Elevated views of the Chesapeake Bay and well-manicured sites highlight this campground just south of Rock Hall, MD. Ample, large sites for tents overlook the shore looking west, affording awesome sunsets; however, the 20- to 30-foot-high position above the Bay means no swimming or fishing from the shore. Most of the campground's sites are reserved for long-term campers. Most of the sites are narrow and well-shaded; the inner rows surround a grassy area with a playground, pond and volleyball court. No sewer or pump-out service. An ample number of dump stations exist; all are well-maintained. No planned activities for children or families. Place was pretty quiet by 11 each night. We would stay again. We camped at Bay Shore Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Since you can't quite easily swim in the Chesapeake at Bay Shore, head up to Ferry Park at nearby Rock Hall, a quaint, public beach that provides access for kayaks as well.

One of the most well maintained and beautiful parks we have stayed in. The showers could use some updating and they are a little on the small side but very doable. The owners & staff were very friendly and our visit could not have been any better. We would come here again anytime. We camped at Bay Shore Campground in a Travel Trailer.

This is a beautiful "resort" style park. The grounds are well landscaped and I don't blame them for not allowing parking or mats on the grass. The price is not high. This campground was full, and was turning away reservations, they must be doing something right. The wifi was strong in my site, the local antenna was incredible, you can pick-up Washington and Baltimore stations so no real need for cable. I have been here three times and have noticed that this campground has improved every time, and I am looking forward to my next visit. We camped at Bay Shore Campground in a Motorhome.

The town of Rock Hall is a must see, it has many great restaurants and shops to visit. There is a tram that will take you into town from the campground.

Over the years we have been going here, it is getting better. The place is clean, the sunsets are the greatest. We would give a better rating but, 1. the price is too high (no full hook up) 2. the sites are on the small side. 3. because of the price keep going up, they are not putting it into the bath houses were it needs to go and the dump stations need to be concrete, the mud is terrible. We would like to give this place a 8-9 rating, because the staff is great, and the place is clean. But it is what it is. Also, we had very low water pressure, it was better using our pump. We never had this problem before, think maybe because the park was full, because as weekenders started leaving the pressure got better. We camped at Bay Shore Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed here as an overnight stop on our way home. We called ahead for a rerservation. The campground was a bit of a drive off Rt. 301 and the office closed at 2 p.m. and there was no one to greet us. Our confirmation email had a site number so we pulled in. The campground is on the shore of Chesapeake Bay. Bayside sites were $15 more and not worth the extra money. There is no swimming pool. The only place to swim is in the bay. The beach was barely six feet wide and the bay was a rocky bottom. We waded in to cool down and that was it. Not sure we would use this campground again. We camped at Bay Shore Campground in a Motorhome.

Campground was clean, grounds looked good, but they go by two sets of rules. One for if you have a yearly site, and one if you tow a trailer in for the weekend. They tell you to stay off the grass with tow vehicle no mats down. The gravel area is just enough for trailer wheels, no wider, but the yearly site people park on grass. The weekend was fine parking on the gravel pad for me, but some hard larger rigs they had to park tow vehicle in an empty site . Just didn't like the two sets of rules. We camped at Bay Shore Campground in a Travel Trailer.

This is a wonderful campground located right on Chesapeke Bay in a small sailing/boating resort town, Rock Hall. It has been beautifully landscaped and our site was spacious, overlooking the Bay. The owners and management were extremely friendly and helpful and gave us plenty of suggestions as to where to eat, shop etc. We would have stayed longer but they were booked full for the annual Pirate's Festival that the town hosts. I would call Bay Shores a destination resort campground as it is out of the way, but these are the types of campgrounds we enjoy the most. There is no pool, so I would not recommend this CG to families with kids who like to play in the pool. But, at the same time, if you want to recharge your batteries, this place is for you. We will definitely return here to stay for a week or two and we highly recommend Bay Shore Campground. We camped at Bay Shore Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a $2 surcharge for rigs over 38', but it's worth it. If possible, request a waterfront site, directly on the Bay. It's a bit more, but well worth it.

There are quite a few seafood restaurants nearby as well as seafood markets. Also, the town has quite a few quaint shops and stores that can be visited nearby.

I would have given a 10 rating if there were sewer hook ups and a pool. The people in the office and the full time campers were very friendly. The bathrooms were clean. The beach is very small and you do need to go down very steep stairs. We took our dog swimming in the area next to the boat ramp where there was another small beach. We camped here for a month (thus the rate was less than it would have been for just a night) and were very impressed with all aspects of the campground. Located right on the Chesapeake Bay and surrounded by farmland, the sunsets were stunning and the peace & quiet wonderful. The owners & staff were friendly and attentive; security was good; showers & bathrooms clean and grounds well kept. We'll definitely camp here again! We enjoyed this quiet, friendly campground very much. Great fishing in the Chesapeake Bay right at the campground and they also have a boat ramp. There is a playground, game room and recreation hall. Water and electric hookup only. There are dump stations and mobile service is available. Nearby is the Eastern Neck National Wildlife Refuge. We camped at Bay Shore Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Our campsite was inadequate as compared to the website. The bay, which was the focus of the campground, was unreachable without crossing into "permanent" and "seasonal" sites. Most of the campers are extremely territorial. Not very pleasant experience at all. Although they say that they are pet friendly, they definitely are not. They use any excuse to "rid" you off their campground. We watched it happen to a fellow campground site near us. Those poor people didn't stand a chance. This park should really be private to those there. It should not be a public campground, as they dislike outsiders before they check in! The bath houses are horrible and unclean. There is no handicapped access either. There was theft and no matter who complained, nothing was done unless you were on a "seasonal" or "permanent" site. Would never return here and would strongly recommend to go elsewhere to enjoy the outdoors and avoid the small city drama. We camped at Bay Shore Campground in a Tent Trailer.

Nice place in the sticks. Huge sites with nice folks. A tad bit buggy, but it is the Eastern Shore. Beautiful sunsets across the Chesapeake Bay. We had a great time. We camped at Bay Shore Campground in a Travel Trailer.

This is a small bare bones park, but is located on the waterfront of the Chesapeake Bay with a spectacular view. Rock Hall is a small town known for crabbing and fishing, and down the road a few miles is the East Neck Wildlife Refuge. This is a great spot to experience the eastern shore, especially if your into hiking, birding, and relaxing. The owners of the park are very knowledgable and accommodating, I think the Grandad is an old "waterman". The waterfront of Rock Hall has some new development with a decent restaurant and lots of sailboats, but thankfully is still low-key. We camped at Bay Shore Campground in a Tent Trailer.
