This is a basic campground with mostly back-in sites. We did have one of the few pull thru sites but our 5th wheel barely fit and we had to find somewhere else to park our truck. Sites are grass/dirt and not well "defined". Very close together. W/E only. One bath house for the entire park. No cable but could get several OTA channels. Wi-fi, picnic table and fire ring ( which we located on the wrong side). Roads are tight for big rigs. No pool or play area. Located on the St. Mary's River and you can watch the freighter traffic. Great location to visit the Soo Locks. We camped at Aune-Osborn Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Best choice for a campground we saw while we were visiting Soo. Our site was facing the water and we enjoyed watching the huge freighters passing right by our windshield. Most sites are 30-amp which was an issue for our rig, as was the lack of sewer hookups, but we still liked the park very much. We camped at Aune-Osborn Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Boat launch is right next door. I tried several apps for my cellphone to identify the ships passing by with no success, but then found the internet site http://ais.boatnerd.com/ which shows them on the map, with name, photo, speed, location, size and other info. There is also a hotline 906-253-9290 with the locks boat schedule. Best approach right now is I-75 exit-394, then west one block to Eureka St and follow Portage Ave around right through town to the park.

Great park to watch freighters on the St. Mary river. No sewer but we were only there 2 nights to view the Soo locks and the freighters. Check in was easy as I had prepaid. you must pay an $8 fee to reserve. We camped at Aune-Osborn Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

A very nice city owned and run campground on the banks of the St Mary's river. St Mary's is the main channel for the gigantic Great Lakes ore boats to travel from Lake Superior into Lake Huron and beyond. Actually it's the main channel for any size boat making the transit between the two lakes. Campsites are situated so that any rig has a fairly decent view of the river and the boats going by - but the outer ring of sites have the best views (and are considered 'premium' sites). Our site #33 was on the 2nd row from the river, but we had a great view of the ships. Oops, lost my train of thought there while one of those 1,000-ft long ships eased down the river. And since all sites area back-ins, if you reserve one of the premium sites and have a rig with a rear living room, that's camping about as good as it gets. Site pads are a mixture of grass, sand and gravel. Could tend to be a bit soggy in rainy weather. Asphalt interior roads are easy to navigate. Power pedestals are located on the correct side of the sites, usually toward the back, But water hook-ups are on the wrong side and quite far away. Luckily we carry a 50-ft and a 75-ft hose. The 75-footer was just long enough. Be aware though, the water pressure is 90psi, so you'll need a reducer valve. Apparently, unlike in years past, the camp is pretty quiet, except for the occasional ship's whistle blasting through the air. We'd stay here again and perhaps even spring for one of the premium sites. We camped at Aune-Osborn Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Would be a 10 if pads were concrete or paved, and sites had sewer connections. Stayed in our Class A, 45' motorhome with F150 truck. Clean showers, restrooms, laundry. Paved streets, gravel/grassy sites. Open campground, only about 3 sites have any shade to speak of. Friendly staff. Adjacent boat launch. Dual dump station. May need a long elec cord or extended water hose to reach the connections (usually at the rear of the site). Excellent location to see the locks & the area. Roads easy to navigate. About 24 waterfront sites and several other sites have a partial water view. Benches at the waterfront to watch all the water activity. Would stay again. We camped at Aune-Osborn Campground in a Motorhome.

The park is basically just a field with hook ups. No trees, mostly dead grass. However, the location is great, the sites that look at the St. Mary's river are great, you can watch the big container ships heading to and from the locks. We would stay here again just to watch the passing ships. We camped at Aune-Osborn Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

The city of Sault St Marie is just up the street. Lots of shopping downtown. You can visit the locks and museum. There are several companies that provide boat tours. The Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum at Whitefish Point is an easy day trip and well worth the drive.

Very nice park , restrooms, and private showers spotless. Nice laundry room . only reason not a ten would be nice to purchase firewood on site and playground , but there was a city park on the other side of the boat ramps. We had lake view watching ships all day long. We camped at Aune-Osborn Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Clydes nice drive in is within walking distance , Guido's Pizza delivers to your site great pizza. Valley camp ship was great museum was great a lot of history of shipping I never knew. of course Soo Locks park has neat observation look out and a museum. There is a casino 10 minutes away and Walmart and Meijer off I75 3 mile road exit. Meijer looked like it had the best access in town for getting fuel if your towing or in a MH and very convenient to I75

Park is very nice, right on the St. Mary's River. We had a second row site which backed up to the river and worked nicely for our rear picture window. We also had a nice tree but many sites are in full sun. We camped at Aune-Osborn Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Located within minutes of the locks and downtown this park lies along the St. Mary's River, an active freight way. All riverfront sites are back in and divided by view between those for Class A and trailers. Sites are mostly level gravel, sand and grass. Electric tower located mid site and voltage at 115. Water, with great pressure, was on opposite side and required 2 hoses. Good OTA TV reception. Verizon with data and mobile. Heavy rains had left park with some standing water and soggy sites. There is a park connected on the far side of the boat launch which was perfect to walk dogs. There are also benches along the riverfront so even if you do not have a waterfront site there are comfortable places to sit. Laundry Room has 3 machines at $2 a load for wash and a $1.25 a load for dryer. We would definitely stay at this park again if we were in the area. We camped at Aune-Osborn Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Beautiful CG located on the banks of the St Mary's River separating the US & Canada. Beautiful sight on St Mary's River with 1000 foot vessels passing by the CG heading to/from the Soo Locks, traveling between Lake Superior and Lake Huron. No shade, but no problem as we experienced cool temperatures. All sites were back-in, gravel, level, water and electricity, but NO SEWER. This is a big drawback to me and would probably prevent me from returning. Showers were very nice, private and clean. However, no heat in the showers, and being a southerner temperatures in the 50's necessitate heat. Plenty of hot water though, so the shower was successful. We camped at Aune-Osborn Campground in a Travel Trailer.

This city owned campground is again being managed by the city. They are adding improvements to the infrastructure and service. We were very pleased with our stay although would have preferred to be able to pull in to our waterfront spot vs having to back in. Pick your space carefully to insure you get the view and location you want. We camped at Aune-Osborn Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Antler’s Restaurant has a unique atmosphere but the food is pretty average. The West Side Drive In serves a great burger in a car hop scenario. Highly recommend. Also download the “FindShip” app and time your visit to the Soo Locks Visitor Center so you can watch a ship go through.

The location on St. Marys River is great - the ships coming to & from the Soo Locks pass very close to the campground & there are benches to sit & watch the ships & other boats. The "premium" sites face the river so these people don't need to leave their site to watch the ships. We only made reservations a few days in advance, so these sites were all full. But our site was a very short walk away. The bathrooms & showers are very modern & clean. We camped at Aune-Osborn Campground in a Travel Trailer.
