We stayed over Memorial weekend - the park was full, but very quiet. There was also a fishing tournament going on so there were several rigs staying at the park. The park is open with large mature trees for shade. All sites had thick grass. We had rain the week before so the ground was a little soft. Our site (#49) was under water the day before we arrived as told by a neighbor site, but there was no water when we arrived. The only hit against cleanliness was the droppings from the geese. Since our site was close to the water - there were a lot of droppings. We borrowed a rake from the office to clean it up some. Being at that corner of the park we had very little traffic on the park road. Nice and quiet. You do hear some of the road noise from the nearby highway bridge, but not much, much less than what an in-town park may have. You're in town so close to anything. We enjoyed watching the fishing on the river. Easy to get in & out - plenty of room. Many pull-thru sites. Some of the utilities were a bit far - water & sewer hook-ups, plus our neighbor's power was inop so he was instructed to share our power - no problems - 2 outlets. We camped at River Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Fantastic park, far better then most that charge 40/50 per night. The park is on the water, it's frienly, clean and beautiful. Worth the stop. Big tip is spend some time there to rest and relax. We camped at River Park Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

This is a pretty municipal campground, conveniently located about half way on our drive from Traverse City, Michigan to Minneapolis. The location, behind a Kmart, is a bit bazaar, but the physical setting on the river is quite nice. Check-in was easy since we had already reserved and paid. It's surprising how difficult it is to make a reservation there. You can't do it online - you must fill out a paper form and mail it in with a check. We had to call to confirm we had a reservation. The office was not occupied when we arrived at 1:05 pm, but someone showed up a couple of minutes later. Roads are a bit tight but navigable. Many seasonals but sites were tidy There are mature trees throughout the park so plenty of shade. We were not able to use our rooftop satellite antenna, but we were able to place our portable antenna at the rear of the coach to receive all three Dish western arc satellites. We spent one night in site 44, a pull-through site that was just barely long enough for our 38' coach plus 2-door Jeep toad. It was level, and I would estimate the length of the site to be about 57 feet. Power (30 amp only) was stable, we did not use the sewer connection, and the water pressure was adequate. However, the water was a bit cloudy, and the WiFi was poor. There is a municipal sewerage plant next door, but we did not smell it. There is grass everywhere, but there is also goose poop almost everywhere. No enclosed dog park, but plenty of places to walk the dog. Our site was within 75 yards of Highway 41 where it climbs to go over the bridge over the Menominee River, so the road noise was constant. We camped at River Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Beautiful city owned park, staff was very helpful and courteous. As mentioned in previous reviews they do not accept credit/debit cards, cash and checks only. There are a lot of mature trees so satellite TV is hit or miss, we just found the right spot and got lucky. The only thing missing was a patio, only had soft grass to step onto. We camped at River Park Campground in a Motorhome.

You will be surprised at this 1st class municipal park. We camp in a Little Rig "Tear Drop" style RV w/o toilet or shower, plus we like to eat outdoors using the picnic table and set up our dining canopy for sun and weather protection and thus rely on condition of campgrounds facilities and being nearby our site. So our critique is focused in that area. Operated by City of Menomonie MI; 1st class for a municipal park. Beautiful, well maintained grounds; green grass everywhere, asphalt roadways and site pads with picnic table on a patio plus a fire ring. Full hook-ups at every site with lots of grassy green-space between sites - very roomy. Park is well laid out with sites positioned in the grass with lots of trees for welcomed shade. Tenters are also welcome and entire park butts up against the Menomonie River that flows into Lake Michigan Our site 9 was close to restroom/shower building, a modern newer facility with A/C for comfort. Shower stalls were spacious private individual rooms that included a glass shower door separating shower from changing area. Thoughtful conveniences included a soap dish, plus a wall bench and ample wall hooks in changing area. Restrooms with communal sink were across the hallway. Here too there were ample wall hooks AND shelves under the mirrors for your toiletries stuff! This place could be a model for other municipalities AND even the private RV parks of which many were not as nice as this . See photo of the Google map - Park butts again the Menomoniee River- down the hill back around the K-Mart and Ace Hardware store We camped at River Park Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Lovely little municipal park. Asphalt drives and level pads, manicured grass and lots of shady trees. A reasonable distance between sites with a combination of pull through and back-in full-service sites. Seems to be a number of longer-term (monthly) campers but all very tidy and neat. We stayed overnight but would definitely go back again when we pass through. Should note that they only take cash or cheques. Very helpful staff. We camped at River Park Campground in a Motorhome.

This is a pretty park that can be hard to find as it is over the railroad track behind the Kmart. The turns were a little tight for our 40' motorhome but manageable. The riverfront is very nice with a view of a shipyard across the river in Wisconsin. Very few sites will allow for satellite TV. Sites vary in length so some will only accommodate smaller units. One of the very best places we've ever stayed. Lots of gorgeous and well-maintained grass. Friendly and helpful park staff. Stayed from June until October and plan on returning. Close and convenient but quiet. No pool so not lots of children which I enjoy. Huge camp sites. Across from Marinette shipyard which is amazing to see the huge naval ships. Clean and roomy showers. More positives than negatives, for sure!! There are train whistles at times but who needs constant sleep when you're retired :) Some geese but other campers help chase them away to avoid their nastiness. Bring some warm clothes because some days are chilly (60s). It's rained a lot this summer (2017) and some sites flood but the water goes down quickly. You can keep to yourself or socialize with other retirees. We love this place. We camped at River Park Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Beautiful new laundromat next to great grocery and liquor store (Jack's market). Visit the cute shop in the corner of Jack's Market for souvenirs, gifts, etc. They make fresh pasties.

Paved spots, but had to use lots of ant powder to kill ant hills. Had to wait till after 1pm to check in or pay another 10 dollars. Do enjoy listening to trains. No laundry even though they have seasonal rates. Wifi works well, but tv reception is off and on. We camped at River Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Yes there are Geese however did not have an issue with them in the park its self. In driving into the park I noticed the waste treatment plant and thought the worst, however never did smell anything. Maybe the wind was blowing the other way. The park is well taken care of and a great spot for long term or over night, as I did. I would stay there again! This is a small, manicured county park with level spots, good wifi, located right on the river. However, it is also located directly across from a sewage treatment plant, next to a railroad with trains that blast their horns at 2 AM and again at 3 AM, and down the block from an industrial complex that seems to run day and night. If that weren't enough, their pretty green grass is littered with duck and goose droppings. We won't be stopping here again. We camped at River Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Three week stay to see family and visit the local library for geneology research. We LOVED the resident goose population as there were wee chicks growing in front of our eyes. The park is near the bridge, and rescue vehicles seem to only come from Marinette over the bridge to Menominee, so there was quite frequent siren noise. Industrial action by the river made for some stinky days that resembled the smell of fried power cords, which threw us off a bit at first. Staff here were excellent and during a water line issue were very communicative and apologetic about it while the repairs were being done. Fastest way into the park---go into the shopping center and right between the two major buildings (Kmart and the grocery store), and straight ahead is the entrance. (or, follow the GPS or published directions and loop through the streets wondering if you found it yet). Handy laundromat nearby next to the grocery store. Showers were private, pristine, well-drained, and plenty of hot water. Very friendly seasonal folks. We camped at River Park Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Try Mickey Lu BBQ for a burger, and Brother's Three for a pizza (both in Marinette). I do not recommend the Chinese restaurant close to the park.
Henes park (Menominee) has seen some improvement over time--great place to take the dog, as is Red Arrow park in Marinette.
