This tiny campground is attached to the Mississippi Petrified Forest. Staying at the campground gives you a discount at the Forest. The campground is heavily wooded with a dirt/gravel road through it. Our site was full service. Some of the full-time campers look like they work construction in the region and camp there because of the price. That said, everything felt safe and well cared for. There are lots of picnic areas and open green space around the entrance, as if the Forest is a frequent stop for school groups. The Petrified Forest is a fascinating 45-60 minute self-guided walk. It is really interesting if you like fossils and such. We arrived after lunch, went through the Forest, camped overnight and left the next day. There isn't much else to do while you are there. The Forest is just off the Natchez Trace. - ShoreXplorers

We pulled in on a whim because we are fossil fans. The Petrified Forest is privately owned and has an attached campsite with room for eleven rigs. They charge a modest $22/night. The full service campsites are neat, clean, well maintained. A maintenance worker came by for morning clean up and check on things. An employee came by in the afternoon to check that all was well. The road are narrow and the turns on the one big loop are little on the tighter side but not impossible for our rig and there were no trees and hazards near the road. The roads themselves were surface washed out in a few spots but there was also a lot of fresh gravel as if being on a hillside it is constant struggle to keep the roads from washing out. The setting is overall beautiful trees and shady. Some campsites are close together, most are widely spaced. There are both pull throughs and back ins. There are some longer term residents but the owners limit those to 6 months and I presume they are employees because their rigs were all neat and newer. There was a long list of rules but none onerous for a short term stay. We were originally sent to #7 but the very nice lady checking us in said we could change to #8 if we wanted to. This was a good thing because #8 was not long enough for our rig to find a level spot without unhitching. #8 was just long enough that we could be both level and stay hitched. There was no wifi available. Overall a very good value and we were pleased with our stay. I wouldn't go out of my way to stay here again, but it was well worth stopping and seeing once. - Judy Birchland
Apr 2014 - $22.00
This was a small park with mostly permanent campers. The spot we had was very shady and hard to level. There were really only 3 sites for overnighters. Had anyone gotten the site next to us it would have been too close. The walk through the park was nice. There was little else to do, although the day use area had plenty of space for playing. We stayed two nights but one would be better. The only place to walk is on a county road which was not busy thankfully. It was very quiet and the tent sites were a good ways from the bathrooms. - winnie1
Nov 2019 - $27.00
Would be 10 but site was not near level but was within our auto level range. Nice spaces between sites. No pad. Very few trees. Lots of nice sites. Would recommend for short or long stays. Staying 4 nights. - snowbirdstoday

Reading previous reviews, we find this park better than many have rated it. Roads and sites are gravel, but that is far from unusual. Our site, and those around us were at least as level as some of the concrete sites in the newer parks we stayed in. There are a lot of permanent residents, but the places near the transient pull throughs seemed mostly well maintained. Yes, there are drainage ditches, but roads and sites are generous enough so as they would not offer a hazard unless you were driving with your eyes closed. No highway, train or plane noise, except for the locals heading out to work in the morning. Can't fault that. Enough trees to pretty the place up, but not a problem for even a large coach to navigate. Only real down side was the cleanliness of the showers. Blame the users as much as the park. We would never leave showers in that condition after our using them. (Hair, etc.) However, the shower curtains were dirty and torn, and that's on the park. This is no destination park, but absolutely OK as a stopover. Especially if you use your coach shower. Especially at this price. We would stop here again without hesitation. - nobghuri
May 2019 - $30.00
There were many seasonals who haven't taken care of their units. Laundry facilities were great. But didn't feel at ease staying there. One seasonal had a large dog/wolf that he let run free. It attacked other dogs on leash yet park owners apparently didn't do anything. It was a port in a storm literally, but would not stay there again. - auntiealy
Jun 2016 - $20.00
RV park has a large number of permanent users. Some trailers are in good condition others look like old FEMA trailers. Pull-through pads are broken concrete. We found one that was not bad in the middle #20 that we could get jacks down on good concrete and keep the toad on it. Full hook up was good. It worked for us for an overnight stop.
