Large campground with a good general design. I would avoid site 37 unless you have a small RV. The back in is on a curve. It would not be a good site for a large class A, long trailer or big Fifth Wheel. Most sites are paved (there appeared to be tent sites too) with a 40+\- foot asphalt parking area. Our site had a tree which prevented us from backing in to allow to a parked car. There is a large parking area at the bathhouse, which we used for overnight parking. Other sites were open to the rear and a larger rig can overhang to create more space. Access is excellent on major highways. The check in area has a large parking area however the office is small. Could be interesting if you checking in with a crowd. Our site had some wrappers and papers left behind but the park is generally clean. The Cape Cod Canal is adjacent to the campground and has a great paved bike/walking path. The eastern edge of the park is the Bay. There is a Playground and community fire pit in the park. Prior reviews mention bring extra hoses and cords. Highly recommend this, especially water hoses. The dump station has limited hours but is two lanes. The dump pipe was a unique design, let's say more of a open concept dump. No tank flush allowed either. We camped at Scusset Beach State Reservation in a Motorhome.

Great location for any visit to Cape Cod and the Islands. Kennedy Presidential Library is about a hours drive north in south Boston. Gas and diesel available nearby but higher priced, 20 cents per gallon lower at the station just over the Borne Bridge.

Nice state park, perfect for staying to visit Cape Cod. Be careful in choosing your spot. We have a 40' fifth wheel and with a tree right next to the entrance to our spot, trees and a slight downhill slope opposite our site, backing in to our spot was a real challenge. Electric is close by, but is a shared pedestal for water, shared by four sites. You will need at least two hoses to get to your camper so be prepared. I rated service as 'bad' because we were not able to check in until the last day. Office hours to do so were ignored as it was closed during posted hours. Then the guy acted like we were bothering him. We camped at Scusset Beach State Reservation in a Fifth Wheel.

Scusset Beach State Park - site 9, $50 Sagamore This is a beautiful state park campground located on the north side of the Cape Cod Canal in the town of Sagamore, MA. It is just east of the Sagamore Bridge. Most of the campsites are in the open but there are a few with some shade. All the sites have water & electric and the dump station is when you drive out. The registration area is before you get to the campground and they don't usually let you register before the 1 pm check in. If you get there early the registration area is on the beautiful Cape Cod Canal with a fishing dock, fishermen, biking, picnic area so you can sit and watch the boats sailing through. You need a salt water fishing license to fish along the canal and I believe they sell it at the registration center under $5. The park has a beautiful beach facing northeast within walking or biking distance from your site. The one bathhouse is big and very clean with showers. Some of the sites like our #9 you needed a hose over 100 feet to connect with our water. Most of the sites your regular hose is fine but we counted over ten sites with the hose length problem. We still liked our site because we had a big tree for shade (part of the day) and the short trail to the canal was just across from us. The canal is beautiful and many campers bring their chairs to watch the boats sailing through. We biked the whole canal bike trail to Buzzards Bay where there is a little park and some stores in the village. Many of the campers that stay here head down to Falmouth on the Cape to take the day ferry over to Martha's Vineyard. Great place to camp and getting on route 3 and 495 is easy because you are on the north side of the canal. We have enjoyed camping here before and will be back. No fires at this campground only community fireplaces. We camped at Scusset Beach State Reservation in a Motorhome.

Scusset Beach is located at the southwest corner of the Cape Cod Bay. You get access to about 1.5 miles of beachfront just a short bike ride or walk away. Located right on the Cape Cod Canal bike path or you can take a walk along the jetty to watch ships pass through the Cape Canal. There are ~98 R.V. sites with hook-ups, and 5 tent-only campsites. The facilities are kept very clean daily by host campers. Most of the electrical has been redone and is in A-1 condition. You will need to visit the dump station or use a tote, but honestly the facilities are very good, so you'll likely not need either. Water is from shared pedestals, so make sure you bring 100' or more of water hose! The best State Park with beach access in MA for exploring Cape Cod. We camped at Scusset Beach State Reservation in a Travel Trailer.

This park, being right at the beach, was really nice. There was plenty of room between sites, indeed. The utility posts were very far from some of the sites and we needed to head out and buy an extension for our hose. Other than that I felt this was a great park. Nice beaches... excellent and paved bike trail, pretty views... About an hour from Boston and I'm guessing 1.5 / 2 to Province through the cape. Great location We camped at Scusset Beach State Reservation in a Travel Trailer.

This is a beautiful state park just before the bridge over to Cape Cod and Sandwich. Some sites looked very close together near the front and they were open with no privacy. We were in site 21 near the back that had a good amount of space and privacy. We have a 41 ft 5th wheel and had just enough space with the truck parked sideways across the driveway. The 7 mile bike path along the canal is beautiful and can be accessed from the campground. The beach access is also convenient. Check-in was a bit of a hassle because we got there at 12:50 and they will not let anyone check in until precisely 1pm. So I had to join the long line of others waiting until 1pm. I understand not allowing early check-in, but a few minutes shouldn't be a big deal. We also didn't intentionally show up early, but we were coming from another park in RI where we had to leave by 11 and it didn't take quite 2 hours to get to Scusset Beach no matter how slow we drove. This park is pretty expensive for a state park with no sewer hookups, but it's partly because of the out-of-state up-charge. That seems a little unfriendly to me considering we are from Florida which does not charge extra at the state parks for out-of-state visitors. I guess Florida is more welcoming to tourists. Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile all worked well. We camped at Scusset Beach State Reservation in a Fifth Wheel.

