A Passport America campground. We were drawn by the price and being on our way. Rather far off the highway and actually pretty primative. An ideal campground for those with horses wishing to ride the Natchez Trace National Scenic Trail. They have a barn and outdoor stalls for horses as well as a pasture area. - Paullynn

I have stayed here several times. Its always clean and well maintained. Full hook ups but my site didn't have a fire pit but it did have a grill and picnic table. I saw 3 deer and a large alligator while fishing. - Zoom45V

You must approach this park from the Northeast. Traveling from I55 exit on Rt 27. Go to 51 south to West Georgetown rd which turns to Utica. There is a sign. Take Utica to New Zion rd all the way to Gaddy Ln. There is a sign. Very much worth the drive. The park has full hook ups at a great price. Clean and well maintained. - CJVJn1Doug
Jan 2017 - $13.00
This is a very nice park. The sites are excellent. Getting to the park is almost impossible. There is not one sign, the other review says there are signs it is incorrect. You will never find it without a GPS and getting out of there to head south on I55 is no picnic, the roads are terrible. I would like to say again, this is a very nice campground, if you can get to it. - MAS

When we arrived at this free NPS campground, just off of the Natchez Trace, around noon there were no other campers so we had our pick of "sites." It was impossible to tell discrete sites. The campground layout, if there was a layout, looked like it had been done with crayons on a napkin after drinking too much. There was really no rhyme or reason. We finally chose a fairly level area that looked like it might be a site and was out of the road. The setting itself was actually very pretty and certainly calm. No one except us would like notice, but there was the sound of some sort of distant factory. Later on that evening, there were two additional campers that arrived. There are actually not very many sites that would be level and suitable for a big rig. As distinguished from the other two campgrounds on the Trace, there was no faucet for filling a holding tank. There was no dump, but the toilet does have flush toilets. The only park personnel we saw was a maintenance man emptying trash cans. We had planned on staying at this campground for two or three nights, but left after one night as we did not feel comfortable leaving our rig there to explore the area without any other campers there. It is heavily tree covered, but we were able to get satellite for DirecTV using our portable dish and a lot of patience. We did have weak, but usable Verizon voice and data using our booster. Given the reasonable cost (free), we would certainly stay here a night if passing through. - TheJim
Jun 2017 - $1.00
Can't complain too much about a free campground. Of the three along the Natchez Trace Parkway, this was the one that had not been recently renovated, though it looked like some work was starting to be done.
There is a mix of pull through and back in sites, most are not level, but all have a paved pads and are relatively well spaced with picnic table and fire rings. The road looping through the campground was in rough shape, with a lot of potholes, but otherwise easy to navigate and unobstructed. Bathrooms (there are no showers) were clean and well stocked. Bear boxes for trash are scattered throughout. On site amphitheater looked as if it had not been used in a long time and was literally falling apart. I saw no staff or rangers, and there were very few other campers on the rainy weeknight I was there. - Cyclonic
Apr 2017 - $1.00
The Rocky Springs campground, operated by the National Park Service, is on the Natchez Trace Parkway about halfway between Natchez & Jackson. The maintenance of the campground does not match the excellent maintenance of the Parkway itself. The campground is free, first come first served only, no reservations The internal campground road & pads at sites are badly deteriorated asphalt. There are two restroom buildings with one permanently closed. There is no attendant nor a campground host. There is no water except at the restroom sink, no dump, no electric. There are flush toilets. Neither AT&T nor Verizon cellphone service was available. At the end of April, on a weekend, the campground was no more than a third full, so it was very private. The campground is heavily wooded. There are both back-in and pull-through sites. Some pull-throughs could accommodate two big rigs plus two toads. Two pull-throughs were closed due to construction Bad weather brought down many tree limbs and trees in the general area, but the campground saw little more than some wind and rain. A Park Service ranger came by briefly on the Sunday afternoon to check that campers were ok. There were branches and trees down on the Parkway road immediately after the storm. By the next day they were all cleaned up and the road surface was swept clean. - Teardrop11

It's cheap! For an overnight it was O.K., but only because it wasn't raining! Overnight pull-through lots are basically in a grass field. Pleasant enough, but with indications that if it was wet it could be muddy and difficult! The location is very pretty but the campsite is marred by a number of long term residents with "stars and bars" very much in evidence with older campers and a lot of extra "stuff" around. Can't really complain, but wouldn't stay here again. - Limey51
May 2017 - $25.00
We actually stay here long term. We love it here. Family friendly, nice lake, pool for the kids, Owner is a great guy. General store is well stocked and has fresh eggs from the resident hens. Loads of ducks and geese, goats and a mini horse to pet. Laundry room is well maintained. Brand new bath house on the entrance side. Beautiful setting. - Lkwd72
Jan 2017 - $24.00
Rough paved road leading to campground and hard pack sand/gravel in CG. Large pull thru site but overnighters located in a low area that was grass, probably would be bad in rainy weather. Cash or check only and no discount. Overnight stay ok but wouldn't choose this CG unless interested in the lake or fishing. - jeeper13

