousand Trails member, this is one of our "stay free" campgrounds. Retail rates are $80/night or higher. The campground is cramped and wooded, so negotiating the interior roads can be difficult in larger rigs. We've been visiting this location for several years and have noted that its looking more like a trailer park than a seasonal campground. As sites are sold to "annual tenants," there seem to be fewer spaces available for those visiting for a few days or weeks. Honestly, if it weren't for the 'free' price, we would no longer visit this campground. We camped at Moody Beach RV Campground in a Motorhome.

FHU sites with the utilities next to the road and you pull through parallel to the road, so you are facing the people from the next road. Not too close; there are a lot of trees all over. The water quality is good; electric good. They offer cable but it costs $$. Got about 20+ OTA antenna stations. The park has no walking trails or dog park, so you just walk around the park. I found a trail at the back of the park that leads to a subdivision where I was able to walk around and back. They have an adult center, game room, laundry room, and pool. We camped at Moody Beach RV Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Have lunch/dinner at the new Mexican restaurant Las Olas Taqueria. Subway approach to Mexican; worth a visit! Tour Kennebunkport on the trolley, have a beer at the Federal Jack's brewery and a lobster roll at the world famous Clam Shack. Visit the Bath Iron Works, and then the many sights in Portland.

Overall Rating:

The timing of our August stay at here put us in a popular area at its most popular time. Traffic up and down Highway 1 was more often than not backed up. The campground, too, was filled to capacity nightly. This campground is tight. There are many "parallel parking" spots that were laid out before rigs got as large as they are today. Some would work but many would be a challenge for the average big rig. In the "back" of the campground there are several pull-through "back to back" sites. The camper on the driver's side is very close. You then share a front yard with the camper on the passenger side of the camper. Depending on how people park their rigs this setup works fairly well. One complicating factor is that many sites have been rented out to long-term campers. Those folks tend to spread out to the very limit of their campsites. If you happen to have permanents on both sides of you it can feel even more packed in that it is already. Because of the narrow roads and placement of trees I couldn't get into the first site we tried. I moved to a different one and got in okay. Getting out was a bit of a challenge because of how the permanent site next to us was set up, keeping me from making the left hand exit I should have been able to make. Getting satellite TV anywhere in the campground is a challenge. Some people manage it, but you shouldn't arrive expecting to get satellite TV. My Verizon signal was marginal but generally usable. We paid for campground WiFi. I would give it a B- grade. Weekend evenings were pretty sluggish. I think all the sites are FHU - many are 50 amp. The campground is behind a large miniature golf course and not visible from Highway 1. Look for the big Wonder Mountain Fun Park sign. Next to that sign is, indeed, the Moody Beach Campground sign. You turn there, as though you are going to the miniature golf course. The campground offers shuttle van service to Footbridge Beach. The price is nominal and parking at the beach is expensive. We camped at Moody Beach RV Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Decent place to stay as a home base for access to the many attractions of the southern Maine coast but this place needs an overhaul. Staff was very friendly and helpful. There are two main sections - one where you parallel park your coach and all have 30 amp connections. The other area is mostly pull-throughs with 50 amp service. The parallel sites are difficult to get into unless you are very adept at maneuvering your unit. The pull through sites for the most part are very close together and in most cases only long enough for our 36' fifth wheel and our tow vehicle parked sideways. For example: between our site and the one next to us on the driver's side, our slide outs were about 4 feet apart. On the curb side, we shared a common picnic table / fire pit strip of dirt and occasional gravel. We were lucky that our neighbor on that side was not here all week otherwise we would have had to limit the length we opened our awnings otherwise they would overlap. Also, we could only extend our main awning about 3' as there were 2 trees in the way of a full extend. The gravel on the roads and in the campsites is long gone with only hints that it was once there. The area is mostly dirt which makes it quite messy when it rains. We will stay here again because of the prime location and the fact that we are thousand trail members, and I would recommend booking it for that reason. Just be aware of what you'll be getting. The access roads to the 50 amp pull through sites are lined with toads/two vehicles parked on both sides. Don't be surprised if you have to get out and ask someone(s) to move. We camped at Moody Beach RV Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

We had not planned to ever return here but since we had to rejoin Thousand Trails for family medical reasons we stopped here for 1 night, we could not obtain a reservation so were given the "overflow" area which is a grassy area just outside the regular campground and it turned out to be much better than having a site within the park since we were 1 of 4 RVs in that large area. Since the weather cooperated and A/C or heat were not needed we had a great night. We walked the entire park after dinner and saw that nothing has changed, the sites are cramped and dingy/dreary looking with the 50 amp section being side by side hookups we observed rigs with only 2 feet between slide outs. My feelings of claustrophobia from our first visit here did not change and I was thankful that we were assigned the overflow area. In reality, if your rig can do with just 30 amps I would recommend using those sites since they are parallel parked and seem to provide more room. As usual, everything here is extra, WIFI, cable etc. If it weren't for the fact that we are TT members we would not return. We camped at Moody Beach RV Campground in a Motorhome.

Parking is first come first serve. No heated pool. Hardly any activities, especially if you have children. Game room is old and video games are either outdated or broken. They don't refund money. Been to plenty of RV Campgrounds, never coming back here. Picnic table so old looks like it was going to fall apart. Also our water hookup broke, we had a flood. Called the office for help but after 5pm have to leave a message. Luckily people around the campsite helped us. Save your money. They need more activities for children and adults, during the whole month. Maybe bingo candy night? Comedian night? Karaoke night? etc.... Clean up the place... heat the pool. Don't tell people you are waiting for a part when you know it's never been heated. People look for a heated pool. We camped at Moody Beach RV Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Very nice Thousand Trails. Short and level full hookup 30 and 50 amp gravel sites. Most large rigs are put in the back with 50 amp service. There are also "parallel" sites up front for smaller and 30 amp rigs. Sites in back are tight and have side by side hookups. Mostly treed and no local channels so you must purchase cable if you want TV. WIFI is also paid if you want it and cell service is weak. Nice amenities, pool and store. Nice people! Very convenient to beach and activities in the Wells area. Park was clean, but roads are dirt for the most part and very narrow with low limbs. The layout of the sites are different as they are pull through but not as you would think, you pull over to the side of the road and sort of parallel park. There is a fence you need to pull around that have the pedestal and hookups on and your RV door faces the woods, not the road. This is easy and keeps your door away from the road, however your door faces the RV on the adjacent road which is about 40 feet away with trees between you, this takes away from your privacy. Over all I would go back and recommend to others. We camped at Moody Beach RV Campground in a Motorhome.

Clean, neat, but no room between trailers. While the CG is dog friendly, the area around the beach is not. The area is beautiful but it has a ton of tourists. Admittedly we were there over the Fourth of July, but the beach community had mile long traffic backups going into the center of town. The people were friendly and we enjoyed our time there. We stayed here for a few nights while visiting family in the area. It was a nice wooded area with tall trees and friendly staff. Most of the sites were filled with seasonal campers. There was lots of clutter everywhere. some sites were occupied by mobile homes on blocks. The empty sites had piles of concrete blocks. We were there early in the season. I talked with one seasonal resident and he said that 98% of the spots will be filled with seasonal residents by June. We camped at Moody Beach RV Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Good stop over but the trailer sites are secondary to selling cabins so are not easy to get in but all right once in the site. Good hook-ups. It is a campground that nickel and dime you with cable and wifi...so they keep their rates low but get you on other charges. So your rate can go to $30.00 easy. Other than that a nice place.
