4 RV Parks near Chadron, Nebraska
Oct 2017 - $3.00
We were looking for a place to stay in or near Nebraska National Forest/Chadron State Park that would be convenient to hiking trails. We're self contained and don't use facilities. We stayed on weeknights in mid-October in our 25 foot MH. This is a very nice primitive campground, conveniently located for hiking, and a great price at $5/$2.50 seniors. There are 12 sites off a dirt road. One or 2 others were occupied during our stay. Most sites are back ins-that need some leveling. There's one pull through and at least 2 pull-overs. The length of the parking areas vary, yet most sites are good sized. Most are shady, most are relatively private. There is trash service and toilets. There's no water. There's no WiFi. There's weak reliable Verizon and strong intermittent ATT cell coverage. The CG is close to US-385 with some road noise. For more CG services, consider Chadron SP CG. - dsvt

My disclaimer is that I retired from the Forest Service and have a fondness for FS campgrounds. That considered, I liked the Red Cloud campground, because 1) it is a good place for tent campers and folks with small trailers, popups, etc. 2) it is not a good place for four thousand pound monsters with smelly sewage hookups. You can see my prejudice.
Mostly it was very pretty, quiet, and cheap. I have a Golden age pass, or senior discount pass as it is now called. That reduced the cost to $2.50. There would have to be major things wrong with a campground to complain at that cost.
I needed a place for an overnight stay, and this was perfect. If you have anything over 25 feet, other places are probably better. But if you tent, or have a small rig and don't need hookups, this is a wonderful place to camp. There was a large RV camped there, but probably at the only site that could handle a rig of that size. You will also need to be skilled at backing your rig for some of the sites.
For $2.50 or $5.00 (if you have to pay full price) there is nearly nothing to complain about. That said, I did not use the toilet. But my experience is that the FS campground toilets are generally clean and odor free unless horribly overused. I plan on staying here again as I make this trip on a yearly basis. Happy camping! - Corno1
May 2012 - $5.00
A primitive National Forest campground. Well shaded, quiet and clean. Not big rig friendly though. Just off of hwy 385, 10 miles south of Chadron, just a couple of minutes to Chadron State Park. Excellent for an overnight stay on your way to, or from the Black Hills. - ken22
Sep 2018 - $20.00
Very nice park...... The roads have small ruts about every 50ft and you will feel them all, will also keep traffic speeds very low. We camped on site # 58 up on the hill across from the flush toilets and shower bldg. Clean toilets & showers but very dated. Small laundry in same bldg. Cabins are available. We camped at Chadron State Park in a 5th wheel. - JR and The Boys
Jul 2018 - $20.00
This is a beautiful state park with lots of activities. Sites are large and I don't think there is a bad site in the campground. All staff are friendly and helpful. Good AT&T cell coverage, Dish satellite and Verizon MiFi. Close to Chadron and shopping. We stayed here 6 nights and would do the same again if in the area. - Bobbi1948
May 2018 - $20.00
very nice CG, lots of walk-up sites avail on this week day. Wide open sites, lots of space, nice grass areas. RR's were clean but dated. Very nice cabins available in this CG. Easy drive from Custer SP. This area has some fire damage along with beetle kill. Would definitely stay here again. - katinfoco
Jun 2018 - $32.00
Just a quaint little RV Park on 385 N in Chadron, NE. It was clean, neat, quiet and a great place to hang our hat for the night while passing through. The roads and sites are gravel with grass between. Looked like all sites were pull-through with a post in the center. We would stay there again. Chadron appeared to be a pretty little town in a very scenic part of western Nebraska. - jomark
Aug 2017 - $30.00
The spaces are rather close to each other but are well shaded. The park is dusty due to a well traveled gravel road next to the park. However, the park is well maintained, the owner and staff are friendly and helpful. The sewer hookup is somewhat awkward but the guide to your spot ensured you were able to connect. - Chalkie
Jul 2017 - $30.00
This was a quick overnight stop when we were traveling. Management was very helpful. While this is an older park, and a little rough, it was clean and the hookups were convenient. There are not many options in the area and this place was as good as any. Do shake down anything you put outside. This is sand hill country & there are lots of ants. - 2retreads
Aug 2017 - $15.00
What a JEWEL. A little gem in the middle of Norther Nebraska. City park, easy in, easy out, 6 pull through spaces, alternate hookups, long sewer and water hookups for some No cable, wifi, a little, sometimes. Big park across the street to walk the dogs. City swimming pool adjacent to park, It wasn't open while we were there, kids back in school. A great place to spend a night or a week seeing the area. Nice small town. would stay again if in area. - ChiefUSN
Sep 2015 - $10.00
This is a very eclectic campground with a resident "manager" who was friendly and available. All the other campers were long-term. The sites were generally level with water hook-up only. Payment was made by envelope at an unattended office. What a refreshing change from the formal "check-in" at the big parks. The pool was closed for the season, but the town was taking up a collection to "save the pool"! There is a large, well maintained park across from the campground that offers plenty of exercise for the kids. The amenities in town were all walkable and there was plenty of room to run your dog off leash.
The only negative were the restrooms. They were quite frankly disgusting and in need of upgrading. - DHK
Jul 2015 - $15.00
City campground, lights, water, sewer. There is a pay box on site but we went to city hall and paid to get wifi password. Wifi was ok but kept getting knocked off and have to sign on again, even with the repeater. Right next ot swimming pool and good eats downtown Only about 10-12 spaces. More of a overnight stop than a destination stop. - Jim Lee
