W32 is the worst site ever. Upon check in we were told we could see & hear the river. Well 2 hours later chilling out, the cars on the road started drag racing, and burning rubber. This went on til 2am. Never heard the river once. This place is not quiet & relaxing at all. We were stressed out the entire time. We headed back to take a shower and bathrooms were in need of cleaning too. The showers are soo small it's like showering in a telephone booth. There was no place to put shampoo, soap case, towels and clothes. No hot water at all at 4pm in the women's bathroom while the men's room had sorta warm water. Dead & alive insects and spiders all over the place. I'd rather pee in the woods. - Durant824
Sep 2019 - $70.00
Spent two nights. The dates were over Labor Day. Our son in Portland. A haul to drive. Park Ok. Tramping dirt into the camper. Rained the two days, and pine needles fell on the car and camper. Neighbor swept pine needles off of canvas. Quite extensive. No mosquitos or flies noted. I have a 16 foot camper. Lot 77 on incline but no problem with a small camper. Showers were more than adequate. - C Mallo
Jul 2018 - $75.00
This campground offers lots of amenities and activities, and a river for tubing. Our site was large and level. 2 pools, one with a water slide, and each with a hot tub. Campground is a bit dated, we were told that there are new owners, you could see a few improvements already with new signage and the rec hall seemed updated. Also looked like new utilities at most of the sites in the section we were in. There is a road that splits the campground, and this was a big distraction as you could always hear trucks and motorcycles from the campground, including one very loud car at 4:30am. Campground roads were very dusty, every vehicle had a layer of dust on it by Sunday morning. Maintenance is lacking and rules were not enforced. We saw wet clothes left around the pool, band aids, litter etc, and the park staff did not seem interested in picking up. Staff and campers all seemed very nice. For the price we paid, I expected a park with better maintenance. The river tubing was pleasant at the campground, water was comfortable, but very little current. We had to paddle ourselves to get down river. They offered a church service Sunday morning, and a treasure hunt on Saturday. The road that splits the campground prevents me from wanting to return. - Mavenheath
Aug 2019 - $25.00
Old fashioned, very basic. Not good for RV's. No water for fill up. No dumping station. Very narrow site for RV. Bathroom old and dirty and smelly. Poor signage so got stuck at a dead end and had to turn around. Will not go back again. - Manometjojo
Oct 2015 - $30.00
This park is located in the southern region of NH about 30 min from UNH, 45 minutes away from Manchester and the same from Hampton Beach. It is a beautiful park with the 195 campsites in three sections - a tent section, Big Island area and then Horse Island. There is also primitive camping on other lakes in this huge park. Horse Island and part of Big Island are reservable - 180 total. There are some great sites on Horse Island overlooking the lake and many have direct access for their kayaks from their site. Our site 7 was beautiful but tough to turn around in with a 25ft sprinter, so I would not pick it again. One needs to really read the write up about the sites. We loved site 43! There are bathhouses with flush toilets and coin operated showers throughout the park. All sites are wooded with open fireplaces, picnic tables and there is water available around the loops. There is a beach with playground, store and picnic tables all in walking distance from most sites but parking there is also available. Pets are not allowed in the park and there is no dump station. There are boat ramps for boating on Pawtuckaway Lake that surrounds the campsites. Many sites have lake views. We definitely will be back. I just wish they allowed pets and had a dump station. - gsnakehill
Jun 2013 - $40.00
Was a stop over for us on the way north. Nice park for families with the lake, beach, boat rentals and nice store. Sites are spacious offering privacy. We were able to back into our site with our 32 ft motorhome, but most sites are not level. Park is really not big rig friendly, most campers were in tents. Again, nice park, but we won't be returning because the price for a state park with no hookups is way too high. - Buckie
Aug 2011 - $27.00
Stay away. Mostly old seasonals resembles a trailer park. Sites are very tight but not as narrow as the roads. Dump station did not work because of an on going root problem. - cbshea02
May 2018 - $50.00
