This park is very convenient to the Nashua, NH and Lowell, MA areas. It is a small park on a beautiful lake, and primarily caters to long term residents. The park offers few amenities, but the rates are very reasonable. Comcast cable and phone service is available on every site. The park is closely monitored by the owner via video cameras, and it is not unusual for the operators of the part to come out and meet incoming campers without being prompted. No pool, showers, or Wi-Fi is provided, but if you need a decently priced campground for a long term stay in this area, this park stands out. - tricotec

Planned to stay here for a weekend while visiting friends in Nashua, but ended up extending a day. A lot of the sites are seasonal/permanent campers, but all are very well maintained. W/S/E were all in excellent condition and did not require any extra hoses or cable. Sewer pipe was a bit high. Asphalt surface was in good shape, level, solid. We had a pull through this time. Very nice stream and pond, and plenty of trees around the outside. The free Wi-Fi was excellent. Great coverage, strong signal, and I never experienced it slowing down. We really enjoyed it here last year, and this year everything was even nicer. I would certainly stay here again. - BounderPounder
Jun 2017 - $45.00
Overall our stay was good. The staff was friendly and stopped to talk to us regularly. As others have mentioned the site we had was roomy. In my opinion, big rigs (40+ feet) might have an issue negotiating the interior roads. The free Wi-Fi was best in the early morning hours (but not great), once the campground filled up, internet access was limited most of the time, and sometimes not useable. The cable TV was very poor, luckily our satellite connection was good. Prior to staying at this campground, we never had an issue with our Surge Guard, but one phase at this campground was constantly reading 130 vac and occasionally it would trip. Now that we've moved to another state and campground, we're not having any issues with it tripping. - gMw

A great, quiet RV park, good sized sites. Too may trees for satellite TV. Wifi was really not working when we were there. We would stay here again if we are in the area. - John and Carol

Beautiful CG. Very well kept. Really enjoyed our stay. CG is set in a hilly area with sites built around the landscape. The sites and roads are well kept. - Goodcruisin

We based out of here so we could play tourist in Boston. It’s a fairly long drive, but the closest and certainly the nicest campground in the Boston area. Lots of trees. Lots of nature. The sites are a nice size and are mostly offset from one another giving you a feeling of privacy. Convenient to a couple of highways. Very clean. Well run and organized. We stayed here a couple years ago because it was on our way to somewhere else. When we decided to visit Boston, there was no question as to where we would stay. We also feel safe here. There’s a conenience store/has station within 500 feet of the campground. - FloridaWanderers

This is what I consider a rustic campground. That is not a criticism but it is not one of the cement pads, paved roads, manicured edges type of parks. (Kinda love those too.) It is clean and well maintained. Staff was very nice. The beautiful tall pines surrounding our site along with a night of heavy rain required that I clean off my slide before closing up but the beauty was worth it. We got great use of the stone firepit. Great location for taking the metro into Boston, visiting Salem, Lexington and Concord, etc. One thing my wife commented on is that they had specific information sheets for anything and everything you could think of from transport to food to medical to...anything. This was beyond the normal maps or brochures. They came in very handy. - Bandguy

OMG! DO NOT STAY HERE! I'm not impressed with the poor customer service. We were given a site for a 28' trailer that we could barely fit on with weeds up to our knees! Not even trimmed before we arrived and no fire pit! I wasn't going to do a review until we were hassled to go to the office to pay $6 for a day guest!! We understand rules, but it's the way it was enforced! Go elsewhere this place is a waste of money!! - Kbella
Jul 2018 - $30.00
If you're not a long term resident, or here to play golf (9 hole par 3), this is not a great park. Even then I wouldn't rate it very high. The roads and sites are very tight with tree limbs that should have been trimmed long ago. They made a big deal in the 'rules' about not trimming limbs since they will do that, but obviously they don't. Our site had a speed limit sign that was poorly placed right next to it. Even though the overall site was a decent size & level, all of the trees made it feel very closed in. The fire pit was an old washing machine tub and not really usable. We did manage to find a hole between the trees to receive Dish satellite but I wouldn't count on it elsewhere. There was NO CELL OR WIFI reception. The original part of the park is not designed for big rigs, but there is a new expanded area which is much larger and better laid out....unfortunately they didn't put us in there. The train in the distance was not too noticeable. Since there aren't really any amenities, we thought the place was not a good value. - Hands For Him

