Jul 2019 - $70.00
First Impression: Open and spacious. Well maintained landscaping. Safety: No concerns. Access: Get to the Veterans Highway exit off I-97 (exit 10A), cross under the highway, turn left, watch for small KOA sign on right, turn onto Hog Farm Road. Follow signs. Access road in excellent condition, good signage. Garmin GPS got lost as CG mailing address isn't physical address. Office: Friendly staff, large store with snacks, food and soft drinks, RV and camping equipment items. Credit cards accepted. Online reservations available. My price reflects the KOA discount. Facilities: Nice pool, no spa, no fitness room. Small, clean laundry room with commercial machines. Nice restrooms/showers, clean, no mold. Propane sales. Playground with bounce pad. Off-leash dog park. Campground: Not in a flood plain. No storm shelter available. Lightly wooded with big trees around perimeter. Interior roads are wide, dirt/gravel and asphalt in good condition with gentle turns and no overhead obstacles. Big rig and long coach friendly. Tent areas and cabins but no yurts. Sites are all spacious, level, packed gravel, pull-through and back-in, grass between. All utilities at middle of site. Electric is ala carte (mine was 20/30A); no meters. Adequate water pressure with good taste. Sewer pipe is 4" threaded, about 2" above ground level. No patios; usable picnic tables. Fire rings. Satellite views vary but high perimeter trees. Some sites get free cable TV. OTA TV found 34 channels (Baltimore and Washington). Free Wi-Fi with excellent coverage and bandwidth. Verizon phone at 3 bars; 4G at 2 bars. Recycle bins. Noise: No railroad, aircraft, or traffic noise but US-32 behind CG is very, very loud. Bug Report (late July): no insect issues. Runners: CG roads ok for running. Yoga: grass between sites good for your mat. Conclusion: Score 6-Nice. Unfortunately, there are few CG options in the area. - StephenK
Jul 2019 - $72.00
Stayed for 5 nights in a motorhome towing - pull through was large and able to park car behind the motorhome. Our site was very convenient to all amenities - pool, showers, camp store, and playground. No trees on our site which was great for our satellite - there is no CATV at this park. Convenient to DC by car, trolley, or metro. Will stay here again. - Jeff & Terry
May 2019 - $80.00
We have stayed at this park 3 times since 2011. It does not appear to have improved in 9 years. The sites are still uneven, most have little or no gravel so are muddy when it rains, dusty when dry. The roads inside the campground are dirt. There are few 50 amp sites but we got one because we booked in March. The location is great. It is a shame this park carries the KOA name as one assumes a quality that is not available. Interior roads need to be resurfaced with gravel, sites need to be leveled, and more 50 amp spots installed. - leciel19

