Oct 2018 - $34.00
Nice park. Our site was one row back from the water, but could throw a rock into the water if I wanted. My only niggle is that the sites are very close. Our neighbors were 6 ft away. But the sides have hedges that help with some feeling of privacy. Weather in October was chilly and very windy with a decent amount of rain. Would definitely come back to this park though, when in good weather. - Tpar
Oct 2018 - $38.00
Pros: Very wooded park, resembled a state park. Rows of trees, shrubs, etc. between spaces provided privacy. Lots of shade, quiet and dark at night. Cons: No laundry on site, had to go into town. Only one dumpster location near park entrance. - Dave from Indy
Sep 2018 - $42.00
Check in was very friendly and helpful. We asked for a satellite friendly site & we certainly had it. Although there were some small trees on our site, it was open and most nights we were the only site on the row! We were next to the Rally building which was not being used that week. We were a distance from the water, but with bikes had no problem riding down for sunset and views of the bridge. Nice grassy park type area with nice swings. Almost any size and view you might want. Also some very nice cabins. The free shuttle runs to Mack Island and has a trailer to take your bike. The store will sell discount tickets for the ferry and also rent bikes. The facilities are well kept. I gave a 9 due to lack of laundry facilities. - Gypsy Duo

Check-in board at office will show assigned sites and what's available for a particular night. Fill out form, put money in envelope and drop it through the slot in door. Easy in/out for big rigs, but the sites are on grass. Ground appeared to be well compacted, we didn't sink. We have a 40' Class A diesel, with tag axle. Entry road is paved, interior roads are dirt/gravel. All sites are pull-through. In the event you can't find another campground for the night, there is an overflow lot, which is the same price as the hook up sites. Although the map on the website looks as though row 1 sites might not be pull-through, there is plenty of space between the sites and the fence in order to pull out. There is 30 amp electric and a water hook up at sites. Our breaker tripped a couple of times. Dump station easily accessible. There are no shower or laundry facilities at this park. There are a couple of out houses. The road between rows 1 and 2 had some overhanging branches. The third row might be best for larger rigs since there are no trees on row 3. Our Verizon data and cell service worked well. There is no fenced pet area, but there is plenty of space to walk pets. The campground offers food items (brats, buns, eggs, butter, water, sodas, etc.) on the honor system. Nice touch! There is a pricing chart on the refrigerator. Based on our experience, don't expect quiet hours to be honored here. We would stay again if passing through the area. - Guinness
Aug 2018 - $20.00
We were last here a few years ago. It was a hidden gem. Well news gets around because it was packed this year when we arrived. We took the last available pull thru spot on a Sunday afternoon. The amenities are few. There is convenient 30 amp and water plus a picnic table and firepit. I don't believe there are any showers. We got 8-10 TV channels. The ATT and Verizon signals are strong. Use the honor system when paying for ice and wood. This is a place to rest your head at a price that doesn't break the bank and is in a great location right off 75. We will return but will get reservations next time to be safe. - Tammy7
Jul 2018 - $20.00
This little gem is a great alternative if you are self contained and have no need for the playgrounds, pools, stores and such that have driven RV park prices to the ridiculous. This park has clean, level pull-through sites and an owner that, while not on site, answers phone calls and makes reservations for you. Our site was listed on the board when we arrived and marked with a red "reserved" bag on the utility pedestal. Payment, firewood, smores, and eggs are on the honor system. There is even a loaner sewer tote that is for camper's use in dumping waste. Overall, an economic, clean, convenient place to spend a couple of nights and see Mackinaw City and Mackinac Island. - LMH

