We stayed just one night while passing through Missouri. Best part was the value. The weather was very hot and humid, so we needed electric to run the AC. The price was right for both AC and water. The campground was filling up fast, so we grabbed the first available site we came to. The power pedestal was a long way from the site pad, so we were lucky to have an electric extension cord. Without the extension cord, the electric service would have been useless in that site. It was the same situation with water, so we didn't even bother. The road through the electric section is rather narrow, so backing into our site was moderately challenging. It was also very unlevel, but it was so hot and humid, we just wanted to get plugged in and turn the AC on. The basic (non-electric) section seemed more spacious and level. The electric loop was much tighter, with sites on both the inside and outside of the loop. Google Maps will direct you through a highway rest area behind the truck parking, and through a gate. Viewing the street view of the road, we saw that the gate was closed, so we rerouted ourselves. The gate was in fact open, so we were able to leave through the truck parking with no problem, but it isn't clear why the gate is even there or who controls whether it is locked or open. - Libre RV

It'd been about 15 years since I last camped at this park. I'd always stayed in the "basic" loop since the VW Westfalia didn't have hookups, but this time we camped in the RV / Electric site loop area up the hill. It was horrendously hot that weekend (105F) and there were only 2 other RV's in the loop, and a couple of poor souls tent camping in the Basic area. The park was clean, quiet, and no host was seen all weekend. I didn't use, but investigated the bathroom and showers. They were in pretty run-down shape but usable. There's also coin-op washer & dryer available. I also noticed that many of the electric sites are pretty severely off-bubble. We had one of the more flatter sites and still had to use several blocks to level out. Some of them looked so bad that you might have a hard time getting level even with jacks. The park has a boat launch and the cave is NOT open for tours. Not a lot of attractions at this park. I suppose it's just a cheaper alternative to the 2 RV parks closer to the highway on the same exit. - VW_Vista

Pretty park. Restrooms were old and not too clean. Lots of trees around the site. OK for an overnight stop. - living large

Management very friendly. Park was spacious, although campsites were cramped (no room for awning). Reservation records appear to be manual. Nice, spacious dog park and paths to walk animals (we have a cat that is leash trained). Nice, clean laundry with all machines working. - Cajun Nana

Based on the reviews on this site, we had decided to stay at another campground around 2 miles down the road from Kan-Do. However, as we could not find anyone there, we drove back to Kan-Do, which is right next to the interstate.
Kan-Do is a very large campground with spacious sites. There are full hookups or only electricity and water, but all the hookups we saw were dated, and our waterspout did not work. Luckily, most sites were vacant and we were able to go to a different site. Some waterspouts are shared between two sites, which means you must have a long hose if you happen to be on the wrong side of the spout. Most sites have picnic benches and although ours did not, we "borrowed" one from another site which was vacant. Our site was fairly level but we saw quite a few sites that were not level. There is a fairly large children's playground but unfortunately most of the equipment was in a bad state of repair. The pool was shut but we were told it would open in May. The bathrooms are quite a long walk if you are on the far end of the campground. There are also quite a few long term residents. The Wifi was excellent, although this may be because so few campers were there to use it. - hmcity

We stayed here as an overnight when nothing else could be found. Should have kept driving. Lady owner is very nice and folksy. Roads are dirt with a little gravel. We had a pull-through site and the motorhome was able to level. Water was accessed by pulling two hoses together and across to right side of the coach. Wires were hanging out of the conduit, no 50 amp breaker, just slap it in as quick as possible and hope for no arc. It was dependable with 122 volts on L-1 and 123 on L-2. Wiring worked but was scary looking. Lot of dust every where. One thing that can be said positive was a nice new looking pool with a lot of people swimming. Hookups were at the rear of the pull-through site. It would have taken at least 30 feet of sewer hose to reach the dump. - Ole Jake