This is not an RV park. Instead, it is a mobile home park that happens to have three long-term RV sites nearby. Sites rent only on a monthly basis at $795/mo, including all utilities except cable and phone. You get a regular street address and USPS mailbox at the street. The sites are very bare bones, with gravel pads that are pretty level, picnic tables at two of the sites but no patios, full-hookups, and grass is mowed religiously by on-site caretaker who lives just two doors down and is a bit nosy. The sites sit right on Bull Neck Creek. This is a blessing and a curse. Great views of the water, fishing, and lots of waterfowl, but the area is prone to flooding, and the sites get boggy fast. We often find ourselves stepping out our door and into a puddle after a big rain. In the event of a tropical storm, hurricane, or unusually high tides you will have to evacuate. The driveway into the sites is not paved so gets rutty and muddy in snow and rain. If you aren't careful, your vehicle and rig can get stuck very easily. Septic tanks sometime back up, but maintained man will pump them for you. Electric, water, and cable supplies reliable. Very quiet park and neighborhood. We've been here nearly a year and have never seen a police car or ambulance in the area. We've also had no neighbors in the other two sites during that time. The mobile home park sits right between two county parks with fishing and boat ramps, so recreation is readily available. Property manager (who is located off site) is very friendly and helpful and will work to accommodate your needs. Pets are allowed ONLY on the RV sites, not in the mobile home park or in the stick-built homes nearby. Large, open field nearby where you can walk your pets. You are responsible for taking your garbage to the curb once a week and supplying your own garbage can. Raccoons and stray cats in the area, so you don't want to sit your trash out unprotected. Sites are about a block away from railroad tracks, and trains do come through in the wee hours. High tension power immediately adjacent to the sites. This said, these are the ONLY RV sites near Baltimore that allow pets, have full hookups, cable access, AND allow long-term residents. Lots of mobile home parks in the area do allow RVers, but most won't allow pets. If you plan to winter over in this park, know that you'll get to shovel the 100 feet or so to the street in the event of a blizzard (we had three this last winter). The county does plow the streets, and there is some car parking about a block up, so you can park your car or truck there in the event of snow. Carpenter ants are a problem here, and they will eat the wood in your RV, so be careful. We haven't yet found a good remedy for them except keeping the tree branches over our rig trimmed back. Mosquitoes are also fierce because of the nearby creek. I'd give the park a higher rating if the sites and driveway were paved, if the drainage were better, and if the monthly rate was a bit lower, but I suppose this is the cost of living right on a tributary of the Chesapeake and only 20 minutes from downtown Baltimore. - Mary Jo

Sep 2013 - $19.00
Since my last visit the campground has become populated with permanent party personnel, making reservations difficult. Effectively half of the sites are occupied by long term occupants. It has become more of a housing area, rather than a FAMCAMP. - hw8200
Apr 2013 - $18.00
I would expect that a campground associated with the US Naval Academy would be more up to date. This campground needs an upgrade to bring to the standard you find at USMA and USAFA. - hw8200
Nov 2012 - $9.00
The campground is not in the Academy section of the Navy base. That makes it hard to find and difficult to get to. One has to drive through a residential area on a curvy road where there is a lack of signs pointing to the campground. That is one issue that makes it not big rig friendly. Another reason is that the interior campground road is gravel and hilly with some sharp turns. Most of the sites are concrete pads, but they are not long enough to provide plenty of space for a longer RV. I noticed just one pull through. Power is only 30 amp. There is no sewer. I did not use the dump station. The bath house is an older, heated, cinderblock building. It was clean, but adequate only to serve its purpose. The Wi-Fi signal is not generated from within the campground and is weak. There is nothing for the kids to do. A primitive area exists for tent use, but sites aren’t marked. Verizon 3G was fine. During another season, I suspect there would be little satellite signal reception because there a lot of trees. Over the air TV channels are plentiful. The campground is half full of permanents; most likely service members who are stationed there. It is a short drive to the full service commissary, Exchange, gas station, and golf course. Check in is at the MWR/gym facility that is several blocks past the campground. There are no convenient places to park an RV while you register. They honor the America the Beautiful card for a 50% discount and that is reflected in my rate. This is just an OK campground that is better suited for shorter rigs and those who want an inexpensive place to stage from while being a tourist. It won’t be on my return list. - RLM

An Excellent Military FamCamp close to Washington DC and Baltimore. Plenty of room between sites. Grassy areas to walk the dogs on. Nice concrete pads with gravel patios, firepits and picnic tables. Lots of road construction going on around the base so be careful with the directions. Very large base with all the amenities you'd expect. The BX and Commissary are really nice. - RLKeller

Very nice campsite with level concrete pads. Showers/restrooms very clean. Only complaint it needed mowing. Great place to stay when visiting Washington/Baltimore areas. - RGBG
Jul 2019 - $35.00
nice military family camp. no pool on the site, but Ft. Meade has a pool you can use. Getting to the campground was a little challenging, directions are not good. PX / Gas station were close by. the restrooms were always clean, showers were clean. the restroom/shower building was centrally located and close by. campground is well maintained. when we arrived our 50 amp plug was damaged and not usable, the engineers came out right away and repaired it. power was good. the office / store is a typical military building, nicely maintained and functional. limited camping supplies available. we would stay here again. - Chief55M

