This was a great find! It's right next to baseball fields but no games were being played while we were there so it was quiet. The only drawback is the trains which are frequent. There is a dump station, which we did not use but it is convenient. We would definitely stay here again. - MT RVers
Apr 2018 - $10.00
Gravel lot beside local baseball field and swimming pool. Perfect for overnighter with electric only. Toilets were locked when we visited. Trains are close and frequent, other than that site was quiet. We had the whole park to ourselves including a small kids playground. There is also a dump station. - tkraken

The park was very well kept, and clean. It was a peaceful evening and night. Really enjoyed staying here. The train noise was constant but once we went to bed we didn't notice it. Definitely would stay here again. - Dolph Smitzke

Nature! We RV because we love nature. The Blue Heron is an old resort but, despite its age, it's neat and clean. It is in a heavily wooded area with giant cotton wood trees, flowers and birds everywhere. It's set along a little tributary of the North Platte. If you want fancy, this is not it. If you want a concrete parking lot, this is not it. But, if you want nature, you will enjoy the gorgeous natural setting. - Jkj

Requested a 50 amp service site. Assigned a site. This site had had electrical problems 3 days prior as per electrician and with drop and surge blew our refrigerator and microwave out! Electrician helped us find another site. Owners accepted no responsibility for damage due to "hold harmless" clause on email confirmation. Would not even refund our money. - Nancy Frank

Needs a lot of care. Bathroom had dead bugs against the walls, showers had mold on them. Water was hot, pool was not filtered and leaves and cottonwood floating in it. Wifi was ok. Would not stay again, outdated and needs repair! Picnic table was warped. Too bad because it is right off the freeway which is nice! - Roxie H R

This is owned by the city but operation is contracted out. Entry roads are narrow with tight turn on the exit for my 38 ft 5th wheel. Park is right beside a very nice large city park with plenty of grass and a 2 mile walking path. Operators were great! Extremely helpful in resolving a tire problem also gave me my pick of open sites. It had rained the previous day and sites were soft and muddy withstanding water at each end / needed my 4 wheel drive! Sites had shared utilities so you could have them on wrong side. Park only had 4 other campers so spacing and utilities were not an issue. I got the impression that the park is rarely crowded. Lastly, you can hear the trains! Not too bad if you run your ac all night. - daviputnam

As others mentioned, trying to figure out your spot vs the map is a little confusing to say the least. There really is no way to pull in to park. You just go with the flow! However, the couple who manage the park are awesome and very helpful. The park has a wonderful hiking park next to the RV park. The noise - what noise? It was a pleasant stay and would definitely come back to this park. We had wild turkeys outside our door too! Don't miss this gem - it was a lifesaver for us from the wind today. - Pdcsjc

This is a City Park - can't beat the price. It is very well cared for. Our site was surprisingly level. The water and electric are shared so not on the right side for our hook ups but we had a long enough hose and cord. There are lots of trees so very shady and mostly not good for satellite - but if you park on the perimeter you can get an open satellite shot for Direct TV. The OTA has a few channels the Verizon 4G is good. The people who manage it couldn't be nicer - so very helpful and kind. The bathroom is really old and the showers are separated only by a curtain so not as private as I would like. They are as clean as they can be considering their age. There is a great walking path adjacent to the park - it could be a bit un-nerving if you were to leave your rig unattended for a period of time because you are parked so close to a public walkway where anyone can come or go but it is a small town so probably ok. We chose site #6 and would stay here again if we are in the area. - NiMo

I had a hard time finding the "campground", in fact I drove right past it relying on the gps. Best directions are to go north off of I-80 and make a right on Walnut. There is a Casey's General Store on the left that has "cheap" gas. Don't go over the overpass. Go about 1/4 mile on Walnut and make a right on to the dirt road. There is a sign saying Dawson County Fairgrounds up high and one down low saying campground. The area has 10 "pods" that have a 50A plug and breaker on each side of 2 pedestals. Along the fence line there are 4 pedestals with 2 plugs. I believe there is room for 48 RVs. There were some muddy areas. The area is pretty level. The dump station is on the way out if you use the front entrance which goes to Plum Creek Parkway. - mrracechaser

Sep 2017 - $28.00
We went to the "Inlet Area Campground" on the west side of the lake where were met by the campground host, who was friendly and informative. Electric sites are $20, plus a $8 day use fee ($6 for NE residents), $28 total. This is a bit high considering the sites are 30A electric only (no water or sewer); the site surfaces and campground road are gravel; our site was not completely level (but only required 2 Lynx blocks to rectify). It was quiet when we were there, and we had a great view of the lake. The only source of potable water in the Inlet Area Campground is a spigot on the north side of the bathrooms. We were able to back in onto a concrete pad, but we have a 25' Winnebago View -- longer rigs might block the road. There are two (2) campgrounds. The (only) dump station is on the other side of the lake, near the Port Side Express gas station. As far as I can tell, it is free to all. It is not inside the park. - sajohnson
Oct 2016 - $25.00
A beautiful state park on a large lake. We had a hugh pull through site with electricity facing the lake. Neighbors nearby but not close. Verizon worked well. Got a good shot south for our satellite. This was a one nite stay driving across Nebraska on I80. Would definitely stay again. - smitty12
May 2016 - $27.00
Relatively small campground on the west side of Johnson Lake. Johnson Lake SRA contains two campgrounds. The main one has several nice sites. The "inlet" sites where we stayed are in a different location. Campground is next to a boat launch and right on the water's edge. It's a great spot for campers who enjoy boating and fishing. Our site was electric only. There was water available but it wasn't obvious: there's a faucet on the side of the restroom building. There were several private shower stalls that looked nice (we didn't use them). Our site was level with a lovely view of the lake. Easy to back into. Beautiful old trees in the campground, but trimmed adequately to not get in the way of slides. Nice space between sites. The campground is about 10-11 miles south of I-80 so no highway noise at all. There was a sewer smell occasionally when there was a breeze. - Smashcamp
