We really enjoy dry camping at Pyramid Lake. Camping is allowed on the east side of the lake pretty much anywhere you can park your vehicle as long as it's 20' from the shore. There is a fairly wide and well maintained dirt road off the highway were Warrior Point is. There are pit toilets available which were very clean when we camped there. It can get busy on the beaches however there are many places to camp so you can find privacy if you want it. We camped at Pyramid Lake Dry Camping (Paiute Reservation) in a Travel Trailer.

Date of Stay: August, 2013 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

As mentioned in an earlier review, if you want to dry camp at Pyramid Lake you can buy a permit in Sutcliffe for $10. The weather was nice for dry camping August so we opted for the $10 dry camping experience vs. the $35 at the marina campground. Pyramid lake has many dirt roads leading to beachfront camping locations. Be careful which road you select due to sandy conditions that could leave you stuck!!! We asked around and went to Pelican Beach which is marked with a sign 3 miles north of Sutcliffe. The dirt road down to the beach was all hard packed and we were able to park within 20 feet of the water. Pelican Beach was fairly crowded on Sunday afternoon when we arrived but by about 5pm almost everybody was gone except for a few RVs. If you are not camping on a weekend, I highly recommend this beach for dry camping vs. the developed marina campground, which is a parking lot on a bluff quite a ways away from and above the water. If you want to get right on the beach and jump in the water (as we did), you will want to stay at Pelican Beach. We camped at Pyramid Lake Dry Camping (Paiute Reservation) in a Fifth Wheel.