Aug 2018 - $40.00
Poor park. I would recommend looking at some of the other parks in the area. The sites are small and some share electrical hookups so you might have cords from other campers stretching across your site. Fire pits are small and dangerous to use around small kids. After I wrote an honest review on Google, my family was sent an email banning them from the park. Terrible customer service. - PCReiff
Aug 2018 - $48.00
Our site had nice trees for shade and gravel which was slightly unlevel. Campfires were abundant while there which everyone else seemed to enjoy but we could not due to allergies. Mixup with site and wanted 50amp but park was filled and we could not move. Site is roomy with plenty room for tow vehicles. Staff was wonderful, kind and helpful. The whole campground is clean. The laundry is the cleanest, newest ever! - GailMOH
May 2018 - $53.00
Park was in a very good location near town. Site was gravel but not very level. Most other sites looked to be level. Decent distance to next campsite. Site was too short and had to move picnic table so we could park on the grass. Pulling out of our site was a very sharp turn because we were at the end of a row. We had to back up several times to make the turn. Cable TV was poor to not usable. WiFi was slow but OK, except when park was full and then we couldn't connect at all. The site had 3 piles of dog poop when we pulled in. We had to clean it up first thing because it was in the path to the camper door. - User3701

Jul 2018 - $40.00
This is a small campground, two roads, one in and one out. Some sites are tree covered but we were able to get satellite, T-mobile was good. Seems like the regular returnees are close to the beach. Our site had 50 and 30 amp service. Sites are level with sand and gravel. No sewer hook-up but a dump station is available. The utility hookups were on the right side, shared with the adjacent site. Camp ground is family oriented, kids have a great time on the beach. We came for Mackinaw Island, rode our bikes to the ferry dock. We camped for four days. - Nautilus
Jun 2018 - $40.00
Cute, pleasant. Office people are very friendly and helpful as are the resident camper people that work there. Extremely friendly. Spaces toward road by office are very big and open. Spaces toward beach have more trees but also more bugs. The bugs don't bite, they just swarm. Beach is perfect for kids (10 and 15 years old) and dogs to pounce around in. Nice view of bridge and birds all around. Beautiful sunset. People are very laid back and don't get worked up about anything. This is a very dog friendly place. The shuttle to the ferry is convenient as they call it for you and give you discounted tickets. We walked back as it was only 1.3 miles but you wouldn't have to. There is a really nice biking and running trail across the road. It goes to Mackinaw City and the other way. You could get in a nice run (easily 5-10 Miles). When you arrive they are very casual about which site you can go to. They gave us a list of options and let us pick. Very nice. We also didn't need reservations which I liked. We stayed two nights as I think one really only needs a day on Mackinac Island. There is a nightly fire on the beach. One night had no people really and one night had a lot of people. - Zeus16
Jul 2017 - $38.00
Older, fairly well maintained campground. Bathhouse is heavily used, but usually clean. Sites are close. Trees are helpful is giving privacy. Nightly bonfires on the beach are fun. Sandy beach, rocky water, but it's Michigan, too cold for Texans to swim! Free shuttle to the ferry, discount tickets available. - ahh-scapers

Sep 2018 - $49.00
We really enjoyed our stay here. The park has "good bones", but still needs work. It is under new ownership and there are construction materials staged in some areas, so it seems they are working on it. On the plus side, it is laid out well and the roads were easy to navigate with our big rig. The sites allow enough room between pads to provide privacy. The park is quiet and the staff is friendly and efficient. It's a short drive to either St. Ignace or Mackinaw City. On the negative side, the roads are surfaced with what seemed to be a clay mix. It had stopped raining shortly before we arrived, and it tracked from our shoes all over the floor mats in our toad and the camper floor. Although our site was spacious, there were trees leaning in towards the landing pad which made it very difficult to get situated where we could open our slides. In the end we were off the side of the pad and so close to our fire pit we couldn't use it. We watched a couple of other motorhomes struggle with the same issue. We were situated in the back half of the full hookup area, and there wasn't much grass on our site. If it had rained, our site would have been mostly mud. The sites nearer the office seemed to have more grass. As I said to start, we enjoyed our stay, and will come back again in hopes there have been improvements. - MrsBowman
Jul 2018 - $50.00
I'm giving this a satisfactory rating only because the staff was very friendly, the laundry room was clean. We stayed 2 nights, on a site that was gravel and fairly level, the down side it was so narrow we couldn't use the awning and the fire pit was so close to the neighbors 5th wheel , it wasn't safe to use. The wood bundles the camp store sold for $5.00 were mostly cut up treated wood pallets. We paid for a full hook up and could not use the sewer hook up because it was impossible to park the TT on the site and use both the electric or the sewer at the same time. We decided to skip using the sewer and empty our TT at the dump station at the KOA. That was a mistake, when we tried to empty our tank, the dump station was full and over flowing into the playground next to it. The pool was closed and no work has started on repairing it . The WIFI is too weak to use . Electricity is spotty and several of the campers did not have power most of the time. We were lucky and didn't loose ours. We did not use the camp bathrooms, but after hearing fellow campers complain, We stayed away. This campground needs many improvements, and they have to take care of the sewer, it is a bio hazard. We will never camp here again. - gonfishen
Jun 2018 - $55.00
We stayed 8 nights the end of June. Pool closed; no cable even though it was listed as amenities on full hookups. When we got there only front bathrooms open. When they opened back bathrooms they were dirty and even though "renovated" the last morning there a toilet in the women's was leaking or had flooded and there was water all over floor. Even without that they were dirty. We had knee high weeds on our site for most of our stay. We also had our electric 30 amp service keep switching off at the box. When we reported it the maintenance person said we were running too much stuff. At the times we were only running the fridge. Also if we were running too much it would have switched off the breakers in the trailer. I have seen in later reviews other campers had problems also with electric switching off. This was before the 4th when they had major problems. Water connection way in back. Need two hoses. Site short for 35 ft trailer. Had to park truck sideways. - loveretirement