We are 8 that camp together. I liked this place very much and would go back. The only thing is, people drive fast through out the campground. They don't bother you about putting your fire out at a certain time. You can have fun and enjoy yourself without being bothered by all the strict rules. One couple in our party did not like that M80's went off at 9:30pm about 3 times during the weekend because it upset their dog. But I enjoy it. We are all 50+ They have paved roads sites are a good size and level. - meister
May 2017 - $70.00
In our numerous years of camping,This is by far the worst campground we have ever been to. This is not a family campground this is nothing but a party zone. There is absolutely no regulations or security in this campground. People speeding around in cars or golf carts(some drunk, also children) radios blasting, there is no regard to pedestrians and their safty. People yelling and partying until 3:30 in the morning with no regards to children on the next site over trying to sleep. Calling security was a joke, only get a message mail box is full, could not leave a message. The people next to my sister, playing with lighter fluid in the fire, also smoking so much pot that my sister and her young children along with my pregnant niece and her 10 month daughter could smell it in their tent trailer. Again calling security was a joke, got the same message. There were also broke bottles from people drunk and tossing their bottles off the golf carts. These broken bottles were there from Friday until we left on Monday Memorial Day. This is definitely NOT a family campground. There is no "quiet time" as specified. No wifi and no cable. We would never return to this campground! The only good thing is they do have clean restrooms and showers and the site was big and level. - Fletcher_11
Jun 2016 - $77.00
Great over all experience but surprised there is no pool especially seeing it is priced much higher than the neighboring camp grounds. - User3034
Jul 2019 - $65.00
Muddy, bathrooms are very outdated. I was unable to wade in the river due to it moving too fast. The access to it is very steep for kids to access, There is little to do at this campground. Quiet time is aggressively enforced at 10:00. Hopefully next year vacation will be better. - Wellington camping park
Aug 2018 - $35.00
We are staying for the first time as seasonal campers in a travel trailer. This is a family campground on the Lamprey River. It has a small sandy beach area, but no lifeguard. They have canoes and kayaks for camper use at no charge, which is great. They have a a playground, a rec room with pool and ping pong and games for the kids. There is also a dog park area. Folks have been very friendly and the campground is well maintained. The seasonal rates are excellent and very accessible to metro Boston. - bishoppe11
May 2016 - $30.00
A seasonal campground with daily, weekly, monthly, and seasonal rates. Dirt roads are a little rough in spots so go slow. Some gravel sites, most are fairly level, 50 amp for larger rigs. The family is in the process of revamping the entire camp so it is in transition but still a great place for kids to ride bikes and swim/kayak/tube along the river. The sites along the river only fit tents, the upper section could fit some bigger rigs and a few on the lower area could fit up to a 45 foot. They have sewer tanks that they pump out and a dump site by the entrance. It is a family run campground, friendly and vintage but clean. They have horse shoe pits, tether ball, a small rec center with a pool table, grocery stores and restaurants are a short drive. We stayed for over a month and enjoyed the friendly atmosphere. - PERRELLAS
Sep 2017 - $40.00
If rated on customer service, this place would be a 10. Sadly, this park is in the process of being sold to developers. It is a convenient park but not designed for larger rigs. Watch out for low wires. - Charisma1965
Aug 2015 - $45.00
Not a campground by any means, more like a trailer park. No teen activities little to no activities for younger kids or any activities are put on by other campers/residents Campground employees are quick to Yell at you for going to fast yet they pass you on their 4 wheelers, that's another thing. 4 wheelers are constantly going all over the campground like its a ATV park. Yet they are not allowed unless you're part of the click. One of the owners is more than happy to tell you it's quite time while roaring around the camp at midnight waking my kids with the sound of his 4 wheeler.
The public restrooms are a filthy outdated mess. WiFi only at the office with no place to sit or any privacy. With so many campgrounds out their I will never bring my family there again.
