The campground was in primitive status as of Sept 14. Sites are snug, though level, for a 33 foot motorhome with slides but we made it work. 6 hours of generator time daily. Great access to the park. Saw a black bear at the campground. Dump station closed. No water available. Quiet. Roads easy to navigate. We camped at St. Mary Campground (NPS Campground) in a Motorhome.

We were looking for a CG near Glacier National Park where we could stop for 1 night and have cell coverage. We're self-contained and don't use the facilities. We stayed 1 week night in late September in our 25 foot MH. This is a very nice CG. It was in 'primitive' mode and price during our stay - only sites in C loop were open with no water, no dump, no rest rooms. The sites are arrayed around a large circle. All are smaller pull through's. About 2/3 are in trees with shade and a bit of privacy while 1/3 are on a hill in the open with full sun and views. Most sites are gravel and need some leveling. We selected site 106. It wasn't the most private, however, had full sun for solar and a beautiful view. It was quite cold (30's in the am) - we prioritized solar over privacy. There was a good Verizon cell signal and no ATT signal. We arrived at lunchtime and had no difficulty finding a site. The CG was half full in the evening. We camped at St. Mary Campground (NPS Campground) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:
The CG is walking distance from the St Mary Visitor Center via walking path. Note that at times of heavy bear activity, rangers suggest driving to the Visitor Center. (We were welcomed to the CG by a black bear.) The Logan Shuttle stops nearby. There are services available in St Mary, 1 mi from camp.

Spent two nights in space C104 in a 26' MH. Site was pretty level and had no hookups. It was a tight fit for us, but we were able to get our slide out. No cell service in CG, but there was Wi-Fi available at the Visitor center - a 10 minute walk. Great view of the Mountains, and we were able to get our Satelitte Dish working fine (no OTA). There were reasonable Generator hours and we were also able get our portable solar panel fired up for most of each day. There is a nice Shuttle Bus service available at Visitor Center that got us to/from all the hikes we could handle. Showers were nice, but crowded in the evenings. We camped at St. Mary Campground (NPS Campground) in a Motorhome.

I gave this campground an 8 for a few reason: Pros-#1--close to the St. Mary's visitor's center and the shuttle service #2-beautiful scenery and a chance to see wildlife #3 we had cell phone reception at this campground, because the campground was close to the town of St. Mary's #4-within walking distance to St. Mary's, in case you needed anything #5-very clean campground with friendly rangers Cons- only have two showers for all three loops of St. Mary's??? We had an rv, but there were a lot of campers, who needed to shower. And, about the park in general-again, too many people for the shuttle service. The schedule says shuttles run every thirty minutes-they don't. BUT, if you try to drive, well, the parking lots often fill up, and then, they are closed, so people can't get into the section of the park they want. And, without a car, it is virtually impossible to get to Many Glaciers. Now, don't get me wrong- a great park to visit, with gorgeous scenery. Very helpful rangers and very clean parks. We camped at St. Mary Campground (NPS Campground) in a Motorhome.

This CG has beautiful views of the mountains! Seems like you are RIGHT there. Lots of wildlife. A coyote and a deer wandered through our campsite. Many people saw foxes. No utilities but water is convenient. Good generator hours. Showers are clean but some of them don't have hot water. Interesting campfire programs at nights. Friendly staff. If you get here too early in June the Going to the Sun Road might not be plowed. You may only be able to drive part of it. The boat ride in ST. Mary Lake is really pretty. We camped at St. Mary Campground (NPS Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

Stayed at St. Mary's the last week of September, very close to the closing of the park for the season. Only one loop was open for use.. all primitive. No power, no water, no sewer. Hopefully your house batteries are up to the task before staying here! Ours barely made it through the night.. whoops! As little activity there was going on, I was surprised that it eventually did fill up that night. Sites in our loop were all pull-through and of varying level-ness. Many are pretty tight and you would not make it in a bigger rig. We're 21' and a few inches long, and about 10'5" high and even then a few of the sites would not have worked due to tree growth. Someone WAS running a generator, but could not hear it from our site. Paid at the info pavilion where envelopes you drop into a steel tube are provided. A ranger made rounds about at dusk checking in on everyone. Very dark at night but stargazing was obstructed by smoke from the Sprague fire that year. Still managed to capture some faint Aurora Borealis on my time-lapse GoPro though. We camped at St. Mary Campground (NPS Campground) in a Motorhome.

Lucky to get an opening because tent campers are no longer allowed due to bear activity. Nice setting close to the entrance of the park. Unlevel sites but good privacy. Generators are confined to one loop so others can go without the noise and fumes. We liked that policy and the quietness. We'll be back. We camped at St. Mary Campground (NPS Campground) in a Truck Camper.

August 18,19 St. Mary Campground, St. Mary, Glacier National Park, East entrance, no hookups, reservations, showers, bathhouse, dump station, 156 sites, $14 with Golden Age Pass, Site 155 This is the largest campground just to the right when you enter the east side of Glacier National Park and is open all year with reservations during the summer months. There are three loops A, B, C. We were in Loop C near the showers and interpretive night programs. There is a half mile trail that leads back to the Visitor Center where information, films, exhibits and the shuttles for the Going To The Sun Road leave. Some sites have Aspen Trees for shade while others are open to the sun. Loop A is generator free but the road through it is rocky. There are views of the mountains from most sites. The town of St. Mary's is just past the entrance to the park with a lodge, restaurants, shopping, gift shop, and gas . St. Mary's Lake is not far from the campground but the views driving up to Logan Pass are stunning. You pass mountains, lakes, waterfalls, Rising Sun area and a number of pullouts for hiking and picnicking. Good stop! We camped at St. Mary Campground (NPS Campground) in a Motorhome.

Great proximity to good hiking trails on the east side of the park. Fresh water and dump station are available. Showers are free. Currently a ban on camp fires or charcoal grills, propane is fine. The park is heavily utilized and I recommend the free park shuttle as parking fills up very early. We camped at St. Mary Campground (NPS Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

A nice NPS campground, no hook ups but that is the norm. Potable water and dump station on site. Showers are located in C loop. Sites are small I saw a couple of 32 footers in here. Fire ban in effect. No charcoal grills either. Good Verizon wireless connection. We camped at St. Mary Campground (NPS Campground) in a Fifth Wheel.

St Mary Campground is just beyond the St Mary visitors center on the east end of Going to the Sun road. There are 3 loops. Loop C has 4 private unisex hot showers which are spacious and push button. (One was closed during our stay and the water will be shut off September 19th). Showerheads are at a good height, even for folks over 6'! The pull through sites vary GREATLY in levelness so choose carefully. Generation hours are 8 am to 10 am, a midday time and 5 pm to 7 pm. (We were out exploring midday so didn't pay attention to the time). Most of the sites are right by the loop road and many campers head out near sunrise. This is a VERY busy campground and fills up most weekends. The website provides good information on what time the campgrounds fill up. Loop C is very open, Loop A and B are much shadier. We camped at St. Mary Campground (NPS Campground) in a Motorhome.

Wonderful campground - just wish they had electric hookups. Most campsites are surrounded by bushes and small trees so there is quite a bit of privacy between sites. All campsites are pull-thrus so if you are in an RV and want your patio door to face your site rather than the road then choose a site on the outside of the loop. Berries were ripe while we were there so there were bears coming into the campground. Nice location for day trips to Many Glacier and Two Medicine. Verizon phone and Mifi worked well.