We enjoyed our stay here. The sites were level, but cramped. (typical MI state park) The R/R-S were good and kept clean. Did some hiking. - Dennis D
Aug 2018 - $30.00
This is a very nice state park. We were in the upper portion, away from the lakeside. The sites next to the lake would be great for families (we no longer have kids travelling with us). The price of $30 per night does not include the reservation fee or the Michigan State Park pass which is $30 per year for non-residents or $9 per night. The bathrooms & showers are in good shape, firewood is available for sale. We enjoyed the walk on the paths, especially the viewpoint of the Mackinac Bridge. This park is very convenient to the ferries to Mackinac Island. - JaneDon264
Jul 2018 - $38.00
Nice, well shaded area where we stayed, in the upper campground. Our 37' 5th wheel would have been hard to get into the few slots in the lower section (near the Straits). Plus, mosquitoes would have been worse in lower section. When I hooked up to 50 amp, there was no power. The first ranger was unable to fix the problem, so the next morning, another ranger came around, and figured out the breaker was bad. This wasn't a big problem - it was cool enough, we could run on the 30 amp and 1 A/C. They were prompt at they could be - I did not have a problem waiting overnight to get it fixed. Very stable power, once the 50 amp breaker was replaced. Sites were fairly close together - like many private parks we have been in. Dump station was well laid out, and easy to use. Hose with screw connection available to flush black tank. I think the price is high, since there was only electricity, and the sites were fairly close together. Price is for site plus Michigan DNR sticker you must have (prorated out over the 11 days in MI state campsites). Lots to do in the area. - Ol JB

Sep 2018 - $37.00
This is a pleasant little RV park. We enjoyed being here. Most of the sites are open and sunny, although the back row is mostly shaded. The sites are well-spaced and roomy. There are lake views from the park and a partial view of the Mackinac Bridge from the park's little beach area across the road which is also a great place for sunset pictures. Management and owners are very friendly and helpful. We used this as a base for exploring St. Ignace and Mackinac Island. We'd definitely stay here again if in the area. - wntrtxn
Sep 2018 - $42.00
Don't follow the GPS to this site. They have signs on US-2 to lead you to the park correctly. Sites are gravel/grass, fairly level. Comfortable space between site but not spacious. We had a pull through (220) that had plenty of length but our picnic table was almost on top of the adjacent site sewer connection. Good water pressure. Few trees so satellite reception was good. No cable. Wifi was strong and fairly fast. Some sites have a view across the road to Lake Michigan. They own a small beach that is an easy walk across the road. Staff was very friendly and helpful. - BBGuy
Aug 2018 - $40.00
We stayed 3 nights. The park was easy to access. The wi-fi worked well, as did the hook-ups. The restrooms and laundry are older, but well-maintained. You can sit on the office porch in a rocker and see Lake Michigan while doing laundry. - bookclubgeek

