A KOA "Journey" is set up mostly for interstate overnighters and as far as they are compared with KOA Holiday or Resort brands typically have much fewer amenities or bells and whistles. Having said that, the Grand Island KOA Journey is a perfectly lovely overnight camp that packs a lot in a small package. 50 pull thru sites and several Kabins. The sites are shaded and fairly large and level. The office staff are super friendly and offer fresh pizza delivered to your site. There is a clean bathhouse and a small pool. We've stayed at many KOA's and would rate this as a good one. We camped at Grand Island KOA in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed here twice on our trip; heading out and heading home as it is very convenient off Interstate 80. The first night we arrived after the office closed, but they had all of the paperwork ready for us at the check-in board. Our site was easy to get into and level. We didn't even bother to unhook our tow vehicle. The second night we arrived during the afternoon and had a someone guide us to our site which was nestled between two trees. It would not work for trailer with slide-outs, but was perfect for us. We would stay here again. We camped at Grand Island KOA in a Travel Trailer.

I'm not a big fan of KOA but this park was wonderful. Dirt and gravel pads were level and they had a nice grill in the office where you could buy eats to enjoy with the football game. It was just far enought off the Interstate to be quiet. I will use it again. We camped at Grand Island KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Big rig friendly with level sites. Easy on/off exit from interstate. Laundry and showers were good. Wifi was excellent even when the campground was full. Dog park was good. Campground was good to ride bicycle. All sites were very narrow and picnic table was beside the neighbors sewer. We camped at Grand Island KOA in a Travel Trailer.

2 mi off I-80 NO traffic noise HOORAY . We camp in a Little Rig "Tear Drop" style RV only 15' long w/o toilet or shower ~ plus we like to eat outdoors using the picnic table and set up our dining canopy for sun and weather protection and thus rely on condition of campgrounds facilities and being nearby our site ~ so our critique is focused in that area. 1st impression this is nice - a welcomed site after hours on the road next to cornfield with sites amongst the trees for shade & green grass. But then close up this is a typical KOA with very narrow close together sites packed together like a can of sardines RV park style with gravel pads and roadways. We had a picnic table but strip of grass was very narrow sandwiched between neighbor RV's. There are many cabins for rent and a nice separate grassy area for tenter's; all close to the restroom/showers ~ as were we. So placement of that building was ideally situated. Nice swimming pool area plus overall the grounds are clean and well maintained it shows they care. The building held 6 individual unisex restroom/shower rooms. Down the hall on one side were 3 ea private shower rooms, opposite side were 3 ea private restrooms with a toilet and sink. At one end was an ADA shower/restroom combined. All were modern and clean. Shower rooms had hooks for clothes/towels, wall bench, and rubber floor mat for wet feet. Missing was a shelf for your toiletries stuff. Only NEGATIVE was Lack Of Adequate Ventilation; nonexistent and it got very stuffy in there. Trying to towel off dry was a joke! If you open the door a crack to get air, you're exposed to next person in hallway waiting in line. Restrooms had paper towels so you could clean up your area after and a shelf for toiletries - very thoughtful, but no hooks for towel and clothes. Same ventilation problem. Note: there is a 2nd restroom/shower facility connected to the office We camped at Grand Island KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Site number 15 was under a large shade tree and the end spot. Traffic noise from I 80 was minimal and we were at the north end of the campground.

Gravel roads and sites that are spacious. Sites are pull through. Neighbors are close but not on top of you. Water, electric, and sewer are fine. The cable and Wifi are extremely good. There are fire pits in a common area near the pool. Limited shade to perimeter sites, center mostly sun. Nice pool and playground. Good dog walking area. The grounds are well groomed and the staff is great. Kind of campground you feel good about staying a couple of days. We camped at Grand Island KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Well run, well organized campground in the middle of a cornfield with wide paved roads and nice landscaping. Grass at each site, good utilities, clean bathrooms and showers. Dramatic views of flat farmland in all directions - we were there for a whopper storm you could see approaching for an hour or more. Laundry had machines that worked fine. Pizza made in the office and delivered - was very good! Downside is the ubiquitous smell of feedlots that greet you everywhere in Nebraska, it seems. Grand Island, Nebraska doesn't have anything worth stopping for, so this was an overnight. We camped at Grand Island KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Spent the night here while traveling. Pull through sites were very close together, but they were level. For some reason there are very bright overhead lights. I could have read my newspaper outside after dark. Nice field to walk dogs. Also saw evidence that people do not always pick up after their dogs. We camped at Grand Island KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

We stayed here for one night coming home from Arizona. The park is spotless, with great amenities. The owners are so welcoming and friendly. They offer fresh baked pizza, delivered to your RV for a very reasonable rate. In the summer there is a pool, not yet in use, in the shoulder season there is an indoor hot tub available. We would recommend this park, it was a good place to stay. The Wi-Fi was excellent. We camped at Grand Island KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Typical KOA sites, close together, and gravel roads. Not as close to the interstate as we had expected (a plus - road noise not so bad). Friendly/helpful owners & staff and clean facilities made our stay pleasant, and the pizza they cook & deliver is excellent! A few sites are fairly shady in the afternoon, but most aren't; we were lucky enough to get one of the shadier ones & sure enjoyed it! There are a few permanent/longterm folks here, including some that seemed to be rented trailers - school bus picked up & dropped off some kids at the campground and there were about 4 or 5 trailers in a row that were identical, with more stuff sitting around outside than at most of the short-term folks' places. These are in a separate area of the campground, however. We would return. We camped at Grand Island KOA in a Travel Trailer.

This was a quick overnight stop near the interstate. We found the staff to be friendly and helpful. The building facilities were clean and well maintained, although we did not use the showers. The sites were very narrow however and our pad (as were several others we noticed) rutted. It made it very difficult to level the trailer. The road conditions were marginal also. It simply appeared that not much was done to keep the actual grounds in good condition. If needing an overnight stop in the future we would try and find an alternative spot. We camped at Grand Island KOA in a Travel Trailer.