I really liked this park. Super friendly and helpful staff. The golf course will challenge any golfer Tight course which rewards straight shots. Greens are fast and true. Be sure to make a reservation if arriving in a motorhome . - Dave Kain

The wifi needs work, only works at office. Xfinity was there working. - A_lan
Oct 2016 - $37.00
This campground is in a wooded area with lots of trees immediately off the roads on both sides of the winding roads to get to your campsite. Although the park advertises it has big rig access, this is a lie. The trees are so close to the winding road that big rigs cannot make it through without hitting some trees. I damage a window awning. It also only has 30 amp electrical hookups and not 50. I will not be back with my 40 foot motorhome. - F_Jecks

Calef Lake was the first camp ground my family (2 adults, 4 kids) went to after purchasing our Travel Trailer. It was close to home and for that reason we figured it was a good place to try out camping. The people there are very friendly, both the staff and long term campers. The camp ground was very clean, with the site being raked down prior to our arrival. The second time we went, they put wild flowers in a plastic vase out on the fire pit. The beach is raked down daily and it is a nice sloping grade for young kids, with a dock the older kids like to play on. There were a lot of other kids on the camp grounds, giving a mix ages. The camp ground got really quiet at or just after 10pm. For services, the water pressure was good, we didn't have any problems with the electrical or sewer. There is a second pond for fishing, however be prepared to loose a lot of hooks as there are a lot of trees in the water. The overall camp ground is small but quaint. The kids enjoyed bike riding everyday. The camp ground is small enough that they passed the camp site every few minutes making it easier to keep track of them. The dumpers, while are on the way to the beach tend to fill up quick and have a foal odor in the immediate area. The roads can be tight to maneuver larger trailers through the park. All in all, my family really enjoyed the camp ground, and we plan on making regular trips back in the years to come. - NHChris

Since this state campground is local for me, I was very pleasantly surprised how quiet and nice it was. There is a modern restroom with free showers and two older restrooms that were still clean. The campground sits on top of a hill from the swim area which can make it a hike for little campers. The swim area was a little muck on the bottom but my kids didn't mind. The pine trees offer good shade from the sun. There is also another state park nearby which honors the Pearl Hill camping pass for swimming. Willard Brook has a nicer swimming area but the water is a little colder. We stopped off at it on our way home. They also have camping but they only have one site that our travel trailer would fit on. We drove through it and the road through the campground is a little tight. We definitely would go back to Pearl Hill again and enjoyed our stay and it's really convenient in its location. - B. P. Donelan

Sep 2018 - $34.00
The Wagon Wheel campground used to be a nice place to camp at. Now most of the camp sites are horse stables. The prices for a night stay have jumped in price from $24.00 a night to $34.00 per night of which is a rip off. If you want bundles of wood the prices jumped from $5.00 a bundle now $7.00 a bundle of not cured wood. The grounds and camp lots are looking not there best. Grass is tall areas are over grown. The playground area looks like something in a horror movie, old rusty and rundown. The swimming pool is not in much better shape old and run down and looks like a home backyard inground pool. It can be very noisy at times staying here as guests do not know how to respect other people with blasting radios and drinking heavy alcohol. Fire pits are always filled with trash and debris of which you will need to clean if you want a fire. The owners charge $15.00 per night if you have a lot with electricity of which is ridiculous. The owners seem to be running the camp grounds more as a horse stable now rather camp grounds and are lacking in maintenance on the camp sites and property. I won't be returning anymore to this camp ground as I have been turned off by the owners charging the over priced fees they are now charging. I feel they are purposely charging these fees to keep the campers out and horse people in ...... It is sad because this USED to be a nice place to camp at. Do yourself the favor and go elsewhere..... There are many other places much better!
Very small inventory of purchase items Ice $4 00 bag rip off Wood$7.00 bundle rip off Drinks limited and very high priced Small items for purchase that look like been on shelf for 50 years. - Leominster Camping
Jul 2012 - $39.00
Definitely a seasonal camper park. Pool was clean, bathrooms clean, but obvious most folks are here all the time and they like to police the "short-timers." Take our advice and get the tokens to get in and out of the campground as no one is usually around to assist with the gate. Camp store is barely stocked with anything. It is very close to Erving State park. No cell service. 20 minutes to the nearest store or anything. Glad we only stayed here one night. - mskalar
Jun 2008 - $34.00
This campground is in the rebuilding stages as the current owners has owned it for a year and a half. Talking with some of the seasonals, the owners are making it a much nicer place than what it was. There were a lot of kids for my kids to play with. The playground was easily viewable from our site so that we could keep an eye on them. It was a slow weekend and we got one of their best sites (#S10). The pool was nice and there are strict rules on it's use. Tent sites looked nice under the pine trees. I would go here again. - B. P. Sep 2018 - $40.00
Park was rustic with some of the friendliest staff we have ever encountered. Pool was clean roads are rough. Nothing fancy but very nice. Wi fi is very sporadic and unreliable. The cost of $40 per night is reasonable. However the $5 per night surcharge for each pet is not. Though we had a good time at the campground we will not be returning because of the surcharge. - Ollie2

