Site was level side to side and OK front to back. On the lake and shady. Big yard concrete pad that drops off some, but better on this site than most. I used campground photos to select when reserved on line. Picnic table real close to next site. Roads in and out OK. Beautiful lake and woods. Must pick and choose sites though. Will camp here again. We camped at Roosevelt State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Lots to do at Brandon. Pearl has a Bass Pro Shop and lots of shopping malls. Lots of places to eat. Also Vicksburg National Park is only about 50 miles away.

This is a beautiful park very conveniently located just off I-20, but absolutely no highway noise. We loved the peace and quiet in the woods. Located around Shadow Lake, the park offers a lot for many types of campers. Not only were there RV campsites, but tent sites, a lodge, boat ramp, fishing piers, pool and water slide, group buildings and pavilions. Two camping areas are available, the old, which we chose, and a new area with beach for lake swimming on the opposite side of the lake. The bathhouse/restroom near our site was modern and clean with one washer and dryer. Check-in was quick and easy with a very nice attendant. Our site was not quite level front to back and side to side, but was close enough that we didn't use levelers. By parking to one side of the pad we had enough room for a patio area. Our picnic table and grill were on opposite side from RV door and awning and down a slope, so we did not use. If we had camped there for more than one night, it could have been an issue. Most other campsites were not like that. Much has been said in other reviews about the roads being narrow with drop offs in some places. With a shorter RV, we had no problem on the roads, but a long motorhome or trailer/ fifth-wheel would have to carefully navigate to avoid the drop-offs. With the heavy tree cover we could not use our satellite, but 25 over-the-air channels were available. All in all we loved this park and will definitely be back when we are in the area. We camped at Roosevelt State Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

The roads are narrow with some bad shoulders due to heavy rains. It is manageable if you go slowly. The park is beautiful and peaceful but beware of ticks if you have a dog. Our dog got a couple just walking on the streets and sniffing in the foliage off road. To be expected of course in nature. The pull thru site was not easy to manage since the hookups were on the wrong side. It was also difficult to level so we moved next door to a back in which was much better for us. Unfortunately, state parks and such are difficult for our size rig. This park is not one we will probably go to again with the MH we have. Sad since it is so pretty. Some sites do not have 50 amp so be sure to check before setting up. We camped at Roosevelt State Park in a Motorhome.

Beautiful park, but roads and sites are in disrepair. Narrow roads, lots of bad pot holes, many low hanging tree limbs, big drop-offs where new pavement has been applied. Tough to get big rig parked due to tight roads, and sharp drop-offs. Narrow site: no place to sit outside next to RV. I loved the scenery, but I won't stay there again in my motorhome. I don't think it is big rig friendly. We camped at Roosevelt State Park in a Motorhome.

We were only here one night, stopover on way to Alabama. Interior roads are not as scary as previous reviews make them sound, keep your trailer on the road. Our site was tricky for backing in 34' trailer, so that long or longer stay away from 78. Picnic table is on opposite side of trailer door, walk around trailer to picnic table, awkward. Close by was a bunch of kids in tents screaming and yelling and screaming and yelling, not so considerate of anyone else. Storm ran them in, then back out screaming. Site was ok for one night, but hey it was April, not much swimming going on. We camped at Roosevelt State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

The lake was gorgeous. Many sites backed in up the hill from the lake as your back drop. Sites were concrete, mostly level. The trails were definitely through the woods. Some tent sites were available. Fishing at the lake. Also a primitive side with no services. Must have self contained unit. Had to use my porta-potty. Hope bathrooms are in better shape next time. Security was good. Park ranger cruised the camp. We camped at Roosevelt State Park in a Truck Camper.

This is a gem of a state park! We love camping beside the lake. Quiet, beautiful, peaceful. We had our own deck and dock. So close to I-20 but you would never know it! We stay here whenever passing thru the area. Only negative is that interior roads are in need of repair in some spots, but we maneuvered ok with our 40' motorhome. Love state parks. This was a bargain because of the time of year. We had a great view of the lake without paying for a waterfront site premium. Had the whole park just about all to our own at this time of year. Only concern was that the roads, being older, are kind of narrow for big rigs with some bumps, tight corners with drop-offs, and at this time of year were covered with leaves and pine needles making it hard to see where the edges are. We just took it slow and carefully and had no problem. We camped at Roosevelt State Park in a Motorhome.

The stay is for the scenery. Beautiful lake. Tall pines and other trees make a nice wooded area to camp. Roads were terrible. Originally slated to spot 90 facing the lake. Narrow roads make it impossible to back in a 40 ft trailer in some spots. Had to find interior site with bend in road to get set up. Smaller rigs are best here. Convenient to I-20. BEWARE of the drop-offs on each side of pads when backing your rig in. We camped at Roosevelt State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Had to go back to the entry station to ask for a map of park after following instructions given by attendant. Roads are one way inside the park and narrow with hills. We stayed at #37, one of a few pull thru sites. It is a very good site except you had to have extensions for hook ups or go a short way (the wrong way) on one way street. We have 30' TT. Any bigger would be a problem on some of the sites and roads. Older park where some of the camp sites were short, pads cracked and not level. Great thing is that the park is only 5 minutes off highway and very quiet. There were some nice hiking trails but a little over grown. Take bug spray! Stayed one night. We camped at Roosevelt State Park in a Travel Trailer.

This is a large State Park and we were on a large concrete pad. Water and Electric were easy to access. However, in our site the sewer connection was not in a convenient place for our use. We would stay here again. We also stayed here in 2009 but in another section of the park. We camped at Roosevelt State Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Beautiful, quiet park under mature trees on big lake. Stayed in old campground. Sites fine for my size rig (25 feet), but some might be a challenge for long rigs to get level. Didn't visit newer campground but suspect that would be better for larger rigs. Most sites have lake view. Nice space between sites. Sites paved, tables on cement slab though quite a few are on the utility side or behind the RV. Over-the-air TV signal good; Verizon signal strong. Careful of roadside and site edges, though, as there are many spots with no shoulder and a sharp drop of several inches. Another odd feature mentioned in an older review and still the case: there are no dumpsters or garbage cans around. Trash is picked up in the morning and afternoon, but I was not comfortable leaving a bag out with food residue even for a short time as it takes no time for a hungry critter to get into it. We camped at Roosevelt State Park in a Motorhome.

Very relaxed and quiet. A lot of local families on the weekend. Park is massive with several campgrounds. Offseason if you don't have reservations you need to go to the Office-several miles away from the "New Camp" but within the park and then to your site. Otherwise straight to the site. Fishing, hiking, disc golf, canoeing/kayaking, pool and tennis in season. We camped at Roosevelt State Park in a Motorhome.

I wouldn't recommend this park for larger rvs. Suitable for small rvs or trailers. First, roads into the camping area are very narrow, hilly, and winding with some low limbs. Sites we saw were sloped and narrow. No satellite as all sites we saw are surrounded by large, tall trees. Sites are close to each other grouped on hills around a lake. Bathroom was dirty with trash left on the floor. No holder for toilet paper, rolls just left on handicapped railing. We would not return. We camped at Roosevelt State Park in a Motorhome.
