Easy to get in and out. Helpful staff when it came to figuring out site hookups. Site utility setups are not consistent in placement including which side of the site. There is confusion by almost everyone that comes in and tries to find their site. Interior road is gravel and sites are basically what I call open unimproved field. The restroom is ok but the men's showers are nothing I would go near unless I had too. Wifi only at the office and it was useless but Verizon was fast. Water pressure was often very low as it cycled with well pressure. We had a site, C10, that was supposed to be a back-in but we used as a pull-thru so the hookups would work. This is a convenient location to the east Glacier NP entrances. Come with food because shopping is very limited. The IGA in Browning was good but is 30 miles away. We camped at Chewing Black Bones Campground in a Truck Camper.

I will certainly say that they were accommodating. When someone we were traveling with decided to make a big stink about the grass not being mowed on the site they had paid for, they offered to move us anywhere they chose and had two guys out there mowing the area within about 20 minutes! The gal in the office was very sweet and did a great job dealing with it all. I sure wish I could say nice things about their bathrooms and showers but they were honestly disgusting. Like really bad. The sites were so HUGE though and I thought the area was quite lovely. I mean, nothing like inside the park, but the park was completely full...on a Tuesday! We were very thankful for the person who suggested we try it out. We camped at Chewing Black Bones Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Get to Glacier by 7am if you’re hoping to snag a spot without reservations during the busy season. Otherwise, we are told that this place never fills up completely.

Overall Rating:

Large park on the banks of Lower Saint Mary Lake with sites ranging from full hookups in the open sun to partial or no hookups in the shade and along the banks of the Lake. This was our second time staying here, the first two years ago when nothing else was available in this great area of Glacier NP. Staff is good, maintenance overall is a bit rough but you just can't beat the location. You can choose between full hookup sites in the middle of the campground, partial hookup sites that are high bank to the lake or no hookup sites right on the lake. Lakeside sites are considered premium with a price bump. Large dump station available for the sites that do not have full hookups however the tank was overflowing when we left after a busy weekend. You can rent canoes, kayaks, bikes or a large teepee to spend the night in. We camped at Chewing Black Bones Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

launch your canoe or boat on the lake, fish from shore or just relax. Great location allows you easy access to Saint Mary's and the Going to the Sun Road, Swift Current Lake and Many Glacier area or an easy day drive over Chief Pass into Canada. Just down the road is Two Sisters Cafe with great food at pretty reasonable prices considering where you are or go the other way to the Cattle Baron Supper Club in Babb and get one of the best steak dinners anywhere.
