The good points- Pizza from Hunt's Brothers (no charge for toppings) delivered to your coach 7 days a week (very nice after a long day's drive). Chuckwagon open on weekend. A pool & playground. Cable & Wi Fi & a nice dog park. Satellite friendly. Friendly staff. Laundry & Recycling. Plenty of places to walk the dog. When we checked in the big vacant area across the way from our site was still available to use for the dogs, however, on our second day there they started digging for the 5 new sites they were putting in that space. So, I don't know how much of that area will still be available. Part of it is officially designated as a pet walk area. Bad points - The area we were in was very narrow. In order for us to park our neighbor had to bring in his awning. The sites have a picnic table but you can't use them if someone is parked next to you because you would be sitting under their slide. We had this problem when we stayed here 2 years ago. As a matter of fact at that time they asked us to put our slide in to accommodate the people who pulled in next to us. The next morning when we let our dogs out we could hear their toilet flush. I did hear that the new owners were looking to address the problem of the narrow sites. All in all we would stay there again if we are in the area because it is the nicest park in the area. We camped at Grand Island KOA in a Motorhome.

A KOA "Journey" is set up mostly for interstate overnighters and as far as they are compared with KOA Holiday or Resort brands typically have much fewer amenities or bells and whistles. Having said that, the Grand Island KOA Journey is a perfectly lovely overnight camp that packs a lot in a small package. 50 pull thru sites and several Kabins. The sites are shaded and fairly large and level. The office staff are super friendly and offer fresh pizza delivered to your site. There is a clean bathhouse and a small pool. We've stayed at many KOA's and would rate this as a good one. We camped at Grand Island KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Cute campground just off I-80, easy to get to although you do have to drive on gravel to get there, but not very far off the highway. Sites are VERY close together. The neighbor to our front had all of his hoses including sewer all strung over our site which is rude. Not sure we would stay for a weekend, but for overnight it was great. We didn't really spend any time outside, so it wasn't an issue. We camped at Grand Island KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Typical crowded cramped space KOA. It is probably the most well kept KOA we have been to. Flys are bad but to be expected since it is in the country. Quiet even though it is close to the interstate. Verizon signal was ok but At&t was iffy. Wifi worked for us. We camped at Grand Island KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

There is very easy access to this campground from the interstate. The park has many mature trees and has cornfields on two sides. The cornfields are nice because they help to buffer the traffic noise from the interstate which is minimal given the proximity to the interstate. The water hook ups are different depending on the site. We had a shared spigot. Our hook up was on the correct side, however the neighbor we shared with had to run a long hose to get to the water hook up on the passenger side of his rig. You may want to inquire about this when making a reservation. The spaces were close together, but no closer than most KOAs. For an overnight spot, it's a lovely KOA and we would return. We camped at Grand Island KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Typical KOA good for a one or two night stay. They were nice and let me park my truck in the site next to us, because there was not enough room in our site to park in front or behind. We camped at Grand Island KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

We visited a cute little Danish town called Dannebrog. My wife had relatives that lived in this tiny town in the early 1900's

We stayed here twice on our trip; heading out and heading home as it is very convenient off Interstate 80. The first night we arrived after the office closed, but they had all of the paperwork ready for us at the check-in board. Our site was easy to get into and level. We didn't even bother to unhook our tow vehicle. The second night we arrived during the afternoon and had a someone guide us to our site which was nestled between two trees. It would not work for trailer with slide-outs, but was perfect for us. We would stay here again. We camped at Grand Island KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Big rig friendly with level sites. Easy on/off exit from interstate. Laundry and showers were good. Wifi was excellent even when the campground was full. Dog park was good. Campground was good to ride bicycle. All sites were very narrow and picnic table was beside the neighbors sewer. We camped at Grand Island KOA in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed here for one night passing through. This was a very basic park - all dirt, with the sites super close to eachother. Thankfully it wasn't even close to full, because our neighbor's awning would have been touching our slides. The sites were level and long enough that we didn't have to unhitch. There is nothing nearby - it's surrounded by corn fields, which makes for a very quiet stay. The facilities were clean and the pool was a good size and in good shape. Definitely not a destination park but it was comfortable for a night. We camped at Grand Island KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

