Stay away. Mostly old seasonals resembles a trailer park. Sites are very tight but not as narrow as the roads. Dump station did not work because of an on going root problem. - cbshea02

We are staying for the first time as seasonal campers in a travel trailer. This is a family campground on the Lamprey River. It has a small sandy beach area, but no lifeguard. They have canoes and kayaks for camper use at no charge, which is great. They have a a playground, a rec room with pool and ping pong and games for the kids. There is also a dog park area. Folks have been very friendly and the campground is well maintained. The seasonal rates are excellent and very accessible to metro Boston. - bishoppe11
May 2016 - $30.00
A seasonal campground with daily, weekly, monthly, and seasonal rates. Dirt roads are a little rough in spots so go slow. Some gravel sites, most are fairly level, 50 amp for larger rigs. The family is in the process of revamping the entire camp so it is in transition but still a great place for kids to ride bikes and swim/kayak/tube along the river. The sites along the river only fit tents, the upper section could fit some bigger rigs and a few on the lower area could fit up to a 45 foot. They have sewer tanks that they pump out and a dump site by the entrance. It is a family run campground, friendly and vintage but clean. They have horse shoe pits, tether ball, a small rec center with a pool table, grocery stores and restaurants are a short drive. We stayed for over a month and enjoyed the friendly atmosphere. - PERRELLAS

The owners go overboard to see that you are satisfied and will do their best to make you comfortable. When we first arrived after a long dusty road we were assigned a campsite along the river. We hadn't paid yet, the owners would be by later to collect. The campsite was dirt and very crowded. We were very close to our neighbors in a run down trailer. Looked like the neighborhood had been there for years. We were ready to pull out and go somewhere else. The owner showed up and moved us to another campsite with more space and grass. We stayed for our two week commitment.
The campground is occupied by a majority of seasonal people who are friendly and very helpful. We enjoyed meeting them. The pool is very nice and clean. The river is dirty and the launch site is muddy, not a good place for your kayak. The electric service would go off for short periods of time and the voltage would drop. WIFI is available only at the store, no AT&T, no cable TV and too many trees for satellite service. Lowes, Walmart and groceries are near by. - Nautilus
May 2016 - $37.00
This really isn't a very nice campground. I would have to consider it more of a trailer park for RVs. Most of the park is occupied by seasonal or full timers. The infrastructure is lacking in that the power lines are strung randomly around the trees, some of the water lines are just 1/2" abs lines strung around on the ground, and the sewer lines are pvc with some of it above ground. It's either very dusty or very muddy. There are mosquitoes aplenty with all of the standing water around the campground. The river is really not very inviting either as it moves very slowly and retains a yellowish color from the vegetation.
I do have to say that the two women that own the park are very pleasant to deal with but I'm afraid that's about the only positive attribute I can give the park. We spent a week here and would have gone someplace else but it looked like some of the other campgrounds in the area could have been similar so we stayed put. - hoppers4
Jul 2015 - $41.00
We stayed here for a month. We were in between homes and decided to use our fifth wheel to stay comfortable. The owners of the park are two sisters. They are very, very nice and helpful. The family helps out with the campground and they keep it safe and clean. Our site was HUGE, very close to park and river. My two boys enjoyed their stay. Pet friendly and families have plenty to keep busy. They are really do a good job with activities. The seasonal campers were great!! I felt very welcomed and we will go back! - LisaC

