Visiting family in the area so stayed here based on other reviews. Park had easy access of our MH + toad and had plenty of open spots as expected for this time of the year. Seemed to be in a good site upon arrival, but 40 hrs of non-stop rain left standing water at the bottom of our MH steps. Park was very busy during the 5 nights we spent there with lots of 1-2 day stop-overs for MHs and 5th wheels. Lots of pull-thru sites making it ideal for that. A little too cool and wet to enjoy the picnic table or bike riding. We camped at Big Red Barn RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Carthage is town of about 12-15,000 with plenty of restaurants and stores including Walmart and Lowes near CG. Joplin is about 20 minutes away. Close access to I-44 and I-49.

Overnight stop. Easy on and off from I-49. Sites gravel with paved streets; sites level. Paved area for picnic tables with small walkway to each. Good hookup; internet and cable worked well. We camped at Big Red Barn RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Park was clean and well maintained, flowers everywhere. Office staff was very friendly, and because I "paid attention" when the rules were being read I was rewarded with a package of two homemade chocolate chip cookies. I was encouraged to take a little toy soldier to remind me to pray for our troops. Love that! Park was quiet, roads were easy to maneuver in and out of, and site was ample length for our fifth wheel and truck. We will definitely stay here again. We camped at Big Red Barn RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We had a total of 5 rigs here with our group. The staff was excellent! Check in was smooth and efficient and all 5 rigs were parked in very little time. The campground is clean, well maintained and very nice. The trees while we were there were very colorful and gorgeous. Since we were a small group, we had access to the meeting room which we used. Sites were large and level. We had an outstanding time! We camped at Big Red Barn RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Very well maintained campground. Level lots and very well spaced and laid out! Easy on the eye with loads of "curb appeal"! Easy check in process. Nice to be led to your site! Always a plus! Laundry room is open 24 hours, so it was quite easy to do laundry after dinner! Clean and well maintained washers & dryers! Very quiet at night! Would definitely stay here again if in the area! Very nice campground. Made welcome in the office and guided to our spot by one of the camp hosts. Park like setting with crape myrtles and mature trees. Lots of room to walk your dog with dedicated "poop cans" and bags available. Dish satellite system worked well. We will make it part of our trips in the future. Our 1st campground on our maiden voyage in our new 5th wheel. Wish we could have stayed longer as this has been the best Park so far (at 4th Park now). Quiet, well laid out, big rig friendly, great wi-fi, and good cable. We will be back! We camped at Big Red Barn RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This campground, while close to the freeway is quiet and very "country" complete with many birds singing, and even the morning rooster to greet you. Sites were gravel, level, nice shade, and large open area to run the dog. Mostly short term visits it appears. We had a nice time visiting Carthage, as well as Joplin. Wifi and internet were fine, all services fine, without problems. We even were welcomed with cookies when we registered. We would stay here again on our way north or south. Easy access from I-49, however, only minimal road noise. Good gravel interior roads and sites; sites fairly roomy and level, with shade trees and grass between sites. Woman who checked us in was friendly and helpful, and escorted us to our site. Though minutes from Carthage, this park has a "country" feel; with plenty of room to walk my dogs. We would stay here again if in the area. We camped at Big Red Barn RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

The Courthouse on the square in Carthage is impressive - worth the short drive into town to see it. About a block off the square is a small Civil War museum, which tells the story of the Battle of Carthage. Very interesting, and operates on donations.

We only stayed one night but this is a campground that we would have liked to have stayed longer. It is clean and well maintained. When we checked in, we got two yummy cookies, still warm! The office store was well stocked. I peeked in the bathroom and it appeared clean and well maintained also. The sites are level and the the interior roads were easy to navigate. We camped at Big Red Barn RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice park with lots of grassy areas. Decent grass space between units. Wifi, cable TV. Verizon signal okay. No pool or spa. Very quiet with minimal highway noise. No planes or trains. No dog park but plenty of comfort stations. Trash bins throughout the park. Tight turns in and out at entrance but okay within the park itself. Lots of shade trees throughout the park. Nice older park that is well maintained. Very close to Joplin. Even though just off I-49, noise was not a problem. The park has nice grassy dividers between rows. We camped at Big Red Barn RV Park in a Motorhome.