Pleasant c402ampground host was kept busy trimming low hanging branches and repairing electrical hook-ups on multiple sites. The cause of the needed repairs was previous installation of poor quality sockets. Scenic and woodsy. Cost includes $6.25 transaction fee. - Sue S
Jun 2018 - $26.00
Reiterating what others have stated: approach from the west and you're OK; approach from the east and beware the 11 foot bridge (and we saw NO warning signs!!); 30 amp only; entry road is indeed steep, but not really a problem unless your vehicle is underpowered; a few sites looked like they would require more care to get into with larger rigs. Other tidbits we learned: sites are pretty widely spaced and thus quite private; very wooded which makes it a nice 10 degrees cooler, but forget about satellite anywhere; the potable water is in one spot and the dump is in another and both are on the inside "electric" loop; you must use their wood, but they have plenty; you have to make a 90 degree turn to exit, which isn't a big deal unless there are cars queued up at the entrance like when we left --- we had to thread the needle; when leaving the park the entrance ramp on to Hwy 40 is very short, so you'll have to wait for a gap and/or floor it. As others have stated, this is a great state park to get away from it all with a classic feel and hiking trails, pavillions, ranger programs and the quiet of the woods at night. We didn't explore the trails or woods as we used this as a base for exploring Baltimore, so we went into the city every day. Our site was 429, the last on the electric loop, which is very long and has the added advantage that you can go the wrong way on the one way road for about 20 yards and pull right into your driveway without having to go all the way around the loop when returning to camp. - darwinmoore
Apr 2018 - $28.00
Good for what it was - a reasonable state park very close to Baltimore. We stayed here while visiting my daughter who lives in the city. Easy access into Baltimore. Most sites are spacious and look easy to get into. Rest rooms were dirty and didn't appear to be cleaned during our stay. Our site was very difficult to get into, though the campground hosts were familiar with it and spent a half hour with us helping us jockey our rig back and forth to get in. We made a list of sites we will use next time, which does NOT include 427 - avoid that site if you have anything other than a small trailer or class B camper. - DaveAndJoyce

Aug 2018 - $57.00
Elevated views of the Chesapeake Bay and well-manicured sites highlight this campground just south of Rock Hall, MD. Ample, large sites for tents overlook the shore looking west, affording awesome sunsets; however, the 20- to 30-foot-high position above the Bay means no swimming or fishing from the shore. Most of the campground's sites are reserved for long-term campers. Most of the sites are narrow and well-shaded; the inner rows surround a grassy area with a playground, pond and volleyball court. No sewer or pump-out service. An ample number of dump stations exist; all are well-maintained. No planned activities for children or families. Place was pretty quiet by 11 each night. We would stay again. - Lancaster Camper
Jun 2018 - $54.00
One of the most well maintained and beautiful parks we have stayed in. The showers could use some updating and they are a little on the small side but very doable. The owners & staff were very friendly and our visit could not have been any better. We would come here again anytime. - JOHN DEAS
Jun 2017 - $57.00
This is a beautiful "resort" style park. The grounds are well landscaped and I don't blame them for not allowing parking or mats on the grass. The price is not high. This campground was full, and was turning away reservations, they must be doing something right. The wifi was strong in my site, the local antenna was incredible, you can pick-up Washington and Baltimore stations so no real need for cable. I have been here three times and have noticed that this campground has improved every time, and I am looking forward to my next visit. - Maryland Traveler