My GPS did not take me to the location if you use the address on the web site. - GMS
Oct 2011 - $20.00
This park has absolutely no trees. All the sites are very unlevel and no grass. There are mostly people who live here year round and have lots and lots of junk outside their trailers. Trailers have air conditioners sticking out of them. They even have pet roosters (that management knows about.) I will not be staying here again. - rascal12
Oct 2011 - $15.00
Nice facility but a really lackadaisical staff with few customer service skills. They will not take reservations, fine, but when we called just to see if a site might be available, she says, “I don’t have my book in front of me but it should be no problem.” When we got there it was, “Whoops, I forgot that a Holiday Rambler Rally had booked all of the sites for this week. Oh, you can drive around and see if someone might have left.” They had no idea who was there and who wasn't, and left it up to us to find out! We ended up in an uneven field with 20amp and water only. They also have no dump station. Make sure to ask them to check “the book” when you call. I did look it over, and it is a nice facility if you can get a site. - Adirondack Jack
Apr 2019 - $30.00
This is a hardtop lot with some hedges dividing sites where rigs are parked side by side with utilities in the middle. It is in the middle of a trailer park-like community. It is easy to get in and out, the roads are OK and there is room to maneuver. Good place for a one night stop when traveling. Well lit and seemingly safe. As we arrived on a Sunday the - TRDAWG
Apr 2019 - $30.00
We made a 1-night stop here on our trip west. We arrived after hours and followed the instructions to pick an available site. This proved to be to our benefit as we moved from site to site trying to find one that was even close to level.
The park has park model units on landscaped areas around the perimeter. This area, and the pool are attractive and well maintained. The RV area is a giant asphalt parking lot on a sloping hill. Sites are set-up in pairs with common utlities in between (i.e. parked facing in opposite directions. Water and electric were fine - there is no cable TV.
The park is marginally ok for a stopover but only if you’re able and willing to deal with the sloping sites. - P&R Miami
Apr 2019 - $30.00
We were in space 28. The spaces are very tight. I had to disconnect our tow in order to make the turn. I couldn't get any air TV and the site ran slightly downhill. It's certainly adequate for overnight parking but no longer. - jconnally
May 2019 - $18.00
Stayed in #15. Beautiful, right on the lake.
Positives: quiet, shaded, slight breeze off of the lake for most of the day.
Negatives: dirty, mildewed restroom/shower facility, no sewer with the only dump station close to a mile away over poor road
Gravel road, small level concrete pad with gravel ramp from road. - C&C Maxson
Mar 2019 - $17.00
Nice quiet, off the beaten path, next to Jackson. Dump on way out, handy. - 883piglet
Oct 2018 - $22.00
A park full of contrasts - rough roads to enter, horrible pads to park on, and yet beautiful scenery with egrets on the lakes in the park. The pedestal plug was loose and looked very "used". As noted, entry / exit codes required to operate the gate. With all the services elevated, they must have severe floods at times, so stay situationally aware if the weather changes. We might stay here again because of the location. Surprised by the amount of road noise this morning. Our site, 14, could not contain our RV on a level surface. Could not back up because of a large concrete "stop" that would have sheared the rear jacks. Front wheels were at least 6 feet in front of the pad, and were on a upward slant. - cherib
Sep 2019 - $28.00
Park operated by the local water district that controls the lake in a suburb of Jackson. Nice RV park with paved roads with wide concrete site pads with patio, table and grass yards. Quiet. Sites by the lake are all seasonal rentals, overnighters in grassy open area with very few trees for good satellite signal. 5 bars Verizon signal. W&E only and FHU sites. Laundry and nice pool, no rec center. Easy access to large Lake. Would stay there again. Rate with senior discount. - Pepper Dan
Sep 2019 - $30.00
Very clean park. Quiet, office personnel are very friendly and helpful. Pool is a nice size, and clean. - Davidwest
Aug 2019 - $23.00
We showed up at the CG on Tuesday before Labor Day and was fortunate to find a first come, first served site right on the reservoir. There was plenty of grass behind the site to do a little retrieving with our dog. Although there are many full-time residents at the park, the sites and grounds were immaculate. We met some very nice folks on our many daily walks. The newer section up front is right on the entrance road with very little shade and those spots are able to be reserved. The pool was very large, clean and quiet. If the park had WiFi I would have given it a 10. Cell service was very good. Good OTA television. We would definitely stay again. - Our Forantastic Journey