Sep 2018 - $44.00
Another Labor Day weekend and another great time. I guess many do not leave reviews for Old Stage so I will leave another. We had a wonderful time here again in our favorite spot. Sat at the fire enjoying movies and the DJ and all the kids playing, it is so much fun. As always the owners were great hosts and the other campers were as friendly as ever. This year most of our group enjoyed the hayride as I watched unable to participate. This campground is becoming special to us and I will enjoy our return next year. - Happy Camper X2
Sep 2017 - $44.00
Another great Labor Day weekend. I guess I could copy and paste the review from last year. Really enjoyed sitting at the fire listening to the DJ. This year we had 4 sites but there was a mix up on our sons site, not sure if it was our son's mistake or the campgrounds but they did everything possible to fix it which they did and they made sure they were taken care of which was great, we really enjoy everything about this campground. We had a lot of rain on Sunday but the owners had some back up plans and were able to entertain the kids which was nice. The wifi is weak but in the end, we do not camp to use the wifi... We are booked for next year already in our favorite site. - Happy Camper X2
Sep 2016 - $43.00
Just home from a nice Labor Day weekend. We like the campground more every time we go. The owners are very friendly as are the seasonal campers. It was fun to see so many kids out running around, riding bikes and playing basketball. From our site we could enjoy listening to the DJ while sitting by the fire. We found the evenings to be mostly quiet especially for a holiday. We have booked for next year already. Wifi was good at the start of the weekend but would kick us off often as the weekend went on. Our site was a pull through which worked out great and was a good size for us. - Happy Camper X2

Jul 2016 - $40.00
We camped in a motorhome. This was a stop on the way to a convention so necessary to dump tanks and fill with water. Staff was very friendly. Sites were grass with little distinction between the sites. Camp is situated on river with marshy area nearby. Whole camp was wet, perhaps from recent rain. Lots of mosquitoes so hard to enjoy being outside. One of two washers was being repaired (things happen) so did laundry in town. Lots of seasonal campers. No patio or designated patio area. - Al Z
Aug 2015 - $40.00
This was an interesting place. Mostly seasonal who are responsible for cutting their own grass I guess because we heard plenty on lawnmovers and other sites were in need of a cutting. Place is quiet and many campers were inside by 9:00. We did not find it to be very buggy, just a little once it got dark. Views of the river were nice but you do get a smell of marsh at low tide. Staff was nice and were most of the campers. We found this campground to be very boring. Partly because it was small so walking it took no time at all and partly because there was nothing to do in the campground or the area. We did use the pool one day which was nice but it could have been a little cleaner. Not sure if we will return. - Happy Camper X2
Jul 2015 - $30.00
Stayed recently, and definitely will not return. The mosquito problem is so significant that you almost can't leave your tent/RV -both day and night, and beyond the typical dusk/dawn mosquito feeding times. Took the dog for a walk at 8am in bright sunshine and we were both attacked by swarms of mosquitos - literally dozens. Off repellent with 30% deet was only marginally effective, and we could not sit by the fire due to the sheer volume of mosquitos.
Campground was clean, with good level sites for tents. The small staff was accommodating, friendly, and helpful, but we were prisoners inside our tent most of the time due the the mosquito problem. We were also sold firewood on-site that still needed a good month to dry/season and would barely light. This may be a good campground for the seasonal camper who owns a boat, due to boat ramp (but in water that you cannot swim in), but beyond that, there are far better choices out there. The owners really need to treat the campground for mosquitos and deal with this significant problem. In 20 years of camping, we have never seen such a significant mosquito issue. - Mr Joe P

I have nothing bad to say.
This campground is awesome beautiful beaches yes there are 2 clean restroom are plentiful free wi/fi. All over the park the week we stayed the had a free pig roast. It was great so much to do I got dizzy. Had to let the world know this place is the best. - Happy sober camper
Aug 2015 - $54.00
This facility normally requests a 3 day stay, as they say "to keep out partiers and riff raff" We were tired and they made an exception for us, as we were "an older couple!" What a beautiful park. Yes the roads were a little rough but you expect that in a heavily wooded area with old trees! They offer nice amenities including boat and paddleboard rentals. They have laundry facilities, propane and a store on site. Showers and restrooms wonderful. They also rent cabins. It was a little spendy, but would make a great facility for a family reunion. Their checkout time is 1:00. They have two beaches on lake. So much to do here, no need to leave park! - DigMyPast