Rustic and old. Only stayed 1 night but hard to keep inside of camper clean. No grass, all sandy. Pool looked nice but did not use. Interior roads very tight. - Bjb1775
Aug 2017 - $38.00
This is an older park with very sharp turns and low hanging branches. The hook ups at our site were difficult to access, not centrally located and need to use extra hose. We feel this park was too expensive. the owner was on site and very helpful, probably the highlight of the park. - Al and Anne-Marie

We stayed for one month. Camping area was grassy; had electric, water, sewer. Internet service; no cable. Staff and other campers friendly. Pay showers, key for restroom. Nice beach and lake. Close to many attractions in N.H., Maine, Massachusetts. - pamMJR

Clean Beach, beautiful little lake and swimming area. Picnic and grilling area right on the beach. Gated entrance for security, lots of seasonal folks who are very nice to weekend campers. Owners are very nice and helpful. Close to other NH attractions. - clundberg99
Jul 2008 - $40.00
Older campground with only about 14 Camper sites and 7 tent sites. The rest are seasonals. The pond was big and had a nice beach that was open to the public. The staff seemed like they were just doing their job. Our site was cramped for our 30' travel trailer. They could have spaced the campers apart better that were their this weekend. We were put between two campers that new each other and would cut thru our site, even under our awning. There were empty sites available. This campground is very close to Canobie Lake Amusement Park which is were we spent our Saturday. This is one reason I would go back there again, but that's it. - B. P. Donelan

Aug 2016 - $42.00
The park caters to seasonal campers, but has an open field for transient RVs, the "200's." The sites are somewhat cramped in the 200's and getting a 32ft TT backed into some of the spots can be challenging. They have a handful of pull throughs.
A neighbor RV did have problems with the park 50 Amp service, he had to use a dongle to utilize just half of his 50.
The best part of the campground is the pools. The kids had a great time in the pools. Sunday morning we ate in the campground restaurant, which was decent. - johnbaker
Jul 2016 - $46.00
Nice environment, clean restroom/showers, well stocked camp store. Lots of seasonals. Transient site was in tightly packed area. Our site had lots of exposed roots. Cable consisted of 12 channels and was often fuzzy. Wi-Fi for a fee; did not use. Pools were nice. Game room was lacking. Adult rec building becomes breakfast restaurant on weekend and food is good (and reasonable). Single bar on AT&T and Verizon cell service. Overall good weekend experience. We would return. - Bigdave2165
May 2014 - $42.00
This was the first time staying at Friendly Beaver. The facilities are great, tons for kids to do, dinners, big tractor drawn wagon rides, antique firetruck rides, horses & goats....the list goes on. The bathrooms were all clean & relatively easy to get to. The not so great was the "200 section" we stayed in. It is a large oval camping area just packed with sites. The back-in sites (along the outside) are tight. I have a 23' RV with one slide-out. I was lucky to not have any adjoining neighbors during the weekend, otherwise I would have been staring at their rig (or they at mine). I mean, with my slide-out extended, my awning touched the next site when it was out. I practically didn't fit. We asked about a more private/wooded site and was told those are mostly reserved for "monthly/Seasonal" folks. There are a huge amount of "full timers". They say they are strict with speed limits, but not with the brigades of golf carts. Those people flew around like they owned the place. A bit of a pun because I had a feeling a large amount of family/family friends actually do stay there. All in all it was a nice place. Lots for kids to do, 4 pools, one of which is an indoor heated pool. If we could camp in a nice wooded site we would go back. - BigNuge
