This is a tiny RV park with a very nice and attentive owner. It was cold so we didn't hook up to sewer. The owner has heat tape on the water feed. There are clean showers that have incredibly hot showers! We tend to like these no frills small private campgrounds and this did not disappoint. We camped at Ballards Campground in a Motorhome.

Stayed 1 night passing thru, and made it a point to add two more nights on the return trip. This is a great place to get off the road, kick back and just relax. The park is well kept, very clean. An older park, nothing fancy. Not new and shiny, just a basic campground ideal for your fifth wheel or Class B or Class C motorhome. 30 and 50 amp service, potable water. Some sites with sewer, a Dump site on premise. Shower house on site. Owner is very friendly, helpful, a real delight! We camped at Ballards Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Lots of things to do in the area, George Washington Carver musuem, Precious Moments. Several good resturants/diners. 1/2 mile from I-44 and minutes to Joplin, Springfield, Branson just north. Owner will be happy to help you find plenty of activities if you want them. Dont trust your Google Maps, just take exit 18A, half mile to the Ballard Loop.

Despite a few dead bugs in the older bathroom I loved this place. There's absolutely noting to do but sit and read and enjoy the pretty pond, which we had a nice view of. It's quiet, which is what we were looking for in an overnight stop. It's a short distance off off the highway exit, but far enough to be quiet. (Don't believe your GPS that tells you to take a bunch of back roads!) We camped at Ballards Campground in a Travel Trailer.

We truly enjoy this campground, run by a woman, who seems to accomplish all the work herself. The sites and road are gravel, the site was almost level. There are restrooms and a laundry though we didn't use them. Sewer adds $2, so $25 for water electric and sewer. It's not as fancy as many places, but there is a pond, with benches and a little gazebo. WiFi available but like most places, not too good. We camped at Ballards Campground in a Travel Trailer.

First let me say we are"mid century" people. This is an older campground run by the owner. No fancy signs no glitz. What do you get? A serene properly maintained facility with level site and large trees, some probably 60 ft high. Even in October it was 80 degrees so shade was a must for us. Small gazebo and pond. Quiet. A terrific value. There are several newer more expensive campgrounds in town, right on the highway, we chose Ballards and are glad we did. Her store is filled w/an eclectic collection of stuff- some for sale- some not.

We decided to forgo the dinner already cooked to try a place in town. At owners recommendation chose Iggy's Diner- fantastic. Now there are many places to eat- chains- steak- etc. unless you specifically want that menu, try Iggy's. Its a classic burger and malt 1950's diner built in 1998. Food was excellent as was the service. Total cost for two dinners and a shake less than $20- but wait! There was so much food we took half back! The "side"portion of onion rings was enough for two. Just that added feature to our one night stay. We camped at Ballards Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Stayed here one night while traveling through. We had a nice shady spot that was level. The host was very nice and guided me right to our site. This was my second visit here and I'll stop again on future trips. We camped at Ballards Campground in a Motorhome.

I stayed in a full-hookup site. It was a pull-through, which accommodated my 38' M/H & pick-up truck toad. Lots of trees and grass areas. Very quiet with no traffic or train noise. Stayed 2 nights and would stay again. The $23 sites are water and electric only but they do have a dump station. Oh, the $25 I paid included taxes. We camped at Ballards Campground in a Motorhome.

Great place to rest and relax. We stopped in for an overnight on the road and will return again when passing through. Located near the highway and is a small husband & wife ran RV park. The site we stayed at was very well shaded and near the pond and gazebo and laundry and showers and bathroom floors are that being upgraded. Washers $1.25 and dryers are $1, there are two of each. The park is very quiet and the best nights rest we've had on the road in a while. We will return if we are in the area again. We camped at Ballards Campground in a Motorhome.

O.K. park not to far from freeway, not much noise. Roads and sites are gravel with shade trees. Sites are large enough for 37 foot RV and toad. Power, water, and cell (AT&T) good. We would stay here again. We camped at Ballards Campground in a Motorhome.

This was an overnight stop for us on a westward swing. After reviewing other campgrounds in the area, we would choose this campsite again. The sites were level and large. The campground manager took me to look at several sites first and then led us to the place. Yes, the sites are gravel, but so what; it drains well in the rain. There are lots of trees, so it may be difficult if you rely on satellite for TV, but we found enough over the air stations from nearby Joplin. WiFi was free, though a bit slow. We used the restrooms and showers and found them clean and comfortable. They had the water on a softener, so it was very soft. It was also a bit on the salty side for taste, but had no bad smell or flavor. Downsides are: some sites are a bit tight to get into, but that is not bad as there are plenty of trees for shade. Interstate road noise is there in the background, though a small hill between the campground and interstate help blunt some of the sound. Finally, be warned, the approach from the north comes at you quickly. There is no Large sign by the road. We went south and turned around in a large lot (warning sign--no turns, but we did anyway) and got back fine. The park looks a bit run down, but I think is a work still in progress. As stated earlier, given other options, we would stay here again. We camped at Ballards Campground in a Motorhome.

We pulled in after the office was closed and found a great site close to the restroom/showers. I was really surprised how much room each shower cubicle was. Everything was clean. There weren't many units there. The next morning when we were paying, I found out that wifi was available so I asked the lady if I could stay long enough to try and look up some relatives we were wanting to see in our travels. I had some difficulty trying to connect, so she went and looked them up for me. She was a big help. We will definitely go back when we are in the area. We camped at Ballards Campground in a Motorhome.