Oct 2015 - $35.00
This is a unique facility. The four sites are narrow, gravel, and fairly level. There is only electric (two with 30 amp and two with 50 amp service) and cable, no water or sewer. All this being said, it worked for us. RVs with slides on both sides would find the sites very tight. There was very good lighting. The members of the Lodge were extremely nice, and we were invited to dine with them. For $14 we had a wonderful meal, and were able to have wine for less than $3/glass. You need to time your arrival and departure carefully, because when Lodge members arrive, the parking lot is small, and cars will block egress to the sites. We would definitely return if in the area. If all sites were in use, it could get claustrophobic. - EdGuru
Sep 2015 - $35.00
Prices have changed since previous review - 2015 new costs are $20 Elk member, $35 non. This is for electric only - or you can refill water by pulling up to front of building during times the place is closed. Closest dump is 10 miles away and is cost to sewer plant.
Other reviewer was right, get there early in the day to get your rig parked (4 sites, all back ins and the folks coming to the bar or meetings park on empty sites. Sites are really close - if you have opposing slides, you'll be inches to the next rig. And the landscaping between sites makes walking to the paved area difficult - and if it rains, it gets muddy quickly. Electric posts are at front edge of site, bring an extension cord if you plug in from the rear of your unit. Sites are right next to an outdoor bar and the horseshoe pits. They also hold turkey shoots on weekends so it gets rather noisy.
The plus to this location is proximity to Annapolis, just on the eastern side of the Bay Bridge. They have some picnic tables and a big fire ring near one site that's supposedly open to all campers. - yesmar
Jul 2013 - $20.00
One of the nicer Elks Lodges - even open to non-members. Prices: $15 if member of this lodge, $20 if member of other Elks Lodge, $25 if non-member. Very nice people at lodge. There are 4 sites - 2 with 30-amp, 2 with 50-amp. Fresh water available at front of lodge to fill tanks. Sites are narrow, but plenty deep for the biggest of rigs. Try to come before 3pm when bar opens - if not, the lot may be difficult to maneuver to fill water and/or back into sites. We would stay here again. - campingandtravels.blogspot.com

Sep 2017 - $10.00
We spent 5 nights here, going to Washington DC every day for tourist reasons. This is an incredible bargain as it is about 10 miles away from DC, and only about 2 miles to the Greenbelt Metro station. The first night we were there we were by ourselves at the end of the campground, the grass was about a foot high, and my wife said it felt creepy. The next day they mowed the grass and over the time we were there, more people came in to camp. There are no hookups, but we were fine in our self contained motor home. It rained a lot while we were there, when we left the dump station was flooded so we couldn't dump. We didn't look at the restrooms. - Russell G
May 2017 - $20.00
Thick trees in serious need of trimming. Interior roads very tight, sites paved but many unlevel, and dry camping only. 1 shower stall for men in all of D loop, and that needed cleaning. Never saw the camphost, maintenance crew drove around but never saw them get out and do anything. Rain created muddy mess, garbage strewn about and not addressed. - rvrrat520
Nov 2016 - $8.00
This is of course a NP campground. It is a little bit of heaven in a very large city. Like most NP campgrounds it is in need of a lot of repairs and updates, but if it were not a NP it probably won't even be here. I'm sure the property values in the area would make such a large section of land out of the range of most RV parks. In fact the only other RV park in the area charges $70 a night and that would have been way over our heads to stay at. There are trees everywhere and except for the faint noise of the busy highways on all sides you would think you were way out in the country. Those busy highways are what you have to take to get here but with patience and careful driving it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. The roads inside the CG are a little rough and in need of repair. The sites could be a little larger and a little more level but we found one that would fit our 40' MH. There were picnic tables at every site but the fire rings were old and falling apart if they were even there at all. You are only 1 1/2 miles from the train station that takes you to downtown DC but we drove our car and after finding a hens teeth parking space we spent a wonderful day walking the DC Mall area. There were very few people the so it was easy to use the one shower in our loop but it would be difficult when it is busy. Most sites are back in but there are a few pull-through. The reservation system is fairly accurate in describing the size and levelness so if it says slightly unlevel you should believe them. Water was available close by and there is a dump station. The small visitors center was staffed by very helpful Park Service and volunteer people who directed us on ways to get around the city. Of course being in the city the cell and internet signal were very good. I would highly recommend this great CG for anyone with a desire to visit the Capital of the US. - rhianna

