We'll gladly stay here again. City-owned. Bluffs visible from park. Very nice staff. Beautiful park, manicured lawns, no trash. Generous spacing between spots, although the pads might be considered just wide enough for a motor home. We were pulling a 20 foot trailer, so we took up all but about 3 feet of the pull-through space (total length RV + trailer = 55'). On slight upslope, so guide to left edge of concrete pad to minimize height of last step to ground (several inches from pad top to ground. All the sites we saw had metal picnic tables on a separate concrete pad. Cable TV instructions say 20 amp circuit has to be on for about 20 minutes for cable to work. If staying Oct-Mar, check to see if you can hook up to water. We weren't told, so our late arrival meant no water. They were telling people not to hook up to water hydrants after 8:00 because of possible freezes. Water hydrants are not wrapped with heat tape. When I mentioned that unexpected surprise, the park staffer tried to give us back half of what we'd paid because she felt bad for our inconvenience. That's integrity! We didn't use their cable service this trip, but it's available (costs $3 per night) and is a bit convoluted. Have to get a remote from the office and follow their checklist. Interior roads are a bit narrow but in very good shape. Most open space I've seen for dog walking in an RV park. We offloaded our car from our trailer, but had to park alongside the trailer on the grass to be safely off the park road. - Dobiedaddy
Sep 2018 - $22.00
Well maintained park with irrigated grass (warning - keep your tow vehicles windows closed!) and paved sites. The roads and the approaches to the site are tight, so I had to drive over the beautiful grass. Hopefully I didn't hit a sprinkler head. Quiet location for a town operated park. Good utilities. We didn't get a FHU site so we had to backtrack to the dump station - it was clean and built with a nice slant to help empty the tanks. Excellent transit stop, but we stayed for a couple of nights for site-seeing. - cherib

City run park that is very clean and nicely laid out. Asphalt roads, concrete pads and patios. Park has wifi but I was unable to connect. Would not hesitate to stay here again if in the area. - rockhill

We were greeted immediately by the friendly on-site hostess who guided us directly into the first space. She said we could move to any other if we wanted, though. We had FHU, which was one of the reasons we chose this park, and they all worked well. There were only 4-5 other campers in the park, and none of us were crowded together. What we hadn't realized was that this park has a lot to do. There is a small zoo, Riverside Discovery Center, at the entrance. Even if you don't visit, you can hear the lion, tiger, and bears roaring sometimes in the mornings/evenings (it was not too loud or disturbing) There are small ponds which the signs say can be fished or rowed on -- they looked kinda murky to me, though. There are lots of walking trails in the park itself, and a nice multi-use paved trail at the back of the park that goes all the way into town, about 1.5 miles one way. There is a disc golf course in the park, as well as a large, fenced dog park. We did not use the restrooms, but they appeared clean and functional, the showers having real doors and not curtains. Easy drive to Scotts Bluff National Monument, the area's main attraction and a beautiful place to hike up to the top of the bluff on a well-maintained trail. We had only planned a one-day stopover but ended up staying three, taking advantage of all the activities and FHUs of the park. - Chasing Dirt
Aug 2018 - $25.00
Wonderfully clean city park along the North Platte River. Weekly rate is $150.00 which is 7 nights for the price of 6. The campground hosts were fantastic. We are fulltime RV'ers and have never seen such hard working hosts in all of our travels. I had health problems while we were there and they bent over backwards to make sure that we could stay as long as we needed. The campground is on a biking/hiking trail along the river. If you like disk golf the park has an 18 hole disk golf course. The park also has fishing ponds, a large dog park, and playground. The only reason I didn't give it a ten was because they didn't have a laundry room. If your going to visit Scottsbluff this is the place to stay. - Pastor Bob
Jul 2018 - $25.00
A great city owned campground in a city park that includes a zoo. Level gravel pads surrounded by grass. Nice picnic tables and fire rings with free firewood delivered by some of the nicest camp hosts ever! Cash only. - LMH

The park is a work-in-progress with mature trees and new saplings. Electric, water, sewer, and WiFi all were good. Our site was pull-through and double-sized; we parked our tow next to our coach with plenty of room. Other than the trains, which did not bother us, the place is quiet. The owner has plans for improved sites and a good-sized dog run. Her joy-filled commitment to her property and business is refreshing. - WC Green
Aug 2018 - $25.00
Park is a work in progress. New owner and she works very hard to make your stay enjoyable. Park was closed for quite awhile and new owner is working hard to reestablish a nice park. We stayed two nights and would return. There is a train nearby but owner obviously has no control of that. Decent park for the cost. - BarbaraS

Stayed at Captain Critters Campground for 3 months while working, great price, great service, good WiFi and large sites. Still needs works but owner has had property for less than a year and is working on renovations. Owner is super friendly and more than accommodating. - Hoopers

