Rating: 9 10 5 10 9 Clean Restrooms: Clean Showers: Great place, sits in a convenient location near I-70 be the Arrowhead / Kaufman stadium. 10 minutes from downtown, 20 to the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art, Plaza shopping and Worlds of Fun. Owner was incredible. Hooked up my power, sewer and water. I stayed in the winter. It's a great spot for temporary workers. I was there 5 months, others were shorter and some longer. Lots of railroad workers. Very clean, easy to get in and out. The only downside is, there is no WiFi. I used my personal HotSpot, but ate through it fast. The spots are mixed in with mobile homes. It's very quiet, 55 and older only. Surrounded by trees, and well lit. I have s concrete slap that you back into and off street parking next to my Motorhome. Plus a small yard. - Artistkc
My wife called several places on a Saturday as I was driving down and this CG owner was the only one to call us back. I work all over the country and this place is PERFECT if you're just stopping by or for work. It's right off of 70 right by the football and baseball fields. I worked on the west side of the city and from where I was on the east it was only a 20 minute ride. The owner made sure the grass was mowed or snow plowed as I stayed 7 months. I called on him a few times and he'd check on my RV if I was home for the weekend and my neighbors were good as well as this is a nice quiet place to stay. Shopping is very close as well. Autumn Falls is a place I highly recommend. Plus after I got here I still checked on other prices and found that no one could beat his price. So check it out for yourself you won't be unhappy. - Steele1

There are about 40 sites, most of which are used by mobile homes, but a few vacant spaces spread through out the park are used to park RV's. There are no amenities at all; you get a concrete pad between two mobile homes with utilities to park your rig. So if that's all you need, this isn't a bad place to stay. Our TT is 30 AMP but the power box was only 50 AMP so we needed an adaptor. It's only 7 blocks from the KC Royals and Saints stadiums, so it's perfect for sports enthusiasts. But, it's also right along Highway 40, which is very busy from 7AM until dark, then it quiets down a bit. However, I must say that the owner keeps the park in amazing condition. It was very clean, the grass was cut, and there was no junk lying around. He definitely went to the head of the customer service class; I wish more in his position would be just like him. - Love To Travel 2

Was originally scheduled for several days, but had to change plans due to weather..they allowed me to have a credit for time not stayed..did have some issues with getting out of park in the a.m., as they had not plowed the snow..they are not open on weekends in the winter! WiFi kept cutting off, which was a bit frustrating.. - NFRS

Rating: 4 9 9 9 10 Clean Restrooms: Clean Showers: Big rigs should avoid this campground. Sites are small. Internal road is extremely narrow and are one way only. All back-in sites must be entered from the driver's blind side. In the one site that supposedly fits a big rig (but it really doesn't), the tree is low and almost damaged our rig. No cable or wifi. The only exit is also the dump. If two rigs are dumping everyone must wait for them to finish before they can leave. It was a horrible experience and we definitely will not stay here again. - DrM Traveler
Large gravel site. Easy to level our trailer. Although the park is close to major roads and shops it is quiet and the loop we were in was very quiet and had a rural feel. A lot of sites have good space between them but be aware that the sites on the plan that look close together e.g. 12 &13, 7 & 8, are all one gravel area. More like a family site. - Kiwijo

Very quiet location even with the easy freeway access. Had to level the coach to the slope of the site but not excessive. Very few people at the campground which appeared to be very well maintained. - tfemaker

We often stay at the various Jackson County Parks. Longview and Blue Springs are our favorites. The County does an excellent job caring for parks, providing security services, and general upkeep and maintenance. Most sites will need some leveling (gravel/pea stone). Roads just paved again. Although close to city, very secluded and quiet... do reserve early through the Jackson Co. Parks web site. Tent sites don't always offer much for level, but my rating is for an RV experience. All facilities are in great repair and sites are comfortably separated and well defined. All the roads have been paved. Large grass areas. My biggest complaint is that hardly any of the FHU sites are level. There were several MHs with wheels off of the ground. The W/E sites are better but not by much. There is no WiFi, but a lot of tv channels. Would only stay again, could get a more level site. - newbies2016

County campground on outskirts of kc, near lake but not within walking distance. Sites are large and well spaced, most with some shade. My GPS found it but some won't, use google maps. Can't make same day reservations, go on Web site to register. We showed without reservation and got full service site on a Thursday but park was 3/4 full. Stayed one night and wouldn't come back. Site 27 is full hook-up, but not approaching level. It had rained and mud had washed down the hill and covered the gravel. I can see how locals who are familiar would be able to reserve one of the nicer sites, but reserving one site is really pot luck. I had asked when I made a reservation and was assured it was a "very nice spot" - mroswell

The park is adjacent to the water park and amusement park. The sites are fully paved, long and each has a picnic table. The park has a nice pool area next to the check in buildings. That building also has the bathrooms, showers and laundry. The wifi was strong and reliable. This park was above and beyond as far as price versus amenities. - Gary Gilliam
A really well put together campground with wide paved streets and long paved sites. Nicely manicured lawns. Everything worked as designed. There is construction on the road at the entrance and it took a while to turn into the park but it was virtually impossible to leave without driving over curbs and getting traffic to stop. I think it was at least 15 minutes to get out of the park. Once the construction is finished, I would have no problem returning, but not before. - Kbob

