Overall Rating:

This a campground that depending on how you come in can either be real easy to get to, or a real pain since you have to deal with city traffic. So pick your route in carefully. The section we stayed in is new and near the front of the park and appeared to be for short term occupancy. The road into and the roads in the section we stayed in were paved, wide, and with no overhanging trees. The campground is neat, well groomed, there is no trash lying around and it's appearance gives evidence of being well taken care of. The only big negative is the geese that roam freely throughout the park and you know what they leave behind. So, watch your step. We had a nice long, wide, concrete pad. However, it is not level. There is a slope to the front. We needed leveling blocks under our front wheels and our leveling jacks to get ourselves level without lifting the front wheels off the ground. Walking around I noticed that most of the sites in this area are unlevel to some degree. There is good site separation, but nothing between you and your neighbor to give a sense of privacy. Registration was smooth and efficient. In this section you are near the laundry which is a good size with all machines in working order. There is also a really nice pool close by. Verizon WiFi and MiFi was slow but adequate. DISH signal excellent. We would consider staying here again. We camped at Timberlake Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Within the immediate area there are all the major stores for shopping, from grocery to auto to pharmacy. Every kind of restaurant is also in the area. There is also a Camping World Super Store within 30 minutes if you need supplies. Take time to visit the Mississippi Agriculture and Forestry Museum.

Nice setting on the lake. Friendly trusting staff. Drive around and decide on site you want. One bathhouse was dated and needed some work but others looked good. Some sites have cracked asphalt to park on. Asphalt can be narrow, muddy along sites if recent rain. Shaded sites. Good value. Great sunset photo op on lake. We camped at Timberlake Campground in a Motorhome.

This is a great place to saty overnight or for a week. You need to book a reservation because the short term area can be filled with fishermen and women who come to tournaments at the Ross Barnett Reservoir. We camped at Timberlake Campground in a Motorhome.

Very nice park on the reservoir. Most of the campground is heavily wooded, so sat. reception might be a challenge, but we were in the front section that has an open view of the sky. Nice concrete sites, with paved roads. Good water pressure, good phone service with Verizon. The park has wifi, but it was not working during our stay. Easy check-in. We stayed for 4 days during a rain storm. Staff is very nice and helpful. You can find out which ones are available and then go out and set up to claim the first-come-first-served site. Then go in and pay. Be aware - lots of trees. No satellite. A lot of sites have broken up concrete. But some pads are nice. We stayed at N7 on the lake which had a clear sky for dish. The pad was in good shape but at such and angle I had to go and get more blocks to get it level. About 4 inches side to side. But it was a beautiful location. We camped at Timberlake Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Park is on Barnett Lake on North edge of Jackson so lots of traffic. Our back-in site was first come-first served so good thing we arrived early afternoon. Most of park is monthly rentals and some permanent residents but well kept; no junky rigs. We camped at Timberlake Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Check-in process was easy and lady at the desk was very friendly. Called and made a reservation about 3 weeks in advance. They required the first nights deposit to hold the site. We were placed on site N131; a very large concrete pull through site in the new section on the left of the entrance. This site was wide enough for our 5th wheel with slides out and probably an additional 8 feet for lawn chairs on the concrete. Sites in the new section had picnic tables and grills. It was not near the water but it was near pool, laundry and bathhouse. Pool was very nice and the bathhouse was nice and clean. The new section did not have many trees and we only had shade in the late evening on our site. The roads looked to be newly paved. The new section had wide roads that were easy to maneuver but in the older section the roads were narrow and not easy to maneuver with a 40' 5th wheel. The older sections are heavily wooded, the new section is mostly open. It seems that more than half the park is longtime residents as some had permanent fixtures on the site and it was apparent the RV had not been moved in a very long time. There was a place where there were mailboxes for those residents. I was surprised a state park would allow long term residents. Kroger supermarket was across street. Plenty of Restaurants, Gas/Diesel and shopping all close by. $28 + 3% up charge if using a credit card for payment - full hookup and Senior 62+ discount. Park did not have Cable TV or WiFi. We camped at Timberlake Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed in the brand new section closer to the road, farther from the water. Sites were concrete and a nice size, but unlevel enough that we needed to use some blocks under our motorhome's rear tires and jacks before we could get level. This was a very nice park, especially considering the price ($25) for full hookups in a public park. The park looks like it's been gradually expanded over time, with some sections looking very old with broken concrete, others old but in good condition, and some new. The older sections are heavily wooded, the new section is mostly open. The campground does allow long-term stays, but it's surprising to see so many long-term rigs in a public park, some which look like they haven't been moved in 5-10 years. There's no WiFi, but both Verizon and AT&T worked fine. We walked across the street to the Kroger supermarket which was convenient, and there are plenty of other stores and restaurants a short drive away. The campground is large enough for good dog walks, but there's also another public park next door which we often walked to that has a popular fenced dog park and lake access. We will definitely return when passing through the area again. We camped at Timberlake Campground in a Motorhome.

