Wonderful, well organized, with a well stocked camp store. The 4pm info session on getting around DC is a must. We were able to navigate on the Metro and Circulator only because of the info we received here and purchased our Senior SMARTRIP cards right there. Made everything so easy. Take your map, circulator and metro leaflets with you and your DC sightseeing experience will be worry free. We drove to the College Park Metro Station to save time, parking $5.20 per day, but you can board a metro bus at the cg if desired. Our site was a premium, pull through with plenty of room for our toad, really nice. Love this place. We camped at Cherry Hill Park (Washington DC) in a Motorhome.

We had a premium FHU site, picnic table, patio table & chairs, BBQ, and fire pit. Unfortunately, we didn't really take advantage of the site features. Our site was a back-in to a berm of trees & underbrush. Very pretty. We didn't use the bathhouse but I checked it out-immaculately clean and bright. We stayed here for the ease of access to the bus/Metro. It was terrific! Within an hour we were on the Mall or at the National Zoo. We camped at Cherry Hill Park (Washington DC) in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

A noisy, overcrowded, urban campground, but can't beat the location for visiting the Washington, DC area. Very well organized asphalt entry area with multiple checkin lanes and opportunity to drop the toad. Interior access roads are asphalt barely wide enough for two cars to pass. Mostly backin sites with some pullthrus. Backin sites are arranged such that two way rig traffic is common since the sites are not arranged in chevrons so that both sides would be accessible from the same direction. This causes quite the congestion problem especially during high traffic periods like the Friday of a holiday weekend. This is complicated by putting rigs in spaces that are perhaps too small such that the tow vehicle hangs out into the access road. Two rigs passing can only be done in most areas by going partially off the road and utilizing part of the sites on either side of the road. Big rigs should come in and depart via Powder Mill Road thus avoiding the generally heavy congestion at Cherry Hill Road and US 1. Swing wide on entry into campground. Gravel sites with gravel patios (some with paver patios) and grass between the sites. The usual urban crowding with some sites being very close together. Sites are mostly level with picnic table and fire rings. Power, water, and sewer ok with sewer needing a donut. Most sites have no issues with satellite access. Cable ok. Campground wifi is Tengo with good signal @ 1.2Mbps dropping to completely unusable in the evenings; Verizon 2 bars at 21.7Mbps but dropping off a lot in the evening; T-Mobile 4 bars but only 184Kbps as I was out of high speed data at the time. Full single stream recycling on site. OK bike riding in the campground and looks like a good bike trail just outside the campground. Direct bus service to the metro station, but it's only a couple of miles drive to the station. Not a lot of good choices close to Washington, DC so we might return to visit the city. We camped at Cherry Hill Park (Washington DC) in a Motorhome.

Thanks very much for staying with us, and thanks for the feedback. We are indeed an urban campground, and we know that the level of activity, site size, etc. isn't for everyone. We appreciate the feedback about site arrangement, roads, and congestion - all good things for us to be mindful of as we continue to make changes and improve our facilities. We will also look into the Wifi and figure out what may have caused the slowdown. Thanks for giving us a try, and we're sorry we weren't quite the campground you were looking for. Should you choose to stay with us again next time you're in the area, please let us know and we'd be happy to try and get you in a site with a bit more space and easy access in and out of the park. Happy trails!

Wow, one of the best parks we have stayed in for the last 10 years on the road. Very helpful, courteous, and friendly staff. Check-in was quick and easy, and they were extremely helpful in finding us a site which would accommodate our coach, while allowing us an unobstructed satellite fix. This park has just about everything you would need on your trip. The office is adequately stocked with frequently needed RV necessities, parts, and supplies, as well as various food items you might frequently need. They also provide metro information, tickets, and tour offerings for the DC area. A metro bus stop is onsite as well. The interior roads are paved and easy to maneuver, and the whole park is well manicured and maintained. Most of the sites are fairly level, and the utilities are easily accessible. In fact, our site had 3 separate electrical boxes, each with 20, 30, and 50 amp receptacles. There was one at the drivers side back, one at the drivers side front, and one at the passenger side front. There was only one each, water and sewer hookup, in the normal, driver side, mid section. I95 is close by, so the road noise was the only thing we found a bit distracting. But the proximity to 95 also made for a short drive to the park entrance. When we return to the DC area, Cherry Hill Park will be our only choice for our base of operations. We camped at Cherry Hill Park (Washington DC) in a Motorhome.