Don't waste your money. - Happy sober camper
Jun 2015 - $45.00
Horrible experience! When i called to reserve a two week spot, the woman on the phone took a five day payment. Upon arriving at the office to check in, we were told that our chosen site had been taken and were given another site and were not allowed to choose where. We were told that we had to use their power convertor (which unplugged and spoiled everything in my fridge and defrosted everything in my freezer). The bathrooms reeked of mildew. The showers were pay showers with tiny heads that only sprayed a mist, and you could not adjust the water temperature. When I went to the office on day three, the woman behind the desk... the same one who checked me in said, "Checking out, correct?" Shocked i replied, "No, when I phoned and checked in I told you we needed a spot for two weeks." I was then informed that someone took a seasonal spot and i was given two hours to pack up and leave AND find another place to stay. Please note this campground is located next to a prison, the dirt roads are poorly maintained and only fit one vehicle at a time. The only positive thing that i can say is that the fishing was great. Lastly, they had two activities listed but both were cancelled. Another camper told me that they plan and cancel most activities. Do not ruin your vacation by staying at this disorganised slum of a campground. - country camper69
Aug 2018 - $20.00
Beautiful setting and very friendly staff. This is a small (28' site) family owned campground with sites located around the pond in tiered landscaping. We had a nice pull through site but we opted to back in as didn't want to twist the axles too sharply as we climbed up and to the right to enter the site. No big issue. Wifi is uncommonly strong and available at our site. 2 way hook-up (water/electric) easy to reach. Only 30 amp power. Picnic table is of great quality and fire rig is available. Negative issue: Voltage is low at times (104) so our EMS kept dropping the power and shutting us down to protect our appliances. - Himie
Jun 2018 - $56.00
This park is mostly either full time summer visitors or permanents. This is an older park with only water and electric, but does have a dump station. The showers are cinder block and are in need of a good scrubbing and painting. The water was hot. One washer and dryer on the honor system. - Kwanyen
Aug 2017 - $18.00
Wow, what a delight! I've had to write a few stinker reviews lately, so now, while I really should be working, I'm delighted to be writing this. My stay here started out amazing, and just got better. The reservation phone call, my greeting upon arrival by the owner, then his son (maybe 14?) showing me to my spot; what delightful people who truly care, and it shows in every aspect of this place. The spots do not have water or sewer, just electric, but everything is close by and convenient. The price of $17.50 with Passport America is such a bargain, I am amazed. I normally travel through Good Sam, and this park was not on their list. I'm so glad I checked PA or I would have missed this gem! I'm sitting under my awning, enjoying a gentle rain, looking out over the beautiful pond. I'm surrounded by beautiful planter boxes (someone has a gift for planting boxes!), in this incredibly tidy and neat little park. It is a "park," as beautiful as any park I've been in, with little rolling hills giving different elevations. Each site has tons of space, a picnic table, manicured grass, and a well-placed fire pit. The little pond has specified use areas; frog catching & fishing, a swimming beach and some little sit and appreciate areas. The whole place is gravel, so no riding bikes, but there is a very well equipped playground, and the little "swimmin hole" for kids. Oh and frog catching? That beats riding bikes any day! The bathrooms are rustic; painted cinder block, but very adequate, well kept and VENTILATED. OMG I wish other places understood the importance of this. They even have a hotel-type hair dryer in them! There is a little storage building next to the bathhouse with a "honor system" washer and dryer. This place has everything. I wish I could get some work done instead of sitting out here enjoying it! Get site 1 or A1 right along the pond, although almost all the sites have a pond view. - User3597
Jul 2019 - $40.00
I was not impressed by this campground. Most of the park is occupied by seasonal or full timers. The infrastructure is lacking in that some of the water lines are above ground and visible. It was very dusty. The river is really not very inviting either as it moves very slowly and retains a yellowish color from the vegetation. Our electrical outlet where we plugged in our fifth wheel was dangling and not secured to the outlet box. The restroom sink was being held up by the trash can (this was repaired on the day that we left). There are several things that definitely need to be updated. The store was not open through out the day during the week and the laundry facility needs updating and maybe be in an enclosed building so it could be kept cleaner. We where there from Friday until the following Thursday, a day ahead of schedule and I think we would have left earlier if we wouldn't be out so much money. - Amygirlrn
Jul 2016 - $35.00
The owners go overboard to see that you are satisfied and will do their best to make you comfortable. When we first arrived after a long dusty road we were assigned a campsite along the river. We hadn't paid yet, the owners would be by later to collect. The campsite was dirt and very crowded. We were very close to our neighbors in a run down trailer. Looked like the neighborhood had been there for years. We were ready to pull out and go somewhere else. The owner showed up and moved us to another campsite with more space and grass. We stayed for our two week commitment.