Nice park north of Jackson. It was challenging for us to maneuver our big rig through the park to get to our site. Most of the best spots with views of the lake are occupied by long-term residents and therefore would make it a great place to stay for a few months. No working wi-fi. Management is friendly and helpful. Great grocery store across the street and plenty of nearby restaurants. It is about a 20 minute drive into downtown Jackson. We stayed one night in spot N3, which is on the water. The pads are concrete and very wide. It will accommodate your camper and all your chairs/rug. It seems that at least half the park are longtime residents as we saw many travel trailers with real lawn furniture and attached wooden porches. There is a nice big laundry with plenty machines. Most sites have at least some shade, if not completely shaded. They paved the roads and some have a very big drop- of. We had to pass up our first choice spot because we couldn't back the camper in without running the risk of slipping the truck off the pavement. Grocery store and gas station are across the street. There is also a tennis court and a basketball court. We camped at Timberlake Campground in a Travel Trailer.

A large, very nice park right on the Ross Barnett Reservoir. There are many seasonal campers, but plenty of sites for short stays. We chose a site right on the water front, and were rewarded with beautiful sunsets from the picnic table. The long concrete pad was not completely level, but all the hook ups were very accessible. There are many amenities in the park: boat ramp, pool, tennis and basketball courts, and grocery stores and restaurants very near by. The office staff were very friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay. We camped at Timberlake Campground in a Travel Trailer.

We were driving the Natchez Trace first of June, 2017 and ended up taking a chance getting a spot at Timberlake after-hours (no reservation). We were in a 25' Motorhome, so were flexible with our site selection. We drove around a bit before selecting an interior spot that seemed fairly level. The park was pretty full. The roads somewhat confusing to navigate and had we been pulling our tow vehicle or driving a big Class A, I imagine there would have been some pretty tight spots. The site we selected had tall trees with a dirt pad. There are sites along the reservoir, but all of those were taken by folks who looked either permanent or who were staying awhile. It appeared many of the RVers were there for the water sports. We had our dogs and it was a nice park to walk around. There is a fenced in tennis court with a basketball goal and we fiddled around in there late at night and were able to let our stir crazy dogs run off some steam. That was great, although we wouldn't have done that had there been anyone on the courts. Aside from electric and water, we didn't take advantage of the facilities as this was more of an overnight for us. The next morning, we went to pay and the woman was frustrated with a new computer system...thankfully I had some cash and paid her $25, which made her quite happy as she didn't have to deal with trying to figure out the cc payment system...apparently that is her son's thing. It is a lovely park. I'd certainly stay here again if passing through the area. We camped at Timberlake Campground in a Motorhome.

My site was level and spacious with a good view of the Ross Barnett Reservoir. The park is close to grocery stores and restaurants. A nice, long, paved bike trail is located just outside the park. Nice wide paved sites, some back-in, some pull thru. We were in the newer section. Each site had a grill, picnic table and room to park additional vehicles. The pool was very nice. Although the laundry room had older machines, it was spacious. The area was upscale with lots of restaurants and shopping. There is a strict "no alcohol" rule which we find unreasonable as it discourages interaction with the neighbors. But otherwise, a very nice park. We camped at Timberlake Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed at the park for 2 nights on our way north from the Rio Grande Valley. We stayed in the "new section" on a concrete back in site, that was wide enough to park two Rvs on. Everything we saw was well maintained and well laid out. My cousin lives close by, so we were introduced to the area and found it to be very nice. Being on Ross Barnett Lake I'm sure spots are hard to find in the summer, plus there are a sizable number of seasonal spots. We camped at Timberlake Campground in a Motorhome.