Excellent Park! I cannot think of anything this park did not offer. Top notch, friendly, helpful employees! Never was there a time when one went into the restrooms or showers when they were dirty. I don't know how many times a day they cleaned, but they were always spotless! Everyday at 4pm a class was held on everything about Washington DC and how to get around. A city bus comes to the RV park which takes you to the Metro. Thanks to the class, the Metro was surprisingly easy to navigate and by the second day you were helping others on their first day! Took the night tour of the monuments which left from the park. We were also told about the Circulator which offered free transportation around DC monuments and buildings. There is a cafe on site which had good food and was convenient. Many activities and amenities are offered. Site was pretty level, didn't take much to get level. The only suggestion I would have is that the park publicize the fact that you can donate your Metro cards that still have credits on them to give to Homeless Veterans by inserting them in a box in the office. This way the Vets can use them to get to doctor appts, etc. This park is way better than a ten! We camped at Cherry Hill Park (Washington DC) in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed at Cherry Hill on family vacation to the DC area. Can you hear 495 traffic moving along from your campsite, yeah, especially from the 1700 loop we were in, does it take away from the campground, NO. We had an awesome site with plenty of room, more amenities that. You could shake a stick at, and the customer service is too notch. Everyone from the front desk, to the person that helps with yours is way above par. Would definitely recommend if you are looking for a place and you are going to DC. Greenbelt metro station is one of the easiest to get to from the campground. Get on 495 towards Richmond and it is the very next exit. We did this every day going to be tourist in DC.

This is our first "10" rating! This is the place to be if you want to visit DC and surrounding areas. They even have a afternoon "class" on how to get in and out of DC via a bus from the park to the Metro and beyond. That saves us a TON of time figuring it out. This is a good value when you look at a lot of the costs too be in and around DC. We will be back! We camped at Cherry Hill Park (Washington DC) in a Motorhome.

It is DC! There is so much to do you can burn yourself out. The best piece of advice from the park class was about the "Circulator" which is a free bus that takes you around DC's major attractions. It is a great way to get the lay of the land if you aren't familiar with DC. Food choices are a million!

This was a 3-night quick stay during our D.C. trip. The only disappointment we had during this time was that we weren't able to enjoy all the ammenities of the park. The sites were beautiful and well maintained. All the facilities were very clean, and the staff was extremely nice. Staying near the pool appeared to be a great place for campers with kids. We were on the farther side of the grounds which made it quieter at night for us, and a nice walk to the pools. I would highly suggest planning a little extra time you can stay at the grounds, as they have a LOT of things for families to do. We missed out on the beautiful putt putt, but would highly recommend it. We will definitely stay here again when we're in the area. We camped at Cherry Hill Park (Washington DC) in a Travel Trailer.

This was a great park to tour DC. We stayed here for 2 1/2 weeks and utilized the bus that came into the park and took you to the subway station. Also took the night tour of the monuments from the park. Staff were extremely helpful providing a session on transportation from the park and the buses and subway systems. Park was easy to navigate our 46’ fifth wheel. Sites were level in our pullthru site. Park is extremely clean and also provided shuttle service within the park (very helpful when it was raining). Pool area was very nice and they also have a cafe on site. We camped at Cherry Hill Park (Washington DC) in a Fifth Wheel.

Really nice campground. Clean and up kept well. We didn’t spend a lot of time there as we were just passing through. We went into D.C. for the day. We plan on going back with friends and staying a little longer. There’s only a couple things that I don’t prefer. The sites are so close to each other, you barely have any room. There are some roomy sites (like ours, 935), but you have to really look for them. When I booked online, I looked at both the campground map and at the satellite view of the campground to choose my site. I made sure we had space and TREES! A lot of the camper sites are lacking trees. They have a lot of saplings around, so maybe someday there will be shade in those areas. We camped at Cherry Hill Park (Washington DC) in a Motorhome.

We drove into the city ourselves. It’s about a 35 minute drive or so. You can find & reserve parking ahead of time if you just google parking in D.C. there are apps you can download, we used “ParkWhiz”. And bought a spot in a parking garage for the day for $17. There are electric scooters (by Uber, Lyft, Lime...) you can rent in the city; they’re all over the place.

Thanks for staying with us! We have a wide variety of sites (shade & trees vs. satellite access, different sizes, and proximity to amenities), so we're always happy to help a guest choose the site that's right for them or move them to a different site if they're not happy once they arrive. This was our second stay and wouldn't consider anywhere else. Upon arrival we were handed an information packet that made us feel like we were on a cruise ship. Not only was this a prime campground, they provided so much assistance for our DC visit. City buses come right to th CG and take you to the Metro station. Metro passes are sold at the campground. The concierge can direct you in most efficient Metro routes. Additionally nice camp store, pool, diner, and laundry. We camped at Cherry Hill Park (Washington DC) in a Travel Trailer.