Sep 2012 - $18.00
Passport America rate is $18 + 7% sales tax. Campground is run down. However, campground is out in woods and quiet. It is close to Maine coast for sightseeing and shopping. Manager pleasant. Rating of 5 due to run down state. About 1/2 mile drive in on dirt bumpy road. We stayed a week. Would stay here again for price and convenience. - Peter K
Jun 2011 - $19.00
Rate reflects Passport America discount. In general facilities are in disrepair. One building falling down and one (had indoor pool I think) had big tarp on roof and signs that roof failing. Isolated and quiet are the best things I can say. Entry road was dirt and very long and VERY narrow with MANY potholes. Door to what I think was laundry had door knob removed and would not open. Would not stay here again. - ctpres
Sep 2009 - $16.00
A beautiful riverside, wooded setting. Somewhat tired grounds with rough, potholed entry road. Electric hookups are somewhat shaky. Blew a circuit breaker making dinner and no one seemed to know how to reset it. Nice enough management. Would stay here again though, for the setting alone. PPA rate. - IslandBob

Nice lake with some great spots around the lake. Very quiet, nice owners. Some of the seasonal units are pretty run down but the people make up for it. Campground also has a group of very old and really cool cottages on the lake. They look fun. We had a good time. - J Gravely
May 2007 - $42.00
This campground is great! It is a old New England farm on a lake. The fishing is great. The site we stay on (4 years in a row) is right on the water. The door of our camper is thirty feet from the lake shore. The owners will bend over backwards to make your stay a good one. - bendjosph

If rated on customer service, this place would be a 10. Sadly, this park is in the process of being sold to developers. It is a convenient park but not designed for larger rigs. Watch out for low wires. - Charisma1965
Aug 2015 - $45.00
Not a campground by any means, more like a trailer park. No teen activities little to no activities for younger kids or any activities are put on by other campers/residents Campground employees are quick to Yell at you for going to fast yet they pass you on their 4 wheelers, that's another thing. 4 wheelers are constantly going all over the campground like its a ATV park. Yet they are not allowed unless you're part of the click. One of the owners is more than happy to tell you it's quite time while roaring around the camp at midnight waking my kids with the sound of his 4 wheeler.
The public restrooms are a filthy outdated mess. WiFi only at the office with no place to sit or any privacy. With so many campgrounds out their I will never bring my family there again.
Don't waste your money. - Happy sober camper
Jun 2015 - $45.00
Horrible experience! When i called to reserve a two week spot, the woman on the phone took a five day payment. Upon arriving at the office to check in, we were told that our chosen site had been taken and were given another site and were not allowed to choose where. We were told that we had to use their power convertor (which unplugged and spoiled everything in my fridge and defrosted everything in my freezer). The bathrooms reeked of mildew. The showers were pay showers with tiny heads that only sprayed a mist, and you could not adjust the water temperature. When I went to the office on day three, the woman behind the desk... the same one who checked me in said, "Checking out, correct?" Shocked i replied, "No, when I phoned and checked in I told you we needed a spot for two weeks." I was then informed that someone took a seasonal spot and i was given two hours to pack up and leave AND find another place to stay. Please note this campground is located next to a prison, the dirt roads are poorly maintained and only fit one vehicle at a time. The only positive thing that i can say is that the fishing was great. Lastly, they had two activities listed but both were cancelled. Another camper told me that they plan and cancel most activities. Do not ruin your vacation by staying at this disorganised slum of a campground. - country camper69

We went in with high hopes but our bubble was quickly popped. The owner was nice and she helped where she could but there was a lost reservation so check-in took a while. The pool had clear water but the sides and the bottom were very dirty or stained or something, cleaning or painting is needed. The sites were it rough shape as far as them being neat and clean and level. The utilities were fine but the sites needed grading, brush cleared and probably a number of trees removed. Many of the seasonal sites were cluttered and spilling over into neighboring sites. There was a nice entry road and the playground looked nice but that was about it. We were hoping to find a gem close to home and close to the beach but that did not happen. Maybe with a lot of TLC this could be better but to be real good a re-design of some of the sites would be needed. - Happy Camper X2
Jul 2017 - $40.00
Staying in a tent is uncomfortable enough! Without the creepy landscaper coming around to see if your "alright dear ". The campsite was full of roots , very hard to set up a tent. The campground is old and run down with no sign of fixing it. The bathroom lady was very nice and tried hard to keep it clean. But we won't stay here again !! The pool is falling apart, nothing for kids or adults to do, too many old people. The owner is a crabby lady and mean. Hire someone else to do the work around the campground!! - Campground star