The campground is occupied by a majority of seasonal people who are friendly and very helpful. We enjoyed meeting them. The pool is very nice and clean. The river is dirty and the launch site is muddy, not a good place for your kayak. The electric service would go off for short periods of time and the voltage would drop. WIFI is available only at the store, no AT&T, no cable TV and too many trees for satellite service. Lowes, Walmart and groceries are near by. - Nautilus
May 2016 - $37.00
This really isn't a very nice campground. I would have to consider it more of a trailer park for RVs. Most of the park is occupied by seasonal or full timers. The infrastructure is lacking in that the power lines are strung randomly around the trees, some of the water lines are just 1/2" abs lines strung around on the ground, and the sewer lines are pvc with some of it above ground. It's either very dusty or very muddy. There are mosquitoes aplenty with all of the standing water around the campground. The river is really not very inviting either as it moves very slowly and retains a yellowish color from the vegetation.
I do have to say that the two women that own the park are very pleasant to deal with but I'm afraid that's about the only positive attribute I can give the park. We spent a week here and would have gone someplace else but it looked like some of the other campgrounds in the area could have been similar so we stayed put. - hoppers4
Jun 2016 - $55.00
I am a seasonal at Barrington Shores for the past 3 years and every year I have been back. Love the atomosphere and the activities the campground offers. - dsheehan
Aug 2015 - $34.00
I have nothing bad to say.
This campground is awesome beautiful beaches yes there are 2 clean restroom are plentiful free wi/fi. All over the park the week we stayed the had a free pig roast. It was great so much to do I got dizzy. Had to let the world know this place is the best. - Happy sober camper
Aug 2015 - $54.00
This facility normally requests a 3 day stay, as they say "to keep out partiers and riff raff" We were tired and they made an exception for us, as we were "an older couple!" What a beautiful park. Yes the roads were a little rough but you expect that in a heavily wooded area with old trees! They offer nice amenities including boat and paddleboard rentals. They have laundry facilities, propane and a store on site. Showers and restrooms wonderful. They also rent cabins. It was a little spendy, but would make a great facility for a family reunion. Their checkout time is 1:00. They have two beaches on lake. So much to do here, no need to leave park! - DigMyPast
Jul 2016 - $40.00
We camped in a motorhome. This was a stop on the way to a convention so necessary to dump tanks and fill with water. Staff was very friendly. Sites were grass with little distinction between the sites. Camp is situated on river with marshy area nearby. Whole camp was wet, perhaps from recent rain. Lots of mosquitoes so hard to enjoy being outside. One of two washers was being repaired (things happen) so did laundry in town. Lots of seasonal campers. No patio or designated patio area. - Al Z
Aug 2015 - $40.00
This was an interesting place. Mostly seasonal who are responsible for cutting their own grass I guess because we heard plenty on lawnmovers and other sites were in need of a cutting. Place is quiet and many campers were inside by 9:00. We did not find it to be very buggy, just a little once it got dark. Views of the river were nice but you do get a smell of marsh at low tide. Staff was nice and were most of the campers. We found this campground to be very boring. Partly because it was small so walking it took no time at all and partly because there was nothing to do in the campground or the area. We did use the pool one day which was nice but it could have been a little cleaner. Not sure if we will return. - Happy Camper X2
Jul 2015 - $30.00
Stayed recently, and definitely will not return. The mosquito problem is so significant that you almost can't leave your tent/RV -both day and night, and beyond the typical dusk/dawn mosquito feeding times. Took the dog for a walk at 8am in bright sunshine and we were both attacked by swarms of mosquitos - literally dozens. Off repellent with 30% deet was only marginally effective, and we could not sit by the fire due to the sheer volume of mosquitos.
Campground was clean, with good level sites for tents. The small staff was accommodating, friendly, and helpful, but we were prisoners inside our tent most of the time due the the mosquito problem. We were also sold firewood on-site that still needed a good month to dry/season and would barely light. This may be a good campground for the seasonal camper who owns a boat, due to boat ramp (but in water that you cannot swim in), but beyond that, there are far better choices out there. The owners really need to treat the campground for mosquitos and deal with this significant problem. In 20 years of camping, we have never seen such a significant mosquito issue. - Mr Joe P
