7 RV Parks near Lewellen, Nebraska
Aug 2018 - $25.00
This is an awesome small park with beautiful mature trees and very nice grass sites, walk in your bare feet grass, all sites are pull thru, the owner and staff are very nice. The park is next to a small restaurant and store, sites are level and yes there are trains close by but we enjoyed watching them, once asleep we didnt hear anything. We feel this is a hidden gem and will definitely stay again when heading for Wyoming or South Dakota . - Tfrout
Aug 2017 - $25.00
Nice small RV park with FHU but no restrooms. Great place for an overnight stay. Pros; all pull thru level grass sites, FHU, a row of large trees for some shade, good store and café ¼ mile away, good cell service. Great price. Owner held normal price during eclipse weekend. Cons; can hear hourly trains but slept ok. Pedestals set up for back to back parking, but owner requested all park in same direction so utilities on wrong side for half the sites, but pick you own site and not busy so can park in a site with pedestal on back, trees will block roof mounted sat signal, portable sat OK, no wifi or cable. No restrooms or showers and no tents. Restrooms in store. Not busy. No discounts, price already low. Would stay there again. - Pepper Dan
Jun 2016 - $21.00
This is a small park attached to a small general store, restaurant, gas station. The campground is about a quarter mile or less on a dirt road away from the main building, so there is no noise from traffic using the other facilities. The sites are grassy pull throughs, with a row of trees shading the front of each site. There is a shared utility pole with electricity and water between every two sites. The sites were long enough that we did not have to disconnect the towed from our 36 foot.
The campground is located very close to a railroad track. There were frequent trains during the night.
I did not see a bath house in the campground and did not enquire about facilities at the store.
This is a great overnight stop for anyone traveling on route 26. - Merrymac
Sep 2016 - $18.00
Wish I had my fishing gear. Nice place! They make a GREAT garbage pizza!
You might be careful of where your GPS takes you. Follow their signs and take your time. If we had been able we would have stayed longer!! - Homawy
Jun 2016 - $36.00
The road has been newly paved except for the last two miles, which is gravel, but wasn't bad. Beautiful campground, friendly staff, and delicious food. Had a great time fishing on the lake. Nice sandy beaches too! It's definitely a quiet hideaway worth going to. - Fishing nuts
Jul 2013 - $15.00
Rate reflects Passport America. We initially wanted to stay two nights. However, there are two entry roads to the park which are 'unimproved' - actually they are a nightmare and don't dare try to enter or leave if it's been raining or else plan on calling roadside assistance to get out of there! The site we were given was entirely too small for our fifth wheel. In order to open our slides, we were jutting out in the roadway. We were next to the pool so all we could hear was the kids screaming and yelling. The site was littered with cigarette butts; someone had thrown rotting food on the ground, and there was metal trash on the ground at our site. Completely unhappy with this park. If we had known the roads were so bad, we would not have stayed. Leaving the park, we blew a tire - I've no doubt its a result of a piece of metal we didn't find that found our tire instead. We left after one night - couldn't leave fast enough! - ColesCruising
Sep 2015 - $27.00
Bathrooms could have been cleaner, flat sites but nothing but gray fine sand. Decent little store, friendly staff, caters to fishing. Has permanent mobile homes on one side. Laundry facility was fine. Had a beach, several lakeside spots, some shade. Pay showers $1/5 mins. Worked for us for an overnight stay while on the road (making a point to stay overnight on lake along our route). Not a lot of full/sewer hooks ups. - Enjoying_Retirement
Jul 2015 - $32.00
We prefer quiet but did not experience it here; however staff did rectify the party atmosphere after numerous complaints and guests leaving because of the loud music, etc. Very crowded with lake toys which makes the roads very narrow. Shade was good. Dirt spaces and close together. Minimal grass area for tenters. Lake is full and beautiful though for playing and fishing. - C Thomas
Jun 2014 - $30.00
We were expecting a nice place from looking at the website photos of Van's. We were very, very disappointed. The photos were taken a number of years ago, and does not show what the campground is really like. Essentially, Van's is a big rv parking lot. Yuck. No vegetation or grass as shown in the old photos. Very little space between sites and the campground seems in very poor shape. There is ample space to park your boat with your camper, but that's about it. Due to the low water conditions for the past several years, their private boat ramp was closed and appeared to have been for some time. Their "restrooms" are simply porta-pottys here and there. The rate reflects non-holiday. If you plan to stay there during a summer holiday, 4th of July for example, the price is 4x to $120/night for 30A full hookups! Yikes! (No refunds!) Better off to stay elsewhere. Additionally, the long road from the highway is now loose rock. Watch your windshield. Will not be back. - colochoclab
Jun 2018 - $30.00
I was the only camper there. I was surprised by that. It is on a working farm. The owner was away when I arrived but left a note to pick a spot. She returned later and was very nice. - Michael_T
May 2018 - $22.00
The grassy sites were level with a picnic table. They are buddy sites, but it wasn't crowded so we didn't share with another rig. It is a working farm with very helpful owners. The WiFi was very good as well as ATT service. Convenient on/off of I-80. Great for an overnight stop, we would definitely stay there again. - Traveler23
Aug 2017 - $25.00
