We stayed here last June while a relative was in hospital. We were back for some follow up tests and another doctor's appointment. My first impression was WOW! Have they ever done a lot of clean up since the last time I was here. I commented in my review back then that I would have given them extra stars but for lots of dead wood from the flood and incredible rough roads. They have obviously been working all summer fixing that. Just before we arrived they had heavy rains so things were muddy but our campsite was fine. There were still some potholes and rough spots in the road but few and far between compared to last time. We had a back in site this time because we asked for a site with shade. It was spacious and they have privacy fencing. The forecast was for hot sunny weather. We got a lovely shady site under mature trees and their shade was much appreciated. The disadvantage was the hookup was at the very back of the site and our regular hose didn't reach. We had forgotten the long hose we usually carry at home but no issue since we were only there two days and we just dumped at the convenient dumpsite on the way out. Overall a wonderful stay. We enjoyed long walks along trails near and in the campground and saw many birds and wildflowers. We will come again. We camped at Turtle Crossing Campground RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Brandon is a small but full service little university city. Lots of great places to eat and shop. The campground has lovely trails all around and is big dog friendly.

This park was totally destroyed by flooding a few years ago and they are rebuilding it. The new build is very nice with big spacious lots available. Our pull through was the size of some really fine COE sites in the southern US. There are many trails and walking places. The setting is out in the country and there was no traffic noise, some railway noise in the distance. The campground has a large shallow natural dish pool for bathing and pretty sluggish prairie creek with a foot bridge over it. The rating would have been much higher except for two things. The flood wrecked many trees in what was once a riparian woodland and the stumps and wreckage are depressing and will likely take decades to come back. Not the fault of the owners of course. The roads are an absolute nightmare of pot holes. The owner was working on the roads while we were there so hopefully that situation will be fixed soon. Going in and out was a game of dodge the potholes and a lot of teeth shaking. We were there because of a family emergency with a member in hospital and we were unable to plan our stay. The owner was exceptionally supportive and understanding about the situation and most helpful about our inability to observe standard check in and check out times. Electric, water and sewer outlet were all in one spot in the middle of the site. We camped at Turtle Crossing Campground RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Brandon is a small city. On Victoria and 11st E there is one of the nicest and biggest fenced dog parks I have ever seen. It is about a ten minute drive from the campground. Moving around the city stick to 18th street and 1st street for north south travel as the railcard and river block most roads. The campground is very close to a large mall complex with a Walmart and restaurants.

Access and park roads are gravel. The road to the office goes up an incline where there is only parking for one rig. Not a good situation if there is more than one in the line up. I had to phone the manager for our site number because he was out in the park working. Our reservation was already paid for, so I didn't have to go back later to register. Access to our site was confusing. It was behind a couple of other sites and after determining that a space between two trees wasn't the route to it, I found the way in and was able to back into it safely. Our site was a gravel back-in that had the hookups in the rear. The water and electric were actually in the back of the adjacent site, but I managed to connect okay without any extensions. All utilities worked fine. At the back our site had electrical breaker boxes and meters for the section. There was a decent picnic table and a fire grill on site as well. There were small garbage cans placed throughout the park. Good thing it was windy because there was a slough behind some of the sites and there were black flies. Sites in our area were divided by fences, so there was some privacy. I found only one OTA TV station that was viewable. Wi-Fi was weak; could only connect to one booster and the internet when it worked was very slow. Not far from the office, the park has a concrete rimmed pond with a fountain in it. I believe people use it for wading or swimming and small boats are available for rent. Despite the lousy Wi-Fi, I would still stay here again. We camped at Turtle Crossing Campground RV Park in a Motorhome.

This park is still a work in progress. Pros: Acres of dog walking, quiet...far from major roads and railways, friendly and accommodating owners, laid-back feel, close to everything Brandon has to offer, on the banks of the Assiniboine River, nice center pool and fountain with a view for some sites. Cons: Interior roads are quite dusty, some sites are close together. We camped at Turtle Crossing Campground RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The Commonwealth Air Training Museum was a must see in our opinion. The Brandon farmers market was disappointing. It's held in a parkade so it was dirty and dark and hard to locate. The old Brandon Mental Hospital is an architectural gem and walking the grounds was a worthwhile experience. If you love Indian food the Chili Chutney restaurant is a real treat.

Beautiful large dipping pond with large fountain. Grounds were clean, spots were gravel and flat with nice grass, surrounded by trees. Not all spots have tree shade but a lot did. Service was great, very polite and helpful. Great recovery after flood. Fences had live edge woodwork, a very nice touch. Didn't use the facilities but everything at our site worked great and the office was new and very quaint. They even helped us find a place for our dog to run! This park is rebuilding after a devastating flood. It was partially open for full service sites. The pads are level. There's lots of open space. The owners went out of their way to help us. Wi-Fi worked well. We camped at Turtle Crossing Campground RV Park in a Motorhome.

This park used to be called Curran Park and there are a number of references to that on the internet. It has large pond size swimming pool which is a major attraction. 60-70% of the sites are in a mature wooded area, the rest are in the open. The roads are mud & gravel with lots of potholes, the sites in the woods have mainly dirt driveways and the ones in the open have gravel. The overall impression is that the place has gone downhill since changing ownership. We camped at Turtle Crossing Campground RV Park in a Motorhome.