Oct 2019 - $25.00
The owner is VERY nice and provided great suggestions on where to eat and things to see. But, this RV park is in one of the worst locations I have ever stayed. It is right next to a state highway AND train tracks. If it isn't the Jake brake of big rigs slowing down, or the sound of cars and big rigs getting up to speed (Doppler effect gets annoying), it is the train horn blaring a warning. In all fairness, the owner did suggest I wear ear plugs. No fenced dog run, but there is a short dirt road and a small grassy lot to run the dog, as well as a large open field at the end of the dirt road you could probably run your dog with no worries about it getting into trouble, as long as your dog listens when off leash. No trash can or dumpster in the park. Utility connections are at the back of the sites and in a weird configuration with the water connection being on the opposite side of the site from electric and sewer. All utility connections are close to the ground. Sites appeared to be back-in, but no one was near us at the front of the park so I was able to pull thru. Satellite TV signal was easy to get. Verizon jetpack worked well. There is a 5 acre reservoir at the top of the hill and you can fish without a license since it is private property. - TH travelers
Jul 2019 - $31.00
The park is well maintained. Voltage is consistently 115 to 125 throughout the day, with most spaces occupied and 90° days with lots of AC use. Water pressure adequate. Pads level and large enough for my 25 foot Airstream and the tow vehicle to park in line. All pads are back in. We did not use the facilities; we were just here for two nights and spent each day sightseeing and riding our recumbent trikes. Good value. - Joe And Pam L
May 2018 - $35.00
Natchez Trace is 3.4 miles away with speed limits at 50 mph the trace is rough through this section. Where going to get off of it for now.there is some road work going on watch for the bridges very rough.. Lady changed our site to a back in on the lake site 21. The other #8 didn't seem seem like 60 feet long. Has a picnic table and a grill at the site. The slab is wide enough for a patio. They did a great job on the placement of the water, sewer and electrical box. Roads seem good for navigating so they did good on design on what I experienced so far. Nice park we would stop again! I hope this was a help. - JustDon
Oct 2019 - $30.00
This park is convenient to the Natchez Parkway (about 3 miles away) and is part of a marina on a reservoir, run by the state. There are seasonal spots as well as quite a few spots for nightly rental. They do not take reservations so call ahead to see if they have spots open. The bathrooms were dated but clean. There is a laundry room with very reasonable prices. The interior roads were easy to navigate and each site was paved. All are back-ins I believe. Office staff are very pleasant and it seems to be a very safe place to stay with frequent patrols by reservoir police. - Cape Cod kayaker
Nov 2018 - $25.00
This CG is owned by the reservior which is beside it, the surroundings are very beautiful & quaint. Lots of tall trees on the camp ground, helpful lady at the desk. - disneydoc
Oct 2018 - $22.00
Nice quiet campground. We used for an overnight while traveling the Natchez Trace. Pleasantly landscaped and fishing available in the inlet from the large lake. Sites are level and concrete, always a plus. Nice enough for a few nights, although we only stayed one. - busyteach
May 2018 - $29.00
It's cheap! For an overnight it was O.K., but only because it wasn't raining! Overnight pull-through lots are basically in a grass field. Pleasant enough, but with indications that if it was wet it could be muddy and difficult! The location is very pretty but the campsite is marred by a number of long term residents with "stars and bars" very much in evidence with older campers and a lot of extra "stuff" around. Can't really complain, but wouldn't stay here again. - Limey51
May 2017 - $25.00
We actually stay here long term. We love it here. Family friendly, nice lake, pool for the kids, Owner is a great guy. General store is well stocked and has fresh eggs from the resident hens. Loads of ducks and geese, goats and a mini horse to pet. Laundry room is well maintained. Brand new bath house on the entrance side. Beautiful setting. - Lkwd72
Jan 2017 - $24.00
Rough paved road leading to campground and hard pack sand/gravel in CG. Large pull thru site but overnighters located in a low area that was grass, probably would be bad in rainy weather. Cash or check only and no discount. Overnight stay ok but wouldn't choose this CG unless interested in the lake or fishing. - jeeper13