Pulled into park and was pleasantly surprised. What a great looking place. The staff/owners were very nice and helpful. The roads are gravel and in excellent shape. Sites are very spacious and level. The only bad thing, and it's not that bad,is you need a long sewer hose. I always carry plenty. This is one of the nicest parks we stayed in during our trip. We planned on one day but stayed two. - Daniel123
Nov 2018 - $25.00
Nice clean park a few miles south of Vicksburg. Friendly owners. Uitilities are solid although located at the very rear of the long pull through sites. The sites look level but it took a good bit of work to get level enough for a couple nights. No problems getting satellite. Wifi was not good but good Verizon. - Pjoe
Sep 2018 - $20.00
PROS: (1) good maintenance, very clean (2) friendly management (3) lots to see in the area (4) reasonable rates (5) steady improvement (6) Clubhouse CONS: (1) sites are not level (2) pedestal is too far back (3) WI-FI next to useless (4) No TV cable --OTA terrible. Just NBC and a few other off-the wall channel. All in all, the pros outweigh the cons. - dhaney1944

Spent two days. Road in, terrible. Was raining heavy, no sign on speed bumps, looked level. No park map, no rules. Park mostly workers, full timers. Concrete pad, no table, gravel roads. Resort? Easy on off hwy. Would stay for 1/2 nites when in area. Only destination if friends/relatives in area. - Long Island Mac

Stayed at this park in 2016 and was happy enough with it that we decided to stop in for an overnight on our way east again this year. Not one of our best decisions. The park has had little or no effort in keeping it up. RV concrete pads have broken up, the dirt driveway to pads have sunk, and the office is not manned on the weekend. All the focus seems to have shifted to long-term residents. The site that was assigned to us when I called in to make my reservation didn't even come close to accommodating our rig. The trees have gone so long without pruning that they completely block the RV pad for anything taller than 9 or 10 feet. That excludes virtually every 5th wheel and class-A. Luckily there was one site that was open enough for us to get in. Sure hope somebody else is not booked for it and comes in off the road to find us occupying their space. On the plus side, power was solid, water pressure good. The sewer connection was a bit of a reach, it fully stretched my 20' hose. Verizon signal was strong but phone stayed in 3G mode quite a bit. Jetpack hooked up but speed was a little slow. - jperry29
Oct 2017 - $35.00
The other review does not describe this park at all, must have gotten the wrong park. This park is easily accessible from the Interstate. It is a little hard to find as it is behind a mall area and not visible from the road. There are a number of units that appear to be there for awhile but they are keeping their area picked up. We had a pull thru, pulled up on a concrete pad. The park is much larger than it first appears. The only negative was a train the blew it's horn for several minutes. - Sup RV's
Jul 2007 - $22.00
I had never been to the park. Just found it by looking in the phone book. I called and asked if they had a space available and for directions. The mailing address is Mullin, Texas but this actually in the community of Regency, which does not have a post office. It is about 5 miles off of paved road from one direction or 1 mile off of paved road from the other direction. The longer route can have several washed out places after a rain and has several trees along the road that kiss your RV. The shorter route is the best way; however, you have to drive over the Regency Suspension Bridge that has a load restriction of 5,000 pounds per axle or tandem. My wife would not let me take the trailer over the bridge! We did walk across the bridge and drive across without the trailer. This park is on the Colorado River in San Saba County, Texas. There is access to the river for fishing, swimming, kayaking (rental is available at the park) from the park. There are 5 small cabins. I did not go into any of them. There is a play area for kids with a swing set and jungle gym type equipment. If you have a light-weight RV and want to add some excitement to your driving, take the short route to the park. If you have a large RV, I recommend taking the long route. My fifth wheel is 27 foot pulled by a crew cab short bed. They only have 10 sites, all pull through with full hook ups (30 amp, water and sewer) and had a small BBQ grill. There is an area for pitching tents. We did get one t.v. station off of our antenna, which really surprised me. There is no cell phone signal. I would not recommend this RV park for Big Rigs. Anything bigger than my set-up might have a hard time making the turn around in the park to get the sites. I would recommend everyone to go to the suspension bridge--what a view! - mortuaryguy

The first thing you see is a very old travel trailer next to the office in very poor condition. On the other side of the office are 8 or 10 motel room the look almost as bad as the trailer. Office staff was friendly and nice. Campground is in the back. You have to negotiate around a couple broken down cars to get there. It is a steep narrow road to get to your site. As another review said, there are concrete ditches along the road for water runoff making it very difficult to get off and on the road. Our site was level and they have a new cable TV system and it worked very well. There are more trailers in the park with trash piled all around them and very disgusting. Due to maintenance work on a power plant out side of town, this was the only place available. That should have told us something. We planned on staying 2 nights, but due to safety concerns we left the next morning. - wrh

