Beautiful state Park. In the RV loop the sites are closer together than most of the Mississippi State Parks we have been in but still much more spacious than most private parks. The loop through the RV campground is really tight and would have been almost impossible with our 40 foot motorhome with cars that were parked into the road. We backed into site 20 and did not need to drive around the loop. Might be a good idea to check out before trying to navigate in a large RV. We had picnic table, fire pit, grill and full hook ups. DO NOT take RD 1050 even if the GPS directs. There is a no truck sign there for a reason. It is the back way in. Stay on Main St until State Park Rd. Ok with car, not so much with RV. - NanciRV
Mar 2018 - $17.00
Small loop for RV sites. They are close together. The rest of the park is beautiful -has great hiking trails and a large lake. Playground area for kids is large. Baseball field is well kept. Tent sites are very nice with seat swing, wood platform, poles for two hammocks and grill. Never seen such nice tent sites! - sp123
Mar 2018 - $24.00
Showers in men's room OK, in women's room clean but head is clogged. Park staff will address. There is very very little telephone reception, ATT and no Verizon and even the visitor center/ registration has poor reception. There is no WiFi. Otherwise this CG is wonderful. LOTS of hiking-2 disc golf courses reputed to be best in the area, Huge lake with fishing, paddling. Small, quiet and the staff is wonderful. Responded right away for our missing spigot handle and did a survey while we were there. They are trying to get WiFi so ask for it to give them numbers. - edc1951

Just overnight this visit. Fairly level sites. Lots of trees in the "overnight" area so no satellite TV, but the free cable was good as was the WIFI. Only disappointing factor was the location of the areas to walk dogs, but made do. Lots of stores and restaurants nearby. - Mack2383
Jul 2018 - $39.00
The best thing about this park is the location. It's tucked away from a major highway but less than half a mile from major shopping center and stores. Roads are paved but narrow with some steep hills and turns. Un-hitching the toad probably would have been easier and should have been suggested by 0ffice staff. Our site had no shade, whereas the photos on the website lead you to believe all sites are tree covered. When I called to reserve, I specifically asked for a level site as our jacks were not working and was told "all of our sites are level". Well they are NOT! It took a lot of work to get an acceptable level with some blocks on our site. Many sites sit on a hill, ours had a hefty incline of 10-15% front and back and it was not level in the middle at all. It had deep ruts in the gravel from others. We have about 3 feet between our slide and the neighbor's slide. No privacy between sites. No picnic tables or specific patio area. Wifi never worked for us. - User1828
Jul 2018 - $39.00
Campground is terraced into a hill so some sites difficult for large RV. Roads narrow. Owners helpful and polite. Need cash or check only. We have 45' coach so a bit tight getting in and out but worked. Sites are very nicely landscaped. Close to restaurants etc but we didn't unhook. A nice park for overnight or extended stay yo visit sites along Natchez Trace or Tupelo. - Jmh510

This is a very small park, a short distance from the Natchez Trace Parkway, and about 10 miles from Tupelo. The grounds are nice and very well kept. The owners are extremely friendly, as were all the other campers staying while we were there. As other reviewers have stated, the interior roads are narrow in some areas, but we never had any issues with our 44 foot rig. There are trees in some parts of the park, but we were able to get a good satellite signal with our rooftop dish, even though we were parked under some trees. We never had any problems with the power or water either. We chose not to use their sewer hookup because we were only staying there for two days, and we decided to situate our rig to insure a good satellite signal instead. We did use their dump site as we exited the park. We enjoyed the quiet of the park, the clean grounds, and the friendly atmosphere during our stay. If we return to the area, we will definitely stay here again. - glenstmary
Oct 2018 - $28.00
Small park just off the Trace outside Tupelo about 10 miles. Sites are close together and not very level. Getting sewer and 50 amp power is iffy because only a few of them. Stayed six nights; first few with no sewer and two wheels of rig off the ground. Moved to site with sewer, but door side of rig was on downhill side so step was high off ground. Park is old but well kept. Lots of grass with two moss filled ponds with water birds. - Bojangles
Jul 2018 - $30.00
This state park is located on a large lake about 10 miles west of Tupelo with two camping areas set on adjacent points of land. The larger lake was dry, looks as though it has been for a while. Site spacing is good, level and paved. Due to its remote location, the park is quiet at night. Fifteen over the air TV stations were available but because of trees the roof satellite would not work. AT&T wireless signals had 3 bars of LTE with download speeds of 8 Mbps and uploads of 1.12 Mbps. Roads into and inside the park are extremely rough. - Ruffin It

