City park with campground. Paved roads and grass sites. Some sites have large trees and half with no trees. Utilities at odd locations, some up front of site, some on wrong back corner, some with water and elec in opposite front and back corners so brings extra hoses. Family campground on weekends with pool & playground. Dump station location off level so can't completely empty tanks and no water faucet to back flush tanks. Be aware of low branches, especially at registration parking by office. Staff not so friendly or helpful. Ok for camping with kids on weekends, but not so good for travelers and not easy for big rigs. Will not stay there again. We camped at Scottsville Riverside Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

I stayed here for two nights while traveling through in a 27 foot motorhome with a tow car. This was the jumping off point to catch the Lake Michigan car ferry in Luddington. Very nice medium size county park on a river with a campground which has both electric and water hookups and also cable. Lots of grass and some shade trees with a very small camp store and a swimming pool reserved for campers. There are two loops -- one a gravel road loop to the right as you enter and a paved road loop to the left. The paved road loop sites (1-22) seemed more spread out and are all grass and seemed to be taken by folk traveling through. My site was very spacious as were many of the others. I ended up using mine as a pull-through. Electric and water is shared between adjacent sites so you could be a long way from your hookups. In site 10 (a paved handicap site) the gentleman with a fifth wheel had to back up well off the pavement and nearly to my back window to reach the hookups. A little odd. There is a separate tent camping primitive area down by the river and also a group camping site with its own shelter. It is less than 20 minutes to the ferry dock so very convenient. Another odd thing is that when I called ahead of time to reserve my site I had to mail one night's deposit to the campground. Very quiet -- I was there in the middle of week. Didn't use any of the facilities but campground was very attractive and well maintained and very convenient both to access and to drive through. Verizon coverage was good. We camped at Scottsville Riverside Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Luddington State Park is about a half hour away. The lighthouse hike is two miles out and two miles back -- don't let them tell you otherwise. Hiking/walking trails in other areas of the park (through the dunes and forested areas and along the river) were beautiful and well marked and several were paved. No dogs allowed on the beaches.

Hate to keep posting the same year after year but this park has improved each year. Grass is kept great, playgrounds, pool, office, day-use area, and roads are all in great shape. Power level is good and cable is the best. Too bad it doesn't have sewer hookups. The dump is tilted a little the wrong way so can be a challenge. Disc golf on site is improving each year. We camped at Scottsville Riverside Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Activities this time were 2 mile beach walk to Big Sable lighthouse and local disc golf courses. Best place for ice cream is House of Flavors in Ludington after a great turkey dinner. This park is a jewel that has not been found by too many. That is a good thing.

Overall Rating:

This is a city park with well kept grounds, large grass sites, water, electric, cable, and Wi-Fi. Heated pool was clean and park had wood available. A disc golf course on-site was a bonus as was the closeness to Ludington and Lake Michigan. We will return as we do every year for disc golf and House of Flavors in Ludington. We camped at Scottsville Riverside Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Cities of Scottville and Ludington were great for shopping while Lake Michigan added the big water choices. Restaurants were fantastic with good variety.