Let's start by saying NO NEVER STAY HERE. Now let me tell you why. I travel in an Aliner pop up and weigh most of my ratings on the bath/shower facilities however in this case I have to say this was one of the worse camping experiences ever. Specifics. The cable TV wires had all been cut out I assume due to copper theft. The sites have a ditch you have to cross to pull into the site where my unit drugged the ground. While having my coffee in the morning a campers dog decided to come over and bark continuously at me. The dog owner simply yelled and cursed the dog. Now the the bad part. The shower/bath facility had not been cleaned in a very long time. There were huge ants and other bugs all inside the shower. When I turned the hot water on to wash the ants and bugs out, the entire faucet came out of the wall allowing hot water to flood the facility. The commodes were loose from the floor. This place has NO maintenance. The owners apologized but did not offer to refund my $21 for my experience. DO NOT GO HERE!! Very BAD! - aliner man

For me this park is overnight only and I'm not likely to stay here again - I'll look for something better. It is mainly rusty old travel trailers used by construction workers. Some trailers were so decrepit there were weeds growing out of cracks in the roof and they were still being used. - Shadowberr
May 2018 - $29.00
Park has lots of amenities and nice staff, but it needs to be on a larger acreage; the pads are way too close together (our 2' sl) and the roads are not wide enough to allow parking and motorhome travel. On departure, we had to ask two residents to move their vehicles so we could get our motorhome through the narrow road. Very nice fenced dog run, clean bath facilities, nice water feature. Park's web site leads you to believe it's near a Wal-Mart and an easy access to I-20; don't believe everything you read. The Wal-Mart and restaurants are near the freeway exit, but the park is way down a very narrow winding road, so it's not easy access to I-20. Turning radius into and out of the park is very tight. WiFi exists, but signal is very weak and spotty. Only thing we could do is download email. Otherwise, we'd lose signal and have to reconnect. - Dobiedaddy

Sep 2018 - $29.00
This is a fine park for an overnight stay. It's easy access to I-20. The park itself is a mobile home park with a big parking lot for transient RVers. The RV section isn't much to look at, but the rest of the park is very nice, and it's pleasant to walk around. There is a dog walk area and plenty of space to walk your pets. The check-in procedure is a little unusual, you stop at a stop sign about 100 feet in front of the office and leave your rig on the road. Then, walk into the office and everything else is normal - the office attendants are friendly and helpful and will show you where to park your rig. The site numbering is a bit confusing, so, it's relatively easy to choose the wrong spot (someone was already sitting in the spot assigned to us). But it's easy enough to slide into another spot if that happens to you. Our site was level, but I saw some sites that were not very level. Water pressure was good and everything worked well for our stay here. Recommended for an overnight stop. - CampingWithPoodles
Sep 2018 - $29.00
Okay for one night. Cable TV requires a box from office but office was closed. Wi-fi only works in office. Pretty quiet despite being one mile off I-10. Complicated electronic keypad to use mens room or laundry. Site was very unlevel. - Breezy2011
Sep 2018 - $30.00
Don't be put off by the "mobile home" in the name. That part of the park is exceptionally well maintained, lots of mowed grass, clean and no junk about the place. A proper neighborhood. The gal at the office was very friendly, even told us if we liked another site better, just take it and call her (we did both). Ingress/egress are easy. The RV portion has little in the way of trees and no shade, but we are surrounded by trees, so there is plenty of green. This is a great place for a short stay. The RV portion, as another reviewer noted, is entirely asphalt, no grass. And yes, it has lots of patches and needs more. Same for the roads. But this is common with a great many RV parks (we've stayed at more than 350), and it is easily managed-don't drive so darn fast! There is grass across the street. The sites are indeed narrow, but sufficient to extend all our slides. They are also sufficiently long to keep the car attached to our 41' class A, contrary to what another reviewer stated. The RV sites are on a slope; it would be nice if they were more level. We were in the last row, sites 35-42, which is designated for 38'-plus RVs. Two other rows are for shorter RVs-tell them your length folks! We had a clear view for satellite, and cell service was good. The utilities are located perfectly, the water is 60psi (very good), and the electric was clean (but they do need to update their very old pedestals). I suspect the person who complained about utilities being at the rear of the coach was probably in one of their back-in sites against the curb. He may also have little experience; that is a very common situation with many older parks, many fairgrounds, and many others. This is a great place for an overnight or a short longer stay. It is not a resort, and doesn't bill itself as such. And the price is reasonable, made better by the Good Sam discount. - ragtop45
