Resort is on Big Sand Lake near Remer MN. Most of the campers are seasonal, but there are a few sites for transients. Owners and seasonal campers are very friendly and the resort is well-maintained. The swimming pool is pristine. Boat docks are available, as well as a ramp for launching your boat. The laundry room is on the small side and contains only one washer and one dryer. There are lots of trees, so all we could get on our Dish tailgater were local channels. AT&T and Verizon MiFi both worked very well. We would stay here again if we were in the area. - Bobbi1948

We stayed here over the Labor Day weekend because we couldn't find any other parks available. While the RV park looked nice enough, the spaces were pretty small. No room to park tow vehicles. The electric service was marginal and we were told no action would be taken to correct the problem. We had to run generators because the service was so poor. The water pressure was also very poor, which resulted in our putting water in our tanks to use our pumps. The restaurant was very good. We had breakfast there each day. I would not stay here again, if there were any other options. - Sally Chew
Jul 2013 - $30.00
The RV park and motel are just off US-169 as you turn into Quadna Road, but the office has been moved up to the Lodge, a mile further back on the bumpy and potholed road. Staff is pleasant. Wi-Fi is only available at the office, a mile (one way) drive from the RV park. Verizon 4G works great, T-Mobile does not. The RV park and motel are a bit run down, but most sites are nicely spaced. No laundry - go into Hill City for that. - Ray Waugh
Aug 2012 - $25.00
This campground is part of the much larger Quadna Mountain resort complex. The campground entrance is only about 100 yards off of Minnesota Hwy 169, but the office is in the main lodge a mile farther up the Quadna Mountain road. (WiFi connection only available in the lodge.) This campground is a good value at $25 a night for full hookup sites. Tree shaded back-in sites are angled for easy backing. Restrooms and showers are basic but clean and well-provisioned. - John45

Very clean park. Restrooms were very clean. Has real showers not just a push button that runs for 20 seconds. Roads are narrow. Pulled my 35' 5th wheel through just fine though. A couple of shared sites for get togethers. Nice dump station area. Great playground for the kids. Only con in my eyes, the amount of lights that light up the park at night. Not make or break but when we go out we like seeing the stars. - Dlaird
Aug 2019 - $13.00
We stayed 4 nights in a 40 foot fifth wheel. OMG, we just love this! We have been RVing for five years and full-time for three and this is the only park I have rated a ten where I did not have full hookup. It doesn't matter, I'd stay the two week limit and run to the dump station as needed, this place is beautiful. Most sites are quite spacious and have mature trees and undergrowth for privacy. OK, got that out of my system. The interior roads are paved and well-maintained but like many COE parks they didn't anticipate large RVs. Just be careful on the turns and you will be fine. Be sure to check site details for campsite length as they are not at all uniform. The first five or six sites are full hookup; all others are electric only. There are long term folks here without full hookup, but I don't know how they do it. Only one host/camper site has hookups. They have buddy sites also if that interests you. They were really nice. You can also launch your boat and then more it by rope to the shore overnight. Really nice. - Moe and Flo are on the go

Beautiiful park on a lovely lake. Easy access to launch ramp for boat. Very quiet and peaceful surroundings. The horse flies and mosquitoes were annoying, but with Cutter they were manageable. - Sue0805

The shower facility was clean but they charged .50 for 3 minutes to use. I paid $54.00/night I thought the use of the shower should be free. - Camping girls

This is a 55 and older RV Park but they will make exceptions..... The owners are very nice people! Beautiful rv park on Pokegama Lake, boat launch and docks for boaters and fuel. Restrooms & showers, no laundry facilities. Very close to Grand Rapids for shopping. Our site #10 pull thru full hook up with only 30 amp electric & easy entrance and exit. Concrete pad for the picnic table and fire ring. Owners will deliver firewood if needed for 7.50 a wheelbarrow which was a good buy for us. If in the area we would stay here again. - JR and The Boys
Jul 2017 - $35.00
This is a 55 and older RV Park. They don't offer any discounts, and the daily rate was $35.50 per night. The owners are very nice people! It was a beautiful rv park on Pokegama Lake, and very quiet and restful! The park is clean and has no duck or geese droppings like so many parks near lakes. They also have a boat launch and docks for boaters. There is no on-site store with supplies. There are men and women restrooms with showers. There are no laundry facilities, so the daily rate is a little higher than it should be. But, this is the standard for Minnesota. The rv park is close to Grand Rapids for shopping. We stayed two days, and we would have loved to have stayed longer, but we had reservations in another town/rv park. We had full hook ups with 30 amp electric. There is nice spacing between campers. We had a pull through with easy entrance and exit. The site had a concrete pad for the picnic table. We stepped from our 5th wheel on to the concrete, which was very nice. If we were ever in the area, we would definitely return to Sugar Bay Campground. - Lindy White