Nightly rate includes reservation fee and out of state up charge. Over the last 2 years, they've been upgrading the campground and facilities. They've updated the bath houses, installed 50 am electric at all sites and this year repaved the roads and site pads. The friends of Scusset have been adding new playground equipment near the beach and I only wish I was small enough to try the climbing wall, etc. Our Verizon and Verizon hot spot worked well. Many over the air TV channels. So if you like sand dunes and salty air being able to walk to the beach and ride your bikes along the canal, this is a lovely place to stay. Our fisherman loved the striped bass fishing at the canal and even caught a keeper. We camped at Scusset Beach State Reservation in a Motorhome.

We have stayed at this campground several times in the past few years. We absolutely love the location for proximity to the beach, canal, and bike path. Spacious sites, scenic views, friendly neighbors, good water, new electrical system, improved bathrooms & showers, fishing pier - almost heaven. Only the addition of a sewer system would bring my rating up to 10. TV reception varies by site - some get up to 14 channels and some get only a few. Just spent 10 days here visiting family in the area. Site was level and had no issue getting our new 42" 5th wheel into space #58 with room to spare. All of the sites are large and well spread apart. While we were there they had an issue with the hot water boiler in the rest rooms and were in the process of replacing. They had offered to allow us to reschedule, but we told them we had our own hot water and it would not be an issue. We camped at Scusset Beach State Reservation in a Fifth Wheel.

Not fancy, but a quiet, peaceful, lovely campground, close to the gorgeous beach. You can fish from the pier and lots of biking along the Cape Cod Canal - 7 miles each way. Scrubbier sites, but farther away from each other. Met a man at the pier who has been fishing there for 60 years - bought a house close by so he can go everyday! Nice life! If you like the beach and touring Cape Cod - this is the place! Great value for the money! We camped at Scusset Beach State Reservation in a Travel Trailer.

They just reopened July 1st after a major electrical overhaul. Our area has no trees but the sites are more than spacious. Bring extra water hose. The bibs are shared by 4 units and a bit of a distance; maybe 40 feet away? Bike right to the Cape Cod Canal Trail or walk to the beach - all close! No check in before 11 AM but they allowed you to wait at the office parking area. No additional fee for the state park. We camped at Scusset Beach State Reservation in a Motorhome.

What a wonderful campground! This was our first trip to the area and our first stay in this campground. It is in an ideal place to explore Cape Cod. The campground is in great shape. We had site 86 and it was plenty big for our 33' trailer. I think I liked the sites closer to the water because I believe that they drained better. The beach is huge and fantastic for finding all sorts of interesting sea critters. Water was freezing in July. I do wish they had laundry facilities. Other than that, it was perfect. Make your way to the Chatham pier and see the seals feeding from the boats. Visit P-Town to see a different side! I recommend the Hyannis Whale Watcher cruises out of Barnstable Harbor for an incredible whale sightseeing experience! I also recommend the pizza place near the campground - they deliver and had great pizza and wings. We camped at Scusset Beach State Reservation in a Travel Trailer.

We spent 2 weeks here in 2013. The first during the last week of June and the 2nd during the last week of September. Both trips were great. Scusset is a state park so you will not find all the amenities of some private campgrounds. The sites are large and some are private with shade trees and vegetation, and some out in the open. Our Verizon cell service was excellent. The bathrooms and showers were cleaned at the posted times each day. In season, a trip to the Dune Dog cafe at the beach is fun and they often have fresh fish on the menu. The beach, breakwater and canal bike path were great activities. This trip we walked to the top of Sagamore Hill near the office and fishing pier. The trail had historical markers and markers pointing out trees and plants along the way. It is only about 1 mile round trip and worth the trip. In the fall, we did encounter a skunk in our site around 7pm when we went out to check our dinner on the grill. I guess it liked the smell, too. This is an inexpensive and pleasant base to enjoy the shore. We camped at Scusset Beach State Reservation in a Motorhome.

Scusset was one of our favorite campgrounds. We have camped there many years and have had many different sites. The Friends of Scusset have made many improvements over the years and the new pathway is enjoyable to walk. This year we had 2 week of bad experiences. The Host camper next to us had a white hose attached to his sewer pipe and would dump his grey water near our picnic table. I then noticed other campers doing the same so I reported it to the camp office and the rangers. I was told by the ranger that white hoses are for water. Yes, but NOT when they are attached to a sewer outlet! I spent $160 dollars for a Tote to dump my grey water at the dump station. It is a shame that this is going on unchecked. Some campers were allowed multiple cars at their site while other were limited. It seems unfair rules for "Special " guest. Some camper were allowed to stay over the 2 week restriction. My dog was attacked by 2 unleashed dogs and almost bitten by 2 others. It is not pleasant walking the dog with all the other "Special" campers doing as they please. It is too bad a beautiful campground is being ill managed. I filled out the DCR State survey and hope to hear back from the campground. Please save Scusset! We will not return to this campground. We camped at Scusset Beach State Reservation in a Motorhome.