The park is kept clean and each site has a trash can. The wifi was excellent, and we had no problems, at all, with getting connected and staying connected. OTA and satellite TV were good. They have cable TV, but we didn't use it. There is some road noise from I-435, mainly from speeding motorcycles and semis using their Jake brakes. There is also noise from the amusement park's roller coasters, but the amusement closes at about 10 PM. There is construction on Parvin Rd and I-435, which can make it tricky getting into park. - Bbtj

Traveling in a 38 foot coach we stayed 3 nights in a site for big rigs. If you plan to visit Kansas City there really is not any place closer than Walnut Grove RV Park. If you look at the convenience of staying close to the city then you can overlook the sites that are close together, and the fact that everything is gravel. The office gal was supper nice and friendly. Price is a little high but being that close to Kansas City you need to except. - JDC10

Walnut Grove wasn't our first choice but our first choice was booked. Johnson Road, leading to the park off I-35 is currently under construction. Turning in to the campground was a little tight but manageable with a 30 foot trailer. Office/store is clean and organized and is stocked with basic essentials and snacks. Asked for a satellite friendly site and was told we should be fine putting our antenna out in front of our trailer. Interior roads are paved but could use some rehab. Our site was wide enough for both our trailer and tow vehicle, side-by-side. You don't find that often so that was nice. Utilities were well positioned and our site was mostly level and gravel/dirt. Water pressure was high so be sure to use a reducer/regulator. We were given a site 111 which is about half way down the west lane. Noticed that most of the units further down the lane were "Permanent" campers. Most units could have used some TLC. Set our month old auto-find tailgater out and went through the process to lock in the satellites. Could get a lock. After a couple hours trying and talking with Dish, we gave up. At least 5 others around looked to have satellite service. Called the office and was told that they hadn't had any complaints about the issue previously. That was about the time the permanent campers started coming in from work. One came home, turned on their radio and left their door open. By this point we had decided to cancel the rest of our stay. Went to the office and they kindly canceled the rest of our stay and gave us a refund for our unused nights. We did notice some traffic noise and sirens throughout the night as well. In short, the staff was super nice and professional but the campground itself was not what we expected. - Codys Family

Site was beyond small, two tiered sloping site with RV and tow vehicle on upper level and all utilities (Full Hook Up) on adjacent lot. Two truck tires surrounded water pipe. Property needs sound barriers. NOTHING masks the sound of trucks, ambulances, or busses barreling down the highway. Don't count on any WIFI. Don't waste your time trying to hook up. The office/store are was a disaster. Nothing for sale. Empty shelves. The only pleasant thing about the place was the woman who checked us in. - Cammy Per
As noted, an older park that needs some upgrades. We specifically told them we needed satellite, but didn't have any chance of getting a signal. No cable, but antenna picked up a good number of the free channels like Metv, AntennaTv and local networks. Laundry small but clean. Several machines out of order. Our site had a pond in the street next to us due to heavy rain. Lots of mud. A nice park across the road to walk the dog, and a RV center next door which is convenient for parts or supplies. - fulltimerjan

It is in need of a good up grade through out the park. Most sites are in need of a lot of gravel. Our site was muddy from rain last night. But our neighbors were quite friendly and helpful. We had no reservation, just drove in, and there were sites available. There was no staff on duty in the late afternoon, so we did the self-register. The neighbor shared the password for the wifi. Our electric box did not supply 30 Amp, but it did work with the 15-amp adapter, and we were only staying the one night. I would be willing to stay again for the convenience. And they are in the process of building a new bathhouse. - TexPaul
Campground is full of permanent residents in small, old run down campers, however the two on either side of us were very pleasant people. When we first rolled in I thought OMG are we going to be stabbed? Sites are extremely small with uneven dirt and rock surface. We never did get our RV completely level. Husband had to use extension to reach sewer. $29.95 with no discount is an outrageous amount to pay for a dump like this! Sites were so small there wasn't room to put our satellite dish out and if we would have put our awning out it may have hit the camper next to us. I would not recommend this park. As for views....there is a junkyard across the street with trees growing up through broken down tractors and rusty road equipment. - MaryIrish

To get there, you have to head for the Lowe's store, then turn left and go around the store to the back, to a driveway leading past a building with a construction office in it. Behind the construction office is the entrance to the campground. We almost thought it was just a house driveway, but it led to the campground. The place was almost or entirely full when we got there, but we had called ahead to reserve a spot. RVs were parked pretty close together. We were in a area for smaller RVs, but next to us was a big fifth wheel with the truck parked next to it. The rest rooms were old, but adequate, and were in the office building at the entrance to the park. The site was a back-in or pull-in site, was level, and had full connections. - vroecker