This is a nice State Park, pleasant staff, nice sites. Water is available at the park and there is a dump station about a mile from the campground. All sites are back in but we pulled in so we were facing the lake. Electric hook up was 50 amp and worked flawlessly. You have to have an extra long cord to pull in. Great for bicycles! Climb the lighthouse, it's 4 flights and a little snug if you are bothered by close places but the view is nice. Late September, Canadian Geese, doves, gulls, and a raptor in the distance. $28.00 includes State Park entrance fee. - Birdy
Aug 2018 - $20.00
Very nice well kept park. #1 complaint is the same at most parks "pets not on a leash", Owners not picking up after their dogs. COE parks do a much better job at enforcing this issue. We did have an issue with the camper next to us about allowing there dogs to roam free and actually pee on our chair, so we talked to the Ranger and he said he would talk to them and he did because the dogs were on a leash from then on. We stayed for 12 days and contrary to another post earlier we saw the Ranger every day. Most pads were level and the 50 amp service was great. We camped in site #11, there is lots of shade trees at most sites. We did not stay in the HQ Park, we stayed in Butte View where all sites are walk up only. Once again another park in Nebraska with pay showers. Remember they also have daily park fee $8 if out of state. We would stay here again if in the area. - JR and The Boys

Campsites are on the lake. Lots of boating, fishing, and water activities. We stopped for a single night. - 4n6

If you are the adventuresome type you will probably love this place. The campground is about 6.3 miles off Highway 92, near Chimney Rock. The last 3 miles are unpaved but the road is good. We found the main house by following the directions on the ranch web site but found nobody there. On a hunch we followed the road another 1/2 mile and found a turnoff signed for the campground. Another mile and we passed through a gate into the campground. It is small but clean, with awesome views all around. We were the only ones there. The night was beautiful - very quiet with a beautiful starry sky. We thought the feeling might be a little like that of the early pioneers that passed this way, but without the hardships. We loved it. We never saw a soul but left money in the mailbox on the way out. - hwybnb
Jul 2009 - $20.00
Outstanding ranch and campground in the middle of nowhere. We were surrounded by scenery on all sides and completely alone. It was beautiful. There was only an outhouse for facilities, but it was kept very clean. There was a lock on the door outside to keep the animals out. We also took the ranch tour the next day and loved that too! This campground is highly recommended is you want to experience some true Nebraska solitude! - Rockolamamma
Jul 2006 - $18.00
Beautiful peaceful ranch. Stunning views of the Wildcat Hills and Chimney Rock. The jeep tour of the ranch is a must-do activity. Conrad & Louise were great hosts and extremely hospitable. We wish we had planned to stay longer. - Ron Webb

Jul 2018 - $1.00
I rated this as an 8 keeping in mind the type of park this is. This isn't the same as an 8 star RV resort. But for free, and as an easy in and out, clean, safe stop with water and electric, I would say it's an 8. We stayed at Bayard City Park as a quick overnight on our way through Nebraska. It is only 5-10 minutes from Chimney Rock, which was another reason we stayed here. There are 3 sites with water and electric available. The sites aren't separated from each other; rather, it's a small, clean gravel lot with 3 power/electric pedestals and you just back in. We had plenty of room to back in to the middle pedestal at an angle and still leave enough room for others to back in to the pedestals on either side of us. It's fairly easy to find, even in the dark. The sites are free for 2 nights, and after that it's $10 a night. There is no check in process for your free nights. There are no other RV services here (sewer, dump, camp store, etc.) There are no picnic tables either. No wifi, but AT&T signal was strong. It was a great, safe, free overnight stop and very convenient. There is a community pool in the park near the campsites that looked clean and fun, and was already being used by some locals as we pulled out the next morning. We didn't stop to check on prices, but if you were in the area for longer than 1 night, it would be nice to take a dip. While this isn't a destination type campground, we would definitely stay here again if we were passing through and needed to stop for the night. - jhomuth
Sep 2016 - $1.00
We were looking for a one night stop to break up a long drive. We're self contained and don't use the facilities. We stayed here on a weeknight in September.
This was a great spot to spend the night. There are 3 campsites at the far east end of the park nearest 11th street. They are free for the first 2 nights, then $10 for additional nights. There is no check in, no staff. They have water and electric. There are dump stations in nearby Minatare and Gerring, and likely other towns. There is no wifi. ATT and Verizon coverage is good. There are no restrooms. The park is very well maintained and was quiet at night. - dsvt

Small CG With 14 Sites. Very Quiet & Peacefull With Long Pull Throughs. Front Window View is Chimney Rock National Historical Site about 1/2 Miles Away. Received Dish Satellite, AT&T Cell & 5 bars of 4G Service. Shore power was good. There are no amenities like laundry, showers or Restrooms. I really do not have any complaints but it is over priced for what you get. - Lugnuts
Jul 2018 - $29.00
Spent a week here with my telescope and cameras to photograph the dark skies. The owners were friendly and accommodating. I was able to get good pictures. Hope to come back again sometime and encourage fellow amateur astronomers to visit. - Tinisu
Aug 2017 - $50.00
This is a fantastic campground. The staff is is very attentive, happy and genuinely concerned that you have an excellent experience when staying here. The bar is great as well as the food. Hamburgers, pulled pork sandwiches, corn on the cob, EJell-O shots and Margarita lime wedges are a must try! The cost was higher because it was the Solar Eclipse. - Pauljune
