Overall Rating:

Our site was a back-in, 30-amp electric only, although there was a shared spigot nearby. However, they shut the water off Nov. 1 and shut down the bath house that has the showers, leaving a pit toilet available. The park was beautiful when we arrived, with trees of bright gold and some red foliage. After a windy, rainy day that changed a bit, with not too many leaves left on the trees! Convenient location to Leavenworth, KS, which is across the river. The campground is quiet and secluded, and other parts of the park have access to the river and other activities. It was crowded in other sections, it seems to be a really popular place for photo shoots in the fall - and for good reason. We camped at Weston Bend State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Lots of hiking in the park, with some trails ok for bicycling. The little town of Weston is close and worth a visit to see the historic downtown if you like that sort of thing.

Overall Rating:

Very nice state park campground. No water or sewer (potable water and dump station available at entrance), but did have electric 50/30/20 hookups. Nice views of river and nice hikes. Park is located in nice river hills area. Nice restaurants and brewery in nearby Weston, MO. Some sites appeared less than level. 50 amp sites were in a separate section. Helpful camp host. We camped at Weston Bend State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Stayed at Weston Bend with friends during a VW show weekend in the town of Weston. In previous years, we have been able to double-up on camping spots, with at least 2 small Volkswagen buses / Wesfalias per site. A much smaller footprint than even a modest trailer and tow vehicle. This year however, we were told that the previous rules of "2 camping units per site" had been modified to "2 camping units", *only 1 of which can be wheeled*" The campground host let it slide since this was a rule change not published on the MO state parks site, but left it for a park ranger to decide if they came by. Lucky, we never saw a ranger in the park or at the entrance station the whole weekend. Park seemed clean and well-kept. Campground host was friendly and helpful with firewood and naturalist activities in the evening. We probably won't be back however, since only one small VW per site to spread out over this very small park seems very wasteful - both financially and of resources. Since we were in a Class C - we had to wait to dump for about 40 minutes leaving the park.. and campers had the road blocked to get out otherwise we'd have left to just dump at one of the Camping World's on the way home. We camped at Weston Bend State Park in a Motorhome.

Spacious, shady sites but a little run down. Many trees and very hilly. The black top was pretty chewed up. Nice trails with history of the area. The was a small laundry area, but I didn't use it. No water hook-up but there was electricity and several TV channels as it is not far from Kansas City. We camped at Weston Bend State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Spent 2 weeknights. Quiet. Showers and restrooms clean and everything worked. Site was a bit muddy after recent rains but dried quickly, (cement under mud) Lots of bugs so bring Off, Cutter or some such spray. Would stay again. We camped at Weston Bend State Park in a Motorhome.

Very nice campground. Some sites have no electricity, others have either 30 amp or 50 amp service. Campsites do not have water or sewage hookups. Dump station and freshwater fill located beyond entrance gate but before entering camping area. Each site has fairly new fire rings and grill grates over the fire rings. Nicely wooded and campsites are somewhat secluded from one another except for family campsites. We camped at Weston Bend State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Weston is a nice town with antique & craft stores. Dollar General is on Highway 45 going toward Weston. About 10 miles from Leavenworth, Kansas. Some noise from Highway 45, KCI Airport jet noise & train noise. Campground road is asphalt paved with some hills & valleys. Walking/hiking trails will take you to the river & there individual fenced dog excersise areas by the entrance.

This is a wonderful park with electric only. If you need 50 amp be sure and reserve a premium site. Dump is located at enterance and water spigots are scattered around loop. Site was level and partially shaded. Good antenna pick up. Verizon data and phone worked well. Some of the longer sites are fairly close to a second site. Huge fenced dog park is located as you drive in main enterance but best to drive. We camped at Weston Bend State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

The village of Weston has good restaurants and cute shops. There is a bakery and creamery. Most are closed on Monday and Tuesday. The Holladay Distillery has an interesting tour. Leavenworth KS is a 10 drive. St. Joseph has great museum and history and is 30 minute drive.