We stayed one night at Lazy Day Campground on our way west and happy we did. The new owners (since 2018) were friendly and have done an amazing job with this CG. All the inner roads and sites are stone and look fresh. The utilities all worked well and in a good locations. Our pull thru even had two sewer connections. They had a great club house for groups, the Laundry and bathrooms were fantastic and a walking path down to a pond in the woods. The new owners take a lot of pride in their campground and it shows. This is one of the nicest campgrounds we have stayed at and at a very reasonable nightly rate. We liked it so much as a place to just relax we made a 3 night reservation on our return trip through the area in early July. If you are in the area you need to stay at Lazy Day Campground. - Russ G

First impression.... astounding! Campground is located on a beautifully landscaped wooded hillside yet the sights are exceptionally level and spacious. Hookups are well maintained and in "very" good working order. Lanes and sights are of well maintained, packed aggregate so no need to worry about dust, mud or getting stuck. Landscaping and decorative touches throughout the park are tastefully done. Ever hear about it being so quiet, you could hear a pin drop? Well this is the place. The hospitality is second to none. For more about this charming campground check out their web sight. The only downfall is... we couldn't stay longer but we certainly would, stay again. - Griswolds on Vacation

I called this place while on the road and trying to figure out a place to pull over for the night. Received a call back soon after and had a fantastic conversation with the owner who set me up with the first site at the entrance since I was coming in late and would be least likely to cause a disturbance. It was perfect. Right next to the restrooms/showers which were spectacularly clean, amusingly decorated, and spacious. I'm not sure I would plan an extended stay there unless I'm visiting the area but it is a place I will keep on my top list of stopovers when heading west or heading back home. Though I was just there the night, I did sign the wall that they invite visitors to do! Sign the wall! Glad I renewed my Good Sam membership on the way too! - Dog hair stuck in the couch

My husband and I were having issues with our alternator so we had to stop. This was the closest campground to us. If you have ever seen the movie Deliverance, this is the feeling and atmosphere at this park. Old RV's, broken down trucks, pond full of scum. The playground had broken equipment and it was all very old. The site for the camper was level and the pool was fairly clean but these were the only good things about this campground. The showers and bathrooms were old and smelled horrible. There were some shady looking folks hanging around that really gave me the creeps. We charged our batteries and left after 2 hrs. The man who checked us in saw us leaving and just turned his head. There were only 3 other campers there and 2 of them belonged to the owner's family. Really creepy place! - Ordoqui

Very nice couple owns it. Very level lot I was in. Very shady which is great in summer. Made you feel like you were really camping in the woods-loved it. Has a fishing pond and a fenced playground area for kids. He has goats, chickens and geese on the property. Really fresh eggs for breakfast. Country setting, close to freeway-noise not to bad. Very nice older campground. I broke down on freeway and was towed here. I'm glad I was. I will definitely be back. You ought to check it out. - Susan from KCMO

Prior reviews of this park amuse me. It is either rated very high or 1/2 star! Different strokes for different folks. Once we were in our site, it was very level and not bad. We were only here for one night. This is really a nice place however, you do have to over look the junk, semi truck trailers, old campers, etc., but it isn't the worse place we have stayed. You couldn't ask for nicer owners and I felt for them, but this place needs a good going over. Just removal of a few things would even help. And what is with the word Gardens in the park name? Sure weren't any there. - Let'sGo!

To start on a positive note, the woman who runs the office was very nice and helpful. Also, my husband used the bathhouse facilities and said they were good and clean. It is a private lot-owners property, but has a few camping spots. We discovered it online via our Passport America membership, so the $13 price was good. However, getting to and from this property with a motor coach is very difficult. Rough, narrow and windy roads. The sites are unlevel and the grounds are in in need of maintenance. We drove through the section for lot-owners and were shocked at how very run-down it is. Very old units set up, deteriorating and the whole area is junky. We were not given a list of campground rules and it's obviously because they have no rules or standards. The gates are locked and we were not given codes to go or come, which is a uncomfortable. Lastly, there is absolutely NO cell phone data coverage or signal. I hate to write a bad review, but I recommend avoiding this place. - Debbie12376

We stayed here on PA. The dustiest, dirtiest, and furthest from civilization! Never saw the pool they claimed or the internet! Never would stay here again. - dd2some