First time to the UP, campground close to the ferry to Mackinac Island. A must see and plan to spend the day. Every Saturday night there is fireworks in town. Nice office staff with very good local information. Would stay here again. - boomerlee
Jul 2018 - $24.00
Superior location for surrounding area. Very helpful staff. Our rate is based on three nights a passport and one regular. Good utilities and handy dump station. We are a small motorhome but we watched larger fifth wheels have considerable difficulty getting into some sites. - durham4926
Jul 2018 - $32.00
Owners were very rude. We camp all the time, never have been treated so poorly. We made reservations two months in advance for specific site. Upon arrival they flattly stated that they moved us. The assigned site was tiny with zero privacy. I went back to the office to see if there were any other options. The owner told me should leave and go to the KOA campground. The site we reserved but unable to use was open during our entire visit. Bathrooms old and not clean. Recreation room as advertised is abandoned. It's like nursing home of crabby old people. Each night, not a single person had a campfire or even rv lights on. Everyone went to bed by 9:00. They even complained about my six year old son riding his scooterat 8:30 pm. Never again, worst campground ever. - Tanya Rule

There are 3 campgrounds here, one of them is under construction currently. We stayed in the Pines section which has asphalt pads and electric (no water or sewer but a nice dump site with fresh water). This area is wooded so there is some shade. The campground nearer to Lake Michigan is tighter with no pads. There were lots of tents there and it looked comfortable for them. Not so much for an RV over 20ft. Mackinaw City is a short drive away and there is a Walmart in Cheboygan but that's about 50 min drive. However, if you are headed to the UP, there are only Walmarts in Saulte St Marie (far eastern area) and Iron Mountain (near WI border). - TNknitter
Aug 2017 - $17.00
This is the first negative review I have written and it's frustrating to review this park. It's in a fabulous location to be out in Northern Michigan. It's out on the tip of the lower peninsula and right on Lake Michigan. There's a dark sky viewing area and a lot of trails and bike paths. Here's the negative: there's over 250 campsites crammed in like sardines. We were just passing through and opted for an electric site instead of FHU. The FHU sites are much nicer but still close together. If I can't get a FHU next time I'll pass on the park. It's really a shame. - AITG
Aug 2017 - $29.00
One of the best and most beautiful state parks! The beach, within the park, is great with beautiful views and there is also a dog beach. Very peaceful and dark park at night. There is a lot of hiking trails and great biking, paved roads. Go as far west that the road will take you and you will find another beach and exploring area. A must is the donuts at Wilderness Camp Store. Homemade and delicious. The only wildlife we you will see are skunks, wildturkey, chipmunks, etc. There are some very elaborate tent setups. If you need "tourist" things Mackinaw city is 10 miles away with the ferry to Mackinac Island. St. Ignace is great for grocery and lunch. Plus a ride over the bridge. Staff is friendly and helpful. Can't wait until next year to come back to Wilderness. - Tracer230

533 ft on Lake Huron makes this quaint little campground a must-stay. We were here 4 nights. The owner makes sure each camper has the best possible view of the lake. Our site was level and had water & electric (no sewer available here). Bathhouse kept spotless. Excellent location, about 10 miles to Mackinac City. Limited t-mobile service, several OTA channels available. Few amenities here - it's all about the view. We would stay here again. - MangoandJune

The owners are lovely people--very friendly and accommodating. We felt like family here. Bathhouses have private dressing area and are kept sparkling clean. We would definitely stay here again. - Wind blows
Sep 2015 - $35.00
We did not stay at this park. We pulled in to check it out because I could not find it under any reviews except Yahoo local.
This is a beautiful little rv park. It is electric and water. Not sure if they have 50 amp. There is a dump station on site, in a very convenient location. There are a couple of pull through sites in the center of the rv park. The rest appeared to be back in. The sites are huge with an amazing, unobstructed view of Lake Huron. The owner was so nice, and tried to accommodate us. Unfortunately, we were looking for a 2 week stay and my hubby doesn't like having to pack up to go dump. That is the only reason we did not stay here. The owner gave me brochures, some magazines and coupons for local attractions. We will definitely stay here when we return to the area for a shorter stay. - Mr&MrsFulltimers