The owner was very funny and friendly on the phone when I made a reservation for the 2017 solar eclipse (Lake McConaughy, Ogalalla, and North Platte were all completely booked). His mother was very helpful and welcoming when I checked in. The two spots with dedicated fire pits were taken, but because I requested one on the phone, The owners, brought us a new portable fire pit to our site, where they had set up a picnic table and chairs. We left for North Platte for the day and when we got back they had brought us a huge pile of wood to burn!!! They all called us by our names while we were there. They brought out freshly baked cookies for us that night. Then, later, they came back with some frozen elk meat to send us home with!!! In the morning they brought out freshly baked cinnamon rolls for the entire camp!! I normally hate camping so close the interstate, and honestly I'll never really have a reason to ever stay in Big Springs again... But the McGreer Family is amazing!!!!!! Extremely friendly! Incredible service! Their hospitality and graciousness toward my family has ensured that we will DEFINITELY be going out of our way to stay here again!! - David Bragg
Sep 2018 - $35.00
We have been coming here for 42 years, but I have to say it is slipping down on my favorite list. The prices went up 30% both for camping and day passes 2 years ago to support improvements, that mainly consists handicap spaces, 50 Amp electrical at all sites, and upgrade to full hookups at all sites rather than only a part of them. Unfortunately, they went cheap on the water supply using a single hydrant for two sites (not opposing parking) so one site has to have your hose pass through your awning area, and plan on bring 100' of hose. Also the water pressure is so bad, you have to fill your tank and use your pump. Even with only 10% occupancy, the pressure was terrible. I'm not sure what they did because it used to be fine. We did have some trainee camp hosts that irritated me daily with new rules we were breaking (even though we have been doing it the same for 42 years) but I forgive them as they were friendly and I'm sure it's not an easy job. Last complaint were the trees! Come on Nebraska - these are big rigs that pull through here and your trees are maturing! I don't like driving a $200,000 13' high rig under an 11' tree branch. We complained at the park office, and we showed them pictures via email of other motorhomes dragging branches across the roof, but in the 11 days of our stay they never responded or even sent anyone out. I guess if they are OK with me driving in their grass to avoid tree limbs, then I'm OK with the low trees. Unfortunately the low trees block all exit from the west side of the campground, so its hard to avoid. They are shutting down next week for winter work. I hope they get some things fixed! I still love the park. - atom ant
Aug 2017 - $35.00
Beautiful campground, right on Lake McConaughy. The best part of the grounds was definintely the scenery. The roads getting to the campground were a little rough, and the check-in was a bit confusing; there wasn't an actual person to talk to. Since we had reserved online, we went to our space right away and saw that the campground host had already posted our site for us. There was plenty of space and our spot was only a couple of hundred feet from the water (walking distance with a toddler, a baby, and some chairs in hand). - joshnichols84
May 2015 - $35.00
Stayed in full hookup site. Very nice campground. The lake is almost full and we always enjoy the sand beaches. - gwalter
May 2009 - $25.00
Sites 1 through 8 are full hookups with 50 amp. The rest of the sites are 30 or 50 amp boxes spread out around the campground. Half of the sites are on the reservation system the other half is first come. Had a problem finding a site where the power was working. Sites are pretty level, paved sites and interior road. Water spigots are spread out among the sites here and there. Verizon Aircard and cellphone had a signal and we had no problems getting our satellite in since the trees are small. There's a Safeway in Ogallala where you can load up otherwise you'll have to drive back into town. Electric sites are $17.00 a night and and they charge another $4.00 per vehicle per day so if you plan on staying 4 or more days buy their annual passes at the Visitor Center or at Martin's kiosk. (Annual pass for first vehicle is $20.00 and the 2nd vehicle is $10.00). For a daily pass it's $4.00 per vehicle per day. Campground Host can sell you the Daily Pass. We would probably stay here again if passing through. - jannie5
Jul 2018 - $25.00
Pull through FHU 30 amp site on grass. Grounds are neatly mowed. Some train noise early but not noticeable after 10:00 pm. Lots of grassy areas to walk the dog. Good place for a one night stop. Easy off and on I-80. Several long term residents but all was neat and quiet. - campingdog
Jun 2018 - $13.00
We only spent the night at the park but was very easy to get in and get out of. There were a lot of comments on the trains but after I laid down I never heard them overnight. I could hear them when I was awake but it was not that bad. The person that checked us in was great and he had us just pull along side a bunch of back in sites and plug in for the night. It was perfect for us and we didn't even need to level the trailer as the area was perfectly flat. I do need to mention the water as it was great!!! We live in Oregon on a well and are use to chorine free water and this water was the same. No strange tastes! I would recommend this park to anyone traveling. - Wally Shreves
Sep 2017 - $13.00
This is a very nice park, full hookups, level. The owner is an elderly gentleman who is a delight. He's friendly as can be as well as being a Cracker Jack woodworker. He took us around to his shop where he builds Adirondack chairs designed for older folks who have trouble getting getting out of traditional Adirondack chairs. The only drawback is there is a Union Pacific dual track main line that passes close by and a crossing adjoining the property. It does get a little noisy at times. It's still a great spot. - User3255
