Overall Rating:

Ramblewood CG is a relatively primitive campground in northern New Hampshire. Roads around the CG are gravel and sites are gravel or grass and pretty level. There is only one flush toilet in the campground and that is in the office, open during business hours. There are "outhouse" type toilets located in several locations around the CG. There are two showers that are open 24/7 and although a bit dated are clean. Utilities are located well enough for convenient use - mostly to the front of the site. The power can be a bit uneven at times, particularly if the campground is over half full. There is Wifi in the office. The appeal of Ramblewood is it's location overlooking the First Connecticut Lake and access to the far north woods of New Hampshire. It is very beautiful and peaceful and one can hear the Loons on the Lake calling at night. The owner is very nice and works hard to keep the campground groomed and clean. We are able to park our 45ft MH in a couple of different sites in the CG - we sort of look out of place given the remote and undeveloped campground but it is one of our favorite places to visit. Sites in general are very private or nicely spaced from the next. There are not too many activities for children right in the campground but they do have a beach down on the Lake and one can rent boats and kayaks or just go swimming. No specific dog area but there are walking paths and open areas to walk the dog. There are also cabins which can be rented either on the Lake or in the main campground. We camped at Ramblewood Cabins & Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Moose Alley Cones just up the road from the campground is the place to go for ice cream. There is an 11 mile stretch of road between the CG and Canada and one can often see moose along the road in the evening. Several nice hikes in the area and can also rent ATVs to travel the miles of logging roads in the area. Great location for fly fishing.