First Impression: Road sign states "Pavement ends" then pea gravel into CG. Nice roadside appearance. KOA discount only. Neighbors are close. Safety: no concerns - peaceful. Access: Exit 318 from I-80 then south about 500'. Entrance road is rutted and needs potholes filled. Good CG signage, GPS took us directly in. Office: Nice staff, excellent store with snacks, food items, souvenirs, well-stocked RV equipment items. Hot pizza (quite good) for sale including a breakfast pizza. Wine, cold beer and soft drinks. Facilities: Pool, no spa, no fitness room. Rec room with air hockey and foozball. Large, clean laundry room. Restrooms/showers varnished wood, modern fixtures, clean and attractive, hot, softened water (score "A+"). Propane sales at $3.49/gallon. Big playground. Fenced dog run. Basketball court. Campground: Closed in winter. Not in a flood plain. Roads are dirt/gravel with "be careful" turns. Low tree branches north side (behind office); no overhead obstacles south side. Sites are a bit tight, pull-through. Okay for big rigs. Tent areas, 7 cabins, no yurts. RV sites are dirt/gravel, level in "ok" condition, grass between sites. Utilities at mid-rig with FHU-20/30/50; no meters. Well water with "ok" pressure; good taste. Sewer pipe is unthreaded, 4" above ground level. No patios. Picnic tables. No room for open fires; fire pits in tent areas. South side has good satellite views; north side not-so-much. Free cable TV (36 channels). OTA TV found 9 channels. Free Wi-Fi but I could never get connected. Verizon phone and 4G at 4-bars. No railroad or aircraft but occasional interstate noise. Recycle bins for paper, plastic, aluminum. Bug Report: Small black ants. Runners: CG roads ok for running. Yoga: No place to put mats. Conclusion: If ever in the area again, we'll return - recommended. We camped at Grand Island KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Grand Island is 13 miles northwest. Take NE-2 to US-30 west. City is large with national restaurant chains (Red Lobster, Ruby Tuesday, etc), fast food (DQ, McD's, Arbys, Taco Bell, etc). Ace hardware, Wal-mart (x2) but no fuel, Cenex diesel at $2.529. Autozone, O'Reilly's. VA medical facility. Churches. Banks. Parks & Recreation.

Surprisingly nice park right off the interstate...well maintained & good sized roads & slots...some shade at the site...spotlessly clean bathrooms...wifi & cable were great despite a nearly full park. The is not a vacation park...though it would be fine with kids for a couple of days when visiting the area... but for interstate travellers...it is a nice oasis...with pizza & wings available for delivery to your site if you get in late or want a snack. We camped at Grand Island KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The Sturh Museum of the Prairie Pioneer is nearby and the best 8 bucks you will spend around here. Museum with artifacts and then outdoor exhibits include Indian Mound dwellings, log cabins, pioneer church, one room schoolhouse, and "railroad town". You need 2-3 hours minimum here. Great for kids to see.

This was a nice overnight stay for us as we're passing through. Sites were level, trees, gravel interior roads/sites. Bathrooms were clean, as were the showers, though we didn't use. Most KOAs, they have their pools right up front by the office. This one though had it in the back of the park which was a nice setting. Very friendly and visible staff on site. We would stay here again if in the area. We camped at Grand Island KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Lovely, treed, very level, and easy to navigate. It was quite homey, despite its size. Great children's play area, pool, and dog walk which made it ideal for families. Also had nice tent areas and cabins. People very friendly and welcoming, including other visitors. Would have stayed here longer if we'd had the time, though for a non-family older couple, it was more expensive than we normally like. We camped at Grand Island KOA in a Motorhome.