Our purpose for staying here was to visit family who live less than a couple miles away. If not for that convenience factor, we probably wouldn't have paid this much to stay here. It was OK for our 40 foot motorhome, but it's really a cabin resort with seasonal pull trailers and a couple transient sites. We had a grassy site that was pretty level, after driving down a big dip from the campground road. If you have a boat and want to go fishing, this location is probably great since they have a marina. We didn't go on the lake at all. The couple who own the resort are very friendly and helpful. They are in the process of making improvements since they bought it a couple years ago. But the laundry room we had a front row view of from our campsite was probably on its last legs about 10 years ago - it's leaning different directions, wood rotting, paint peeling. Ditto for the building that said Men and Women - I didn't see another restroom building and I didn't get close enough to that one to see if it's actually functioning. Since it's a lakefront resort and we were there in the summer, there was lots of noise and activities, but they're good about keeping quiet hours so it didn't go on into the night. Our Verizon cell and MiFi worked fine here. Water pressure was OK - we've had a lot better and we've also had worse. We had a picnic table and fire pit. Be sure to provision before you get here - there are no grocery stores, gas stations, or anything around. - Roaming Together

Sep 2019 - $13.00
Nice park right on the Mississippi just a couple miles outside of Grand Rapids, MN. 18 sites that are electric only. Sites 1 - 13 are on the river, and 14 - 18 are across the road from the river. Most sites are level, although for some of the sites along the river the driveway slopes down from the road. Longer motorhomes will have difficulty getting level on a few of the sites. Should be no problem for most trailers and fifth wheels. Sites 9, 12, and 13 have the most slope. Most people report that the tree cover is too dense for satellite TV reception, but we were able to get it to work on site 13, apparently with just enough of a break between trees. We had no OTA TV stations, but others have been able to get a couple. Nice modern bathroom with shower at the main park building. Vault toilet also. This is a popular park, so it was full even in the second week of September. All sites require advance reservations, so book it online before you show up. - Steve Vogel
Jun 2019 - $13.00
What's better than a large, inexpensive, beautiful COE campground minutes from major road for an overnight stay? Extra large mostly level packed dirt pad large enough for our 38 ft fiver and tow vehicle with room to spare. Good 50 amp service rear of site. No water. Dump station at far end of camp. Good shade. Walking trails over dam great for dogs. Train went by 3 times with horns. Traffic noise but not overwhelming. - bbmidwife

Very nice COE park located on the shore of Pokegama Lake/Mississippi River. Trees nicely trimmed, most sites somewhat level, good electrical. Good place to take advantage of activities and sites in the area. Shaded, satellite TV difficult. - dehdave

Mostly permanent campers. A couple seasonal sites may be available with full hook ups. Several temporary sites with water and electric, but no sewer. No dump station. Restroom/Shower house in campground. Swimming beach on lake, boat landing, many docks, fish cleaning house, residents on site, office has WiFi and is open 8am to 8pm. South off Hwy 2, 6-1/2 miles of "good" winding dirt road ending at the campground. Wonderful, no nonsense owner/managers, will help with what ever you need. One dock comes with camping spot in central dock area. Premium gasoline pump at dock. Firewood available for a fee and delivered to your campsite. Harbor is protected in a channel. Limited supplies available in office (ice, non-perishables, charcoal, aluminum foil, etc). Dogs welcome but must be on a leash and cleaned up after. The sites are nice and large, each site has a picnic table and fire ring. The park is mostly heavily wooded. There is a nice clear stream and there are canoes and inner tubes available. The roads and pads are all gravel, watch out for the speed bumps. There is a clean heated swimming pool. There also is a camp store with reasonable prices, a game and recreation room. There is a nice patio with a fire ring overlooking the stream. The bathrooms and laundry were very clean. The Wi-Fi worked well at our site. The staff were friendly and made coffee for our group. The park was about 75% seasonal campers but that was not a problem. This park is located far enough away from the highway so that it was very quiet and peaceful. It was a very pleasant stay and we would return. - pawatt

This is a typical bare bones fairground. All of the sites are on grass. The one road into the fairgrounds is on asphalt then turns to packed gravel. There is an area for RV parking and another section for tenting. In order to get to any site you have to go on the grass that has lots of trees and very bumpy. Most of the RV sites had 20/30 amp, a few had 20/30/50 amp electrical service. There is a dump station within the fairgrounds. Water is available via a spigot against a building as you drive into the park. There is a sign pointing to where the water spigot is located. The bathroom and showers were OK but not very appealing. We chose not to use them. The electrical voltage was very strong, hovering around 127. Verizon air card and cell phone worked well here. We would return to this campground if we were in the area. - adsaxs
