Very well maintained, clean, and attractive park. Friendly hosts and the park manager was helpful on hiking trail questions. Ranger and Hosts maintained periodic drive by presence. Sites had good space between and mostly near full day shade. Sites were paved, had good drainage and level. The bathhouse was a bit of a walk from first campground (CG) loop. Used it daily, it was clean. The showers had benches and curtains. On site laundry but did not use. Level, paved CG road good for children's bicycling but large hill on park so minimal distance bicycle riding (for the serious only). Excellent hiking trails were mapped and well blazed. Interesting geological terrain features. Trails varied in effort and offered scenic views and creek wading. Creek (shallow and clean moving water) on edge of CG, is easily accessible for wading. Small children's playground with medium sized grassy field for kites, playing catch, etc.. Would visit again. Stayed in 24 ft. travel trailer. - John and Anita

The Campground is really clean and well thought out. There is a creek that is perfect for swimming in. (I tried to fish but all there is are very small sun fish). I highly recommend hiking the trails, they are a little hilly though. - Mattman1222

This is a very nice State Park campground. Our site had electric but no water or sewer hookups. There was a dump station at the entrance of the Park.
While we stayed at the campground passing through, it is a good distance from the highway on somewhat narrow roads from certain directions. Still, it was worth the drive as it is a very pleasant campground and area.
Bathrooms were clean and there are spacious, individual rooms for the showers.
There was no wifi but we had 3G signal with Verizon.
We would not hesitate to stay here again. - Mountainseeker

As others have stated, this campground has two areas a couple of miles apart. One is designed for ATV vehicles since they have a great area for off-roading, and the other is for those with horses. I originally had crossed this park off of my list of possibilities since we don't have an ATV and we don't have horses, which I am allergic to. However, we found ourselves there when my plan to walk-in to another park close by failed when it was full. Lucky us! We ended up in a premium (to us) spot in the horse section that was in the woods, spacious, private, and all around beautiful. We arrived on a Saturday and most spots in that area of the campground were full, but come Sunday afternoon, we had the place to ourselves. There are plenty of trails here, but due to them being muddy, we didn't take advantage of them. We did drive by the ATV area, and if we had one, that would have been a blast. Overall, a very nice park with friendly rangers and staff. The only bummers were that this was not a Water hook-up (it was very close by to fill) and that the only dump station is located at the ATV campground so we had to drive a couple of miles to it. No big deal. - NovarroNomads

There are two campgrounds in this park, the campground for those with ATVs and a campground for those with horses. The ATV campground has more amenities with paved sites and 50 amps. Since we did not want the sound or feel of ATVs, we chose the equestrian campground, about 3 miles away, with 30 amp gravel sites and pit toilets. It is much heavier wooded with very large sites and lots of quiet and privacy. We loved our choice. We were a bit concerned in that there was really very little park personnel presence. There are not camp hosts. Also the dump station is only at the ATV campground and you must go there when you arrive to register. Still, we would stay at this much quieter campground again. There is not water at each sites but there are water spigots scattered throughout the campground for filling a tank. We had good Verizon data and voice. Because of the heavy tree cover, we had difficulty getting DirecTV, but were finally successful in finding a hole in the trees. Most sites would not have satellite access. It was nice and dark and quiet at night. - TheJim

We stayed on the horse campground side so there are community water spigots, vault toilets and 30 amp max only. But it is gorgeous and peaceful and private. Be careful picking a site near campers with horses (our neighbors had smelly ones and didn't compost cover their poop!) but such a cool campground. I'd be hard pressed to recall any more beautiful in late October. Definitely gave that deep woods camping feel. Nature at its best! For those looking for more amenities I hear the main campground is awesome but they are pretty much always booked up so reservations or early arrivals a must. - Katygee

We had a great time here at Big Creek. We were traveling with another couple in a motorhome and The staff was able to accomodate us in sites 121 and 122. One of us was able to pull in and the other backed in so our awnings faced each other and gave us a common area. We were here 4 nights. We got to visit the surrounding areas, participate in the rubber duck race at the campground (and won!), plus spend a day in the creek. The hosts are awesome and this is now our go to place when visiting this area. - wwebb58

From the moment I phoned to check reservations we felt like we were taken care of. The park was big, clean, well run and quiet! Wood available (for small fee) for nightly burning to complete the camping experience! - Chris_Ashlea

We camped here in a39 foot 5th wheel. Check in staff was friendly. We stayed in J5 at the very back of the park. Site was gravel and level. Would have been very close to neighbors, but had no one close to us. Big trees and shade. Was very easy on and off the freeway following their instructions. Bathrooms by the office were clean and had AC. Nice pool. No problem getting around the trees. Only concern is the interior roads. The park slopes downward towards the back of the park. Some washed out areas that need to be fixed. We were able to maneuver going slow. We would stay here again. - User2475
Jul 2018 - $39.00
They lost reservation but had spaces. Site was not level, jacks had 4 wheels off the ground. Many trees made getting into and out of space challenging. Also navigating internal roads were very tight. Check in person was civil, not much more. No TV over the air and too many trees for satellite. No problems with power, did not use water or sewer. GPS directions were off even using up to date Garmin maps. - Bufford

We did a late check-in and found they had double booked us. Found camp host and he took care of the extra booking. We were in 40ft motorhome with toad staying just one night passing through. Leaving in the morning was rather difficult, very tight. Almost had to unhook toad as we were inches from a parked car. Will not be coming back; too tight for me. - jammzb
