Overall Rating:

Glen Ellis Family Campground is perfectly located just outside the bustling and vibrant town of North Conway, NH, off of the main highway #302, or White Mtn. Highway, which cuts through the White Mtns. west to east. A large roadside signs tells you and your GPS you have arrived. The CG is about a half mile down a nicely paved road crossing over RR tracks. Don't stop at the gas station/convenience store when you see the CG sign thinking it is the office as we did. Arriving to check in the office area provides plenty of space to pull over out of the way. The ladies in the office cheerfully greeted us and processed our check in quickly. However, we noticed quite a large amount of check in activity with a line Friday evening of our stay. Our site, #170, was a bit of a disappointment upon our arrival for a five night stay. On the park maps it appears much different than what we got. Sandwiched between two seasonal sites, it was a total shaded site. I had to knock down a flag pole and plastic flag mounted to a tree perhaps by another seasonal to back into the site. Surface was gravel and mostly level. I thought when I booked the site it was 50 amp, W & S, only to find 30 amp service, no cable, though there was a jumble of mixed cables hanging off of the power pedestal. After a day in the site we got more comfortable with it and my wife and I agreed it had ample space and privacy from the adjoining seasonal sites. Our WiFi signal was strong being close to the office. Near our site was a large barn entertainment room with pool table and coin operated games. Adjoining that was a covered pavilion that featured a beautiful stone fireplace and large flat screen TV mounted into the barn wall. Glen Ellis Family Campground is huge. It sits between the Ellis and Sacco Rivers. The CG is left and right with wooded sits at or near each river. Huge open infield between. A better site and my rating would of been 9 or 10. Would go back with what we now know. We camped at Glen Ellis Family Campground in a Motorhome.

We have been camping here for 21 years. Our children grew up coming here and has always been a favorite of ours. We love coming back each year to see how the river has changed. The staff has always been friendly and accommodating. We camped at Glen Ellis Family Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Very nice, well kept campground in a great spot. We stayed here to take our kids to Storyland, since it is so close and we really liked it...we will definitely stay again. It has a nice little playground for the kids in a wide open area. The campground is very well kept and has beautiful views. We had an end site which was HUGE on one side and accommodated our 41' pusher and tow vehicle with plenty of room to spare. The huge trees so close to the road and site entries make it a little tight to get into the sites, but nothing that a little patience couldn't take care of. We would have preferred 50 amps at our site, but they only had 30...not the end of the world and we made do. For the most part, it is really a very nice campground! We liked it. We camped at Glen Ellis Family Campground in a Motorhome.

This was a fantastic campground. You are greeted by a 1st class office/store and friendly professionals and admitted through a monitored gate. Sites are spacious and shaded along a river. There's up-to-date shower houses, which are clean and hot. They do require 50 cents to operate. The kids loved the swimming hole on the river. There's tennis, basketball, playgrounds, rec room and much more. We hope to come back again. We camped at Glen Ellis Family Campground in a Motorhome.

Very nice CG, friendly office staff, my site as requested was across from a bathroom. Lots to do in the Mt. Washington valley, but leaf peepers make the traffic back up into the next state.
I camped here in my Volkswagon Westfalia. We camped at Glen Ellis Family Campground in a Motorhome.

With a pool, lots of playground area, and the nearby attractions like StoryLand, this is a family friendly campground located in the heart of a pretty mountain valley. Well groomed drives gave access to a spacious, level, sandy site with convenient water, 30 amp, and sewer hookups. Free Wi-Fi accessible from our site gave solid Internet access. Bath facilities were convenient and clean, though showers cost extra. We didn't try the laundry because of their inconvenient pre-paid card charging system. We camped at Glen Ellis Family Campground in a Motorhome.

CG is a mixture of short term and long term sites. Some sites are very spacious and quiet. Ours wasn't! We ended up about 6 feet from the neighbors on each side and behind us. Felt like we were in a parking lot. Staff was very friendly and well organized. CG is very clean. About 1/2 mile or so to Storyland, so lots of kids around, mostly well behaved. We camped at Glen Ellis Family Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

We spent 4 days here with 40 other Aliners camping on their lovely green-space group sites, and had a great time. The staff was friendly and helpful. This is a great place for families with a very large swimming pool, play ground, game/arcade building. There is a large covered picnic area with an old stone fireplace. The restrooms were modern and clean, and the showers are individual rooms. Even with our large group there were no lines waiting for the showers. My only complaint is there was no heat in the showers. There are plenty of places to walk and explore with a river running on each side of the campground. They have a laundry building on the property that has 20+ washers and 20+ dryers, us 6 huge-sized. The machines operate with a card that you put money on so you don't need a pocketful of quarters. The campground is located close to restaurants, shopping, and local attractions. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would return. We camped at Glen Ellis Family Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Very large park but there is little grass and this makes the campsites somewhat dirty. Our site was near the washrooms and rec hall and was too open for our taste. There were a lot of older children running around making a lot of noise after dark, despite the managers efforts to keep it under control. Since bears were spotted in the park, we took our bbq in every night. It's a nice campground but I don't think that it should be rated "New Hampshire's best". We camped at Glen Ellis Family Campground in a Motorhome.

The park was large, and many types of sites are available. Overall our stay was good, with the exception of Saturday night when a group of three dirt bikes were assigned to the site next to ours. They roared in at 10 pm when quiet hour started, and proceeded to start a smoldering fire, flash lanterns to set up their tents, and then at 1:30 am decided to cook a meal. It was a very disappointing stay at the very least. They should have put these people in a field site as they were loud all night. We camped at Glen Ellis Family Campground in a Travel Trailer.

We camped here with a large amount of families mostly in the same grassy area. Campground was clean, recycle area was very clean. Plenty for the kids to do while we were here. Tubes available for rent, which we did, although it seems like they would prefer you not to take them outside the campground, which was fine. They did come around at night and remind us of the quiet hours more than once, but as I stated we were a large amount of families together. Park grounds are well taken care of. We will visit here again, even though they do not allow dogs, only for people who are seasonals. They still use paper and pencil and no answering machine, so to make our reservations took some time, but staff was all friendly and professional. We camped at Glen Ellis Family Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Our kids loved camping here. Lots of open places for the kids to run around, play catch, etc. Great bike riding around the park for our 8 year old. We loved going to the ice cream stand in the their game room area. pool was nice, did get a little crowded though. We came hear because it was so close to Storyland, and ended up not wanting to leave to go there! We will definitely return. We camped at Glen Ellis Family Campground in a Travel Trailer.

This is the ultimate family campground. We managed to get reservations here with only 3 weeks to go due to a cancellation. The Saco river is a great place for swimming and tubing. The owners enforce the quiet time politely but clearly keeping it a nice, family outfit. The bathrooms, showers, and laundry were all clean and in good order. If you get a chance, reserve one of the sites on the river to have a beachfront fire and hear pleasing river sounds all the time. Great locations in the Whites and central to it all.