We have stayed at this campground twice - four years apart. The first time in a pickup camper. This time in a 40' RV. The park staff is super nice. The grounds are very well kept. The campgrounds are great. I had 2 bars of Verizon 4G on my cell. The shower in the Horse campground was super clean, well laid out and plenty of hot water. This stay was an emergency stop due to generator issues. We will definitely come back to this campground to stay longer. - Wetravel2relax

First all the +'s: The site we had was level, with nice shade, > 170' long with WES 20,30,50 a picnic table and some rocks for a fire ring, no patio but a large grassy/sandy area right on the Lake***. The bathrooms and showers were clean with good pressure and plenty of hot water in the showers. The folks who checked me in noticed I had a 30 amp site without sewer and asked if I wanted one with full hook ups and gave me the nicest site in the park. The park was quiet peaceful and not very full. Verizon phone and Mifi worked great. The roads were easy to get around on except as noted below. Ok the other shoe is going to drop. The roads on the approach to the park and in the park are in some rough shape but low speeds will get you through the pot holes just fine. Now we come to the "Lake". They had about 300-300 yards of the go into to a slump mode on the water side of the dam. The net result is that there's no water in the lake around any of the camp sites. I was told they they "were fix'n it" but I saw no evidence of it. So if you're going to come here and think there's a lake look at the latest google earth pictures and call for an update. With the shape the roads are in I would be real surprised if they get any money to fix it within the next 5-10 yrs. On the bright side this means that there will probably be a lot of availability until it gets fixed and filled again. We'd stay here again if we're in the area. - pumper9x9
Apr 2018 - $25.00
Our impression of this park doesn't seem to match everyone else's, but perhaps it's because it was the 10th state park in a row we visited, and the others were much nicer in our opinion. The road to the campground, and some of the roads inside the campground, are in horrible condition, with broken pavement, huge potholes, and poorly patched areas. The person who checked us in at the entrance was surprisingly unhelpful, didn't give us any information about the park or even instructions on how to get to the campground and our site. We stayed in the new Warrior campground which had large, level concrete sites and full hookups, which was great for the price. Unfortunately both AT&T and Verizon were extremely slow, with AT&T usually not working at all. During the week it was like a ghost town... there were a bunch of RVs in the campground, but we never saw any people, and on the weekend, locals camp here and bring their ATVs to ride around all the trails. It's just a different state park campground experience than we're used to. We walked the trails with our dog during the week until some rain turned them all to mud, and we were advised not to use the trails on the weekend due to the ATVs. It's a good 15-20 minute drive to get to stores or restaurants. Perhaps under different conditions we'd have enjoyed the park more, but next time in the area we'll try a different location. - LifeRebooted

Great park! Great location! Spot for rig was paved and level. Most of the spots are back-in. This time of year only one of the loops was open. There is plenty of room to take off your tow and back your rig in. We came in from the north on John Rankin Highway. It is very winding with no shoulders...just be careful! - Gma Linda

Quiet, level terrain with some scenic lakeside sites. Most are back in sites with 2 full hook ups. Would not hesitate to return. - Dugster

We stopped for an overnight stay and wished we could have stayed longer! This park is absolutely beautiful and the sites are well sized. Lots of trees, shade and beauty abounds. Loved it and highly recommend it. We hope to return for a longer visit in the future. - Bax

We stopped her a couple nights on our way through the area. Quiet place. Everyone we met was friendly. This is a marina that also has 4 full-hookup RV sites added. We stayed here in a 40' motor home. Sites do not have numbers. We were in the site on the South side of the bath house. - jprisbe

A gem of a campground half way along the Natchez Trace. Great hosts, beautiful sites next to a small lake. - C&C Maxson
Mar 2018 - $20.00
We were passing through and only needed a spot for the night. We would have been glad for anything. But this turned out to be a pleasant surprise. It is clean, shady, space and very well appointed. Even the dump station is landscaped. The restroom house was immaculate. Our site was next to the lake with a great view and was level. The place was abundantly peaceful, but it was a weekday and few were there. - Tidy Boy

Pontotoc, Mississippi has the nicest park. Howard Stafford is a city park that caters to all kinds of people. There is a lake for fishing. a play ground for the kiddies, 15 full hookups for the RV'ers and spots for those who had rather camp in a tent. It's with in the town limits only minutes to all the it has to offer. The playground was in use every day by moms with little ones and teens after school. The fishing piers, three as I recall, were in use also. You're bound to find that something you can't live without at the antique stores on Main Street. There is a Donuts shop that serves the kind we had when I was a youngster. You can't just eat one. I will also tell you. The best thing about a visit to Pontotoc is it's small town hostility of it's people. You can learn family history standing in line at the checkout of the drug store. - Laptop Willie
