The other reviews here are spot on. Really peaceful and quiet, especially at night. Even though you can't see it from the camping pads, the Pearl River is literally right beside the park. If you want to camp in a Southern river swamp, this is a good place to do it. We saw many squirrels, birds, and even an armadillo. The pads are all concrete and are all close to level. There are quite a few set ups that you can tell are long-term campers. Even though the campground regulations stated that you must get approval to have a campfire, we saw quite a few, so it must not be hard to get. Be warned, as of the time our stay, there is NO CSpire service at this campground. Overall, a well-maintained and professionally-run site. I recommend. Not much in the immediate area, but you and be in the Jackson, MS metro area within 30 minutes. Lots to do there. We camped at Leake County Water Park in a Motorhome.

Our first RV experience in Mississippi, partially selected on previous reviews. We were directed by gps, from southeast of the park, across some county roads not suitable for a big rig. Too narrow, without shoulders. Try to approach the park from either east or west on Hwy 25. Much better. We arrived to a soggy campground due to unusually heavy rain, flooding the adjacent river and other area campgrounds. Upon arrival on a Sunday PM, we found only one open site long enough fo a 40 foot fifth wheel. No reservations accepted. Half the sites were taken with monthly rentals with very few campers on site. Self service check in OK, with cash or check, and the price was right. Never saw any park personnel although grounds are obviously well cared for. Biking, fishing and campfires appeared to be the primary recreation. A beautiful swimming pool was maintained for the busy season. Walking was limited to the park roads. No good trails for hiking or dog walking found. Utilities worked well but be certain to use a water pressure regulator for high pressure. Beautiful bathouse and laundry facility. Unfortunately the wahers and dryers were in need of maintenance or replacement. They ate quarters and performed poorly. Cozy park with very friendly neighboring campers to make you feel welcome. We camped at Leake County Water Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed here one night after having RV repair work done in Madison, and picking the rig up late afternoon we couldn't go too far. The park is relatively close to the Natchez Trace Parkway, which we explored while the trailer was in the shop. It's not too big, and sits right on the river/reservoir. Sites are well-spaced with plenty of shade trees, but not so many that they get in your way. There is a pool, which we didn't use because we weren't there very long. The park was recommended by someone we met after riding our bikes on the shared Trace path that runs through the metro Jackson area (much safer for cyclists!), and it didn't disappoint. Beautiful location, we'd stay again if in the area. We camped at Leake County Water Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Take the southern entrance to the park off of Hwy. 25. Utah road is a loop, the northern route in was not good. The turn into the campground from that direction is a VERY tight U-turn, not good for big rigs. Southern end of Utah rd. was much better.

Very nice campground, no permanent residents, however, several that appeared to be long-term folks. Nicely wooded location, pool, playground, riverfront facility with boat dock and a rather large fish cleaning station. There were many open, all concrete pad sites when we arrived and it's basically a self-service arrangement. Pick your site, and if the management doesn't come visit and collect the rent during your visit, you are asked to drop it in the drop box at the office. We found a site with SW DISH satellite access, and we had AT&T 4GLTE at about 6MB. We arrived early afternoon on Friday, by 1900hrs that evening the campground had filled up with weekenders and watercraft. However, other than a gigantic cloud of smoke from all the campfires, everyone was well-behaved and relatively quiet and respectful, even the kids, which seemed to be having a great time. We'd stay here again. We camped at Leake County Water Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Bring groceries and charcoal. Things to do? Visit the pool or playground, take your boat down the river, relax, otherwise, not much else in the immediate area. We stayed here when driving the Natchez Trace Parkway.

Nice campground located along the upper Pearl River. This campground has a family feel to it. There are a few permanent campers here, but not enough to ruin your stay. This campground has a clean pool and a playground. I will be staying here again. We camped at Leake County Water Park in a Travel Trailer.

Senior summer rate. Agree will all of the previous review. No Verizon cell or broadband here, poor TV reception via Batwing, got in now and then but always breaking up. Good option for traveling the Trace. We camped at Leake County Water Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This is a nicely run park on the upper Pearl River, All of the pads are concrete, and level. There is a good distance between the sites. There is a small pool and play ground for the kids. There is a boat ramp for those who wish to fish, and fishing is generally pretty good. It is a all year round park. There is a small country store near the park entrance where you can buy some items, plus LP gas. Other wise stock up before you get here because the nearest town is 12 miles away. We will come back here in a Mississippi minute We camped at Leake County Water Park in a Fifth Wheel.