This Missouri State Park is along the Missouri River, but the River is not really a feature of the campground. It is wooded, with most sites well separated, in a loop configuration. Some sites, primarily those on the backside of the loop, have more privacy because of better separation and more vegetation between sites. The sites have electrical, some with 50 amp. We had strong 50 amp service. There is potable water, with the easiest to access to fill a tank, at the dump station. Most sites are fairly level with nicely packed gravel. The campground is fairly quiet, with only background road noise. The Sunday that we were there, there was a lot of drive-through traffic which was a bit annoying but not a big deal. There are security gates that are closed between 10 pm and 7 am, a nice security feature. There is a campground host who was not overly friendly, but was efficient and got the job done. We did not use the restrooms, but did use the available pay laundry with one washer and one dryer, a very nice touch. We were able to find a hole through the trees for our satellite dish and we had very strong Verizon data and voice. The park is wonderfully conveniently located for visiting the Kansas City area. We would certainly stay here again. We camped at Weston Bend State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The many attractions and restaurants are about 45 minutes away. Good choices there are the World War I museum and the Nelson Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. Located just next to the park, the town of Weston has some interesting restaurants and a couple of wineries. Do check out the newly opened (to the public) Holladay Distillery. The tour, at $10 per person, is definitely worthwhile. Get to the Hearth Bakery early as they sell out of some things before eight in the Morning.

Like many state parks, this one offers a high degree of privacy in a maturely shaded site. While it is missing some of the niceties of a commercial park with water and sewer connections, it more than makes up in ambience and beauty. There are some water spigots located in the camping area and if you have a sufficiently long hose connecting is easy. There is a dump station near the park entrance and it is convenient to use as you depart the park area. This park is about 30 minutes north of Kansas City so access to the city is easy. The airport is near by, but not so near that you hear planes. The quiet is one of the best features of this park. We will use it again while visiting family in the KC area. We camped at Weston Bend State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is our second stay at this park. We were here 5 years ago, and our experience this time was just as positive as the last. The sites are very well laid out and our site (#21) was very private. The grounds are very well kept, and the power is very stable. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Weston Bend State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice place but only electric hookups. Water is available throughout the park, but not at site unless just happen to be close enough to the site. No sewer at sites, but dump station at entrance. Paved sites, nice and large, most under large shade trees. A very nice place, we will be back. We camped at Weston Bend State Park in a Motorhome.

We overnighted here and really liked this park. Very nice, large, level, paved sites with good separation and shade. This park reinforced why we love state and NFS parks. Most sites are electric only. Only a few miles off the interstate. The restrooms, sites, roads, and pads were in excellent condition. We and would definitely stay here again. We even fit in a 10 mile bicycle ride along the Missouri on the parks trail. We camped at Weston Bend State Park in a Motorhome.

Nice wide sites, some with shade, quiet and peaceful. Bike trail in the park. Shower and ladies restroom needed a serious cleaning, and any water conservation is made moot by waiting for the hot water to arrive. Only one washer and dryer and the dryer did not dry my load, even on high. Still, a nice quiet rest stop away from the interstate and on the Louis and Clark trail. We camped at Weston Bend State Park in a Travel Trailer.

We've been here several times, and this one was not a disappointment. Weston Bend is always clean and well-kept. Even though near capacity for the weekend, it was quiet and enjoyable. The paved trail is great when the others are too wet to hike. The host was friendly and seemed to stay on top of everything. Our site (8) was level, but lacked afternoon shade. We enjoyed touring nearby Weston with friends. We will definitely come back! We camped at Weston Bend State Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed 2 nights at campsite 4. This campsite was quite secluded, and it seemed that most other sites were also well spaced out. The campsite host was very friendly, and came by to make sure everything was OK. Site was very level and paved. The state park is fairly small, and besides numerous trails, there is little to do in the way of activities. This campground is a great place for a stop over or for a quiet weekend get-away.