Wonderful, well organized, with a well stocked camp store. The 4pm info session on getting around DC is a must. We were able to navigate on the Metro and Circulator only because of the info we received here and purchased our Senior SMARTRIP cards right there. Made everything so easy. Take your map, circulator and metro leaflets with you and your DC sightseeing experience will be worry free. We drove to the College Park Metro Station to save time, parking $5.20 per day, but you can board a metro bus at the cg if desired. Our site was a premium, pull through with plenty of room for our toad, really nice. Love this place. - cajunearl
Oct 2019 - $88.00
We had a premium FHU site, picnic table, patio table & chairs, BBQ, and fire pit. Unfortunately, we didn't really take advantage of the site features. Our site was a back-in to a berm of trees & underbrush. Very pretty. We didn't use the bathhouse but I checked it out-immaculately clean and bright. We stayed here for the ease of access to the bus/Metro. It was terrific! Within an hour we were on the Mall or at the National Zoo. - Used2sail
Oct 2019 - $69.00
A noisy, overcrowded, urban campground, but can't beat the location for visiting the Washington, DC area. Very well organized asphalt entry area with multiple checkin lanes and opportunity to drop the toad. Interior access roads are asphalt barely wide enough for two cars to pass. Mostly backin sites with some pullthrus. Backin sites are arranged such that two way rig traffic is common since the sites are not arranged in chevrons so that both sides would be accessible from the same direction. This causes quite the congestion problem especially during high traffic periods like the Friday of a holiday weekend. This is complicated by putting rigs in spaces that are perhaps too small such that the tow vehicle hangs out into the access road. Two rigs passing can only be done in most areas by going partially off the road and utilizing part of the sites on either side of the road. Big rigs should come in and depart via Powder Mill Road thus avoiding the generally heavy congestion at Cherry Hill Road and US 1. Swing wide on entry into campground. Gravel sites with gravel patios (some with paver patios) and grass between the sites. The usual urban crowding with some sites being very close together. Sites are mostly level with picnic table and fire rings. Power, water, and sewer ok with sewer needing a donut. Most sites have no issues with satellite access. Cable ok. Campground wifi is Tengo with good signal @ 1.2Mbps dropping to completely unusable in the evenings; Verizon 2 bars at 21.7Mbps but dropping off a lot in the evening; T-Mobile 4 bars but only 184Kbps as I was out of high speed data at the time. Full single stream recycling on site. OK bike riding in the campground and looks like a good bike trail just outside the campground. Direct bus service to the metro station, but it's only a couple of miles drive to the station. Not a lot of good choices close to Washington, DC so we might return to visit the city. - SeaLandSkyPhoto

I don't think there is a great park in the metro DC area and this one is the same. It is older but with mostly good power, water, sewer, but not all sites. Also roads are falling apart, highly wooded so it is tough to get a spot where your satellite will work. Lots of monthlys, or even yearlys. Spots on the upper portion are for all realistic purposes not useful by RVs over 28'. Most are pretty close together, some very close together. Staff is nice but not special. It is convenient to drive into DC, Annapolis, and other tourist areas. Would stay again if in the area but would love to find something better (someone would have to build new) - Johnny xxxxx
Sep 2018 - $45.00
We stayed here 2 years ago when owners were new and had no problem getting in. This is the only non-military park anywhere in the area close to Annapolis. Barely got in this time so call well ahead. Disappointed to find it 99% permanent resisidents and although improved, not kept up as well as our last visit. Really wish they had more space for travelers.Very nice staff. - Traveler Anne
May 2018 - $71.00
Price was for the off season. Swimming pool wasn't open in early May. Lots of other stuff for kids. New owners have filled in some ruts but speeds in most of this large park are governed by the remaining potholes. Utilities were fine. Satellite accessibility is not available at most sites because of extensive foliage. Annapolis is more than ten miles away but this is the only nonmilitary park in the area. - Mtmoi
